Broken Circle by Amy McKinley – Review by Amanda Pierce

Broken Circle (Gray Ghost #1)Broken Circle by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Broken Circle by Amy McKinley is the first in the Gray Ghost Series. I started this book because it looked interesting, and I couldn’t put it down. The book has twists, turns, suspense, romance and everything else you could imagine. The characters are well written and you can really feel their emotions while reading this book. This is absolutely a must read and I cannot wait to start the next book, I have a feeling these books are going to be one that gives me a good book hangover when I am done with their story. Great read and I will definitely read more books by this author. I give this book a solid 5 stars.

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms)Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a paranormal story that is book 2 in the Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms series. In the beginning of the story it was hard for me to read, as I had to learn the characters and their situations, but I guess that’s what happens when you start a series with book 2. I did end up loving this story because, well…dragon shifters are amazing! Marean makes me want to read book 1 and any other books she writes in this series!

Ashara and Casstiel are two characters who have a connection with each other but don’t understand it. Casstiel was supposed to be mated with Maya but after her death he was stuck and couldn’t follow her to the afterlife. Thanks to the connection with Ashara. Casstiel planned to severe that connection but again fate had other plans. The pain and suffering that these main two characters go through is heartbreaking and sad. This story wasn’t all sadness. Casstiel’s daughter Skye is the perfect teenager. Not quite an adult but not quite a kid anymore. Her attitude, loneliness and confusion was spot on!

There are many other characters in this book which leads me to thinking and hoping that there will be many Dragon shifters in my future! I enjoyed learning about this world and their powers. Marean made it easy for me to become a dragon shifter fan!

Moments that Define Us by Amy McKinley – Review by Shannon Fowler

Moments That Define Us (Gray Ghost #0.5)Moments That Define Us by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the prequel to the Gray Ghost series. I actually read the first two books in the series before this novella. I am loving this series. This story tells about the Gray Ghost characters when they were kids and what lead them to the choices they are making as adults.

This story is hard to read in that the kids are homeless and the ones that do have a home are being abused. The story flows and you can almost tell that something bad is going to happen, but you just aren’t sure until it does happen. Little do they realize that the bad will lead to the one opportunity they need to be great.

I recommend this story before you start the Gray Ghost series or at any time during it. Looking forward to reading more about these characters.

Hopelessly Devoted (Bayou Devils MC 1)Hopelessly Devoted by A.M. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have always loved a good MC book and this didn’t fall short. This book made me totally hooked to this series and I cannot wait for more.

I loved Ali. She was up for a promotion at work but unfortunately it went to someone else and on top of that her neighbor’s dogs trampled her. Could life get worse? Yes, it totally could! The dog belongs to her hot as hell neighbor who is part of the Bayou Devils MC.

Storm has one rough past but one look at his neighbor has him fighting to get to know Ali. The dynamic between these two characters was explosive. The storyline was flawless and I legit can’t wait to dive into book 2!

After reading the first book I had to jump into the second right away and I loved this one just as much!

This was Chance and Carly’s story and both of these character’s BLEW ME AWAY! Chance is now my new book boyfriend and that says something because I rarely add to my list! Carly’s character was powerful. She has endured so much in her life that i was in awe of her strength! Chance was the perfect man for her.

I love the dynamics of this series and how you could be laughing one minute and having your heartstrings pulled at the next. It what keeps you guess and on the edge of your seat until the end!

A Monster Like Me (Heart of Darkness, #2)A Monster Like Me by Pamela Sparkman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Monster Like Me by Pamela Sparkman book (Heart of Darkness Book 2)

Zeph has known nothing but darkness since he was taken as a boy. Upon being revived he is given a second chance at life but still struggles with the darkness with in. He was a monster and still is. How can he change. Can his heart be healed and will he ever be able to find who that boy was again?

I absolutely loved the storyline of this novel. I was worried that I would be lost since I did not read book 1 but the author did a great job of building this story where the reader does not need to read the first. There was so much taking place with Zeph and his emotions as he tried to fight the darkness. This book is definitely a 5 star book.

Georgia On My Mind (Southern Promises #2)Georgia On My Mind by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

AH! I will admit it, This book won my heart. I loved absolutely everything about this book. Hart and Gia are EVERYTHING!

