I read the blurb for this book and passed it over several times before I cracked the binding. Yes, the beginning is dark and horrible and should not be over looked.
This story is a fast read. I read it in about 3 hours and when I looked at the page count, I was surprised to see that it is over 200 pages.
Told in dual POV over a 7 year time span, FEATHERS grabbed me from the very first page to the very last word. It is emotional and moving and light and hopeful – even in the darkness.
I think this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will absolutely be picking up the novella mentioned at the end of this book.
While I’m not sure I would recommend to my younger cousins, I would recommend if you enjoy New Age/College stories.

Broken Sand Dollar by J.D. Boudreaux is the third book in the Sand Dollar Series. I really recommend reading the first 2 books before reading this book. The story continues with Alex and his development and progress in life. I really like the story has not always followed the progress I thought it would take. The turns are great and very well done. Alex is a wonderful character whose kindness has brought wonderful relationships into his life. Each of these has helped him to grow as a person and all served a purpose in his life. I have really enjoyed this series and the realness of the relationships. The characters are not perfect and each has their own issues to overcome. I like how the author has handled the situations and made everything relatable. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

It is a sweet, clean, second chance romance that has some secrets, angst, and a little drama. 5 Star Black Bullet ( The Order of the Senary) by L.D.Rose is a intense paranormal/fantasy book that will keep you on the edge of your seat with all the action,danger.Theres even some romance. The Devil’s Shadow is the fourth book in T. Birmingham’s Wild Beasts’ series AND you absolutely need to read the stories in order as there are so many threads that come from the previous books that give us this complex story of dark and light! You will wander in the dark and get frustrated like hell if you do not do so (I know some people say it doesn’t matter but…well, I do not agree! I have read most of her books and oh my goodness, the imagination that the writer has … she still keeps blowing my mind with how she can go from paranormal to wounded warriors … in one breath … The Devil’s Shadow is the story of Ginny and Kieran and their journey towards each other and their destiny of being fated mates … but that is only the main thread of the story, there are so many other threads that get their answers though well, the writer does leave us with more questions and impatiently waiting for the next instalment! You will cry and laugh and your heart breaks and there are moments that touch your heart and leave you with hope … I cannot wait what the writer will bring us next!

Vortex by Kimberly Packard was an heart pounding, original fresh read, that had me flipping the pages.
My first read by this author, I jumped in without much research into the book, and I was pleasantly surprised. Richly detail and fast moving, I found myself falling more and more into this uniquely refreshing read. I will say that if you are a fan of the 90’s movie twister, then you will love this book, as it had some similar themes.
This book was truly an outstanding read. The writing is topshelf and the MC was solid, complex and well rounded. She really pushed this story and it fit in perfectly with the equally solid and complex plot. I loved the added mystery of her past and the heart stopping moments that surrounded the storm chasing. Attention to detail was another driving point, I swear I could hear the swirling storm as I was reading.
So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will get captured by this heart clutching, emotional, pulse jumping read.
Annie was my favorite character from the first book in this series so I was thrilled that this book centered around her. The revolutionary war has also been of huge interest to me so huge win there too! One of my main problems with the first book was that the jump to different times was confusing me but for some reason the jumps to Germany and whatnot were easier to wrap my head around timeline-wise.

Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy #8) by Jen Talty was a fast pace, fun, entertaining read, that had me hooked.
My first read by this author and for this series, don’t be put off by the number, though this says book eight, it reads as a standalone. I fall right into this story and no point did I feel confused or felt like I was missing something. Nicely balanced and witty, I very much had a good time reading this unique book.
Right away I was pulled into this book, I’m not going to tell you how it opens cause I think it’s a nice little surprise and a fun treat. After that opening we meet Annabel, right away I liked her, and that doesn’t happen very often for me, to actually like a MC right out of the gate. She was fun, witty, and someone I could see wanting to be friends with. A very strong MC, Annabel carried this story, and really made up fro some of the weaker areas.
Overall this book, as I have said, is a super fin read, and you will get hooked right from that unique opening. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will have a time reading this quirky rom-com.
Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1) by Keith Nixon was a heart pounding thriller that had me hooked.
My first read by this author and for this series. I have to say I was hooked right away, and I didn’t stop reading until the last page was flipped.
Richly detailed, and emotional, this book will take you on a raw heart clutching ride, from a murder mystery to our MC’s going through the memories of the days following and losing his son. Detective Solomon is a solid character and extremely well rounded and multi layered. Not a perfect person, the flaws make him relatable and realistic.
Having such a strong MC, mixed with an equally as strong and solid plot, you have the perfect storm of books. I was engrossed and absorbed into this book, and frankly I didn’t want it to end. Full of twist turns and misdirections, you will not be bored. This book holds your attention, there is no filler or lulls.
So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that this book is worth your time and energy, and I swear you will not be able to put it down.

