My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hell In A Handbasket (Book Three of the Life Is Hell series) by Naomi Valkyrie was a great read! The paranormal misfit family is back! Or at least I see them as a bunch of paranormal misfits that shouldn’t work out together but for all intents and purposes they do. Each book in this series I think gets better and better. I enjoy learning about more of the characters through each book in this series. This book had me laughing with the funny antics of Larkspur. I can’t wait to read more of him in the next book! I love the inclusivity of this series as well. This is quickly becoming a favorite! I can’t wait for the next installment!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Born Of Darkness series and wow what a start. I love anything to do with vampires so this book was perfect for me. I really liked the adult theme in the relationship between our strong female character and the male vampires.

Dawn knows something is different about her but she doesn’t know what that is. After a run in with what she believes was a human serial killer she is shocked when she realises its a vampire and that another vampire saves her.

Now with the hive of the dead vampire after them Silas knows they have to leave and keep Dawn safe. Not everyone in his hive is happy with that idea especially not their leader Markula.

As they leave to escape the vampires after them the relationships between them grows and they learn that by being with Dawn their powers are increasing which is just as well if they are to defeat the forces against them.

Can they face the odds and win? What is Dawn? Is she human or something more? Can their love survive or will Dawn be the death of them all?

WOW! Prepare yourself for this Paranormal Romance. So many things going on, it will need your full attention. Not really! But really.
This is another visit to Juniper Lake and the paranormals who live there. Right under the noses of the humans. Welcome to Teivel and Orens story. Here we have a Demon and a Demon Hunter working together, hanging out and well, making this book come to life. Can this work for Teivel and Oren? Can two hurt people open their hearts and find what they are looking for? Only reading this book can answer that question. This could be a standalone story, but I recommend you start with Book 1.

Naomi Valkyrie has captured my heart again. Her story is well written and leaves nothing out. I have fallen completely in love with the characters and love the prankster pixie. I laughed and cried, sometimes both throughout this story. I love this series and can’t wait to read book 4. Well Done Naomi Valkyrie! Well Done!

5-stars

This is the first book by this author that I have read but it certainly won’t be my last, I absolutely loved this one! From the very first chapter I was hooked, Once I started reading, I found it incredibly hard to stop so I ended up reading it in one sitting, and then all I wanted to do once I reached the end was dive into the next book of the series, which I’m really looking forward to reading!

This author wrote with so much detail that I was immediately enticed by the storyline and the fantastic characters. It’s a fast paced paranormal read with lots of action, entertaining and witty characters, and steamy scenes, so many deliciously steamy scenes. It was truly a pleasure to read from start to finish.

This is a book I would recommend to anyone looking for their next paranormal read, you will not be disappointed.

Beckoned: Born Of Darkness (Book 1) by R.B. Fields is a paranormal erotic story with string characters that will really capture your attention. I found myself utterly hooked by them and their story – vampires, a hunter and a whole lot of sexy. The book was well developed from start to finish. The author knew just how to push the story forward and when to pull back just a little. This is a new author for me and if all of their books are like this then I am excited to read more.

Hell In A Handbasket (Life is Hell Book 3) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Tausha Treadway

Hell In A Handbasket (Life is Hell #3)Hell In A Handbasket by Naomi Valkyrie

Hell In A Handbasket (Life is Hell Book 3) by Naomi Valkyrie. This is the 3rd installment in the Life is Hell series and its just as good as the 1st and 2nd if not better. I love Naomi Valkyrie so anything she writes I try to read. Its still set in Juniper Lake that seems so serene and peaceful but is anything but that. This is the story of Oren and Teivel who we met in the previous books but not much was told about them. Oren is a demon hunter who turns to demon Teivel for help in his training. He has tried to find anyone but Teivel but couldn’t come up with anyone else. This ends up being a mess for Oren because he is still a little new to the idea of being a Hunter and he also find Teivel a little attractive! The two have chemistry for days! This story is full of danger, mystery, family and romance. You won’t be able to turn the pages fast enough. Do yourself a favor and read them in order. You will be so glad you did!