K.G. Fletcher has a way of making the most real character’s I’ve read. Their emotions/feelings are completely relatable and I love how her stories have this kind of slow burn quality to them. Both Hart and Gia have their hang ups, which is totally understandable. Hart has this beauty about him as he supports Gia as she slowly heals. He is completely and utterly swoon worthy.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again, I love K.G. Fletcher’s writing. The stories are easily a one sitting read and you’ll fall in love with all the characters!

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6)Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mimi Barbour’s Special Agent Charli is the sixth book in the Undercover FBI series. This is the first book that I have read within this suspense series and it was a page-turner. The story immediately dives in and captures your full focus. The author does a firm job of detailing the characters from their personalities, traits and distinct characteristics. Charli is a take charge woman on the verge of something and her world does a 180 degree turn taking her out of her comfort zone and placing her on a path she’s unsure she can handle or control. Adding Blake into the dynamic, all bets are off as personalities clash, emotions flair and chemistry leaks loose. This story fully engulfed me as I read through the chapters – one of those novels that just won’t let go until you finish.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summer Fling, by Tarrah Anders, is a new adult/college romance that features two souls who aren’t looking or anticipating what comes across their paths. Yet, how can you deny something that feels right and keeps coming back? A Summer Fling was a well written story with likable characters that were real and flawed in their own individual ways; adding in a bit of drama with a dash of spice over the summer and who knows what is about to come out! Tarrah Anders keeps the reader on their toes and the story is anything but boring. I found the characters creative, fun and a joy to read as their stories unfolded.

Conviction (Ash Park, #2)Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really shouldn’t be surprised by anything that Meghan O’Flynn writes, but I am. She amazes me with every book that I pick up.

Conviction – the 2nd book in the Ash Park Series, and let me say that I was completely stunned by the material, writing style and characters. Meghan does an amazing job of keeping her readers at the edge of their seat, wondering with suspense as to what is going to happen. I couldn’t help but feel on edge, because the entire time that I was reading the book, I kept hoping that Shannon would be okay.

I’m glad that they had the opportunity to read this book, as the first one captivated me with everything that it offered. I can’t wait to read more books by her!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wish I Had A Nickel is the second book in The Sand Dollar series by J.D Boudreaux. It took me a while to figure out that I had read book one and what it was about. I do recommend that you read book one, because it will give you a better perspective of our main character an his life. This books is many years ahead of where the first book left off which was a surprise but didn’t detract from the story. This is a story of a man with man different relationships with many different people. He is always the man of the hour wanting to help people but what does he do for him. What is it that he is looking for? Does he even know? I hated the way the book ended because there is so much that I want to know now. I don’t want to wait for the next book but alas I don’t have a choice, J.D. is making me wait. “Sighs”

Wish I Had a Nickel (The Sand Dollar Series Book 2)Wish I Had a Nickel by J.D. Boudreaux
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You know that moment when you are reading a book and you realize that there isn’t enough time left in the story for everything YOU want to happen in it? Yeah, that happened to me with “Wish I Had a Nickle” by JD Boudreaux. This story is about Alex and Leigh, born two days apart and best friends since birth. Their mothers met in the hospital and became friends, and the children became very close. I don’t want to give anything away but time passes and Alex and Leigh reconnect, and that’s mostly where the story takes place. I love how JD Boudreaux laid out the story. It isn’t your common boy meets girl story told from each person’s side either. There are flashbacks and details that get sprinkled in that surprised me as a reader since most authors I’ve read don’t write like that, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! “Wish I Had a Nickle” was one of those books I didn’t want to end, as I loved being wrapped up in the story of Alex and Leigh. This is the second book in the Sand Dollar series. I did not read the first book and I do not think that hindered me at all while reading this one, but it is good to know and read in order if you feel you need to. I give “Wish I Had a Nickle” five stars, even if I wish it was longer! Fortunately for me, the next installment “The Broken Sand Dollar” comes out in February! I know I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for it!!

