Stormy’s Thunder: Satan’s Devils MC Utah by Manda Mellett – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur

Stormy's Thunder (Satan's Devils MC Utah #2)Stormy’s Thunder by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is Stormy’s story, he has messed up again, he left his brothers in a fit of rage and did the unspeakable, he left his cut behind, he just got on his bike and rode away, but when he wakes up the next morning and his head has cleared up some, he decides if he wants to return to his brothers and be accepted back into the fold, he has to for one, take the beatdown, for two, repeat his prospect days for six months, but he also has to bring something back with him, so he decides to tie up the last loose end in a recent rescue and find the woman who booked the AirBNB where the woman was held. That decided, he goes to get some food in a local diner and starts digging, setting up his newly bought laptop and burner phone, he finds the information he needs and sets off on another long ride.

As he is riding, he thinks about his past and how every time he thinks he has got his life sorted out, he messes up and loses everything he has worked for, he thinks about his childhood, how he worked to leave that behind and when he achieved the career he had always dreamed of, he disobeyed someone, someone else got hurt and he took the blame and was kicked out. Then he thought about how he had found another place with the Satan’s Devils MC, but again, going his own way and doing things he wanted to do led to him being punished again and he ran away. He is in a destructive cycle and he can’t see a way out, unless he can tie off this loose end and take the information back to the Club.

Apart from one stop for fuel for both him and the bike, he arrives at the home of the woman in question, it is late at night and it looks like she is in bed, but when he bangs on the door and rings the doorbell and doesn’t get an answer, he looks through the windows on the ground floor and it looks like nobody is home after all. He decides to go inside and take a look around to see if there has been a home invasion and to see if she is indeed in the house or not, but what he finds when he enters the basement is what appears to be a pile of dirty clothes and a wig that looks worse for wear, however, when he realises it is the woman he has come to find, he wastes no time freeing her from her bonds, he doesn’t want the authorities involved, so he can warm her up and look after her, albeit with the ulterior motive of questioning her. When she begins to regain consciousness and answers his questions, he realises that she isn’t connected to the crime in the way he thought, but he decides to stay for a while and look after her anyway.

As the time passes, the two grow closer and a fall into a comfortable routine until a ghost from Stormy’s past come back to haunt him and that ghost has unfinished business, as he is tortured to the point of being half dead, the worst thing that could happen does, she is taken from him, but when he finally escapes, the first thing he does is return to the club he once called home, but with his injuries, will he be able to to get there in time to save his woman, or will he succumb to them and lose her forever? This is a story of troubled pasts and uncertain futures, but the action will keep you hooked as you read through to the end.

At Once (Adams Brothers, #2)At Once by Mindy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 2 in the Adams Brothers series and I loved this book just as much as the first. I love the emotion in this book and also how it shows someone with a past of abuse can move forward and find love they deserve.

Gabi is a recently divorced woman who has moved her whole life to get a fresh start from her abusive ex. She is set on making her career as an interior designer as successful as possible and in no shape wants a man in her life. That is until she meets Mason Adams.

Mason is a talent man who makes things out of wood. When Gabi and her friend need something unique for a house they are working on they go to him and sparks fly. Mason is a ladys man. With good looks women fall at his feet however the reaction he has to Gabi hasn’t happened before and when he tries to pursue it her rejection makes him want her more.

Why is Gabi so against trying with Mason? Can he show her that he’s genuine in his feelings for her? What are his feeling? Are they just drawn together by lust or is it something more?

5 out of 5 stars!

I am in love with Logan and Allison’s story! I love the way Carrie has brought them to life. Carrie not only brought a hauntingly good time but she also brought romance! This paranormal romance has empaths, psychics, mystery, ghosts, danger, and amazing characters! And let me tell you about that last chapter, it has some heat to it! I can’t wait for book 2. I’m so excited to read it!

Stormy’s Thunder (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Shannon Fowler

Stormy's Thunder (Satan's Devils MC Utah #2)Stormy’s Thunder by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

OMG what a story, Stormy is a very unlikeable character. But of course, he has the best reasons to be like he is. In a perfect world, he would have reacted differently to his life but what can you do, the world is not perfect, not even in a book.
Mellett has written another story with a character that we love to hate from book 1, a character who turns out to have a very interesting back story. This page turning story leads us to an unlikely meeting between Stormy and Cat.

