Lost in Love (Miss Apple Pants Series Book 2) Charlotte Roth 4 out of 5 stars
Lost in Love is the second installment in the Miss Apple Pants series and I enjoyed it even more than the first. Charlotte Roth is an author I like to keep an eye out for, while her books are pretty different I haven’t come across one I haven’t enjoyed yet. I recommend reading this series in order as Lost in Love is a continuation of the first book, picking up a couple years after the first left off. The story remains fun, entertaining and light hearted. I have enjoyed watching the character development from the first to second novel, and the witty nature of Ella kept me smiling. I would love to see more from this author soon!

Age of Saints: Druid’s Brooch Series: #7 by Christy Nicholas is another great addition to this series. This series is a paranormal fantasy series where each story is set in different times. Age of Saints takes us further back in time to almost where it started and the magic became. It also gives us a look back on of the characters we have seen in the other books and shows them in a new light. Each story is a puzzle being put together for the big reveal. Christy’s writing always you to become one with the story and her attention to detail brings it to life. This captivating story is made more enjoyable due to the paranormal and magical elements. But it is also full of adventure and action, drama and romance.

Yearning Young is the second book in the Burning Britely series by Deidre Huesmann. This series should be read in order because it is a continuation from the first book. I loved how the characters grew from the first book. I was hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last. This book has all the feels my emotions were on a roller coaster ride. This book was told in Braeden’s point of view, and we learn more about his feelings. This YA book touch on many issues and I would highly recommend it to the young and young at heart.

This book was awesome! I have liked every book that I have read by this author and this one is no different. I’m not gonna lie I got a little teary eyed on a few parts of this book but it more than made up for it in the Happy moments. I loved the characters in this book especially when I felt the growth that they both shared and the person growth that each of them went through separately. I am hoping that their story will be continued and we will get to see more of them. I am looking forward to to reading more by this author and I would recommend this book to a friend.

This is a must read second chance story. I found this story to be creative, engaging and I didn’t put it down until the last page. This author has created a story with characters that made me feel as if I was part of the story. The characters are connectable and true to life. Enzo was as tough as can be until his love shattered his heart. Then a second chance with Florian pops up. What does fate have in store for them? Is there a HEA in the future or are they doomed from the start? Find out!
Misfortune of Song: Druid’s Brooch Series: #5 By Christy Nicholas. While this is book five it can easily be read as a stand-alone without any confusion but I do recommend the others in the series also. I’ve come to love this authors writing style as it’s well written and and paced nicely. The characters pull you into their stories and you can connect with them. The storyline is a smooth written and touching storyline. I found myself on a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride more than once. The author knows how to tale readers on quite the adventure with the characters and story that’s being told. I’m giving this story a four star review and recommend it and this author.

Fortitude By Carrie Dalby. This story was an enjoyable read, while I didn’t quite get completely emerged into it I still couldn’t stop until the end. The author does a good job of writing about a time in history that most people seem to forget. It’s well written and I feel well researched. It’s paced nicely with characters you can connect with on some level. I’m not a huge fan of historical fiction but this one wasn’t disappointing, I enjoyed finishing the story the author had to tell. The subjects told in this story are sometimes hard to imagine a world where they existed but I think the author wrote about them well. I’m giving this story a four star review and recommend it.
Devil’s Backbone is the fifth book in the Wild Beasts series by T. Birmingham. This paranormal romance is full of action and suspense. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I would recommend that you read the series in order because all of the books are wonderful reads. I think this may be my new favorite from T. This is Tess and Ben’s story. Tess is a woman who likes to be alone reading rather than talking or interacting with anyone. Ben is a protector and out to right wrongs. This book hooked me from the very first page and wouldn’t let me go till the last. The intriguing characters and plot had me staying up long past bedtime, but I don’t regret the loss of sleep. I highly recommend this book, series and author.

