The Kitty Committee: A Novel of SuspenseThe Kitty Committee: A Novel of Suspense by Kathryn Berla
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Kitty Committee: A Novel of Suspense has all you can ask for from mystery, fear and suspense. The story grabs you in from the first page and you do not want to put it down till the last page. The story flows, is engaging and well written. Ms. Berla has a way with her words, so descriptive. The many twists and turns will leave you guessing as well as being taken on an emotional roller coaster ride. The characters are real and believable. We all know some mean girls or went to school with them. The story takes place between the past and present, but the transitions between the two are down with ease. I highly recommend The Kitty Committee.

Beneath a Blue Moon (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Madison Degraffenreid

Beneath a Blue Moon (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #2)Beneath a Blue Moon by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beneath a Blue Moon (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen
This is book two in the series and it follows Chase second in command to Luke the alpha. Chase is wary of witches and avoids anything to do with them at all costs due to an event from his past. When he meets Rain a cursed witch he tries his best to avoid her even though the Alpha has put him on cake duty which deals with her directly. He is fine with just being civil until he realizes she is his fate bound. When an energy vampire begins targeting witches his protective instincts arise. Can he protect her while also keeping his family safe from her curse. Will he be forced to pick between his mate and the pack?

I loved this novel and both the main characters Rain and Chase. Rain had a spunky personality, strong will, and was full of compassion. She looks for ways to end her curse and hates that it causes others with witch blood harm for their kindness. Chase is a great guy. He is dedicated to the pack and to his family. He also sounds mouthwatering from the description in the book. I loved following the romance between the two and the storyline was easy to follow. I could not put this novel down. That’s why I rate it 5 stars.

This is my favorite book by this author yet. It is an emotional story about a woman, Molly, who doesn’t feel very good about herself and learns to make changes with her life. She takes us on an emotional roller coaster ride that at times made me laugh to a few tears. Molly is a strong character with some insecurities. I enjoyed watching her grow throughout the story. I read this book in one sitting as it kept me engaged until the last word. I highly recommend this book.

The Boss Man (The Manly Series book 4) by Teddy Hester 4 stars

This was my first read by this author and while i was drawn into this story as its written very well, the story itself just missed a mark with me somewhere. I loved the main characters and the secondary ones as well, but I just couldn’t put my finger on why I didn’t connect with them. This was a very quick read, and in a field of work ive not read about before so that was really neat to read about. But the instant and quick turn around of Jack and not wanting forever to now seeing it with Jilly, wasn’t rubbing me right in how it played out. Their attraction is hot and off the charts and I loved the banter between them!

I love this author so much! Her books are always brilliant to read. I have to say as well I absolutely adore the front cover, so simple yet beautiful. This was a fast paced read and as always I was swept into the story straight away. I loved both Emma and Royce and they were surrounded by some fantastic secondary characters that were perfect additions to the story. I loved the twists and the turns that they author took me on and I was rooting for Emma and Royce the whole way through! They had amazing chemistry and were both genuinely lovely people. It didn’t take me long at all to fall for Royce, his determination in showing Emma that they belonged together was romantic! It is without a doubt that I would recommend this beautiful 5 star story and I can’t wait for more from Ms Anders in the future!

Repressed (Ash Park, #3)Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, what a read! I think I am still trying to process most of the book – I’m definitely glad I read it in the day!! It was dark, gritty and whilst I don’t condone the things that happen in the story it is after all a story, and one that was very well written. The book honestly left me on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion and I did have to put it down a few times to gather my thoughts! The characters were complex, Morrison and Petrosky worked well together.
I thought that the story was well paced and it was extremely well written. It’s definitely not for the fain-hearted but the author has done an amazing job with telling such a twisted story that absolutely captivated me from beginning to end. The action never stops and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough so I could see what was going to happen.
This could be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the series in order. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Series Book #6) by Mimi Barbour – Review by Angela Hayes

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6)Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