Smart Cat. “You’re never going to move forward unless you stop looking back.”

There are some references to the other clubs and other characters from book 1 Road Tripped, so this book is best if read in order. The other Chapters have their own series and while you don’t have to read those before this Utah series, you are going to want to read all of Mellett’s series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At All: Adams Brothers: Book 3 by Mindy McKinley is a contemporary enemy to lover’s romance story. What can I say? I am a sucker for these Adams brothers. A sexy bad boy musician who plays saxophone. A sexy good girl next door who plays a violin. A lot of banter and sass. A lot of palpable steamy chemistry and the adventure begins.

He’s just biding his time until he is back on tour and she’s determined not to let him interfere with her lessons. When it all comes back to one thing love and their passion for music and each other but will they give up one for the other?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hell In A Handbasket (Life is Hell #3) by Naomi Valkyrie is a paranormal fantasy romance story. Naomi has found her voice and stride and is producing some great things with her writing such as this book which is my favourite so far. I think I say that with every new book but it’s true it just keeps on getting better. As this is book three in the series the characters feel like old friends and some new ones too. It is so easy to laugh out loud at their antics. Naomi’s talented narrative and her characters are delightful. I’ve said it before but it’s an original storyline that is a good strong storyline. I love this well woven multi layered tale and series that is so easy to feel as though you are a part of it.

3.5 stars

Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland is a coming of age new adult romance story. It is a typical set in college story where our characters have the usual angst and self-discovery issues. There is also the wondering just where they fit into life as they transition from teenagers to new adults. It is one of those stories that you can’t put down because you have to know how it ends as much as it frustrated me. I found the characters Doug and Amanda annoying and struggled with them and I wanted to strangle them. Now Zac, I fell in love with Zac. However they did redeem themselves a little as the story progressed.

Black Dog Rising by Kat Caulberg is a paranormal fantasy story. This dark tale is full of secrets and mystery. Kat has given us a plot that is enticing and is enriched with fae lore. She has cleverly woven in all the elements to give the reader an experience and not just a read.

Emma has fled her home and hopes to find refuge in England from a vindictive ghost. Only there is more at stake here where fairies are whispers and a hellhound is prevalent. Not only that but there is a four hundred year old curse and sees Emma in more trouble than ever.

Throw in some chemistry that is palpable when Emma is drawn to Toby who has as much baggage if not more than she. He is a lot mysterious, strangely detached and a little protective.

Shattered Moon by ShennonDoah Helms
A Peek Into Forever (the opening to “One Night Forever’) by Amy C. Beckinsale

I enjoyed them all but some of the stories I will mention are:

Entanglement (A Godcode Novel) by Adam Johnson is a little bit fantasyish and a lot Sci Fi. But an interesting tale.

Paper Love (A Chicago Christmas #2) by Aubrey Wynne is a sweet contemporary historical romance story. It is an endearing and entertaining read. Joss isn’t looking for romance but the more she ignores the man the more he sees this as a challenge he can’t refuse.

Sink Or Swim by SD Dalessandro is a tale where friends are broken apart but when the truth is finally shared will Vanessa understand or will the heartache be too much?
Second Chance (the conclusion of the “Flowers In December” trilogy) by Jane Suen is an emotional journey. Connor’s withdrawal from the world after his mother’s death left Mary Ann wondering. When he recovers enough, he decides that he needs her but is she still there and waiting?

Her Generous Duke (Clean Regency Romance) by Arietta Richmond is a beautiful regency romance. Misunderstandings and two people who have to marry makes for an interesting read. If you are a regency lover then you’ll love this one.

Tomorrow May Be Too Late by Jotham Austin, II is a rom com that is a fun and interesting read and I enjoy reading romance from a male POV.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At Once: Adams Brothers: Book 2 by Mindy McKinley is a contemporary romance story that is another great read from this author. I said to sign me up for more of the Adams brothers and I was not disappointed. This is Mindy’s second book and she did a great job as she did with the first one. The story flows nicely and easily through her writing style. The characters and the story are a believable and enjoyable, relatable and did I mention steamy tale. I loved their witty banter and their toing and froing as they fell in love.

A divorce, a new business venture with the bestie, no relationships and life is ok. That is until one Mr Midas touch aka Mason Adams comes into her life.

