The SEAL’s Temptation (Wounded Hearts Book 7) by Jacquie Biggar – Review by Josie Coletti

The SEAL's Temptation (Wounded Hearts #7)The SEAL’s Temptation by Jacquie Biggar
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a slow starter for me at first, but the storyline eventually caught my attention – probably should have started with the first book in the series. Overall, I felt it was a good read with drama, action, intrigue, and romance. The characters were believeable and interesting. Definitely going to go back and read the books from the beginning. I felt ikke I was missing much of the plot not having read the first 6 books. Overall a good read and great way to spend some quiet time.

Revelations: When Separate Worlds Collide Book OneRevelations: When Separate Worlds Collide Book One by Izzibella Beau
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the start of a wonderful YA series! The MC’s come to life on every page and keep you hooked for the duration of the book – for me it was easy to hear their voices and see them standing before me like a movie. Any YA fan who has a love for a great story will not be able to put this down by the end of the first chapter. Zach and Emily give you the heartwarming storyline, whereas Jacob and the others give you the necessary drama to make everything realistic and have it all come together. Nothing and no one in this town is what it seems to be. The ENDING!! I cannot wait for the next installment of this series. I will be waiting (im)patiently on the edge of my seat until it comes out. Do yourself a favor – read this book, get hooked – and read everything else by this author. It’s truly a treat. Revelations: When Separate Worlds Collide Book One

Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1)Can Dreams Come True? by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Can Dreams Come True?
Cecily Taylor
Krysten Lindsay Hager
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a full length YA novel. A clean and safe story for those 12 and older. I highly recommend you buy both books together as you/your reader will want to go to book 2 as soon as they finish book 1.
Cecily takes a chance and goes with her friend to a video shoot. Mainly because the video has her favorite singer in it, and she is in hopes of seeing him. She wants to be an actress someday so this would be a great start. However her boyfriend becomes so jealous and does the unthinkable. Her best friend sees red, and gets totally mad. But with all stories this one says it as it is. What will happen between these 4 teens? How will Cecily survive the many avenues this adventure will take her?

Krysten Lindsay Hager writes this story from the mind of the teenagers. The story is fast paced and keeps you reading. I love that Cecily and Andrew totally get each other. The characters are true to the teenagers in high school, we have all been there. You will find this story will keep your teens reading, as well as yourself. I will most definitely recommend this story to all teens. Well Done Krysten Lindsay Hager! Well Done!

Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1)Can Dreams Come True? by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in The Cecily Taylor Series. I really enjoyed this book and it is a great read for YA. Its a story that reminds you what it’s like to be a teenager. The characters are easy to relate to and the story is full of teenage angst and first love romance.

Cecily  Taylor had always dreamed of becoming an actress and she gets her chance when her friend auditions and Cecily gets offered a place in the video.

The best part for Cecily at least is that it for her favourite singer ever. She has had a crush on Andrew Holiday for ages and now she has her chance to get to know him.

Cecily’s boyfriend Zach isn’t happy with all the time she is spending with Andrew and Cecily doesn’t understand why.
Can Zach keep his jealously in and keep his girl or will Andrew win the day and steal her away?

Revelations is the first book in the Separate Worlds series by Izzibella Beau. It is a paranormal romance, a coming of age story with shifters, teenage angst, high school drama, and interesting characters.
Emily has no idea that moving to a new town will turn her world upside down. She will soon discover that there is far more to the town, and the residents, than she could ever have imagined. So, find a comfy spot and settle in for some shapeshifting fun.
There were a few instances where the dialogue felt awkward or stilted, but overall, it was a fun read.

Thank you, Izzibella Beau.

This is the second book in the Hell on Heels series. I highly recommend reading the first book to have some background knowledge. The plotline is engaging. The characters really bring life to this story. Sadie is a small store owner. She is a holistic medicine woman, an empath, and a crystal collector. She is a free spirit and five soul sisters that share her abilities. They help keep in the here and now. She does have a business partner who is in the occult. The problem is that Sadie’s past is coming back to haunt her. What will happen to Sadie? Will her past be her undoing? Will there be someone else that she needs to stay clear of? Fake Fiancé (A Second Chance Office Romance) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Heidi Schoolman

This is an Office Romance audio book and is about 3 ½ hours long.  This story follows Adeline and Stone.  Adeline lands her dream job and although it is in Italy, she transitions to another country with great hopes.  But her boss is something else and not in a good way.  Stone is in the midst of renovating his hotel and even though he is ridiculously attracted to Adeline, he makes her his fake fiancé to seal the deal on another hotel he has his eyes on.  This was such an outstanding story that had a little bit of everything in it!

