Secure Her (The Chase Security Series Book 4) by R.L. Dunn – Review by Gail Guerrero
Four Stars
I think steam was coming out my ears while I was reading this story. I could feel there desire through the first pages. Zach lost so much and yet he couldn’t keep his need for a sub at bay. But the guilt was too much. Saoirse is a very strong woman who happens to be naïve about love. While reading this story I noticed that Saoirse clashed with herself a lot. With who she portrayed herself to be and who she felt she wasn’t. I liked how the author put the plot together. It had a nice flow to it. There wasn’t a moment that you were not engaged. I felt the characters had developed nicely. Not my first book by this author and certainly not my last. This series is amazing and tied together by the need to protect those who can’t protect themselves.

I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, unpredictable and the writing just flowed! Although Dre was a very different character to what I was expecting, once I learnt more about her background I could understand why she was the way she was! It was great to read about a independent, modern woman who wasn’t afraid to be a spitfire! The characters were all well developed and the plot had just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from N.D. Jackson!

When Alex is suffering from a serious case of writer’s block (and the deadline for his next book is looming), his best friend Luke takes him up to the mountains to help Alex find that spark. Luke’s other best friend, and friend of Alex by association, Penny joins them on the trip. While opening Alex’s eyes to what it takes to survive in nature, Alex’s eyes are also opened about his feelings for Penny. While there is a “bro-code” between Alex and Luke, Alex finds it harder and harder to keep his thoughts from straying to Penny. When they realize they have a mutual attraction, they decide to act on it. Should they be honest with Luke at tell him what’s going on? When they are forced to end their trip early and come home, doubts start to creep into Alex’s mind about whether or not this thing with Penny can survive back in the city. This causes him and Lucas to argue…and Alex to doubt if he is worthy. I found myself drawn to Alex’s character because I can see myself in him (minus the childhood and background issues). However, I believe Penny is good for him and forces him, gently, out of his comfort zone to see the person he could be. I enjoyed the story and, like most readers, want to know what happens next. Overall, a good story.

Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes Book Two) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen was a great listen. I loved Sophie in the first book and she just shines in this one. You do not need to read/listen to the first one to fit right into this one. Trace and Sophie were on fire and I loved their interactions. I loved the twists in the story and the dialogue felt genuine.

The Executive’s Decision (The Keller Family #1) by Bernadette Marie
4-stars
I highly enjoyed this romance read from beginning to end. I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop once I got started. I was really intrigued by Regan from the get go and I couldn’t wait to read more about her and see how her story played out, and I was not disappointed in the slightest.
This story flowed really well, there was so much detail that I found it really easy to picture everything playing out in my mind, which kept me highly entertained. I also loved all of the secondary characters in this story, they added so much depth and I hope to read more about them in the next book of the series as well.
This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read!

This is a Dark Romance and is 278 pages. This story follows Jordan, an escort who uses alcohol and drugs to get through the days, and her shadow, Hunter. Jordan was raped when she was younger and that is why she is who she is now. So yes, there may be some triggers in here for somebody. This is an emotionally gripping book, one that I just could not put down. This literally pulls out all the feels while you are reading. What an epic read!
Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1) by Kristen Lindsay Hager is a sweet and light young adult story about coming of age, falling in love for the first time, navigating through the plethora of emotions attached to growing up and giving your heart to another. Discovering your soulmate is a major part of your life and Cecily and Andrew’s journey is memorable and heartwarming. A girl who finds herself thrown into the path of her first crush is a dream come true, and reading their story was a nice change from the steamy and raunchy stories I love to read. This story was a refreshing step back into the world of first love and all the dramatic emotions involved in that journey. 4 stars.

Auctioned by Via Mari a feisty four-star read. This is number three in the Billionaire Bodyguards series, and just like the first two this is steamy and seductive. This was a great story and has so much push and pull and Bryanna and Damien both have fierce protective instincts, and that can sometimes lead to explosive action. There is some great chemistry in this one, and some great thought put into the worries of the characters, they feel deep and complex and add something to the story.

Hacker a suspenseful four-star read. This is number two in the Mercenaries series, I haven’t read number one but didn’t feel like I was missing anything from the previous story. This had action a plenty and drama was definitely a foot, there was some romance and sizzle, but it wasn’t the be all and end all. Fast paced through this story and has enough characters that you are kept interested but not enough that you get lost. Marie and Hacker will make you care and want to know more about them.