Special Agent Charli is the sixth book in the Undercover FBI series by Mimi Barbour. I have read a few of her books now and she never fails to deliver a wonderful story that captivates me right from the beginning. I particularly loved this book, not just because the story was superbly written, full of intrigue, mystery, suspense, romance, sizzle, and some drama. But because the characters were just so incredibly endearing (well, except for the killer)- these characters really are the jewels in this story- they were so lovingly crafted into fully realised individuals with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. I was immediately invested in them and this fantastic story. I was so hooked, that I devoured the whole thing in one sitting. I could feel that the author put a lot of her heart and soul into this story and I feel the love she has for her own Poppa John, he is one of the best characters I have read. I just loved him, and even though he is a ‘supporting’ character, he really added something special to the overall storyline. Because of him, the story was sweeter, more emotional, tender and touching than it would have been without him. Don’t get me wrong, Charli, Blake, Alicia/Kayla, Angie, Star, and the rest of the cast are brilliant, and I loved them all- but Poppa John just elevated the whole story for me! There is a wonderful ‘feel good quality to the storyline because of him and the characters and their connection….
There were quite a few funny, lighter moments that helped to balance some of the more intense, heart wrenching and dramatic elements of the storyline. The funny quips and banter had me smiling like an idiot or laughing out loud.
The story is told from several perspectives, which helps to give a more in-depth view of the whole thing.
This isn’t my first book of Ms. Barbour’s, but it is definitely my favourite, so far! I am really looking forward to the next book!

Thank you, Ms. Barbour!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just Exes By Charity Ferrell. First off let me just say it took me a couple days to recover from this incredibly written story. Going in I thought I’d be get a nice easy and maybe fun exes to lovers story. Instead I got a story filled to the brim with secrets, a bit of suspense and emotions that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Lauren and Gage had everything figured out until one day it just wasn’t, secrets aren’t ever easy. I love the banter back and forth because it feels genuine and believable. The characters just clicked for me, I never felt like they didn’t fit. It’s an emotional roller coaster that I really wish I could read again for the first time. Get ready for quite the ride. It’s well written and paced nicely with characters I just fell in love with completely. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.

Just Exes by Charity Ferrell is a second chance romance story that is a great read. Charity is a talented storyteller that keeps you engaged, engrossed and enthralled from start to finish. I really loved the main characters Lauren and Gage and Charity certainly put me through my paces as I felt every emotion, every hurt, every pain, every good and every bad thing that happened to them. I cried and laughed but my god what Gage went through was just heartbreaking. Gage and Lauren are very well developed and it was easy to connect to them and what they were going through. Badge Bunny (Romance in Rehoboth Book 4) by K.L. Montgomery
5 out of 5 stars

Badge bunny is the fourth book in the Rehoboth series written by Ms. Montgomery and the third book in this series that I have read. While it is part of a series it is a stand-alone. I enjoyed the characters and their quirky ways and the storyline is funny and entertaining. Also this author’s writing style as it is easy flowing and engaging.
This is Chris and Brynne story and I can promise you will get a kick out of it.
Brynne Miller’s job as an ER doctor means she’s always meeting cops. In fact, she’s dated so many that her friends/coworkers call her “Badge Bunny.” But she will never date Chris Everson. Nope. Not a chance. He managed to piss her off within two seconds of meeting him and first impressions are everything.
Aren’t they?
Chris Everson has a pretty sweet life: a great job as a state trooper, lots of buddies to hang out with, and he lives at the beach. What could be better? But he’s harboring a secret–a secret that doesn’t fit with his whole tough guy cop persona. He’s gone to great lengths to keep his secret from his guy.
They both have secrets what happens when they come out? Can they over-come them or will they walk away from each other?
I really enjoyed this book/series….