Beneath a Blue Moon (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #2) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Jenni Bishop

Beneath a Blue Moon (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #2)Beneath a Blue Moon by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beneath a Blue Moon Carrie Pulkinen is the second book in the series and is a paranormal, romance. I enjoyed it as much as I did the first book in the series. It is full of magical werewolfs and witches and evil. Who doesn’t like a good shifter story where evil seeks revenge. A curse that can cause pain and misery and lots of action and mystery. Whilst mayhems reins, two of the most unlikely of matches find their way to each other but they have so much pain from the past that will keep them apart. One is cursed the other doesn’t like witches. Will they be able to overcome their differences and finally rid the evil that threatens them all or will curse and mistrust keep them from finding who they really are together? The one thing Rain needs is the one thing she can’t ask for. This story is a great read and I loved the characters. The story was told in several POV’s providing that much needed richness of a full story. I suggest you read the first book in the series and they are a good part of this book as well. Well done Ms Carrie!

Every Breath You Take (Bayou Devils MC 3)Every Breath You Take by A.M. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every Breath You Take by A.M. Myers is the third book in her Bayou Devils MC series and what a continuation it is! You could read it as a standalone but why should you? You will get so much more out of this story if you have read the first two books prior attacking this one AND on top of that it means you have 3 great books you can spend your time with at the same time!
Every Breath You Take is the story of Lincoln “Kodiak” Archer and Tatum “Tate” Carter. Their story is not a simple one, there are so many layers that you really need to dig deep and pay attention (though it is not a hardship I tell you). I love myself some strong and sassy and stubborn heroines! Tate is a true fighter and she is not afraid to show her vulnerable side either. Lincoln is our quintessential bad boy who is a member of a MC and who is also caring and protective. Lincoln has a painful past and Tate is trying to discover answers to the questions she is left with when her mother dies in a car accident. And then there is the chemistry … you can feel it when reading the story … you root for them and you know that they are perfect for each other! Full stop! Jump on this heck of a ride!

The Kitty Committee by Kathryn Berla
Four Stars

The Kitty Committee: A Novel of Suspense is not the first book I have read by Kathryn Berla, however it is my new favorite. This mystery had me hooked on the very first page and I just couldn’t put it down until I finished it. The secret was kept close to the vest for quite a bit of the book which had me guessing what it would be. I loved how the story jumps in time as Grace tell what is going on in her memories. It spirals around a group of girls that formed during high school and continued on. This story had me frustrated at times because I felt Grace should have known better than to stick with the Kitty Committee when things started going sideways. I have always enjoyed Kathryn’s books and I would recommend it to those that are looking for a good mystery.

I fell in love with Sweeny, I want to go there and I want to become friends with Royce, Emma, Cyrus, Jackson, Willie and Effie. This was such a fun story and also very sweet. It had its touches of drama with outside characters that added a bit of danger to the mix.

This story flowed so perfectly that I read it in one sitting and hated when it was over and I’m truly hoping there is more to come from Sweeny and this cast of awesome characters.

Tarrah Anders won me over long ago and she is an automatic one click for me, don’t even care what the book is about I go in blind because she’s one of those authors you just know you can trust to give you a story you love and don’t want to put down and always leaves you wanting more.

Just Exes by Charity Ferrell was an emotional second chance enemies-to-lovers book. I had to finish this book before going to bed (1 am) because you have two different events going on at the same time. How could anyone put a book down with all that happening? So yes, I went to sleep with red puffy eyes because I cried like a baby. Charity’s will draw you in after the first chapter and not let go till the very end.

Gage and Lauren’s relationship gave me everything that I love – bantering almost every time they saw each other, the heartbreaking past flashbacks and of course the HOT hate sex; which turned into reunion sex. Plus, I loved seeing Lauren’s brother again and getting updated on that was going on.

P.S. – Kyle needs his own book; I need more Kyle!!

5 out of 5 stars

The story Must Love Fashion (Darling Cove Book 1) by Deborah Garland is a contemporary romance book. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. It is a book that takes you into the world of fashion and romance. I loved reading about the characters of Gwen Mallory and Andrew Morgan. Gwen is a woman who takes her new job seriously. She is intelligent and independent. She is also finding herself attracted to Andrew, the man she now works with. She finds herself affected by him when they are in the same room together. Andrew is not only trying to adjust to working with Gwen he also can’t seem to get her out of his mind. Working very close with her doesn’t help. Although he has been through heartbreak in the past he finds that she is someone that he wants to get to know better. When these two are together you can feel a connection forming between them. Will they find that their attraction to each other is leading them into something more? The pull towards each other is strong. The passion and desire between them is undeniable. Sometimes doubts, fear, and anxiety have a way of taking over. Will they be able to find a way to balance the demanding world of fashion with the relationship that is growing between them? What does the future hold for Gwen and Andrew? Will they get an HEA? Read this book to find out. Gwen and Andrew are both characters that I grew to love with each chapter that I read. It is a story that warmed my heart and had me turning pages to find out what happens next. The book does have some steamy scenes included that make the temperature in the room rise. There are also other characters that are introduced that I enjoyed reading about both their part in the story as well as their interactions with Andrew and Gwen. This is the first story in a series and a book that I would highly recommend reading.