Jane Suen is one of those authors who doesn’t have a formula for how a story is written. I’ve read many of her stories, and each is different from the other – she writes with a poetic style that is ripe with metaphors and stylist visuals.
On 12/14/18 I lost my mother and as I read COMING HOME I wasn’t sure what to expect. This is the sequel to Flowers in December so I knew what the basic premise would be and I was a little worried that my heart would break a little more. This story did the opposite for me.
It’s a tale of healing and moving on. A beautiful telling of putting a life back together. It’s a lovely and quick Christmas story that I read and enjoyed in one sitting.

There Be Demons by M.K. Theodoratus is the first book in the Andor Demon Wars series. If you love YA novels then you should definitely give this book a go. This book has been centred around some pretty great characters. Britt I found to be really likeable and a great heroine for this story. It was easy to get behind her and want to know more. This book is obviously going to be part of a series as it was all about setting the scene of what is to come. That being said it still had a lot of action and adventure to it and has definitely left me excited for what is to come. Feathers: A Novel by Kylie Stewart is an amazing story with such a journey that has left a mark in my mind and my heart. Charlotte has endured so much in her life, so much pain, loneliness, due to her mothers boyfriend that sold her for drugs. A gang kept her for a year, treating her so horribly and finally she was sold and was able to escape the hell she endured. Being free Charlotte vowed and made a promise to herself to never love a man, and then Hawk comes into her life. They both find trusting each other easy, after both having issues and fears. As time goes by, the passion, the caring, and the trusting builds. But both being jaded, the questions will raise, can they overcome the past to lead to a beautiful future together.
This 5 star read was intense, emotional, dark, and one that I SIMPLY LOVED and did not want to put it down. The journey both take was real and so raw. From the dark subjects, to the passion, to the steamy scenes, I just wanted to stay lost in the land of Hawk and Charlotte. Kylie Stewart really gave us a read that will leave its mark. The characters, the meaning of feathers, the story line simply are SUPERB! I will be waiting and watching for WINGS!!!

Oh how I wish I was a writer so I can put into words all the emotions surging through my entire being right now! This book completely shattered me and ripped my heart to pieces and then slowly picked up the pieces. This story left an imprint on heart and soul so deep that it will stay with me forever. The author is a literary genius and I have to thank her for giving me the opportunity to go through this journey of tragedy, life, love, hope, healing, and so much more. The author balanced both sides of some of the political issues that comes with this so expertly. I felt like I knew these characters and felt the emotion jump off the pages. I am a huge fan of romantic suspense and psychological thrillers and Ms. Anderson certainly gave me an excellent one! From the first page this book had my attention, the author did a great job peaking my interest and holding my attention. This story had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. At one point I thought I had the killer figured out, but no, the author pulled a quick one. There were several twists and turns within the story I couldn’t tell what was going to happen next, truly a mark of a good author and I look forward to ready the rest of this series.

This was my first time reading a book by this author. Cozy mysteries are not my usual read, but I had a great experience with this one. The cat’s perspective is amusing and the human characters are really well written. Overall it was a fun read and I’d suggest this book to people who are looking for a fairly clean romance with their mystery. And also, mystery solving cat…I think that speaks for itself, lol.
This book is unlike any I have read before. It takes the angel/demon mythology to a whole new level and though it did take me some time to get used to the terminology, the story gripped from the beginning. It is very easy to underestimate a YA story and think of it as challengingly written but I personally love the genre so when a book like this comes along and changes that perception I am very happy. As I read this story I found myself pulled in by the imagery of the surroundings and the build up of the characters at the same time. This is the first in a series and though I may need a break to reset my brain, I am excited to tackle the next one. I will just have to remember my demonology when I do.