I loved this MC story. I have read most if not all the books in this author’s MC series. They just keep getting better and better with each one. Her attention to details make the story feel realistic and her stories are well developed. The characters are relatable and keep the story engaging. Hot, bad boys on motorcycles, what more could you ask for. This is a story of action, romance, and when fate steps in you have no control over what happens next. I loved being pulled into this story from the beginning. The characters just bring the story to life and really made the story for me. I highly recommend this book and this author.

I enjoyed this romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her yet. This is a well written story that has characters that bring the story to life and romance to a new level. They are engaging and relatable. They kept me turning pages to the end. This is a story about Willow and the journey she is about to take. She has let feelings stand in her way of happiness until now. What will happen when Gunn walks into her life? She is determined not to let her guard down for him but will she change her mind? They have great chemistry and made such a cute couple. I enjoyed watching the growth between them which made the story fun to read. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Regan Keller fell in love with a wealthy and powerful man once, her boss. Zachary Benson is the head of a successful empire and used to getting what he wants in the boardroom and outside of it, and what he wants is Regan Keller. When Regan’s past threatens to destroy the architectural firm Zach has invested his entire career in, he has to make an executive decision whether to choose his business or fight for the woman he loves. The writing flows very well and the story line is great. This story kept me reading until the end.

Cassie Rodriguez is a first-year psychology student at Kirk University. Love is the last thing on her mind. But during tutorials with her gorgeous seminar lecturer, Diego Valentine, Cassie’s feelings go past platonic student-teacher relations. Can Cassie and Diego act on their feelings, or must they keep their forbidden love a secret? This novel is written really well and packs a small punch in the short space it’s given. This is written from Cassie’s perspective.

Secure Her by R.L. Dunn is the fourth book in the Chase Security Series. This can be read as a standalone story but has recurring characters from other books in the series. This book is focused on Zach and Saoirse. The two end up making a dynamic pair but are faced with all sorts of danger before getting there. When the two are involved in figuring out a human trafficking ring a lot of dangerous situations occur. Will Zach be able to get Saoirse through to the other side of this situation safely? I have enjoyed this series but this book really has a lot of twists to it which added to the thrill of Zach and Saoirse meeting and having to work together. I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author in the future.

Chris “Hacker” Montgomery devotes his life to his computer and his teammates. Marie Costa is part of the mafia family in Montreal. This is the second book in the Mercenaries series. It is romantic suspense. It’s full of action, suspense and strong characters. You are pulled right into the story and the author really just doesn’t let go. It is a well written book and really is a great addition to the series. You can read it as a standalone but I do think it’s better to read the first book before hand.

Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1) by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a delightful, breath of fresh air young adult novel, and I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Cecily Taylor experiences all the things a teenager goes through: the ups and downs of friendship, love, and everything that comes with growing up. Her favorite singer, Andrew Holiday, is holding auditions for his new music video, and Cecily takes a chance. Although she has to contend with the jealousies of her boyfriend and friend, she lands the role in the video and gets closer than she ever expected to Andrew Holiday. Can all of Cecily’s dreams really come true? Find out in this first installment! This is an author and series you don’t want to miss out on!

Auctioned is the third book in the Billionaire Bodyguards series. It can be read as a standalone. Great read with some action, suspense, danger, and, of course, romance. Even though this book has the requisite steamy bits, I liked the story line more. It’s a fast-paced tale so it’s easy to get sucked in and read it all in one sitting. Some readers may find the subject matter sensitive in nature.

Perfect book for a light afternoon read. I love reading taboo tropes and this book was no exception. It wasn’t as dark and sexually explicit as I’m used to read it leaned more towards a NA. That being said I was pleasantly surprised by the characters and the way the Author describes the surroundings and “feel” of some of the scenes. I’ll definitely be keeping a lookout for the next books in this series

Secure Her (Chase Security Series Book 4) by R.L. Dunn is another brilliant book in the series. I mean what can I say about this author and her Chase Security stories, other than get on board people, you will love them. The wow factor in this book makes it my fav to date. With dark and twisted unsavoury characters, human trafficking, violence and cruelty and everything thrown at operatives. It is bound to make not only them but you cringe as they are put thought their paces trying to stop the evil that is every bit as real in this world today as it is in the story. Needless to say emotions run deep.
Zach a Chase Group undercover operative is thrown together with Saoirse an Attorney and Federal Agent that knows nothing of the life she is thrust into. Zack must teach her everything he knows and keep her alive.