An Appointment was a great 5 star read and book four in the Summer in New York series. This can be read as a stand alone.
I was pulled in right from the beginning. My heart went out to Savannah as she was struggling to find out what was going on with her son and of course I was tearing up when the truth came out. The truth put her between a rock and a hard place on what her next step would be. Her ex-husbands family is very influential and could cause problems for her.
Preston is a Dr. that took over for his father, he wasn’t who Savannah expected but she didn’t have a choice, she needed someone to see her son. He was great, you could tell he cared right from the beginning. He connected so well with both Savannah and her son, who I loved.
Both of them have sworn off relationships but there is something drawing them together, you could feel the chemistry coming off the pages. Can these two put their walls down and let each other in? Can they have a HEA?
Overall I really loved this story. All of the characters were great. This really touched my heart in several ways. Lindsay Marie Miller does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. You won’t want to stop until your done. I highly recommend this book and series. 1-click and get started today.

Hazed by Brittany Butler is book one of the Hazed Series. This book is recommended for readers over 17 due to some of the subject matter. The book does end with some loose ends so be prepared to want to read book two right away. This book is THAT good. I read this book in one sitting and can’t wait to read book two.
Taylor Thompson finally has some freedom. She was accepted to and moved to a college an hour away from her strict controlling father. Now, her decisions are hers to make. Spending time with Hayze Clark seems like an easy decision for Taylor. But little by little lies are told and secrets come out of the woodwork and Taylor’s not sure she has the energy to fix Hayze and the issues he seems to have. Not at the expense of her heart at least. Will these two have a future?
I was so conflicted on how to feel throughout this book. On one hand, Hayze is clearly a lost soul. On the other hand, the relationship doesn’t seem healthy for them. They are both great characters, very realistic and relatable. I just so badly want them to find happiness. This is such a great book!

Age of Saints by Christy Nicholas is the seventh book in the Druid’s Brooch series. This can be read as a standalone and enjoyed completely. This story follows Conall and his sister Lainn. Conall had made an oath to their father that he would care and protect his sister, Lainn. This story shows how even with the best intentions sometimes an oath is difficult to keep. I really enjoyed the story and the setting in what would become Ireland. There was lots of detail but not to the point of taking away from the story. I also was concerned because I had not read the series but this is a great self-standing book. I look forward to reading more in this series and author in the future.

Lost in Love by Charlotte Roth is book two of The Miss Apple Pants series. Book one should be read before reading this book in order to be able to follow along.
This book picks up three years after book one and Ella is just as smart, beautiful and funny as ever. When her father announces a surprise trip, Ella finds herself confused when it comes to matters of the heart. She doesn’t quite know how to follow her heart. Should she revisit the past or take a risk on something new? There is so much wit, adventure and romance in this book. There are plenty of emotions and some heart warming moments.

Immortal Desires is a collection of Paranormal Romances written by various authors! There is something for EVERYONE! I love reading anthologies as they give you a glimpse into the universe that the writer has created and when you love in love with it then you have the rest of the books in the series to dive into! I want to point out a few of my favourites – I absolutely love shifter stories so Alpha at Home by D.J. Bryce that is the opening to her Brothers of the Heart series and Alpha Undercover by Heather Hildebrand were the ones that I went after and if you are like me, you will get a total kick out of them and you will be reaching for the other stories in the series. And then I discovered For Heaven’s Sake by Nicole Garcia that took a bit of a different approach to werewolf shifters mixing with humans! Spell Hell by N.L. Hoffmann was another one that anyone who loves a good story that involves witches, vampires and killings that need to be figured out! It is an enjoyable short read so you don’t have to wait too long to find out who when and why! Vengeance Marked by S.J. Pierce was a short story that grabbed me from the first page, it gave me chills and I could not wait to get into finding out were the writer was going to take us and I tell you, that was one heck of a journey and it was not meant for the ones faint at heart! Flirty Dancing by Jennifer Theriot writing as J.D. Frettier was another one that I still remember and knowing that it is part of a series means that there are couple of other books to pick up! I know she says you can read Flirty Dancing as a standalone but I have noticed over years that one really should start from the beginning as you will have the backstory then! It is amazing how such a short story runs a gamut of emotions ranging from sadness to love …
This book was totally unexpected an WOW! Normally I shy away from these type of books but this one had me hooked!
Eliza endures so much, an ass of a father and a dead husband. Things don’t look good for her BUT enter Nathanial. He’s completely shrewd and rude and Eliza’s next husband because Dad is close to financial ruin. OMG the chemistry, the want, THE EVERYTHING between these two were amazing and then some! I refuse to give away details but the love story needs to speak for itself!
I have fallen in love with this author and this series. I’m on my knees dying for more!