There Be Demons Andor Demons Book 1 by M.K. Theodoratus. This is a hang on to your seat young adult action book. Its the story of Britt Kelly a young girl struggling with her parents divorce when she is having to fight demons she never believed in. She and her friends become demon hunters and they Gargoyle Guardians on top of all of the everyday struggles of a teen. Crushes, heart aches, and magic! Britt is a strong young lady and she and her friends are going to save their city and survive their teenage years. This book is full of friendships, magic and mystery! Trouble’s Wedding Caper is book eight in the Familiar Legacy by Jen Talty. A first read for me from this author, and although I am coming into the series rather late, I feel it is better late than never. Stories of finding love the hard way are some of my favourite, and I haven’t come across one that didn’t warm my heart. I felt good things about this story and I was not disappointed.
Annabel goes home with a broken heart, and ends up with a unit full of treasure. But even that has trouble attached. She is a train wreck. Along comes Ethan and a black cat, and total chaos reigns supreme in her life. She falls hard for him and her run of bad luck seems to bed relentless. She doesn’t want to risk giving her heart only to have it broken again. This tale is energetic, suspenseful, intriguing and funny. Trouble was the cherry on top of a fantastic story. I connected well with the characters and was always eager to turn the page and learn more. A brilliant tale that made me anxious to go back to the beginning and start from book one. 4 stars.

Seraphina’s Initiation (The Seraphina Series Book 2) By Sheena Hutchinson
I loved this book just as much as the first one. We get to know more about Sera and watch her grow and learn how to use and control her powers. We also get to know Nate more and serious he takes to teaching Sera and trying to find out what’s going on around them. This story is full of action, danger and so much more and kept me on the edge of my seat. The author does an amazing job drawing me into the story with such detail that I feel like I’m right along for the ride. I suggest that you read these stories in order for a better experience and understanding of what’s going on. I highly recommend this awesome book it is a gem.

The Devil’s Shadow was a great 5 star read and book four in the Wild Beasts series.. I was once again pulled right in by the author and couldn’t stop until I was done. This was a great storyline along with being a paranormal/mystery read.
Why do we desire, above all other things, that which has the greater power to destroy us?
This is Ginny and Kieran’s story. I quickly fell for these two, I really liked Ginny’s strength. These two were definitely meant for each other. The connection between them was great. There are several twist and turns that will pull you in and add more to this great story. Will they solve the mystery behind the abductions?
My emotions were all over the place. All of the other secondary characters added a great element to the story and were very unique. We get suspense, action, mystery and so much more. You can read this as a standalone but I highly suggest reading from the beginning, this will help you connect better with the characters. .

I absolutely adore anything with Gwyn McNamee’s name on it, so I am naturally biased I will confess that up front and center, but this is such a fantastic steal you just have to grab this, I know I did and I got a few extra for some fun gifts for a few gal friends. I have read Dick Slip and Beaver Blunder and laughed so hard I nearly peed myself (no shame I have had c-section LOL) they were that good, so when I went to grab the third and saw the box set well hell yes I will take three LOL! I included my reviews that I did post of the other two books. I will have to come back and update some more when I get through Nip Slip but I am sure it will be just as hilarious and fantastic! Can’t wait to see what will come next from the ever fabulous Gwyn McNamee! Happy reading!

This was such a lighthearted and hilarious novella. Obviously, the laughs start just by reading the title, so imagine how much fun can be had between the front cover and those magical words… The End. In fact, I will say the only downside to this story would have to be the length, simply because I had fallen in love with the characters so much I wanted more from them. It is a standalone so that is another positive, but if you enjoy this book I would also recommend checking out the rest of Gwyn McNamee’s novels as they are all great.
Rafe was there for the charity, this was supposed to be a fun basketball game between him and a bunch of other celebrities. Unfortunately for him, fate had a different idea in mind. One little wardrobe malfunction and suddenly he is in the middle of fighting for his career and having to show up at his boss’s office to answer for this incident.