One look and that was all it took for a certain non-confident yet fiery red haired beauty to come into his life and he was a goner. Unfortunately the road to love is never easy.

I need my next fix of Adams brothers.

Twisted SecretsTwisted Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hot Navy Seals? I’m in! Twisted Secrets is the first book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. Lust at first sight is what pulls Riley Evans in but is totally skeptical. Riley typically attracts me who are completely wrong for her. That is until she meets Navy Seal Xander Hale. The attraction is clearly undeniable. However, Riley doesn’t automatically give in to her attraction. However, Xander keeps pursuing her and she eventually gives in. Then things get a little hanky and needs Xander’s help to keep her safe and alive. There were so many twists and turns that made this book completely unpredictable, which was so awesome. The chemistry between them slowly smolders until it begins to flame. When it does it is hot and steamy! It was definitely a page-turner that I absolutely did not want to put down. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next book in the series! This series is going to be awesome!

Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance author who has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.

Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family.

Capturing Fate by Abbie Roads – Review by Melissa Agena

Capturing Fate (Fatal Truth, #2)Capturing Fate by Abbie Roads
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Do you love murder mysteries involving serial killers? This is the one to read! Capturing Fate is written by Abbie Roads and it is completely enthralling. Dolan Watts is an FBI agent that has a boat load of demons that he is battling. Not to mention the number of enemies that he has obtained over the years as an agent. To help him he meets Psychologist Daughter Dawson. Just like Dolan, Daughter is battling her own set of demons. When she unlocks those demons, things start to happen and a serial killer emerges. The chemistry between these two is pretty electric. It was super exciting to see these two battle their demons together. This was definitely a page turner! So full of suspense and psychological twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat. I was so glad to see that this turned out to be a HEA. I don’t think that I would have been happy if it wasn’t. I was super impressed with this read and I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Hell In A Handbasket (Life is Hell Book 3) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Angela Hayes

Hell In A Handbasket (Life is Hell #3)Hell In A Handbasket by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

“Sometimes I wonder how I lived most of my life without really knowing that the paranormal world exists right along side the human one. Even though things appear normal for this tiny town, I can’t help but wonder how many paranormal things have gone on here, unnoticed. How many times have I come close to the world of magic and monsters and not known it?” (Oren)

Hell In A Handbasket is the third exciting instalment in the Life is Hell series by Naomi Valkyrie. I adore this series so much!!! From the moment I read the blurb on the first book, I was hooked- and I can honestly say that this series only gets better with each new instalment.
This is a captivating fantasy with demons, banter, drama, mystery, sizzling chemistry, danger, discovery, more than a few surprises, and twists- as well as a heartwarming m/m romance.
A seemingly picture perfect little town. Such a beautiful setting that hides a whole lot of paranormal beings and a lot of supernatural activity which goes on there- and the ordinary folk aren’t even aware of what’s happening right under their noses. But as we have come to learn in the previous books, there is so much more to Juniper Lake than first meets the eye.
This is Oren and Teivel’s story, whom we met in the previous books as secondary characters. Oren has intrigued me right from the beginning, with the discovery of his Hunter heritage. But not having any training or any other Hunters he can call on for guidance or advice, leaves Oren feeling a little vulnerable. He really is still coming to terms with being a Hunter and what that means for him going forward. Trying to figure it out on his own is draining. Add a sexy demon to the mix and things really heat up. But he’s a Hunter and Teivel’s a demon- and a bit of a prickly one at that, so they shouldn’t work- but their chemistry says otherwise. Then bring a little surprise package into the mix- and this story really takes off!!! I really couldn’t read this story quick enough, flipping the pages to discover what happens next- and all the while dreading racing through the story, as I really didn’t want it to end.
As I have mentioned a few times now, but it is worth repeating- Naomi Valkyrie is a talented storyteller- weaving such wonderfully original and completely captivating fantasies. Her work is always very creative, rich and dynamic- with plenty of texture and imaginative touches which enable her story and characters to come to life- pulling me into their world and whisking me along for the ride.
I really can’t wait to read book #4 and see where we go from here!

Thank you, Naomi Valkyrie!

Stormy’s Thunder (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Robin Rankin

Stormy's Thunder (Satan's Devils MC Utah #2)Stormy’s Thunder by Manda Mellett

Stormy’s Thunder: Satan’s Devils MC Utah by Manda Mellett

My first thought was when are people going to realize you don’t mess with the Satan’s Devils?   I guess it just goes to show how stupid criminals are.