Broken Circle (Gray Ghost #1)Broken Circle by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Broken Circle is book one in the Gray Ghost Novels written by Amy McKinley. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this story, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it. Broken Circle is a sad story but it has some happy moments in it as well. Liv has had her whole world turned upside down on after she starts to questions her husband Alex’s behavior. Insert a lot of crazy, sad, exciting events can Liv survive now that her life is at stake? Will Alex’s love prove fake or real when it comes down to a life or death situation or will Liam and his team be the ones to save her.  I had a lot of questions as I was reading this story but I couldn’t put it down because I had to know how it ended. I’m looking forward to reading the next story in the series Eye of the Storm. Review by @krystalgaston

Kingdom of the Damned by Tricia Copeland
4 Stars

This book spans four centuries. It takes us on a trip from the 1500’s to present day. It was like taking a trip through history through the eyes of a vampire. This is Anne’s story. In 1557, the Edict of Compiegne allowed the witches, dressed in the cloth of the church, to hunt and kill vampires. Anne survived persecution with the help of a friend. She grows up in London and at the age of seventeen, devastation hits her again. Instead of becoming angry and vengeful, she seeks understanding and peace. Travelling the world she makes many friends and powerful enemies. She tries to unite vampires and stop the hatred between them and witches.

Anne’s strength of character is amazing. After everything she has been through, she is still a peace keeper and revolutionary seeking love and balance. The story is told from Anne’s point of view in chronological order of events through four hundred years. It seems long but there is action and intrigue to keep the story interesting. The author throws in real events in history to the book which I appreciated. There is a surprise ending which leaves you hanging. I think the author did a wonderful job laying the foundation for the rest of the series. This is the prelude to the Kingdom Journals and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Imagine feeling so safe, feeling like your past is behind you, UNTIL killings start happening. That is how Hannah felt in Ash Park, just outside Detroit. She tries to tell herself this isn’t tied to her until the killer takes the life of her boyfriend and the killings are centered on the shelter where she volunteers.
Famished by Meghan O’Flynn is the first book in the Ash Park series and let me tell you, this book was intense, this book had a plotline that drew you right in, and by the time I hit the last page I was wanting more and more. This is the first I read by this author and it won’t be the last! This thriller, had me at the edge of my seat, with the vivid detail, I could close my eyes and see this town, the characters! Conviction (Ash Park, #2)Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn us the second book in the Ash Park Series, and let me tell you, this book really got to me on many levels. I was able to really identify with the lead in this book which is something I love when I read a book. Meghan really writes powerful books with strong, passionate characters, mystery to keep you reading more and more, and plots that are very believable. What I found very appealing is the way the author kept me guessing ALLL OF THE TIME! It what made me want to read more and more and get lost in the story.
Shannon, loves her job and loves getting crime off the streets of Ash Park. Being the Ash Park district attorney, it’s her job that she has a passion for. When evidence crosses her desk, showing someone she has convicted of a crime she may not have committed, she isn’t very happy. The girl convicted isn’t telling anything, and Shannon for sure knows she is hiding something but even with freedom hanging in front of her she can’t get her to talk. When Shannon is subjected to heinous messages, she knows what she has to do and again Ash Park is NOTHING As it seems!

Repressed (Ash Park, #3)Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This one is not for the faint of heart. It’s a little dark and covers a subject not many people are fans of. While I enjoyed the story my heart was pulled out of my chest numerous times. Wishing this would happen or hoping that everything would turn out okay. I was Shocked….Disappointed….Sad and disgusted a couple times while reading. I think some of those is because I had such hope for Morrison and Shannon after Book 2. Then this book happened.

Morrison has a huge monkey on his back. We learned about this monkey in the last book. To me it was interesting but yet sad being in the mind of an addict. The dark thoughts vying for drugs while the good thoughts try to overcome. Such a struggle. Will Morrison come out the other side a solid man or a troubled one?

Each book gives us an insight to these characters. We see the good and the bad. Petrosky seems to be behind the eight ball with no desire to get out. He is a good cop who loves his new family. Hopefully they can keep him on the straight and narrow. Petrosky and “California” aka Morrison are amazing partners. They seem to help each other and their bantering makes the book a little lighter. Shannon while not having a huge part….has a huge part (read the book to understand). She is an anchor for Morrison as well as Petrosky.

This is the third book in the series and is a good psychological thriller. I felt the story was a bit slow at first (getting the story set up) but as it moved forward I could hardly put this down. The characters are amazing. This author knows how to write a crazy, mind numbing, soul searching story. I can’t wait to start reading the next one after reading the Epilogue.