Beaver Blunder is the third novel in Gwyn McNamee’s Scandalous Slip series. I have laughed till I had tears running down my face. I have yelled at my kindle, and the characters as if they were right in front of me. This novel, as well as the other two before it, completely overtook my life for a few hours and I loved every minute of it.

The concept is we are humans. And in being humans we make mistakes. The most brutal ones often come with some hilarious moments and memories that will forever be with us, or haunt us, depending on how you look at it lol. In Beaver Blunder we meet Madeline. On the most important day of her career she just happens to be fresh out of clean underwear. No problem as long as she has a little grace right? Yeah, she doesn’t have any grace, what-so-ever!

Madeline never thought she would see Owen Grant, a fellow attorney who just happens to witness her most embarrassing moment of her life. It is a hot and steamy, and HILARIOUS, story of how they get from this one embarrassing moment to the very end of the book. I can’t wait to see what is to come next from Gwyn!

This was a wonderful sweet and emotional story. I truly became invested in Natalie and John and their outcome. There is so much loss in this short story but also so much love. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, it kept me completely captivated and I couldn’t put it down till I got to the end. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series. I highly recommend this book.

JD Boudreaux really has rounded this series out beautifully with ‘Broken Sand Dollar.’ I am sad to see these characters and their stories end but when an author writes it so well you are at a peace with it that you really can’t complain, a rarity that you will find from us bratty readers! {lol it’s NEVER enough} So, kudos really for doing so well with that here. I would highly recommend that you read both books one and two and in order before you start this one for the maximum enjoyment of the series and the book, and well so things just plain make sense.
Broken Sand Dollar really threw me for a loop when it came to Alex. I had expected things to turn out way differently for him than they did, and I am actually glad they went this way. Everything made such perfect flawless sense in the end, much like life often does, even though we never really understand it in the moment. I can’t wait to see what will come next from JD Boudreaux. I am positive it will be just as outstanding as her Sand Dollar series, if not better! Happy reading!

THE BILLIONAIRE AND THE THERAPIST is a “clean” take on the typical male billionaire/beholden female story.
This is a quick story that was filled with absolutely every cliche… From the protagonist’s family to the size of his plane (and no that is not a euphemism for the size of his – well, you know), this story had it all. The story moves between events seamlessly with each chapter setting up the next.
There are secondary characters who help move the story forward and some are super annoying while others are interesting. Some of them just ticked me off based on their hypocrisy against events and people.
The cool thing about this book is that because it’s a clean/Christian romance (no sex, limited swears, not afraid to discuss Higher Power) I would have no problem recommending it to an elderly ladies’ book club or a younger person who was interested in exploring different styles of writing.

I have had the chance to get a bit of a taste of Jen Talty’s work in various anthologies here and there and really have enjoyed each story so it was quite a no-brainer for me when I saw the cute cat detective story pop up on my fee for a quick afternoon read. I was a tad cautious, although open-minded, going in because this is book eight of the Familiar Legacy books. I had absolutely no issues picking up right here though, just discovered a sweet series of shorts that I will get to go back and enjoy in the near future. I will say this isn’t a meaty story. It is what I like to classify as a light and fluffy book, something to break up the serious full series reads maybe, so that would be a note for myself and probably a reason for a four star rating as well for me personally.
In Trouble’s Wedding Caper we follow the feline detective and his caretaker Annabel on quite the mysterious little rendezvous. Annable finds herself at a storage auction and with a unit of unknown items. Even cannier is the previous owner really wants them back. Throw in that the local cop she enlists for help ust happens to be a old friend and crush. What will she do about that? Grab a copy today and dive in to find out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed that you did! Thanks for the great little read Ms. Talty.