Age of Saints (Druid’s Brooch #7) by Christy Nicholas exciting and engaging, I couldn’t put this book down.
I am loving this series more and more with each book that is release. With no set timeline, this series does jump-a-round, but still has the same connecting elements. This book reads much like a standalone, but I do suggest reading the other books in this series, as they are amazing and just as magically endearing.
This book takes us back, getting us closer to that ever present magic, and of course were it all began. This book for me, out of all that I have read, is truly the best so far. Maybe it was because it was so far back in the timeline, or, that there was more magic, danger and raw emotions, that seemed to spill of the pages. Whatever the case, I was hooked, and before I knew it, I was done, feeling a little hollow and disjointed. I didn’t know what to do with myself, only to hope that there will be another book. I need another book.
And that is where I will leave you. I don’t want to ramble or gush too much, because I don’t want to spoil this read for you. Just please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will drown in this otherworldly book, full of magic, danger, and the strong emotional bonds of family.

I have had a lot of fun reading this Druid’s Brooch Series! I never knew how much I would fall in love with the idea of fantasy meeting history concept until I had delved into these novels! Misfortune of Song is the 5th book in the series, and you don’t have to read these in a particular order or start in a particular spot. However, I would highly recommend reading them all! The experience is completely worth every second and each and every book is laden with characters, scenery, and history, all beautifully combined for an epic tale.
In Misfortune of Song we meet and follow Maelan and his teen daughter Orlagh. We visit a magical and gorgeous (Christy Nicholas paints the scenes with her words.) 12th century Ireland full of the Fae, druids, and rich in Celtic lore. I felt as is if I was on vacation amongst the hills of Ireland, and it was perfect timing since I read it right around the Ides of March and St. Patrick’s Day. I can’t wait to find out what will come next from the ever talented Christy Nicholas!

Seraphina’s Revolution by Sheena Hutchinson is the fourth book in the Seraphina series. This series does need to be read in order as it follows the same characters and each book is a continuation of the story. This series honestly just gets better and better. Normally once I get a few books in I start to get bored of reading about the same characters but that hasn’t been the case with this series. Each book is exciting and fast paced. I love jumping back into Sera’s character each and every time. I feel like you really get to connect with her emotions and her journey. Considering at first this was a series I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it is how one I would highly recommend!

Gwyn McNamee is by far one of my all-time favourite authors. She has a brilliant writing style that flows effortlessly and she creates stories that are captivating and engaging and that is not different from the collection of books in the Slip Series. Made up of the books Dickslip, Nipslip & Beaver Blunder, Gwyn McNamee has created three easy quick romantic comedies that are funny, romantic, steamy & captivating and to top it off they have some wonderful characters. I like that each book connects through one of the characters that you read about in the previous book, it brings the stories to a whole and ultimately ties each character’s story together. All the characters are strong, relatable and ultimately make each story better! Even with each story having an embarrassing moment there is something light-hearted about these reads. These are great reads that shouldn’t be missed – you will be laughing out loud and feeling for these characters along their journey. Don’t miss these reads!

Misfortune of Song is the fifth book in Christy Nicholas’ Druid’s Brooch series. The series tracks a magical object – the brooch – as it is passed through the generations of an Irish family. Each book is set at a different point in history, jumping between different centuries. Misfortune of Song is set in the 12th Century. I’m so impressed by the levels of detail in the historical setting. Every time I read one of the books I think “oh wow, Nicholas must specialise in this era in history” and then I read another and it has the same depth of description. I really feel like I’m being transported back in time. It’s so vivid and informative and specific. Maelan is a fantastic leader. He has a strong moral compass and values traditions and rules. He seeks to be fair but maintain control, and is waiting to find the right person to pass that control onto. Like many great characters, his strengths are also his weaknesses. He struggles when presented with unfamiliar scenarios and those that set his moral beliefs up against the traditional values he seeks to uphold. For me, this is a five star read. I’ve not quite managed to read them in order, but I don’t think that has detracted too much from my enjoyment of the book. Once I’ve read them all, I might go back and read them in publishing order (and then in chronological order of events – so many possibilities!). I’d thoroughly recommend them to anyone with an interest in Irish history and Celtic fantasy!

