Shake Loose the Border (Thunder on the Moor Book 3) by Andrea Matthews – Review by Erin Wolf

Shake Loose the Border (Thunder On The Moor Book 3)Shake Loose the Border by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the series of time traveling, romance, and the love and heartache that makes up a family. Reading the first two books is highly recommended before reading this one.

The story picks up in the past and the author weaves such a fantastic, realistic view, I feel like I am right there. The most important things of that era are highlighted here — the love and steadfast dedication of family, the wickedness that can turn some men to do evil things, and the struggle they had just to survive. All of your emotions are brought out within the pages of this book.

Then we are brought back to modern day. You don’t think you can take much more of the roller-coaster, but the ride is not yet over. So much more happens to make you feel both love and make you want to weep. The story and characters are riveting, I felt so much for so many of them.

If you are a fan of time travel with romance, adventure, and action, this series is for you.

Wow… don’t even look to start here if you haven’t read the first two books. Go, shoo… if you have read them, get on this one immediately. This book took me through probably every human emotion. I can’t even imagine having to have written it without a meltdown of some form. Such a great book, and I’m really really hoping this isn’t the end of this series.

This is my first read from this author and It took me for an absolute ride. The amount of emotion and heartache throughout this story shattered me at some points. Sadly I am starting from book 3, and so I plan to read book 1 and 2 to get a full grasp on the story as aw whole.

This historical tale captures the blood feud between the Clans of Britain and Scotland. We are provided a vivid account of the love and loss for everyone the feud touched. We are taken on this thrilling journey experiencing time travel, murder, drama, and the depths one will endure for love. Maggie and Will were such strong characters and their love knew no bounds regardless of what time period they were in. The characters as a whole I felt connected to, and every twist just entangled me more within their stories.

This is the third book in a series. The books definitely build on each other, so it is best to read them in order. Also, there are a lot of characters, so it is easy to get lost if you haven’t gotten to know them all along. The series is a time travel romance. Maggie’s father, Robbie, has been killed. Her wedding to Will is coming up if they can fight through her relatives and someone killing Johnnie Hetherington. It was a wonderful story and hard to put down. Cannot wait to read the next (and last, I think) in the series!

This is the third novel in this series. These are NOT stand alone books. If you try to read two or three without having read the previous books you will not have all the information you need to move forward. This story keeps getting more wild, dramatic and crazy as it goes on. There is so much action and suspense sometimes it is hard to know where to focus your attention. That said I am enamored with the characters enough that I can’t wait to find out what happens to them. This storyline has become an absolute obsession for me. As always the author added all those well researched historical facts and details that just make these stories pop… and makes her one of my my favorite authors. Another added bonus is the maps, family trees, and glossaries of obscure words. Now comes the hard part … waiting for book 4!!

I had high hopes for this second installment in this series and I was not disappointed. Once again this author does her research well. All those historically accurate details really are a huge draw for me. One thing I would note is sometimes there is so much going on it is hard to follow and you wish everything would slow down and have all those little details that really flush a book out. I love the descriptions of Scotland and really feel like I can see the image in the way it is described. The characters are lovable and have well developed back stories. Am reading book three today! Can’t wait to see what happens to Will and Maggie next.

I don’t normally read this genre but have had others like it showing up on my Facebook feed recently. This book is by far better than others I’ve read or started reading. The plot was intricate, a few times a little too complicated, and suspenseful. The ending was not predictable, as many books are. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and definitely recommend.

Book 3 in the Shadow Chronicles series and by far my FAVORITE! 🖤 I adore paranormal romance reads, especially shifter reads. This series spiced the shifter world up for sure. I followed Tasha and Levi’s story from the beginning to the end and LOVED every minute spent reading it!! Sad to see their story end but it ended beautifully. You just have got to read from book one. Or well I highly recommend it anyways, if you haven’t. I loved their story so much I couldn’t imagine NOT reading every part of their journey. Another amazing read from this author and ecstatic I was introduced to her work.

What an amazing start to a series! Recently I’ve found myself looking for a paranormal type story and wow did I find just the right one to bring me out of a reading funk. I love when an author makes me completely forget the real world around me. That’s exactly what this author gave me, from start to finish I was so drawn in I couldn’t stop until the very last page. The characters are complex and relatable they draw you into their world and had me hanging on every word. This story has action, drama and romance that keeps you on your toes the entire ride. The characters bring the story to life and I loved every minute I got with them. The storyline is well written and original. It’s paced well and all together a fantastic story. Five huge stars and highly recommended! Can’t wait for more!

I was so excited to be back with Tasha and Levi! I knew I’d have just as much fun with them as the first go around and the author certainly didn’t disappoint in any way. Once again we’re pulled into a paranormal adventure that left me feeling like the real world no longer existed. Once again the characters just draw you in and you can try all you want to take it slow and make it last but you’ll probably do about as well as me with that. There’s times a was on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what happens next. I like a book where I can still not make out what’s happening next and this author gets that need. It’s got nice originality and it’s definitely a story that’ll keep you up reading it to the very end. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’m so excited for more and definitely give this one five stars. Highly recommend this book, this author and this series!