What a wonderful story! Sadie and Mitchell are adorable in their attraction for each other. Sadie’s group of “soul sisters” are a very eclectic bunch. Mitchell jumps to protect Sadie when he hears that she is on trouble. Her store may be haunted? Noises and disembodied voices calling her name? Is it ghosts? Mitchell is determined to find out! A story of learning to trust in others and to trust that you can do anything as long as you start true to yourself.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sadie Beauchamp is a crystal loving, holistic medicine performing, bangle and caftan wearing woman who is one of a group of friends who mean the world to each other, she also believes in spirituality and the life of a hippie, herbal teas and divining the future, however, when she goes to a palm reader to get a reading to do with the dreams and anxiety she has been having recently, however, when the reading is not a good one and she is given a warning and practically pushed out of the door, she finds that she cannot hide her fears from her friends anymore, especially when she announces she has to leave because of parts of herself she has kept secret for years.

As she talks about how she thinks her house is haunted and that she has demons chasing her, but practical as they are, the group immediately put a plan into action where they will take her to see a reputable doctor for a full health check, calling on Mitchell, the brother of one of the ladies as he has experience in investigations and solving problems. After eating and drinking, they finally convince her to spill the secrets she is so insistent on keeping close to her chest and the result is not what they expected in the slightest and they struggle to see how this information could be so dangerous to them, let alone Sadie herself, but she eventually agrees to Mitchell helping her out, despite the fact that he broke her heart the last time she saw him and they have no idea it even happened. Two days later and Sadie is at the airport picking Mitchell up, she is a bag of nerves and cannot deny that she is still attracted to him and that he makes her heart and boy do things she doesn’t want to and he insists on driving as she fills him in on the current situation.

When they get to her apartment, Mitchell insists on staying and investigating the things causing her anxiety, but much to Sadie’s horror, he moves the furniture out of place and proceeds to tell her that he will be sleeping in the same bed as her as well so that he can protect her. Will Mitchell be able to solve the mystery of her present, the conundrum of her past while she tries not to get her heart broken again? This is a romance with a dark twist which is as unpredictable as it is romantic, but will keep you hooked as you travel along Sadie’s path with her.

Revelations (Separate Worlds Book 1)Revelations by Izzibella Beau
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Revelations by Izzibella Beau is the first book in the Separate Worlds series. This is an interesting YA Fantasy story with two great characters right at the heart of it. I was drawn into the story from the moment I started reading by the writing style. The author has created an imaginative story and one that I could picture so easily. Zack and Emily just added to this. I wanted to know more about the mystery that seemed to surround them and see where their journey would lead.
This is a relatively new author to me but I already know I will be reading more from her in the future. I enjoy everything about her books and find them exciting to read.
I am looking forward to book 2 already.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The first installment in the Hell on Heels series by Maggie Adams is a hoot! Minx is a romantic comedy jam-packed with laughs, tears, and relatable situations. The protagonist, Miranda Blake, is a middle-aged wife who has centered her life around her family for the last twenty five years. When she suddenly finds her world flipped upside down, she must rely on her best friends for help. The characters are real and relatable and the story is engaging. I found this to be an easy read as I became invested in the characters and what was going to happen next. I recommend Minx with 4 out of 5 stars, and will be looking forward to reading the next installment.

Jinxed (Hell on Heels, #2)Jinxed by Maggie Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I previously read the first installment of Hell on Heels and enjoyed it. I loved this one even more. My only complaint about this book is that it is too short! This is a fun, easy-to-read story that contains steamy romance and witty characters. Sadie, our protagonist, is a healer and is concerned that she’s being haunted. She relies on her “soul sisters” (who were introduced in book 1 of the series) for guidance; however, one of them has a brother, Mitchell who just so happens to be Sadie’s complete opposite. She wants nothing to do with him, but the universe obviously has different plans. The dialogue between characters is witty, and this keeps up the pace of the story which definitely makes it a page-turner. I recommend this book if you are looking for a quick and light-hearted, but steamy, read. This 5 star book will not disappoint.

Jinxed Hells on Heels #2 by Maggie Adams

This is the second book I’ve read by Adams. Jinxed is another great read and I loved every minute of it. This is a short read.

Sadie has been running from her past for twenty years. When things are going wrong she turns to her friends. When one friend calls in her brother things seem to get worse. The quote I chose for Sadie is: “If that’s true, I have to find out what’s in that vaccine and fix it before the final trials. If I can’t, then I have to shut them down.”

Mitchell is a retired FBI Agent. When his sister calls saying that she needs him there he goes. When he finds out that Sadie is the one in trouble he really helps. The quote I chose for Mitchell is: “That child just about kicked my a** a minute ago! And I was getting the information we needed.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Comedy lovers.

Miranda is an older woman who has been married for twenty-five years. Now her ex husband wants a divorce. Her friends rally around her and help her figure out her new single life. The quote I chose for Miranda is: “You guys love me, you have to say that.”

Reed is the big boss of the family company. His younger brother Ritter is going around telling everyone that he and Miranda are in a relationship. The quote I chose for Reed is: “Why do you insist on wearing these stupid shoes? You are going to kill yourself! Do you realize you could have broken your neck? Falling over the edge of the railing? My God, isn’t that how you met Ritter, tripping over in heels landing in his lap?”