The story Beneath a Blue Moon (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance book. It is the second story in a series and l loved reading it just as much as the first one. It draws you in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Chase Beauchamp and Rain Connolly. Chase is a man/wolf who loves his pack and his family. He plays an important role in the pack and is always there to help his Alpha. Chase also doesn’t care for witches, doesn’t trust them. How is it then that when he meets Rain he is so affected by her? Why does he feel like he can trust her? Rain is a woman who is beautiful, strong, independent, and a witch without magic. She is feisty, compassionate, and kind. She wants to break the curse that holds her powers, that makes her an outcast. That chance seems to have appeared when she meets Chase. She is also finding herself with an attraction to him. He makes her feel alive. That these two share a connection is undeniable. When they are in a room together the sparks and energy are evident. The feelings/emotions that these two have for each other is strong. Will they be able to overcome the past and find happiness together? Will Rain finally be able to regain her magic? What does their future hold? Will they get an HEA? Read this story to find out. You can feel the passion that Chase and Rain feel for each other. There are some steamy scenes included in this story that have the temperature in the room rising. I found myself growing to love the characters of Chase and Rain with each chapter that I read. I found myself cheering them along and wanting them to find happiness together. Chase is protective of Rain and she of him. I also enjoyed reading about the other characters in the story. Some of them I recognized as they had been brought forward from the first book. This is a story that is amazing and one I would highly recommend reading.

The story Joker’s Fool (Satan’s Devils MC) by Manda Mellett is a book that truly loved reading. It is a story that draws you in from the very beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the final page. The story is the next in the series regarding the Satan’s Devils and is one that not only at times had me turning pages to find out what happens next, it also took me on a journey into the lives of the two main characters. They are both a part of Satan’s Devils. Being part of an MC is important to both of them and not something that is just given up. The club is a home and those there are brothers who would each give their lives for each other if they had to. I have always loved that those in an MC are like family. Trust and loyalty is important. One of the main characters in this story has a secret that he guards well. In this story, you can feel the doubts, fears, and anguish that this character goes through. I found myself loving to read about both him and Lady’s Man with each chapter that I read. They become characters that I could cheer for. While both the main characters are tough men they also have another side to them. This book also describes life in the MC and the lives of the other members and the ones that they love. This story includes both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. My emotions were constantly going up and down like a rollercoaster. This is a wonderfully written book that I would highly recommend reading.

Beneath a Blue Moon by Carrie Pulkinen is a must-read paranormal book! It’s the second book in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series and is my favourite book by this author. It’s intense, steamy, dramatic, action-packed and highly entertaining. From the first chapter I was able to jump right in, I was so captivated by both Chase and Rain that I read their story in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. And now that I’ve finished it I find myself wanting to read it all over again.

I would suggest reading book 1 first, as this way most of the character introductions will have already be done. Plus, the first book, Werewolves Only, is well worth a read. I can’t wait to continue this series with book 3 once released.

I would recommend this book and series to anyone looking for their next paranormal read!

