This was my first book by this author. The book was really good. I love that it had twists in the story. The details in the story was good. The book had me wanting to know what happened next, so it was a page turner for me. I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

I love the two main characters Caitlin DeDanann and Evariste Gage. Who knew that reincarnation of his wife would be Caitlin? When I was reading this book, I thought Evariste Gage was human or at least normal and Caitlin was the vampire but it is an amazing story of how he felt like his wife was in her all this time. Love this story and the author did an amazing job.

This is the first book I have read from this author and wow I’m a fan now. I love a good paranormal romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. You are going to fall in love with all of the characters in their own way. I could not put this book down until the end. I was so excited to see what would happen next that I read it in twenty four hours.
Caitlyn DeDanann lives her life day to day without planning. She is alway scatterbrained as well. Caitlyn is shocked when she gets an offer to do some background investigation when she is supposed to be on vacation. She is not happy about this but she goes and she meets a very interesting family. They are called the Arsceneaux family and they have a lot of secrets they are holding. When Caitlyn meets this family she is very intrigued and she starts to dig deeper. She is drawn to one of the brothers but she doesn’t understand it. Could they mind controlling her or is it true love?

This book is the fourth book of the Shadow Chronicles but this one while in the same wonderful world is about kimber (woot woot). I was super excited seeing this series continue . I think Kimber and Fabian are my favorite characters so far. Fabian is the sweetest. This book has just as many twists and turns as the first three books and also leaves you wanting, no need more. Like truly I love this and would love stay in this world I’m waiting patiently 🙏 🥰 lol okay maybe not more like at the edge of my seat lol. Hopefully we will get a book about Domini, Spencer and radar. CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK! PS I love all of the covers of these books.I can’t wait to read more work from C.R Robertson

Reading the third book of the series i gotta tell you when the author says Readers of Cassandra Clare and Sherrilyn Kenyon ( McQueen) will devour this book she was not lying because Sherrilyn Kenyon (McQueen) is my favorite author so reading this i was like yessss, It’s slowly becoming my top ten favorite rereads. Tasha and Levi’s story coming to an end is sad but man oh man it was a hell of a ride. I read this one at what felt like lightning speed 🤣🥰. Just had to know how it ended. It did not disappoint, super action packed and omg so cute I love the name Persephone🥰. This series is a definitely recommend this series and start at the beginning you will not regret it.

Welp here I am again reading book two of The Shadow Chronicles series 😀 and just like the first it’s a non stop read. Her unique storytelling of the supernatural world is amazing. I love seeing her take on things like the hellspawns and how she can make you feel the characters emotions as your own. This book is Continuing with Tasha and Levi’s love/action-packed story, picking up where the last one stopped and I can’t get enough of them. I also can’t wait to start the next one.

First time reader of this author CR Robertson. Turns out she’s a brilliant writer, really built an amazing world. Giving you all you hoped for when dealing with supernatural beings. I fell in love with this series as soon as I started reading the first book. Tasha and Levi were forbidden mates who opened the door for others to branch out from within the confines of their own races. When I found out this time, one of the main characters was Kimber, Tasha’s younger sister, I was beyond excited.
Kimber went through so much at such a young age that my heart ached for her in the previous books. Her abuser is now dead but she still has the remnants of trauma caused by her past. Kimber is trying to figure out who she is and where she fits in. She knows she is different from the other vampires and feels she is useless compared to her sister Tasha.
Kimber has no idea how strong she truly is. Her magical powers are rare and almost unheard of nowadays. She is one of a kind and when Fabian sets his eyes on her for the first time, he recognizes this instantly.
Fabian is a shaman, a race that has been around for a very long time, balancing the supernatural all while hidden in the background. This includes magical creatures and magic in general. It’s also his job to protect the Earth from the hellspawn that are all of a sudden appearing everywhere. Fabian is just what Kimber needs to embrace herself. The duo are perfect for each other but can they withstand the many obstacles in their way? While defeating the hellspawn along the way?
I loved both characters instantly. I picture Kimber as this cute and shy girl on the outside with a fiery and powerful inside. Meanwhile Fabian cares about everything and gives everyone a chance to prove themselves. Even hellhounds.
The author once again has done an amazing job with creating this paranormal world of Vampires, Lycans, hellspawns, and now introducing more characters along the way. I really enjoy their style of writing. If you haven’t read this series, I suggest stopping what you are doing and start reading!