I picked 4 stars but it’s more like 4.5. I enjoyed the way the battle with the Hellspawn ended. I loved the introduction of new characters and the goodbye to others. However I don’t feel like the part about the elemental witches was concluded enough. It seemed like it was going to be a bigger deal than it was. Even with that being said this was a great book and I’m sad that the story is over. Oh and the cover art for all three books is gorgeous.

How much have I absolutely loved this series you ask? Well it’s more than I can easily put into words. Tasha and Levi have taken my heart and I’ll never forget their adventure they took me on. This book was even better than the first two and I honestly can’t wait to reread the series again at some point. Once again I was instantly drawn in and ready for the ride the author and the characters created were taking me on. I tried slowly reading but it just couldn’t be done I was hooked and read it all in one sitting. This author knows the key to writing a story that leaves you wondering real world from fiction and I loved it! Another well written storyline that everyone needs to one click right now. Five well earned stars and highly recommended!

I enjoyed the theme of the book. Forbidden love between two different species and the battles they face by being together. I thought the story was very original. I didn’t like how frequent some phrases were used.

The characters were developed nicely. Tasha is a good person to her core. She sees the world differently and has faith in what it could be. Levi is intense but in a good way. He knows what he wants and will do everything in his power to make sure he gets it.

My favorite character is actually Radar. I hope we get a spin off series in the future. Maybe he finds his mate or the creature he’s been searching for.

The pace of the book was medium to fast. There’s parts that go a tad slow but it’s definitely a page turner.

Tasha and Levi are at it again but even stronger this time with their daughter and Tashas honed in on her power with the help of the witches. I’ve been waiting for this last installment of the book for sometime but the author has been quick with releases. I’m sad to see it end but it was not with any disappointment at all. I cannot wait to read the spin off series comming out. There was plenty of action, world building, character building and sexual tension as always. I don’t want it to end. Whose to say CR will end it though? Maybe in spin offs the author will decide to continue some more stories about Tasha and Levi. This was the best in the series in my opinion. A must get, and a to go. Couldn’t put it down.

Forbidden Moon is the third book in the Shadow Chronicles series. It’s definitely worth reading this series from the start to get to know the characters and context for this fast-paced story.
Wow. This is a fantastic, exciting book! It’s got vampires, werewolves, witches and more. It’s got myths and prophecies and so much magic. It’s a real page-turner that I couldn’t put down. And a perfect story to read during the January Wolf Moon.
The narrative mainly switches between Tasha and Levi’s perspective. This is particularly effective where they are both trying to make decisions to protect each other and you can see how there’s just no way either of them will keep the other out of trouble!
There were a few points where I felt like things were moving a bit too quickly for me to keep track of, but I was able to flick back a few pages and reorient myself. Definitely a book that you want to be giving your full attention!
This book gets five stars from me! I would recommend it to fans of modern fantasy series (if you’re a recovering Twihard you’ll probably love this). And start with book 1, Forbidden Wolf, if you haven’t already read it!

Levi and Tasha are back and they are still fighting for their lives, as well as for the lives of their families and friends, as the hellspawn continue to attack their military bases, the vampires and the lycans are putting aside their differences and the allied forces they have created together finally believe they can work together and a truce has been called between the two races. Meanwhile, the hellspawn are becoming stronger and more daring in their attacks, but the allied forces weaponry is advancing at a much faster pace, albeit everyone is on edge and exhausted, they continue their fight against the swarming darkness.

As the battles continue, Tasha is looking into the history of their races to try and figure out their origins and why she has the magical powers within her, this is all while studies are being made into the different breeds of hellspawn and what makes them so strong, as well as unravel the mysteries as to why they are determined to destroy the two mates. On one of their information gathering excursions something goes awry and nearly destroys the bond between them, however, as they frolic under the light of the full moon and relive an encounter from their past in the most passionate way possible, an ancient power returns and a truth is revealed which may just be the key to their survival.

Despite this, the danger surrounding them doesn’t lessen as they recover from one shock after another a new kind of hellspawn emerges and as they attempt to break the connection between Tasha and Levi it just makes them more determined to find each other again, but will they come together in time to stop the Hellspawn plans for domination, or will the world as they know it come to an end? This is a paranormal romance with plenty of action and adventure to keep you hooked as two opposing species come together to fight an intolerable evil which preys on all without discrimination in this addictive fantasy adventure.

This whole series has really hit me in the feels and has grabbed my attention to the point where I finished most of these three novels within the course of two weeks. Tasha and Levi’s family are all together, fighting the evil that has descended upon them to protect what’s theirs, and what will continue the legacy of these fated mates, or as I like to think of them, these star-crossed lovers. The world did seem to be against them, with every turn, but as these strong individuals came together, true love conquers all, or at least, that’s what we hope for with this lovely finale of a fantastic series.