Vengeance was a great read; it is the fifth book in the Sundown series but could be read as a standalone. I have read others from the series and also recommend them. The author has a great writing style that really draws you into the story and although it is a YA read I really enjoyed it. The storyline was good and engaging and I really liked the characters. Max was a nice character to read about and her story definitely kept me interested the whole way through. The author’s attention to detail was another huge positive for this book.
I would definitely recommend this story and think YA readers would really enjoy it.

Another wonderful time traveling story in this series by Shannon Nemechek! This story carried on straight from book 2 so they definitely need to be read in order and as I anticipated they story was just as well written with a great pace. The author’s vivid imagination really shines through and allows to me to imagine what is going on with the characters. I was immersed in the story from beginning to end. I really liked the characters; they are well developed and imaginative. I think out of the three stories this is probably my favourite so far.
This series is a must for any historical/time traveling fan! You won’t be disappointed!

Carnival of Shadows (Black Water Magic #2)Carnival of Shadows by Leslie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love love books that have an undertone of Carnival to them so when this cover caught my eye and I saw the theme it was a no brainer I knew I had to give it a read. I am so glad that I did. It was one crazy ride and I loved every single second that I spent reading it! I was completely swept up into this world created by Leslie Scott where Teagan is our main character and there are so many more side characters that just pack as much of a punch, given the theme that is also a no brainer. I loved how this managed to keep me thinking about it when I wasn’t reading and had me itching to pick it back up the next day to see how things would turn out. I can’t wait to see what else is available in this series and will come next as well as what may be available by Leslie Scott as well!

Beckoned is the first book in the Born of Darkness series by R.B. Fields. This book also appears to be the author’s debut novel. I love anything vampire- so it was a given that I would be reading this book the moment it showed up on my recommended book list.
It has a refreshingly original take on the whole vampire lore- making for a captivating read. With drama, humour, and plenty of sizzle- this introduction to the author’s work ensures that I will definitely be coming back for more.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Valkyrie continues to impress me greatly with the care she takes in crafting each book and creating a world that you dive headlong into and feel part of. Because of the character development that carries over, even though these books stand well on their own, I cannot stress how much more enjoyable the reader will find the experience if taking it in series order. Quite frankly, with Valkyrie’s gifted pen, I’m not sure anyone wouldn’t rush to pick up the rest if they started out of order. Regardless, the character development and world building in this book were fantastic. If you fancy not-your-average paranormal romp, this book is most definitely for you. I know these characters are dear to the author for the care she took in each page. And that care made me care. Masterfully done! I cannot wait to read the next book!

Rebecca Remains by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Erica Shoebridge

Rebecca RemainsRebecca Remains by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow! This book had me on the edge of my seat from the first chapter! Jessica Aiken-Hall starts by introducing us to our heroine Tessa, her husband Keith, and Tessa’s sister Emily, and starts to weave in all the ways in which Tessa might be in danger. When the ghost appears to her, Tessa is forced to question her marriage, her husband, and ultimately, everyone in her circle. Emily helps her to realize her unique gift, and she struggles to learn how to use it. As the mystery continued, I found myself increasingly wanting to shout at Tessa: “Don’t trust them! No, don’t go there! Watch out for this!”.

The authour is fantastic at creating intrigue and eliciting emotions in the reader. I was quite invested in the story, and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It also became a more robust tale than I initially thought at the outset. There was more at stake than it seemed, as mysteries from the past wove together with the immediate dangers to Tessa.

Some of the heroine’s characteristics and insecurities made me groan; she has a different outlook on life and love than I believe most women have in the 21st century. I think though that part of her journey was having to examine some of these mindsets, and make an informed choice about what she wanted her life to look like going forward, and who she might move forward with. That is, if she can unravel the mystery fast enough, and survive whoever is plotting against her!

“Cursed Sight” was a great novel to read if you like magic, romance, and thrill. I wish I had read the first book first, however, the story was still able to be followed and the characters known without the first book. The characters were well developed and had a great dynamic between them. I look forward to reading the first book in the series, and the next one that comes out this year. The author’s writing style is comfortable to read and it entices you to come back for more. This book kept me on edge. And to be honest, most books I read are predictable.
