This was a really enjoyable read. The author does a great job building her characters. You can help cheer for the lead character Miranda as she goes through her life.

Miranda thought her life was set in stone. Married to a man for 25 years with kids being a housewife and mother. However that all changed when her husband admits to an affair and wants a divorce.

I could hardly wait to get a hold of this book. I love this series so much and after reading book #3 I was praying it was these characters that came next.

This one touches a bit more on some different kinds of relationships that are kind of hard for me to understand, simply because I just don’t understand, but the best part about that is, it doesn’t require me to understand as long as I can feel the connections and the emotions and the feelings. I did that in spades! One of the best parts of this series is the connections being built between ALL of the characters, the family feel of this group that amazes me since they all really aren’t supposed to be friends much less like a family. Hard to explain but it’s the incredible job this author has done with everything that makes it all possible and also feel very real!

There was one person in this story that I’ll be honest I had to go back and figure out exactly who he was as he played a short part in a previous book and then roared into this book and quickly became one of my favorites.

This installment had everything from making me laugh, making me sad, making me angry and also feeling physical pain for one of our characters. Oh my gosh I could hardly stand these scenes because they were written so well I could imagine and feel it all.

I’m skirting around names and storyline because I really just believe these must be read in order and mentioning anything will give away a few things from the previous books. You really need to start at the beginning to get the full experience of these amazing characters.

I can not even wait for the next in this series and I pray that this author never changes her style because it is unique and completely addictive.

Loved it!!

When you are in a living hell, is there no escape. Until one day you find a miracle but will Tillie be able to take the chance and leave or will she be thrown back into hell.

Tillie has lived through hell, being brought up within an MC were women are lower than low and used as play things. Tillie has a dream to escape hell and try and forget about her life with the MC and one day she has an opportunity to do just that, all she has is a name and the world but is it that simple.

When she leaves she doesn’t realise that she has walked out of one hell into another and has to try and circum navigate this new world to survive all over again. Family secrets are revealed and Tillis is drawn between two worlds.

This story is not your fluff romance story by any means and at times it is hard to read but the author provided just enough honesty and integrity to draw you into the story. I loved the character of Tillie although she had so much tragedy and heartache this only made her into strong character she was in this book.

The twists and turns in this book were brilliant and although it was a difficult to read at times this enhanced the emotions within this story. This is the first book I have read by this author and can’t wait for Part Two.

Jinxed (Hell on Heels, #2)Jinxed by Maggie Adams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jinxed is the second book in Maggie Adams’ Hell on Heels series. It focuses on Sadie Beauchamp, a natural healer who faces some difficult decisions and whose life is made more difficult by the fact that she appears to be being haunted.
Sadie has a great group of friends around her. I particularly like Mitchell, whose down-to-earth approach balances Sadie’s worldview. It was also great to catch up with Miranda, the protagonist of the previous book in the series, and the other “sisters”.
Jinxed is a fun, short book – great if you’re after something you can read in an afternoon. The main story is nicely resolved, with the promise that another character’s story will be told in the next book. It gets four stars from me, and I’d recommend it to rom-com fans, particularly those interested in holistic medicine.

Wow….where to start with this review. I was pulled in right from the beginning. I will warn that there are scenes that may cause triggers for some. My heart went out to Tillie. The first scene we come into is heartbreaking, what Tillie is put through is so devastating, especially when some involved are people who should be protecting you. When she turns 18 she flees the MC to try and get away and start over. She is given an address to go to for help.

This is where her second nightmare starts. She gets some shocking news on top of running into a similar situation she had just left. But she is feeling things slightly different than she did with the MC. Will she be able to get away and finally find a safe place? Or will the boys pull her into their world?

Overall this was a great dark reverse harem read with so many twists and turns that your head will be spinning. I felt like we actually got two different stories in one. We also have several hot dominating men that will have your head spinning. You want to hate them but yet you can feel the attraction between them and there is a heck of a cliff hanger that will leave you wanting more now. This is my first read from this author and I loved her writing. It’s hard to find a really good dark book and this one had everything I love about them. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This book is going on my must read 2021 list. 1-click and get started today.

I love a good book about friendship. I story that brings unlikely friends together. This story was a short and fun read. The author gave us what we needed to enjoy this book. The characters were interesting. I enjoyed how quirky Sadie is. She gives me loving vibes. When her past comes beck to haunt her she is hesitant to tell her soul sisters. What she failed to remember is that family takes care of family no matter the problem. Then there is Mitchell. He is so protective. He really tries to save everyone. That need to keep others from harm shows that he feels like there was someone that needed him that he could help. I loved the bonds and dynamics between all the characters. The haunted house part was wild and fun to see the spin the author took with it. Overall a good read.

Trigger Warning for this book. This is the first book I’ve read by Fay, but it won’t be my last. Fay has a dark romantic mindset and it shows.