Highly recommended for Romantic Comedy lovers.

Effie Kammenou is a believer that it is never too late to chase your dreams, follow your heart, or change your career. She is proof of that. At one time, long ago, she’d hoped that by her age, she would have had an Oscar in her hand after a successful career as an actor. Instead, she worked in the optical field for 40 years while raising her two daughters.

In 2015, three years after the death of her mother from pancreatic cancer, she published her debut novel, Evanthia’s Gift, book one in a women’s fiction, multigenerational love story and family saga, inspired by her mother and her Greek heritage. Kammenou continues to pick her father’s brain for stories of his family’s life in Lesvos, Greece, and their journey to America. Her interview with him was published in the nationally circulated magazine Reminisce.

Evanthia’s Gift: Book One in The Gift Saga was a 2016 finalist in the Readers Favorite Book Awards.  Waiting for Aegina: Book Two in The Gift Saga was awarded finalist status in the 2019 International Book Awards and Chasing Petalouthes, the last book in the trilogy, had also placed in the Readers Favorite Book Awards for the 2018 contest.

The second book in her latest series, The Meraki Series, has recently been released. Both Love is What You Bake of it and Love by Design are contemporary romances following a pair of sisters and their quest for love and professional success despite their sometimes stifling and meddling family. But it wouldn’t be a Kammenou novel without a delve into the past, or the references to mouth-watering foods.

Effie Kammenou is a first-generation Greek-American who lives on Long Island with her husband and daughters. When she’s not writing or posting recipes on her food blog, aptly named Cheffie’s Kitchen, you can find her entertaining family and friends or traveling for ‘research.’

As an avid cook and baker, a skill she learned from watching her Athenian mother, she incorporated traditional Greek family recipes throughout the books for a little extra ‘flavor.’

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts from Hofstra University.

The Seal’s Temptation is the seventh book in the Wounded Hearts series by Jacquie Biggar. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I enjoyed this book, even though I wish I had read this series from book one. I will be going back to the beginning and probably re-read this book. I was sucked into this story from the very beginning. The twists and turns have my emotions scrambled. This book is full of action, adventure, action, and romance triangle. This book goes into details about PTSD. I think Ms. Biggar did a great job bring this issue and others to light. I would highly recommend this book, but you should try to read the first six books first.

Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes, #2)Shift Happens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Although this is book 2 in the series, it is a standalone.
This was a brilliant light hearted romance. Sophie has followed her best friend and moved to New Orleans. Now that she knows about the supernatural, she wants to fulfill her dream of being recognised as a witch; after all she has her late grandmother’s grimoire, so she must be a witch.
Getting bitten by a werewolf and being accused of cursing the werewolf pack was not in her plans. Trace just wants to find his best friend and he thinks he knows just the witch responsible, only he hadn’t counted on biting and being so attracted to her.Together they try and solve the mystery of the missing wolf.
I loved the interactions of all these characters, the lighthearted humour just made it so much more entertaining.
I listened to this book on audio and the narration from Hollie Jackson is top class and she brings such a warmth to the characters that you can’t help love them. I would definitelyl isten to other books narrated by Hollie.

Man this book is small and mighty and packed with intrigue and a dash of romance to boot. I really was quite taken back how short this book is but how effective the story was. The author has really packed this book and it lives up to the saying good things come in small packages.#

I really liked Sadie and rooted for her from ths start. I am so glad that she stayed and fought. The author really brings her to life and with her friends I felt as though I was right there with them. I could feel all her anxieties and fears. I really like how the author has written this and find her refreshing. I will definitely be reading more from her and this series.

This is the second book in the Hell on Heels series and I really enjoyed this. It is a short read but you get a complete story and it’s a gripping on.

Sadie is an empath. She believes in all things spiritual and she is living her dream running her crystal shop. However things aren’t what they seem when secrets in her past come back to haunt her.

Add to this a lover who returns after breaking her heart and Sadie has 2 mysteries  to solve.

Can Sadie and Mitchell work out who is trying to harm her and stop them? Will they finally get together or is Sadie setting herself up for heartbreak again.

I loved this book. This is an author that has continued to impress me with her writing skills and her attention to details that make her stories feel realistic. This book is no different. This is the fourth book in this series which I highly suggest reading from the beginning to help your enhancement of this series. I loved being pulled into the story by the characters. This is a fast paced fantasy story that kept me not only engaged but turning pages to the end. This is Jaru’s story. All he wants is to prove himself so he opens up a business until his life sinks back down. He doesn’t have much time for his best friend and starts to question whether or not he is good enough for him. This is where the story takes a turn and if he will save his best friend and their relationship? I loved these characters and what they bring to the story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

He’s attracted to her, but buries it…or tries. Plenty of dips and turns in this book as we get to the heart of Throttle. And that twist at the end!!! Unputdownable from beginning to end!