Fortitude by Carrie Dalby takes place in the late 1890’s. One thing I have to say that I enjoy the most is that Carrie Dalby can pick apart historical time and test the limits of what others may think when they were there in the flesh. This story has romance (forbidden love), danger, racism, acceptance, secrets, drama, and emotions that run high at times. The story is set in the Spanish-American War where racism and Jim Crow laws are happening. Claire is the female main character and one who pushes the buttons around her. Claire is a smart and strong but ends up in the wrong time period. She is a nurse who is tending the Buffalo Soldiers. She enjoys working with the black soldiers and that is start of the problem. There is such an emotional response to what is going on and intense hatred is astonishing to me. It was hard reading some of the story because I was on this emotional ride and not sure how to feel at other parts. I highly recommend this book and maybe we can get our students to read this story so that they can grasp the reality of the past and maybe learn from it so it does not repeat again.

Well, this was way more than I expected. I expected cute and happy and what I got was a wonderfully told story with some heartbreaking moments. I loved that this was full of emotions, all of the emotions, and Charlotte Roth was not afraid to put it all out there. There are times that a book like this could feel forced, cliche almost, but I don’t think this is one of them. I think it was smartly written and controlled so as not to be too much so to speak. This is the second story involving these endearing characters. I haven’t read the first book yet but I will soon and I will be keeping my eye out for the next one. I’m hoping that I will get answers to some questions that I have in the next one too.

A fantastic continuation of the series’s i was hooked once again loving every minute. I absolutely adored the relationship between the brother and sister they way they work and care for one another is truly beautiful. I loved how this isn’t just full of magical enchanting fantasy but also packed with suspense that keeps you on your toes and even alittle bit of horror it’s safe to say the series’s gets better and better what a fabulous storyline!!

Fortitude by Carrie Dalby was a pretty okay read, that shed some light onto a dark dangerous time.
Not my first read by this author so I knew going in that the writing would be smooth and the plot well researched. This book was such, though I do have some things that aren’t sitting quite right, and that’s mainly the ending. I wasn’t satisfied, or felt like it tied anything up like an ending should. Now it wasn’t bad, I just felt that, it didn’t quite fit with the overall story.
Let’s get into it shall we. Well written and engaging, I was pretty hooked on this book, but I wasn’t fully absorbed. From the synopsis I thought the plot would be fast moving and thriller like. But this turned out to be a completely different type of story. The start was slow, but the easy flow of the writing made it enjoyable. I just felt there was a disconnect somewhere, and I don’t know if it was the misguidance of the synopsis, or the MC herself. I guess the best word would be flat, there were some flat areas that drew me out of the story.
Now don’t get me wrong, this is a very well researched and compelling story, and I loved the friendship and message. I’m just on the fence about it a little bit. But as you know reading is subjective and what I didn’t like, you might. So just because I had some issues, and as I said this isn’t a bad story, doesn’t mean you will as well. So please take my recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will find the message and selflessness, as endaring and captivating, as I did.

Catherine is offered a position to start of a branch of the talent agency she works for in Las Vegas. She loves living in New York, but Vegas intrigues her, so she readily agrees. But then actresses start dying and it looks like one of her client’s may be responsible. But her ability to be able to tell truth from lies says it wasn’t him. So who did it? And does she have a chance with this sexy client?
This was an enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery/romance. I liked the premise of the talent agency as the start of everything and the main subject of the series. This wasn’t a very long read and it was fun. I do wish there was a little more depth Catherine though. I couldn’t really connect with her on a deeper level and I would love to know exactly what happened to her mother. Other than that, I did enjoy it. Her abilities were not something you see every day and Alex was interesting also.
I enjoyed this story and recommend it to those who love these types of books. I cannot wait to see what the next book brings.