Stormy is a hot mess, but we learn why.  Some of his problems are his own fault,  but not all of them.   I hated Stormy in the previous Utah book but as I learned more about him and his past my feelings changed significantly.   Especially when he was with her.

I love how everyone is connected in this stories no matter how distant that connection is.  We have the other chapters popping up and people being connected to characters in previous stories or connection to one of the Devils.

I enjoyed this book as much, and maybe a bit more because of how complicated Stormy was.  I can’t wait to see who falls next.

Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Felicia Bates

Twisted SecretsTwisted Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Twisted Secrets is the first book in Amy Mckinley’s Deadly Isles Special Ops series and once I got into it (which didn’t take too long) I could not put the book down. I was first introduced to Amy McKinley’s writing from her Gray Ghost series and when I noticed she had another series with attractive military men and likeable female characters, I couldn’t resist. As I’ve come to expect from this author, I was not disappointed.
I enjoyed that the writing style showed the storyline from both Xander and Riley’s perspective and that each character had a lot of background details that didn’t just surround their relationship. Both characters were really likeable and I wanted them to have happiness. I don’t read many romance novels because I am more drawn to thrillers or suspense novels so to find a book that has a little bit of everything is awesome. Especially knowing there is more to be read in a series. Another great book from Amy McKinley, 5 star recommendation from me.

I have loved every book that I have read by this author which is all of them. This one is one of my favorites by her yet. This is the third book in this series which can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest reading all of this series. This is a well written story that pulled me in right from the beginning. The author’s attention to detail made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. I love seeing characters from previous books in this one also. This is a story about a demon tracker and a demon. The tracker is no stranger to heartbreak and neither is going to Juniper Lake. Her first trip was supposed to be a one time thing but when it calls out to her she just has to go back. What happens after she gets there is for you to find out and read this book. I love the characters in this story and what they bring to the plot. I highly recommend this book.

They are great stories where the characters bring the story to life. This one is no different than the others. They are connectable and made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced story that kept me turning pages to the end. This is a story about not expecting something after the first kiss. Who knew what that one kiss could turn into and Maelle and Sebastian are about to find out. I enjoyed their chemistry and the instant attraction with them. They are such great characters. I highly recommend this book.

This is a well developed story that has characters that made the story pop. The author’s attention to details made the story realistic. They are connectable and really made the story fun and entertaining to read. This is a story of Ellie and Drew. Drew and Jason were just the boys next door but what will happen when Drew becomes more than just the boy next door to Ellie? What will happen when a public stunt turns bad and the past threatens to bring the past to the present? The chemistry and attraction between these two is just hot and they are so good together. I found myself hoping they would get their HEA in the end. This is a great romance story that I would highly recommend.

This author does it again! She WOWed me and I became obsessed with this book! I couldn’t believe what was happening…with just about every swipe of the page! Envision….eyes bugging out of head and mouth dropped open! I kept repeating what…the WHAT?

Shocking and surprising are the two words I would say describe this story. I couldn’t stop the expressions flitting across my face or the stuttering of words coming out of my mouth. (See above 😉)

This book is closely intertwined with the first book in the series. A lot of the same characters with the two main ones telling a story of their own. I have no words to say about them other than devotion and stunned! Figure that out!

While the story might be crazy, fascinating and MIND BLOWING it ends on a happy note with me ginning my face off. (A great epilogue always does me in!)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Is This Me? by Tricia Copeland is the first book in the Being Me series. For me this book is all about the main character – Amanda – and the emotional journey that she goes through. I thought the author did a great job of portraying the turmoil that the character was going through, so much so that I was drawn into the story and really felt like I was taking the journey with her.
The overall story has a great pace to it. The author has clearly taken the time to develop the characters and give them the extra depth that makes them so enjoyable. She really knew how to engage my interest in the book which I think it why I read this so quickly. This a great, clean, coming of age story that I would certainly recommend you try today.