I enjoyed her writing style as it is easy flowing and creative. The character are amazing, well written and I loved their banter with each other this made them feel more real. The storyline felt real.

Swearing off women after an embarrassing indiscretion at a black-tie even, Hart now indulges in drinking and working out as he tries to come to terms with his unexpected firing at a prestigious DC firm.
Gia Bates is struggling to make ends meet at her failing dance studio across town in a run down and forgotten part of the city. Secretly working part-time as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator for a seedy entertainment company has Gia feeling trapped in her debt while slowly chipping away at her passion and solace in dance.
Hart and Gia find themselves at the same party and end up on an uncertain path full of sex, secrets, and shame.
As they move forward in a spicy tango, can the two of them ever dance in sync? Will they fight for their own happily ever after or will Hart be left with nothing more than Georgia on his mind? Can these two broken people make each other whole?

By Via Mari
5 Stars

Degrees of Innocence by Via Mari is the first installment of the Prestian Series. Although it is a steamy romance novel, it has plenty of action and mystery to keep in suspense and on the edge of your seat. This is the story of Kate and Chase. Kate is a strong an independent with a no-holds barred attitude; she gets what she wants and knows how to get it. Chase is hot, Alpha male, but deep down, he has a soft side that Kate easily brings to the surface whenever she is around him. Their first encounter is an instant connection, with chemistry sparkling like fireworks. This story will suck you in from the very beginning through to the end. Via Mari created likable characters and wrote a seamless storyline that made reading a breeze and entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

Katrina is a character that is full of complications and twists and has a certain quality to her that will make you fall in love with her. Chase also can be a pain at times but there is something about him that you will adore. Great read overall.

Every Breath You Take is book three in the Bayou Devils series by AM Myers. This book can be read as a stand-alone but most supporting characters are in the other stories and it’s always nice to see their updated stories. I have to say I have enjoyed this series, this story was was steamy and crazy. Lincoln has had a crazy life, a lot of things have gone wrong for him but he still manages to love with this whole being. Tatum is a strong and independent woman who makes no true stability in her life. Both have lost someone. Will they be the piece the other needs? The story reads easy, though there is one part that could have used some warning but aside from that it flows well. I like the authors style and am looking forward to the rest of the guys in the series!

Rescued By the Scot (Romancing the Spies #3)Rescued By the Scot by Laura A. Barnes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

Rescued by the Scot is the third book in the Romancing the Spies series by Laura A. Barnes. This has been an interesting and fun series to read. Although the stories contain quite a bit of drama and violence- and I was held in suspense quite a bit- there is also a charming quality to it as well. This story is an intriguing and action-packed historical romance that has kidnapping, hidden agendas, mystery, suspense, adventure, drama, betrayal, espionage, danger, action, seduction, chemistry, romance, and passion. This is the third book in the series, and could be read as a standalone, but having said that, this book may focus on a different couple than the first and second books, but there is a continuing storyline that bridges all the books, so I really recommend reading all the books to help build a better understanding of characters, backstory, and motivations.
Zane Maxwell is a recurring character in the series, whom I was hoping we would get to see much more of. Well, we certainly get to do that in this story. Skye is a fantastic character and the chemistry between her and Zane was intense. They really were so great together. But, Ms. Barnes doesn’t make thing easy for them- they have to work for their happiness. We also get to catch up with the characters from the previous books, which I appreciated. I am hoping that this isn’t the end of the Romancing the Spies series- hopefully there is more to come.
A wonderful addition to the series and my favourite of the three!

Thank you, Ms. Barnes!