Lost in Love (The Miss Apple Pants series Book 2) by Charlotte Roth was a sweet, emotional read, that got me in all the good feels.
The second book in The Miss Apple Pants Series, and I have to say, Charlotte Roth has outdone herself. I did have some mix feels about the first book, but once I saw the second and remembering the loose ends from the first book, I had to pick it up. Now before you dive into this wonder, this is a continuation series, so I highly suggest reading the first book, or be prepared for major spoilers.
This book was pure emotions. Sure there were still some issues with filler and going down the rabbit hole, but it fits so well with Ella’s personality, that I didn’t mine it as much as I did in the first book. I will say that the ending, that soul fire, kick to the chest that melted my heart, felt like it took way too long to get too. I get it, real life isn’t that fast, but, I felt like this big adventure in Europe, took too long to get to the point, as to why Ella was there in the first place. Again I don’t know if this was done to up word count, but this book would have been just as impactful, if it was more compact and maybe even novella size.
Overall this sweet tale was heart clutching, and you can feel the love, sadness, longing, from each character. There was this one scene with Thomas as the start, where I literally felt his heart pain, longing, and just plain old pure love.. and then I wanted to slap Ella for not seeing it, or better yet, not wanting to see it. Damn it all, my heart is all fluttery, happy and just melty.
With that said, please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will get swept away by this weird combination of, Sleepless in Seattle, Eat, Pray, Love and happy ever afters.

Yearning Young ( Burning Britely Book 2) by Deidre Huesmann. This is the 2nd book in the Burning Britely series and its told from Braeden’s side. Its such a good, emotional book. Braeden has always been the popular rich kid and now that he’s been expelled he doesn’t know what to do. He’s finally realizing his sexuality is not what he had always believed and his parents are already crazy enough he doesn’t want them to find out. He stays at home to take care of his siblings but when his sister tells him to leave he begins to question why he’s staying there. Jeff is now his boyfriend and its causing his other friends to alienate him. His home life, his relationship, his school life, he’s left questioning everything when he used to be so sure of everything. This is a great book about young love, sexual struggles and home life problems. Braeden has to deal with a lot more than most kids his age but will he come out ok? Read Yearning Young to find out!

This book was amazing! I think it is probably one of the best books that I have read so far this year. I absolutely loved book 1 so I was really excited to read the second book and I wasn’t disappointed at all. The authors writing had me captivated from beginning to end. Her characters are amazing, well thought out and just a joy to read about. In this book again Matt and Mikaela’s story had me hooked from the very beginning and brought out a whole host of emotions whilst reading it. I absolutely adored the characters; I truly wanted the best for them both. The author isn’t afraid to write about things that aren’t nice to think about and cancer definitely affects everyone in some way or form. I think that because of this I found this such a relatable story. This is a continuation story and so should be read after book 1 and I know that if you have read book 1 and were desperate to see what happens next then you will not be disappointed. This is truly an amazing story and I loved every second of it.

Yearning Young, Burning Britley Book Two, by Deidre Huesmann is the second book in this series and is in Braeden’s point of view as where book one was in Jeff’s point of view.
Braeden has always been popular, always seemed put together. Behind the scenes Braeden is dealing with a mother who abuses pills, a father who enables his mother, and Braeden always protecting his siblings. Jeff comes into his life and Braeden falls. His falling for Jeff caused him to be expelled and his less then understanding friends not wanting to understand sexuality and his relationships with Jeff. All the negative is not helping the fears Braeden has venturing into the unknown with Jeff. Quickly things heat up with Jeff and they get closer, which only brings more questions and fears with Braeden.
This is a book and series that is raw and a coming of age about two boys learning about each other and guiding through a new relationship that many don’t or won’t understand. I simply loved diving into the world of Jeff and Braeden, the only issue I had was the book was not as long as I would have liked. I like a lengthier story when I feel such a connection to the characters and the storyline. This is a well written book that I highly recommend.
Hazed is the first book that I have read by Brittany Butler and one that I really enjoyed. I liked the real feel to the story and I found that I was easily engaged in what I was reading. The author’s writing was really good, real, raw and emotional at times. I liked that I didn’t find the story too predictable either which meant I was guessing what was going to happen. I liked the characters, I think they are characters you need to get to know and I found that the more I read the more I learnt about them and the more I liked them. There were some difficult subjects in the story but the author wrote about them well. Taylor and Hayze both had their own problems and I really felt like I was right there with them, particularly Hayze and just wanting the best for them both. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
