Flipping the Bird is the first book in the Shift Creek series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is a paranormal romance that I had a lot of fun reading. I literally found myself laughing throughout this whole book. I read it in one afternoon. This author has quickly become one of my favorites. Her writing style is perfect and her characters as well. This story is full of mystery, magic and a whole lot of humor. Alice is a crow shifter and the magical stream where she lives is drying up. What happens when a hot warlock comes to town? There’s more to him than one might realize. Can he Alice ? Find out what happens next in this must read.

This is such a heartwarming book from the start. Laim and Rose have a history together. This story went too fast for me as I was reading I didn’t realise I would actually reading. I felt right Roses position and really connect with a character. Laim is struggling with his emotions and revelations , I like how his character has developed over time.
This short Novella is a lovely little read. Byrd takes you right back to the regency period where life is full of proper etiquette and ball rooms and dreams. Melinda Wychwood had successfully managed the Grange, the family estate whilst her father was ill upon his departing from this world it was handed to another male in the family. Kaye and Theo banter was well written. It a lovely retelling of the Cinderella story.

The Clark Family Series is something different indeed it throughs in dynamics you don’t even realise are there. She touched on a subject that is rarely done in books. Don’t Worry, I Still Hate You by Marie Skye was a quick, engaging read. When I saw Marie Skye had a story, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I could feel the chemistry and the tension is palpable. This steamy tale keeps you interested from start to finish. Marie’s writing is delightful, and you will fall in love with the characters who made me laugh and cry and everything in between as I journeyed along with the them.
Perrie is looking for a roommate, what she never expected was the one who responded to her ad. Will they remain friends or will they become so much more?

Ride With the Moonlightis the sequel to Thunder On The Moorby Andrea Matthews. It is time travel romance, with fantasy, action, adventure, betrayal, family dynamics, hidden agendas, danger, murder, tragedy, tension, drama, angst, suspense, emotion, and history. As with the first instalment, this story is set in Scotland- which, again, the author did a good job of capturing- right down to the dialogue, historical details, and other descriptive elements. As this follows on from book one, I really recommend reading Thunder On the Moor before starting on this book as there is a lot of important information held there which will better help you appreciate the storyline, characters, and developments in this story. Ms. Matthews doesn’t take is easy on her characters as they have to fight for every ounce of happiness. After the events of the previous book, I thought Will and Maggie might get a little reprieve from all the action and danger. But that is not the case and once again they find themselves in desperate and dangerous circumstances- put through the wringer and unsure of the future- as fate seems to be hell bent on destroying everything. With more than one obstacle to overcome- things look quite grim. Will hope, strength of character, and their love carry them through? You will have to read the story and find out for yourself. The story continues in the next instalment- Shake Loose the Border (Book #3), which looks set to turn up the intrigue.

Stormy’s Thunder is the second book in Satan’s Devils MC Utah Chapter Series by Manda Mellett. I have eagerly followed the Satan’s Devils since the very beginning, all through the original series and on to the newer spin-off chapters. And as always, I know I can rely on Ms. Mellett to deliver a story that not only captures my attention, but will also bring some unexpected developments, which inevitably make me sit up and really take notice. To be honest though, I really didn’t like Storm going into this book- having met him previously. But as the story progressed and we were taken back in time, I was given a different perspective of the man- and Stormy and Ms. Mellett not only won me over, but had me rooting for him (and Cat) right till the end. As always, if you love a really beautifully written and riveting MC story- with complex, quirky and endearing characters, steam and sizzling, emotion, action, suspense, and dramatic developments- then you definitely won’t want to miss this. Be warned though, as you may discover that one of Ms. Mellett’s books may prove addictive, and one will never be enough!

I pre-ordered this collection months ago and have been anticipating the moment it would arrive and I would finally be able to jump in. It is always wonderful to read stories from authors you know and love- but the bonus here is that I was introduced to some authors who are new to me, and got the chance to see what they do, too. So now I have some more authors to add to my list and lots of waiting catalogues of books for me to one-click and explore. One of my favourite authors, Marie Skye, has contributed to this collection with “Don’t Worry, I Still Hate You”. It is a sexy romp full of the humorous touches, banter, witty sarcasm, and steamy encounters that I love about her work. I really enjoyed meeting Perrie and Ash- and only wish their story was longer, but in a good way- as I would to have wallowed longer with them.

Crave is the first book in the Clark Family seriesby Evelyn Sola. I have read a couple of Ms. Sola’s books now, and this is definitely my favourite, so far. The story oozes angst, drama, push-pull, past hurt, family dynamics, chemistry, some humour, and sizzle. Jake will definitely have a lot to work through, and will need to let go of the past if he has any hope of making a future with Sandy. Sandy is strong and independent woman, a hard working nurse who knows when to leave well enough alone. So, after an intense connection when they first meet, things crumble when issues arise from the past. So is Jake wants any chance, he is going to have to work hard to earn it. What awaits in Book #2? Mmmm I wonder….