Conviction (An Ash Park Novel – Book 2) By Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Melissa Agena

Conviction (Ash Park, #2)Conviction by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an amazing book! 100% Approved! Conviction is the second book in the Ash Park series written by Meghan O’Flynn. This book follows Shannon Miller who is the Assistant District Attorney for Ash Park and Curt Morrison, who is the detective in the Ash Park Police Department. They started out as best friends, which ultimately lead to the HEA they found themselves in the end. However, this book focuses on Shannon and her family. There is a lot of depth to Shannon that we didn’t know about in the first book. It seems she’s not so hardnosed after all. Curt was always interested in Shannon but let her do her thing until she was ready for him. In the interim there is a killer out there targeting Shannon. You wouldn’t believe who it ends up being! This book is so well written! A complete emotional rollercoaster to which you need lots and lots of tissues. There are so many twists and turns that you don’t see anything coming. I had to remind myself throughout this book that there is a romantic underlining. It had all the suspense of a great murder mystery! I loved every minute of it! Now, there is only one sex scene and it was amazingly perfect! It didn’t need another scene. I also loved that we learned more and more about Curt’s partner Detective Petrosky. His character is really coming through and you really are starting to understand him more. I’m so glad that I started this series and I cannot wait to finish reading all the other books!

Anne’s whole vampire family was murdered by witches when she was just a child. Luckily, she saved by a wonderful woman and they flee to start anew. There they live a quiet life among the humans. As a young adult, her life is again turned upside down. She knows that in order for the supernatural beings to survive, they need to stop fighting one another. Along the way, she makes many allies, along with life-long friends. She makes enemies too. But the things she learns is worth it. Can she bring peace?

This book is incredible. It cover an incredible amount of time and hits on many important events that happened. Twisting them a bit to include both witches and vampires is ingenious. Not to mention how well the author has done it. She weaves a story that draws you in and makes you believe. I still can’t believe how well it was done. And Anne — wow. She is such a perfect lead character. She has flaws, like any good character, but she learns from them. She lives with her heart, and the growth she goes through really makes you feel for her. She has had such tragedies in her life, but she has never given up.

This book incredible in so many ways and I recommend this to all lovers of books.

If you have read the rest of the series, I know you wanted to read more about Zane. He is such a complicated character. You know he is driven by his heart, even if it doesn’t seem like it. You want to know if he can finally meet a woman while will make him want to settle down. This book has it all. You learn more about him and meet another wonderful character in Skye. She is something else, but you can’t help but love her. The adventure and action is also in this book too. Many things happen, and you will be on the edge of your seat trying to find out just what happens next.

A historical romance with lots of action and adventure, I recommend this book and series.

Georgia on My Mind (Southern Promises, #2) by K.G. Fletcher – Review by Robin Rankin

Georgia On My Mind (Southern Promises #2)Georgia On My Mind by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Georgia on My Mind is the second book in the Southern Promises series by K.G. Fletcher and I think I liked it a bit more than the first. There was just something about Gia and Hart that drew me in from the very start.

Hart was an immature playboy who to me acted like the world owed him. Thankfully he gets taught a very important lesson and finally decides to grow up and be the man his parents raised him to be.

Gia’s back story just made me sad. She has been through so much and she was busting her tail to hold on to the happy part of her childhood.

This was a great story and now I’m sitting here waiting for the next book in the series to release. Cannot wait to see what happens!

Moments That Define Us (Gray Ghost #0.5) by Amy McKinley – Review by Jana Teppih

Moments That Define Us (Gray Ghost #0.5)Moments That Define Us by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moments That Define Us by Amy McKinley is a heart-breaking prelude to her Gray Ghost series. I wish I had read it before I read the first and second books in the series … She was right, it totally set the stage for the rest of the series and explains so much that I did not fully grasp when reading the ‘full’ books.
It is a short story but it is crazily intense – the writer has to pack a punch, she is setting this group of teenage boys on to the road to become paramilitary protecting the abused and the week and they start with it already when they are still young and suffering themselves … it would be so easy to closer their eyes and just think of themselves and their close band of future modern day Robin Hoods but there is something in their DNA or maybe it is simply that thanks to having each other they are tapping into the deep well of humanity that is in each and every one of us but they are different… their stories are not for the feint hearted and I have to admit, I cried and cried and when I closed the book, I wished for each of them to find their happiness when the writer gives them their own story …
The focal point of the beginning is the story of Jack and Jenni and please, be forewarned, it will break your heart as their story is real and unfortunately the real life is painful …
I am impatiently waiting for the stories of the rest of the guys!