Evariste Gage Arsceneaux is a young man in appearance, but he is also a few hundred years older and a vampire, but since losing his wife, he has felt lost, she was the light in his life and without her there, he has thrown himself into work and building up the company he heads.
A couple of days before her well needed trip away, she is called into a meeting with her boss and two clients, this is where a bomb is dropped and she is asked to complete an investigation while she is away, she is not impressed in the slightest and makes it known, but in the end she reluctantly agrees. Evariste has always known that people would want to buy him out of his business and up until now, they have all backed off after the first no, however, the latest annoyance is not being dissuaded, to the point that they have managed to wrangle an inspection and he isn’t in the least impressed and intends to being anywhere but the premises throughout.
When Caitlin arrives at her destination, she is happy with how her visit starts, but as soon as she goes to carry out the inspection, the grumpy workaholic is nowhere to be found, however she is invited to meet him and this is where everything changes. Evaluate, despite his best efforts is forced to meet the investigator, however, as soon as he lays eyes on her, he is ecstatic, it is someone who he has been searching for and someone who could be the answer to his prayers, but can he convince her of all that, or will bring professional win out over the passion brewing between them?
This is a romantic suspense full of action, adventure, twists, turns and of course vampires where you are lead into a world of intrigue and passion and will not be able to put this book down until you have consumed it in its entirety.

The moment the book starts you know it will be filled with passion. Caitlin, must go to New Orleans on business instead of vacation; Evariste owns the company that Caitlin is inspecting. From the first moment the two interact, there is instant connection. Evariste knows that fate had to bring Caitlin to him as she appears to be his late wife. Caitlin doesn’t understand her intense attraction. This was an intense book with constant surprises. If you’re looking for a great fantasy with wonderful character development, definitely pick this book up.

This is an interesting collection of stories. They give a new look into fairy tales. You will recognize many of the characters that give these stories a helping hand. They will remind you of tales that you heard as a child and when magic ruled. The author has brought the old and familiar into the present day. It was nice to see the way the stories evolved and tied together. I enjoy reding new and updated fairytales and this collection had some engaging reads. Some stories and characters stood out more than others abut as a whole this collection was a good read.

This is my first book by this author, but I love all things paranormal, so I gave it a chance. I always go into a book with an open mind, and I am simply blown away by this one! I definitely stayed up way too late finishing it because I had to know what was going to happen. The level of detail was just the right mixture before becoming overwhelming and the story flowed so well. I highly recommend picking this up and getting lost in the story of Caitlin and Evariste/Gage, you’ll be addicted too!

This series has been really good so far! This is the fourth book and follows Kimber, Tasha’s sister. This story really grabbed my attention and so far may be my favorite in the series. We meet Fabian in this book and he is a very interesting character. We learn so much more about Kimber and her background.There is a ton of character growth and I loved that so much. I really enjoy the way the author writes the characters and their feelings. I so enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

When Magic Calls is a collection of fantasy paranormal fairy tales that will surely sweep you away to magical places that are a bit out of the ordinary. This collection will have you looking at things differently and wondering if perhaps there is magic all around us in our everyday lives, in the ordinary things we overlook. Places like a magical museum for instance, that almost seemed to appear out of thin air because nobody could remember it being constructed. Ordinary tales that have taken a bit of a darker twist into something paranormal. This collection was beautifully written with wonderful characters and interesting stories that draw you in and compel you to keep reading. The author did a fantastic job of creating modern fairytales that combine creativity with fun while adding a spooky element to them. I highly recommend this book!