I anticipated liking this book but wasn’t quite prepared for the emotional journey it took me on. I immediately connected to Tara and Jace and fell head first into their story. The author did a beautiful job creating their story and their backgrounds and building a wonderful foundation for this tale to take off from. Loved every page.

I loved this book the first time I read it and the audio takes it to another level entirely. I felt the narrator did a beautiful job breathing life into Pulkinen’s words and providing emotion and context to this fantastic paranormal romantic comedy. I loved every minute and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Echoes – Lucifer and the deadly Goddess is a dystopian fantasy book- the first in the series. This is a story about Feirin, who has lost her memory and has no clue about herself. All she has is a black necklace hanging around her neck and a tattoo on her forehead. As she starts her journey to rediscover who she is, she realizes she has special powers but needs help on how to use them. When she goes to the police to enquire about her past, it backfires and she is exiled outside the walls of the city with a group of people. Outside the city’s protective walls, Feirin’s is at peril. How Feirin saves her life and the life of everyone with her forms the crux of the story.
The story is a mixed bag of suspense, mystery and magic, and manages to keep the reader on his/her toes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward for more in this series.

Wildfire book 2 in the broken bow series by Ashley A Quinn. In this book Tara returns home and she is hurt by the past. She is recovering from her past when she runs into Jace Travers. Jace is everthing that scares her!! Or is he? I think once she gets to know Jace a little more she releases he is what she wants. Jace also has a bad past and moved so he can start healing. I loved everthing about Tara and her family they are loving and just all around great people to read about. The way Ashley describes Jace also attracts you to his character as well. I look forward to reading book 3 in this series. I want to learn more about the characters in this series. Thank you Ashley A Quinn for writing this wonderful series i look forward to reading more by you 🙂

Echoes by Nikki Broadwell is the first book in the Lucifer and the Dark Goddess series and it was a great read! I could hardly put this book down once I got into it. It took me several chapters to become enthralled, but once I was I was hooked. It was like a dystopian, Mad Max type of book. Thrilling at points, sad at others, this book really makes you think. It feels like this is how our future could be if some things don’t change, which is very scary. I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait to read the next installment!

Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell is the first in a new series. This is a good read that kept me interested from beginning to end. There are paranormal elements, dystopian, and more to the story. The main character Feirin is more than what one first thinks when she is introduced. I think this story leaves the reader wanting to know more and wanting to read the next book in the series. I enjoyed the character and world-building of the story. I really enjoyed the mysterious elements of the story. This is not my first time reading this author and I have always enjoyed her work. I look forward to more in this series and more from the author in the future.

Jordan’s Justice: A New Adult Sport Romance is the second book in the Tessa and Jordan series by T. Christensen.
For me, this is not a stand-alone novel that can be read by itself. You really need to start at book one to appreciate the storyline and the characters. The backstory makes this book so much more, and this is a continuation of book one. Jordan’s Justice took me on an emotional rollercoaster. It had me in tears more than once. I loved the character of Tessa. She is a single mother, and is strong, and has her child’s best interest at heart throughout. Jordan needs to win me back over again. Even though I sympathised with him, and felt for what he had been through, he reacted very badly and made Tessa’s difficult life even more difficult at times. I thoroughly enjoyed this book though, and highly recommend this series.

Carrie Pulkinen thank you for the belly laughs…… this was a fun, light listen with some really funny scenes. Hollie Jackson also did a good job with the narration. The storyline line is really good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I wish the author gave some more attention to the characters. Still a real fun listen, especially the humor.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this story when I first read the blurb, it sounded really intriguing and I couldn’t wait to get going – I actually really enjoyed it as well. It was an intriguing story and really creatively written. I have read books by this author previously so it was great to read some by her again. I really felt like I was living this story with Ferin, finding out everything that she was and all that was going on in her life. I was really invested in what I was reading. This really was an interesting and intriguing read added in to that is the authors creative and imaginative writing it was definitely a great 4 star read and what that I would definitely recommend.

Happily Ever After: Don’t Worry I Still Hate You by Marie Skye is a brilliantly entertaining book. This book really highlights how good this author is and how amazing her stories always are. I loved the characters in this book. They had such a strong connection but the history between them made for a hilarious and entertaining journey. Although this is a short story I found myself fully immersed in it and it didn’t feel like anything was missing or like the story was rushed. This is such an great example of enemies to lovers and second chance romance I would highly recommend reading it!

I enjoyed listening to this book a lot. I’m a big fan of Amy McKinley books and this one didn’t disappoint. I’m excited this is a new series to me and look forward to the next book in the A Gray Ghost Novel books. This book has our lead female character Liv (Olivia) Wrightwood, an artist who lost her parents in a tragic car accident. She’s married to Alex Mudarra, an up-and-coming NYPD detective. Through her fight for survival she meets Liam who helps her get through some daring situations. This was a great listen and the narrator did a great job! RECOMMEND!