I was on the edge of my seat, laughing as the Tasha and Levi bickered, only to make up in very hot scenes, cringing whilst these species fight together against the greater evil, and my heart swelled as this adventure came to a close. I love how the author included many of the supporting characters to give them a chance to shine and prove that it takes a village for so many things to prosper. Can’t wait to read more by this author and have recommended these novels to many. Well done!

Shake Loose the Border (Thunder on the Moor Book 3) by Andrea Matthews. This book was sooo good. Its a time traveling, paranormal romance. Its the story of Maggie and Will who are getting married soon. One day they find Johnnie Hetherington’s body tied to a tree on their property. Of course the police question Will and his family though its pretty obvious that they didn’t do it. It is decided the Wedding can proceed but shortly after the other Clan attacks them sending Maggie going back to another time to be safe. Will finds himself in trouble again and its going to take everything Dylan has to save him. The Scottish time seems so beautiful and I truly felt like I was there. I really believe this can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order to truly understand all that’s going on. Will Dylan be able to save Will or will he end up losing everything? Read this amazing paranormal, time traveling romance!

While I still enjoyed this last installment of the series, I, unfortunately, did not enjoy it as much as the first 2 books. I feel that Tasha’s character had started to become a little too perfect and even less interesting. A lot of her developments and strengths over other characters just didn’t make sense. I, once again found myself wishing that there was more Levi. Even though he has a good amount of chapters, he brings balance. He is a much more mature character. Tasha is exactly the same as her book 1 young adult self. Despite being a mother and older she only grows in abilities but not maturity.

There were also plot points that seemed important but then dropped. I also feel like a lot of what balanced Tasha and Levi was lost with the development of the characters in the end. I get what the author was trying to do but there is a beauty to the characters remaining what they are and being different from one another. They had already incorporated quite a bit of each other’s abilities in themselves, which was great. It felt like it negated the whole idea that they were the only ones who accepted each other for who they were. On the other hand, I was surprised at how I liked the witches. I also absolutely loved seeing more Dominic. I hope that the author gives him a series of his own. It would be awesome to see a romance with Charlotte and have Levi and Tasha come back as supporting characters in that one. All of that being said, I still enjoyed this book a lot.

Wow! Forbidden Mate is even better than book 1! This book sees Tasha and Levi’s fight against their detractors continue. There’s more of everything. More action and more sweetness and love between Tasha and Levi. I love that they are an unquestionable unit here. They have faith in each other and their love. Tasha’s story with Castus takes center stage and it’s a doozy. I felt all of Tasha’s anguish and fear as well as her relief and love. I loved getting to see her parents, especially her dad, step up to protect her. Caine made me stand up and cheer. I am so glad there was more to him than Tasha initially thought. I loved the resolve to her saga with Castus. It was very cathartic. I especially enjoyed seeing Levi’s protection, love, and worry. I can’t get enough of this series.

I feel that he is a more interesting character. I love a good wolf story and this book does not disappoint. The action scenes as well as the whole book are very well written. *Howls into the moonlight. * This is exactly what I have been looking for to fill my time. Not only does this novel have a dystopian vibe to it, but it has your supernatural, romantic, forbidden love aspects all tied into one lovely package. I honestly didn’t want to put it down, and I’m so excited to embark on the next two installments, very happy that I waited until there was more than the first to start embarking on this adventure.

The authors writing style, her ability to draw you into the dark woods and fall for both the main characters, is astounding. The introduction of other characters and enemies is flawless, and you really bond with Tasha and Levi right from the start. The development of these characters and their fight to stay together and continue to understand each other as they change/mature, fight for what they believe in is heart-warming. I have recommended this series to others, and please excuse me while I dive deep into the next. Must read!

So I have seen others write that reading this AMAZING book and conclusion to this series has been bittersweet for them and I totally agree, that is a really good way to describe how I was feeling too! I was so excited to continue the story and find out what was going to happen and yes, once again I was completely hooked from page one but at the same time I didn’t want my time with these fantastic characters and this amazing world to end. The need to know won out of course and I devoured the book as quickly as possible! If I could give more than 5 little stars I absolutely would!
With the Vampires and Lycans now coming together to go against the Hellspawn you just know there is going to be non stop action…Can they come out the other side of all this victorious? you have to read this to find out…no spoilers given here But I will say this…you are crazy if you don’t get reading this book NOW!!

If you love paranormal books then you have read plenty featuring not only Vampires and Lycans but also it seems their almost traditional hatred for each other, this series brings a brand new twist.
Tasha ( a vampire) and Levi (a Lycan) are suppose to be enemies but their connection and dare I say undeniable chemistry makes staying that way impossible. Of course things don’t go smoothly, that would be boring right but I promise you, you will thoroughly enjoy every twist and turn along the way. Bring on book 2.