This is a unique collection of stories with a creative twist on the classic fairy tales. Trying to decipher which fairy tale inspired each story was an additional layer to my enjoyment while reading.
I think what I loved most was how the stories weren’t just modern retellings, some ‘origins’ were very difficult to decipher. By the author’s own admission in the beginning of the book, the stories went through many iterations of change to become what they are now, and I think it’s amazing what they were able to achieve.
Another thing I found impressive was the author’s ability to switch between different styles in writing. Each story was unique not only in storyline, but in the way it was written. Timelines were different, 1st person/3rd person narratives were used, some written as letters and so on. The author clearly has a lot of range and it’s brilliant.
I hope to read more from this author in future as I absolutely loved this display of the author’s talents!

The House of Arsceneaux is part of the Servants of Morrigan: Immortal Creatures series. It is a vampire paranormal story that centers around the story of fated mates Caitlin and Evariste. All Caitlin wants to do is go on holiday, but her boss has other plans for her. He insists that she cut into her personal time for a meeting at a property that could mean a huge business deal. The owner is a no-show because he is not interested in selling the property. Caitlin meets Evariste, the owner of the property, at a dinner party being given by his sister and he immediately believes that she is the reincarnation of his late wife. She has no recollection of her past, but he insists that she is his soul mate that he was separated from centuries ago. Evariste encourages Caitlin to travel back in the past with him so that he can show her that they were indeed soul mates that were hopelessly in love. Caitlin is uncertain if she should trust him but if she does not then she risks losing out on the possibility of being reunited with her one true love. I loved the overall love story of Caitlin and Evariste and how it is a testament to true love overcoming being torn apart by time and distance. The characters were ones that I felt a connection to, and I found myself rooting for them to be together after being separated years ago. This was a great read full of action, suspense, danger, drama, secrets, lies, vampires, and love through the centuries.

Man oh man, are you in for a treat with this book! This book had a wonderful and interesting twist when it came to the whole story. I didn’t want to put it down! I had to force myself to go to bed more than once, otherwise I would have stayed up all night reading. Again. Lol. I loved the way the author wrote this book. It’s another take on Immortal Creatures and I just wanted more and more of it. Evariste (aka Gage) is a three hundred year old cursed immortal. His curse started when he lost his wife all those years ago and it’s been plaguing him and his family who were cursed right along with him. He feels the guilt of it all every single day. He throws himself into work, cooking, and fishing. He loves his family and his company, but he doesn’t know all the secrets and lies behind his own life. Caitlin (aka Cate) is on overload. She was recently dumped over a promotion. She is overworked and totally burnt out. Over all, her life is a big old mess right now. Looking forward to a much needed vacation to New Orleans has her hopeful for the much needed time off and away. But of course her boss throws her plans askew. He talks her into staying longer so she can check out a company while she’s on her vacation. Just a small routine background investigation is all it’s supposed to be. But with her luck and how her life is right now, of course it turns out to be way more than what it seemed. She’s forced into the world of Gage’s and his business. When they meet Gage can’t believe his eyes. Or her eyes!! The uniqueness of them stops him in his tracks. He knows them. He can’t help but be drawn to them and her. Can he trust what he sees? Keeping her close so that he can try to spark up some old memories, has him dangling an unwelcomed business proposition up in the air just to keep her around longer. I was thoroughly captivated by this YA collection of modern fairy tales and each story had me happily turning the pages. The stories include a jealous girl in the land of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, who stole a magical artefact from the fairy tale museum, unlocking a curse that puts her life in danger. In the wilds of the Rocky Mountains, a wild girl has been raised by a wolf pack and is now living with them, whilst an obsessive man studies her, but soon just watching her will not be enough for him. Meanwhile, in a city a storm rages and will wake a boy from his deadly dream, propelling him towards the insidious darkness of his ancestry. The collection of stories centres around the fact that even in our modern times fairy tales are taking place all around us, if we only look close enough! This collection has everything from, fear, fate, magic, darker tales, changelings, selfies and cursed objects, to name a few. The authors descriptive narrative, well defined characters and unique storylines had me hooked throughout, and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderfully written novel.