What an amazing read! I think that this was probably one of the best paranormal reads that I have rea. Ms Pulkinen definitely has a creative mind and it was shown to its fullest in this story. It’s book 1 in a new series and I am very excited to see what is yet to come if this book is anything to go by. I loved the quirkiness of the story and it was nice to read something a little different. The characters were great to read about – they were well thought out and so imaginative! Overall a wonderful 5 star read and I would definitely recommend this to other readers!

Crave: An Instant Attraction Romantic Comedy by Evelyn Sola is a novel in the Clark Family series. This is an absolutely brilliant book – entertaining, great chemistry, fantastic characters. This book grabs your attention from the moment you start reading it and doesn’t let go the whole way through. The connection between these characters is palpable – you can feel it on every page. I found that I just couldn’t stop reading about them and had to find out what was in store for them. The author has written and brilliant and in-depth story. If has been developed so well – she knows exactly when to push the story forward and when to hold back a little. The author has a strong writing style that is an absolute joy to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read more from this author.

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 by Amy McKinley AUDIOBOOK
Another amazing read by McKinley. Broken Circle is an amazing book especially when you listen to the audio. McKinley knows how to write and she knows how to capture her readers. Regan Brown had me wanting more.
Olivia aka Liv is the wife of the NYPD Detective and soon to be politician. Hiding something from him is killing her, but it’s the right thing to do. The quote I chose for Liv is: “I hope you’re right.”
Alex is a NYPD Detective and heading into politics. He doesn’t want to have kids to be used against him. He is hiding his past from Olivia and she doesn’t know the extent. The quote I chose for Alex is: “I’m sorry babe. I have no intentions of hiding anything, other than a job, from you. There are no mistresses and never will be. You’re it for me.”
Highly recommended for Romance lovers.

This is a lighthearted, funny tale about a crow shifter trying to save her town. The town of Shift Creek is a mixture of shifters and humans. The creek that runs through it was blessed with healing qualities for all shifters. Unfortunately, the spell is tied to a family of warlocks, the Rainecourts. Thirty years ago, after the death of his wife, Martin left the town with his two sons. Slowly but surely, the magic has been dwindling and now it’s at a critical level. Alice is trying her best to find a solution but it seems they really need a Rainecourt. When someone moves into the Rainecourt House, Alice’s hopes get raised once again only to be dashed when she finds out his name is Donovan Drake. There is more to Donovan than he is letting on, he has his secrets to protect. Read the book to find out what they are.
I absolutely love Carrie Pulkinen. Her books are interesting and funny. There is always romance with a supernatural twist. The story is quirky and interesting. The characters are likeable and relatable. The addition of Marty the farting mongoose had me in stitches. I believe that this is a great start to this series.

Carrie Pulkinen’s paranormal romance novel Flipping The Bird is an enchanting tale set in a small town called Shift Creek. The town received its name from the magical creek that reversed its flow on the full moon. The inhabitants of the town are magical beings that can shift to an animal form, like Alice’s ability to become a crow and her friend’s ability to change to a raccoon. Unfortunately the creek is in jeopardy as the warlock that enchanted the water is dead and only his family bloodline of Rainecourts can manage the creek. Sadly, his two known sons think very little of the town and refuse to help. One day a new inhabitant of the abandoned Rainecourt mansion appears. Donovan Drake automatically attracts Alice and she changes to her crow form to investigate who he is. She sees he has a talking mongoose familiar and she automatically assumes he is a warlock. When she leaves from his balcony she picks up a shiny green amulet from his trash can. Little does she know that the amulet is a necessity for Donovan as his magic powers are locked and he has less than a month to prevent losing them forever. Donovan runs into Alice at her store and both immediately feel a connection. The remainder of the book shows the building of a romantic relationship between the two. Does Donovan show his true issue with his powers and his heritage? Does Alice discover the power held in the amulet? Will Shift Creek lose its magic powers and disappear?
I found that Flipping The Bird was a very quick read as I finished it in one sitting. The explicit sexual content as well as the profanity makes this story for mature readers. I enjoyed the witty humor that Pulkinen included with the story. The ending of the story was an unexpected one but I felt that it was a bit rushed. I would have liked the descriptions of the scenery to be more thorough and the dialogue to have been better developed. I did like the overall story but wished the book was longer.

4 Stars Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell is a paranormal dystopian adventure that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I love this authors style of writing and attention to detail. She’s definitely a one click author for me. This is my favorite yet. Feirin has lost her memory and has not a single clue who she is or what she does. She goes in search of help thinking she might get help from the police but all that does is bring on more problems. Follow along with Feirin on her journey and see what happens next. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Flipping the Bird: A Paranormal Chick Lit Novel (Shift Creek Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen. Ok this book was everything I was looking for in a great read! The characters were so easy to connect with and they pulled me in right from the get go. Usually I have to really be in the mood for paranormal type books like really in the mood but this one sounded fun so I figured what the heck. And boy was I not disappointed. It was a great storyline that had me so captured I lost track of time and I was completely fine with that. It was fun getting lost with these characters. It’s well written and paced nicely. Can’t wait to see where this author takes readers next. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!