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Marks of the Mazza is the first book in the Mazza Series, and incredible debut by Blake Blessing. It is a brilliant fantasy with a paranormal/reverse harem/polyamorous romance. There is also lots of action, adventure, danger, drama, suspense, and mystery. Here’s where I will come clean and admit that I usually avoid harem/reverse harem books as they aren’t really ‘my-cup-of-tea. But having said that, this book is certainly an exception to that rule…. the story has really won me over. It was the beautiful cover and the promise of an epic story that really convinced me to read the book. What I found when I opened the book is an exceptionally well written story that had me engrossed within minutes- so to then find that it’s also the author’s debut novel, just blew me away.
The characters are not just fully realised individuals with their own personalities, but they are also incredibly interesting and endearing as well. I was very quickly and easily invested in them and the outcome of their story. There was a lot going on in the book, but Ms. Blessing choreographed everything into a smooth and captivating read.
Isolde Bardot’s world as she knows it turns upside down from the moment she stumbles into the wrong ’Uber’. She discovers a whole world she never knew existed and that she has an incredible part to play in that ‘world’. The responsibility is somewhat daunting, as is the thought that she now has a Lusty Legion of men to bond with. It’s a confusing and dangerous time for her. For one, it doesn’t feel ‘normal’ to take more than one partner long-term. Then finding out magic is real and there are different realms too, has boggled her mind. But, there are plots afoot that have targeted Issy and her safety in these schemes isn’t guaranteed. So, she’s left questioning it all and feeling the weight of responsibility thrust upon her.
I LOVED this book- from the gorgeous cover to the wonderfully exciting story and the fantastic characters- all showcasing the dynamic writing and incredible imagination of Ms. Blessing.
OMG book two can’t come quick enough for my liking! I need it NOW!! I absolutely can’t wait!
Highly Recommended Reading!!!

Kudos! and thank you, Ms. Blessing!

Joker’s Fool (Satan’s Devils MC) By Manda Mellett. This story blew me away completely. I wasn’t sure what to expect but what I got was absolutely incredible. An emotional roller coaster for sure but one that you’ll want to ride again and again. This story is about finding the way to loving yourself and accepting the love another can give. This is the second book in the Crescent City Wolf Pack but can be read as a stand-alone with no problem. I am happy to say that I really did like this one. A lot. It was an even better story than book one and I felt like I connected with it more.
The main characters in this book are Chase and Rain. Chase is a were who hates witch’s and Rain is a witch who is cursed. Chase is charged with the task of handling the wedding cake for his Alphas wedding and who knew a task like that would end up with him finding his mate. They get off to such a bumpy start and I honestly wanted to SMACK them both. But I loved the chemistry between the two even when they wanted to deny it.
I would recommend this book to a friend!

Just Exes
by Charity Ferrell
5 Stars

Just Exes by Charity Ferrell is a second chance romance book. It is the story of Lauren and Gage and I was hooked from the very beginning. Lauren is a very caring person and will drop anything to help when in need. Gage is heartbroken and deep down still loves Lauren and will go to any lengths to protect her. Lauren and Gage were once a couple and things did not end well between them. But although others may think they hate each other, they still have chemistry and an attraction for each other. Will Lauren and Gage be able to work out their indifferences and fall in love for the second time? This book is a must read! This story was well written and flowed seamlessly. It was hard to put this book down. The characters are well developed and supporting characters in the story helped the storyline between the two main character. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Charity Ferrell.

Joker’s Fool (Satan’s Devils MC #8) by Manda Mellett – Review by Lucy Berson

Joker's Fool (Satan's Devils MC #8)Joker’s Fool by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Joker’s Fool, A Satan’s Devils MC Book 8, by Manda Mellett. I was so excited to read this book!!! This is Joker and Lady’s story. There were so many times while reading this book that my heart broke for Joker and the pain that he went through growing up. Thinking that he would never be accepted as he was, he tried to fake it. When Lady comes on as a prospect, he isn’t sure how much longer he can pretend. Worried that his MC brothers will never accept him, he contemplates leaving but he knows the MC is the only family he has. Sadly, it was beaten into him that he is dirty and disgusting. Lady on the other hand, had an entirely different upbringing. His mother welcomed him with open arms and loved him for who he was. Can Lady make Joker see just how good they can be together or will they both lose everything that they hold near and dear to them?
I absolutely loved this book and this series!!!! I can not wait for more!

Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1) by Blake Blessing – Review by Maura Harper

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first I’ve read by this author. MARKS OF THE MAZZA is book 1 in a new series. This book sets up future stories generally well. The characters are well described and we know everyone’s role in the story.

If you aren’t familiar with “Reverse Harem” it is when one woman is taken care of by multiple men. It is explained that while this isn’t a poly relationship, there won’t be any jealousy because the friends already love each other and want the best for each other.

There is a bit of suspense, humor, sexy times and a decent basis for a story. My ONLY complaint is that if the protagonist is so “woke” I would think she would have some resistance to her new station in life. It was just a little something that bugged me.

I will be reading future installments of this series.