Tillie is escaping one horrible life for another. When she runs from the Demon Jokers she is given an address. What she doesn’t know is the address is her mother’s. The quote I chose for Tillie is: “Give me more, I can take it. I want it.”

Logan is Mob Boss’s son and gets what he wants. His friends are equally as dangerous. When he meets Tillie his life is going to be turned upside down. The quote I chose for Logan is: “I wouldn’t get too comfortable, baby girl, people around here end up disappearing without a trace. I’ll be watching and I will find out why you’re really here.”

Highly recommended for Dark Romance lovers.

The blurb caught my attention immediately and what followed kept my attention…..
I’ve recently started reading Historical Romance and I must say it might be one of my new favorite genres.
This thrope was also completely different than anything I’ve ever read. I love that Zdenka disguises herself as a man!!! Also it was a nice change of pace that it didn’t take place in US or England.
The characters are extremely well developed and the side stories also bring something extra to the book.
It was a bit ‘wordy’ for me that’s why I gave it 4 instead of 5 but it’s honestly just my opinion. I like shorter books

Kissing the Kavalier by Annette Nauraine – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur .

Kissing the KavalierKissing the Kavalier by Annette Nauraine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zdenka Waldner is a Countess, her family live on a farm in the country, but unfortunately they are about to lose it all because of her father’s gambling debts, so the family decide to go to Vienna where her sister Arabella can début into society and hopefully find a handsome and rich husband who will help to solve all their problems. Matteo Von Ritter is Lieutenant with the Kavalier Regiment in the Austrian army and has just come back from the Battle of Königgratz where he and his regiment have been injured in a brutal battle and he is still recovering from his injuries when he attends his Aunts social event, he is only there to support her, but when he is introduced the the belle of the ball, suddenly things don’t seem as bad.

As Zdenka and Arabella prepare for another event in the social butterfly’s calendar, Zdenka is as usual dressed in men’s clothing and acting as Arabella’s chaperone as her younger brother, although maybe she is enjoying her freedom a little too much despite the pressure on them to find Arabella a good match before the final event of the season. As they approach their destination, they pass an elderly man on the stairs who trips, but they also see that a handsome soldier helps him back to his feet, at least there are some good people still in the world, unlike some of the suitors who are arrogant and only wanting of a pretty trophy to marry rather than a woman who has her own mind. That is until the hostess introduces the pair to her nephew who just happens to be the soldier from the staircase, Zdenka is quite taken with him, but it appears he is also quite taken, but not with her, much to her disappointment, with her sister. Meanwhile Matteo is trying his hardest to get through the event with his sanity in place, but the people are loud and obnoxious and albeit the music is pleasant, he feels the need to soothe himself with alcohol, that is until he meets the fair Arabella and makes her acquaintance. As the evening passes and he gets to know her a bit more, he is slightly annoyed at how her brother is always hovering, although he isn’t unpleasant to look at either which is disturbing to Matteo as he has never felt like that towards another male and this makes him even more uncomfortable, if that is even possible.

Later on Matteo speaks with his cousin and together they devise an elaborate plan for Matteo to show his interest in Arabella via her brother and so a scheme is started where Matteo will bond with Zdenka, in order to gain favour with her sister, however, as a friendship begins to blossom and they learn more about each other and what they want out of life, Zdenka to run her families farm and Matteo to help the veterans of war when nobody else will, Zdenka is realising that it is becoming harder to hide that she is not in fact male and add that to the fact that Matteo cannot abide lies and liars and she is both, but as letters begin to be exchanged, little does Matteo realise that he is actually conversing and falling in love with Zdenka and not Arabella.

Will Arabella and Zdenka’s elaborate hoax be discovered and what will this mean for them and the family farm, will they be able to save it, or will they lose the only home they have ever known? What will Matteo do when he finds out about the deception, will he accept the truth, or will this finally be the final straw which breaks his heart forever? This is a fabulous retelling of a famous opera, but with an alternate storyline which is as compelling as the original one.

ANGUISH (THE JOURNALS TRILOGY BOOK ONE) AUDIO BOOK by D.M. EARL was such an emotional listen. I was warned but was not ready for how deep it would hurt to listen to all that Quinn went through. The story was well organized and I could feel the emotions in every chapter. I felt like the pacing and dialogue moved the story along well and I did not feel lost. I could easily have finished it one day if the subject matter did not make me have to take a break. I got super invested and found myself reacting as Ivy did in the book.

The SEAL’s Temptation: Wounded Hearts- #7 by Jacquie Biggar

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by Biggar. It is the first book I’ve read in The Wounded Hearts Series. I’ve got to say that this book was amazing.

Maggie is supposed to be on paid-leave. When the man that runs the ranch catches her heart. Then she’s back to work and he’s injured. The quote I chose for Maggie is: “No, it was nice —listening to you joking like that. I can tell you’re close.”