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel) AUDIO BOOK by India Kells – Review by Dani Dando

This started off pretty interesting, thought the idea of The Vigilante had an echo of batman to it which piqued my interest. Don’t really know how I felt about the romance aspect of it as I thought it was a tad unbelievable, it moved far too fast for me, getting hot and heavy before either character had really had time to land. I mean I had some pretty awesome impressions of Orla when first introduced; strong-willed, savvy, and smart, but then she very quickly makes some decisions that had me baffled.
I will say that I am not keen on these types of stories but for those that do like the steamy stories this is for you, with the added spice of the danger and the thrill of a mystery. The narration is pretty good too and kept me interested. I find that sometimes if the narration isn’t that good, I will switch off and struggle to take in the tale, but there was no issue with this, Price was engaging and a great storyteller.
With all those things said I will say that Kells has penned a really interesting tale, I just wish there had been more of the aspects that interested me. Anyone that likes a good smoldering romance with all the beats and action of a thriller will love this.

Askew Ever After: A Limited Edition Romance Collection (Paper Love by Aubrey Wynne) – Review by Amanda Kimble

Askew Ever After: A Limited Edition Romance Collection (Paper Love by Aubrey Wynne)

This is the first book I’ve read by Wynne. It definitely won’t be my last. Wynne is an amazing author and I can’t wait for the next one.

Joss is wanting to go back to her village. She feels like she’s alone in the world. Losing her mother made her lose herself. She made sure her father and sister were fine. The quote I chose for Joss is: “Spoken like a true father. Get back to work so you can continue to spoil us rotten.”

Ben is back in town and he needs to mingle. Holding monthly singles get togethers and there he meets the one. He has to convince not only her, but himself that he’s ready. The quote I chose for Ben is: “There’s something about that girl, sis. I felt it the first time our eyes met. It’s not a feeling I’ve ever had before. It’s more than physical, I long for her. When I’m doing something, I wonder what her opinion might be. And her opinion matters to me for some reason.”

Highly recommended for Romance lovers.

Road Tripped (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #1) by Manda Mellett – Review by Shannon Fowler

Road Tripped (Satan's Devils MC Utah #1)Road Tripped by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Road Tripped is not the first MC book by Mellett that I have had the pleasure of reading. This story has a good story line with an easy-to-read adventure. There are a couple of graphic scenes but since it is an MC story, it is kind of expected.

Road is from the mother chapter in Tucson but there is something going on in Utah. And it’s up to Road to figure it out, report back to Drummer, his prez, and then get on with his life. But what life does he have now that his sport of choice has been taken from him. And when he finds out Utah has more secrets than he can handle, what’s a biker to do? Even though I love Swift doesn’t mean that Road loves what Swift stands for. I love what Swift brings to the Utah Chapter and the Satan’s Devils overall, but can Swift prove that the Utah chapter is above board and not working illegally before Road reports to Drummer or dies trying?

This book is definitely worth the read. Bring on Book 2!

Taking Flight (Code of Honor Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Karyn Taylor

Taking FlightTaking Flight by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taking Flight is the 2nd book in the Code of Honor series by Brooke May. Although part of a series, each book can be read as a standalone. I had previously read the first book in this series and a couple of other books by the author so I had expectations of enjoying this book and I’m glad to say that I enjoyed it very much.
Jody Meadows is the twin sister of country sensation Jilly Meadows and has lived I her shadows all of her life, always coming second to her sister. Now she’s had enough of being Jilly’s doormat and is looking for a way out. That way out comes in the form of airman Holt Preston who happens to be stationed in Germany when Jilly is on tour there.
I really loved this story. I adored Jody and wanted to slap her twin sister Jilly on so many occasions. I honestly think that Jody must have the patience of a saint to put up with her theatrics. I also adored Holt. He’s sweet and charming and also rather hot! I love how he wanted the best for Jody and fought for her to better herself.
I was hooked on this story from the very first page and was gripped to the story throughout, right up to the very end. I definitely recommend Taking Flight.

Night Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel) AUDIO BOOK by India Kells – Review by Katie Matthews

Night Justice – Audio Book
By India Kells
5 stars

There was plenty of action from the very start. The characters in the story were great. I really liked Orla, she was strong, determined and wasn’t going to back down. I really enjoyed reading about her. I loved that there was a little romance in the story too. When Orla and The Vigilante meet their connection and chemistry was undeniable!

I really enjoyed the narration, it was easy to listen to and I felt like the time just flew by as I settled down to listen.

Night Justice is a fantastic 5 star story, it has some darker romance elements to it which I loved! I am really excited to listen to the next book in the series.