Caitlin has given her YA readers an interesting take on a collection of urban fantasy fairytales. But they are just any fairytales, they are a little twisted and a little deeper with a little darkness. Once upon a time is not the norm when it comes to this author. But when it comes to retellings there is no norm. With lots of imagination and magic along with lyrical narrative at times keeps you guessing as to what retelling tale is coming next. When Magic Calls: A Collection of Modern Fairy Tales by Caitlin Berve is a YA fantasy fairytale retelling collection that provides an enchanting read. This is my first book by Ms. Berve, so what better way to get a feel for her work than a book with lots of short stories to explore. As you would expect from fairytale retellings, this is woven with magic, the paranormal, curses, a little mythology, imagination, fate & destiny, action, adventure, drama, twists, and emotion. Ms. Berve has cleverly crafted her stories in such a way that they are quite unique from the ‘originals’. There are also some illustrations sprinkled through the book too, that add to the charm of the collection. If you love fairytale retelling, short quick and easy reads, and originality, then this might just be the book for you. Happy Reading…

I couldn’t get into a lot of the stories near the beginning and middle of the anthology, but the last story was AMAZING! I also loved the idea of a fairy tale museum, although some of the tales (and it could be reader error, for I don’t know all fairy tales) I had a struggle finding which fairy tale it was a variation of.
Overall, I enjoyed the at-times lyrical prose as well as the varied lengths of the included stories. I also appreciated how magic was a part of every story, given that was the title.

I found this to be a wonderfully creative story. Not only do we get a vampire story, but we get various historical periods and even other legends/myths. [Trying not to give anything away – you just have to read it!] I enjoy the complicated situations the author created to initiate meetings between the main characters, as well as the supporting characters. Their stubbornness, sassiness and sibling torment made the story seem natural. I thoroughly enjoyed the ups and downs and would recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal romance novels.

This is the fourth book in the Shadow Chronicles series and focuses on Kimber’s story. I’m so glad we get to see things from Kimber’s perspective as I was always so curious about her and the true extent of what she went through.
Kimber and Fabian are great. Kimber really comes into her own with Fabian’s help and I couldn’t be happier to watch her develop!
As usual I love the author’s way of writing, it flows well and is easy to follow. In addition to this, the descriptive writing allows you to step into the world they inhabit to join Kimber and Fabian in their journey.
I can’t wait for the next book to be released, it’s going to be great!

This is the third in the Shadow Chronicles series and I never want it to end. I just can’t get enough of Tasha and Levi!
I love their chemistry the believability of their actions and thoughts and their character development beginning to end. They face more obstacles in their battle against the hellspawn and I enjoyed being on their journey with them.
As per usual the author’s writing style is great as it flows well and is easy to follow. The descriptive language creates vivid imagery of the surroundings so you’re never far off stepping into the story yourself.

This is the first book in the Shadow Chronicles series, and it was great. I was hooked from the beginning.
The characters are well-written and they their development as they are hardened by their experiences is believable. I really love Tasha and Levi together; they have chemistry, they’re sweet and it’s forbidden which makes it even more exciting.
I enjoyed the way the book was written, the writing flows well, things are clear and described well. I could envision clear pictures of the scenery from the author’s words.

This is a fantastic addition to the story and I devoured it so quickly. It is an exciting and fast paced fantasy story that is so well written. I loved the characters that this booked focused on. Although it is the fourth book in the series it could be read as a standalone. However, I would highly suggest reading all of the series for the best enjoyment. This book was gripping from start to finish and I became utterly engrossed in it. This is the kind of book that you read in one sitting and still want more, even after it is finished. This is a brilliant book and probably my favourite so far. I cannot wait for the next book.

Magical collection This creative collection of fairytales was engaging. The writing draws you in and the content is unique. Each story was well thought out and took the reader on a fantastical adventure. This just proves that fairytales are not just for children. Recommend.