Frank didn’t know what he needed until he met Maggie. Knowing what she went through and knowing how to handle PTSD episodes. He finds himself falling in love, but pushes her away. The quote I chose for Frank is: “Sure, whatever you need. But you might want to think it over. It’s quiet here. No one to push you into doing anything before you’re ready. Don’t rush away, Maggie. You’ll only hurt someone if you do, and I don’t think you want that. I’ve been in your shoes. PTSD is a b****, make no mistake. It creeps up on you when you least expect it and tangles with your head. Do you really want to be in charge of a weapon when that happens?”

Highly recommended for Romantic Military Suspense lovers.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and now she has a new fan. I love a good cowboy romance but this author exceeded all my expectations. These characters hooked me into their story right from the beginning. I could not put this book down until the end. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

Stone Dempsey is your typical cowboy that can have any girl he wants. He loves training horses. Stone meets the beautiful Emmy Cole. She is not like all the other ladies at all. Emmy is a pediatrician and she loves her job and she knows a playboy when she sees one. When Stone’s sister drops off a sick baby he has to learn how to be an adult really fast. He also can’t get the beautiful doctor out of his mind but is there something more? Will Stone be able to get the girl and be a good parent to his niece or will it be all too much for this cowboy?

Electric Temptation (The Protectors Series #5) by Toya Richardson

Not the first book by Richardson that I’ve read. So far The Protector Series is amazing and each book gets better. I hope this series continues.

Delilah is running once again. This time it isn’t from the man she loves. She’s running hoping the Trackers don’t find her. Running into the arms of the man who saved her last time. The quote I chose for Delilah is: “Damn straight it didn’t. Now, may I suggest you get lost?”

Mason has never forgiven himself for being the cause of Delilah running. He catches wind that she is in danger. He hopes to get there in time to save her. The quote I chose for Mason is: “Sven’s right. You will be fine with us. Come. We can take you to a place you’ll be safe. I’m Mason, by the way.”

Peaceful Slumber (Soul Connection, #1)Peaceful Slumber by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thought I had read other books by Nikiki Lynn Barrett, but to my surprise this is the first! I am so excited to have found a new to me author that I like…no that I love! Even the cover is great and I really don’t care about covers!

Peaceful Slumber is a mystery with a little romance, with a little paranormal, with a big adventure! This is a story that I could not put down. I had to know what was going to happen, who was going to do it and why it was happening! Barrett put just enough suspicion in this story that anything was possible.

I love stories that touch on social situations. Barrett has chosen mental health. While it is a very serious topic, her story gives a little hope to those who also suffer. Finding that one person who is your one is hard enough and being anything different makes it even harder.

Zelda is the female main character and Barrett really puts her through every tough situation you could think of. Except Zelda doesn’t remember any of it. Including her own name. Scott seems like the only one that could help her. They are both lost souls who are a little different and they are perfect for each other. However, with so much unknown in this story it doesn’t look like there will be a happy ending.

The storyline is ORIGINAL…at least from my list of books. I really love this story!

I highly recommend this story and can not wait to read anything by Barrett! Since this is the first book in the Soul Connection series, there will be more!!!

If you are a fan of historical romances and bold, independent heroines, then Kissing the Kavalier by Annette Nauraine is definitely for you. I am a sucker for a story full of history and culture, and this book earns 5 out of 5 stars from me. I seriously cannot recommend it any higher, and if I could give it higher than 5 stars, I would. Set in 1867 Vienna, this book is not only steamy and romantic, but contains many aspects that make it a great read. The characters are well-built and fleshed-out. The protagonist, Zdenka, disguises herself as a man in order to chaperone her sister during her quest to find a husband. Posing as Arabella’s brother, Zdenka finds herself falling in love with Lieutenant Matteo Von Ritter, a possible suitor for her sister. This is a fast placed story. I have not read the others in this series and I was easily able to follow along. This isn’t just a story about Maggie and Frank. It really encompasses her team with overlaps into his team how they all work together against one common goal. Did one character stand out over the others? No I didn’t connect with any One particular.

There is some fluff( in my opinion) in here that seemed more like it was to fill pages instead of being any part of the stories. Maybe it wouldn’t have bothered me if I had read the previous ones about the kids abduction.

Overall this is a good story. It does flow well and the author does a good job of thing all the strings together near the end.

Spiteful Punks by Madeline Fay is the first part of the Dolls and Douchebags series. This is a pretty dark and intense story that really is for the faint hearted. I think It is important to note right from the start that this book could potentially contain triggers for some people so caution before reading is advised. The author has done a great job of creating a dark and twisted world in which the main character has been through so much. This has created a depth to the character that adds another level to the story as a whole. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for most of this book and I really enjoyed that I was. This is a brilliant story and one I would recommend for anyone who likes this genre.