A tale of love, betrayal and little town charm to keep the pages turning. The heroine Dre with just enough sass and badass to to keep you guessing. Be warned This book has some spice for you young adult readers but not so much you’ll be embarrassed to recommend it to your mother. It is a romance that you can’t help but root for. I don’t normally read Romance but I got to say this story just leapt off the page and I was invested in the lives of Dre and Erick before I knew it.

At present, she is writing two series. A Paranormal Romance Series, which she is self-publishing. Book three, Sweet Salvation, The Protectors Series will be released 10th April. She is also four book in to a Beach Reads series, which is with a publisher.
She’s also working on a new paranormal romance series called Hybrid Lovers and is partway through Captivated, which is book one. This one is a ménage between two Hybrid angel/vampires and their human fated mate. No release date as yet. A contemporary romance/comedy Christmas Novella is also planned for this year.
Writing has been her passion since a very early age when her mum encouraged her to use her imagination. Sadly, it wasn’t until the death of her mum, who was also her best friend, in 2009 that she started to take it seriously. Her mother’s wish was to see her published, which didn’t occur until 2014. And now, each book she publishes is dedicated to her.
When not writing, or reading, her main hobbies are; cinema, theatre, live bands, gardening, keeping fit, travelling, Formula One racing, darts and spending time with friends.

10 Days by KJ Holliday is a rom com holiday story. This fun read is about a camping trip set to free thoughts of a writer who has writer’s block and thus the fun, adventure and shenanigans begin. This city boy meets country girl story was told from Alex’s POV and I found his sarcastic inner voice funny even when I had to do a couple of double takes. The story felt like it was written for a younger audience as well. The premise is good but I found it to be missing something to take it to the next level. It’s refreshing to see a story that is not about the norm.

This fast-paced breezy romance story is about a novelist, Alex Jones, who was facing a writer’s block which was proving a hindrance to his next novel. Two of his childhood friends, Luke and Penny convince him to take a camping trip to clear up his mind and have a new perspective. Alex Jones is not very fond of countryside and camping, which is completely out of his comfort zone. However, he decides to go along with his friends. In the matter of 10 days, he ends up falling in love with Penny, which was never a part of the plan. This makes the situation even more hilarious with Alex’s sarcastic inner voice nudging him frequently. His feelings towards Penny and his awkwardness on how Luke would react if he knows the reality forms a very interesting plot. Set in the cradle of nature amidst the country side wilderness, it is a breezy love story. You will enjoy reading it.

I was pulled right in from the beginning. Cassie had a rough night of partying and tried to go to her first tutorial very hungover. Let’s just say it didn’t go very well for her. She managed to embarrass herself in front of her very handsome tutor.
Diego is younger than the usual professor and hot. Something about Cassie intrigues him and he looks forward to tutoring her. They start to get closer and feelings start to develop. Will they be able to keep things professional or will they give in to their feelings?
Overall I really enjoyed this Novella, it was a quick read. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. The characters were easy to connect with. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and start reading today.

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University Book 1) by Diana Vale. This is a new to me author but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more. This is a short read as stated and I still found myself enjoying it just as much as longer reads. At first I had a little trouble connecting with the characters but that was short lived and when we found our groove I was definitely hooked. The characters are complex and the storyline is well written and paced nicely even though shorter I still got everything I wanted. Four stars and highly recommended. Ready to see what else this author has to offer.

Best Of My Love: (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson. You ever start a book and just think to yourself “yep this ones gonna be good”? I definitely had that moment when I started this one. The characters pulled me in without any trouble and I was ready for their journey. The main character Dre may be one of my favorite characters the author definitely hit the nail on the head with her story. The storyline is engaging and well written with characters I found myself falling for easily. My one sad note to add was when it ended , I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Five big stars and highly recommended.