The Devil’s Shadow is the fourth book in the Wild Beasts series by T. Birmingham. This book could be read as a standalone, but for maximum enjoyment I would strongly recommend you read the series in order. This fantasy book is full of wonderful characters and the action and suspense kept me wondering what would happen next throughout the book. Kieran and Ginny have such a connection, I was rooting for them beginning to end. This series continues to amaze me and this is one of my favorite book by T. Birmingham. I highly recommend this book, series and author, and can’t wait to see what book five will bring.
A Cold Dark Place (Cold Justice #1) by Toni Anderson is a gripping serial killer story with lots of suspense and a hot romance. The plot is well developed with several tantalising twists and turns that will have your heart pumping. Working toward the same goals but using different methods, exactly who is right or wrong. Secrets and lies that go beyond the realm of legal but again who is right or wrong. This is a fast paced story with a great mix of romance and mystery, deceit and suspense.
Alex has many secrets, but one he wants to walk away from, one that could destroy his chance at real happiness.
Mallory has lived her life under the spotlight of a terrible childhood tragedy, one that has led her on the path she is on today, but through it all there is only one thing that matters and that is finding the one person she loved more than anything in her life.
I am interested to see what the next book in the series brings.

Seraphina’s Awakening by Sheena Hutchinson was an interesting and refreshing read. This was my first book by this author, and I have to say that I was impressed with her writing style. It’s always interesting to come across something new that will captivate the reader. I have to say that the entire time that I was reading this book, I kept wondering what was going to happen, and how the story would develop. I was definitely left with wanting more after finishing this book. I can’t wait to read what happens next.
This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew me away. I love a good suspense romance but this book exceeded all my expectations. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters. I was hooked on this book right from the beginning. These characters drew me so much I read this book in no time. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible book.
Daniela Franco had the perfect childhood. She and her best friend Christina did everything together. Daniela was so excited to start college but tragedy hits. She lost her innocence and a beautiful life. Now Daniela doesn’t trust anyone. She stays out of the party scene and concentrates only on her school work. Daniela loves her job and boss. She is working one day and this handsome stranger comes in and she can’t take her eyes off of him. Daniela feels safe with this guy but she doesn’t understand why. Daniela and Nathan get to know each other and they become really good friends. Then she starts to feel like someone following her. Is Daniela’s past coming to even the score or is it all a misunderstanding? Will Daniela find the true love she has be dreaming about or will her life turn into a nightmare once again?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, mystery, suspense, and healing. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Daniela is a strong woman that had a horrible incident happen to her. She is one of my all time favorite female characters of this year. Nathan is very handsome with a great heart. He wants to protect Daniela from all the bad in the world. The way he treats her will make your heart melt. There is some very sensitive issues that can trigger some people. I think the author handled these topics in a respectful manner. These characters will have a place in my heart for years to come.

A great read about opposites. Gillen is a gargoyle warrior trying to protect the world from demons from another world invading and hurting people. Stretched thin, he and his team try their best as imps attack the docklands with more ferocity than ever before. When the Angeli Commanders finally send their hosen warriors, Gillen thinks all their problems will be resolved. But he is in more than he expected and is tested to his limits. Can he rise to the challenge or is he stuck in his old ways? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just simply couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Britt standing up for herself but caring underneath or Cahal sarcastic but kind and supportive underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the kind and supportive father figure Uzeel or the strong minded Treasa. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the sense of overcrowding with the small spaces and the city full of life and people all jostling for space in the flats. Or the authors wonderful sense of imagination with the vivid colours of purples and reds and greens of the monsters with horns and fangs terrible but beautiful or absurd but still believable with creatures like Abraxas. Or the use of smell throughout with the horrible odors so strong and pungent it is as if you were actually there. Or the gargoyles themselves as something new in the fantasy genre as a wonderful mixture of wings and tails and ears for a creature that is magical but still believable and beautifully written. I loved the authors fun sense of exploration, with new creatures and powers with their own rules and societies and hierarchies and laws existing side by side with humans. A wonderful addition to the fantasy genre. This was made more compelling by giving the gargoyles more humanity with Gillen’s worries and anxieties or Uzeel’s kind supportive nature or with the instead of just being cold superior beings angels usually are in literature. this made them more realistic and sympathise more with their problems for a great read. I also loved the way the chapters alternated between the realism of high school life and the fantasy of the demons combined perfectly for a great read. The use of thoughts as part of the narrative was a brilliant addition and worked well to display the different characters struggles and worries Fast paced action and high stakes in a fantasy world made for a highly captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.
