Love Is What It Is: A holiday RomanceLove Is What It Is: A holiday Romance by Marina Hanna
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love Is What It Is by Marina Hanna. This is a fun holiday romance. Its the story of Toni who is currently seeing Clive. Clive is ok but Toni is not convinced he’s the one. When they decide to go on a vacation together she is thinking it will be ok. Good food, great sex and fun together couldn’t be that bad. One they get there the motel is a dump and Toni leaves as soon as he’s asleep and checks into a nicer hotel. Checking in she notices a hot guy and they lock eyes. Things are looking up already. Toni meet Mickey(the eye locker) and they have a steamy fun time. Clive ends up showing up at the new Hotel and he and Mickey talk and Clive leaves. Fun in the sun and sand with no feelings involved is doable right. Mickey made it clear he’s not up for a relationship but Toni is starting to catch feelings. Will they just say goodbye at the end of the vacation or will Toni make Mickey see they can make it work?

Murder in a Gated Community by Laura Koerber – Review by Tausha Treadway

Murder in a Gated CommunityMurder in a Gated Community by Laura Koerber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Murder in a Gated Community by Laura Koerber. This is such a fun romp. I thought it might be kind of dull being about older people but it is such a fun read. These people are like overgrown teenagers. Its a community of older individuals that are able to take care of themselves. Its called Oaken Acres community and the people all have drama and problems. One woman is mad because the dog is barking across the street, one is plotting to kill someone just because she doesn’t like them and one has major drama with her ex husband who is abusive. Some have animals, some have family and there are a lot of lies, betrayal, politics and friendships. I caught myself laughing out loud several times. This is a short fun read that is more than a cozy mystery!

The Book of Hours (Coin/Hours Duology Book 2) by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra. This is a great second book, in my opinion its better than the first. You can read this as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the 1st book before. Its the story of Gabriela who is a highly known artist who has enough work to sell some for a charity. Twisted Oath (Bound By Blood #1)Twisted Oath by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Twisted Oath (Bound By Blood Book 1) by A. S. Roberts. This is one of my favorite genres so I was not surprised that I loved it. Its the story of Salvatore who grew up a orphan and his one goal was to take his rightful place in his mafia family. He also plans to avenge his mothers death by getting in the family and figuring out who killed her. Serafina is on her way to become a doctor so being part of the mafia family has never really effected her. She has seen Salvatore at the beach several times over the years but they have never done more than stare at each other. Something has kind of pulls them together. When tragedy strikes she has to give up her dream to be a doctor and marry someone the Don chooses. When they marry Salvatore swears he will not fall in love with her but feelings get involved and his well laid plan may just fall apart because of that. I loved this book so much! Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite Book 4) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Tausha Treadway

Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite #4)Brutal Nights by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brutal Nights (Hidden Valley Elite Book 4) by Isla Vaughn. This is a amazing close to Damon & Skylar’s story. I really believe you need to read their first book to better understand what’s going on. When they finally take their relationship to the next level they are caught by Skylar’s mom and Gia. Naturally there is a major fallout over it. Gia is so mean to Skylar after this, calling her names, hanging with her other friends and just ignoring Skylar. They even wear #teamGia t-shirts. Its miserable for Skylar. Damon takes up for Skylar as much as he can and turns into a really sweet guy. On top of all her friend/school drama Skylar knows her mom is up to something but she can’t figure out what. Damon grows so much in this book and he finally catches up to Skylar maturity wise. Such a wonderful ending to the series and being a young adult series I never dreamed I would be so invested but I sure was. I didn’t want it to end.

Its basically an adventure of pictures and writing that takes you thru all the diverse locations of Israel. It teaches you about all the diverse culture that is in Israel along with what its like to be Jewish. The story is told in a rhyme so its easy for kids to understand and the pictures are beautiful. It also has a glossary at the end that really helped me understand what some words meant. This would make a great addition to your families library.

A Toast for Laurent (Vine Valley Book 1) by Theresa Paolo – Review by Tausha Treadway

A Toast for Laurent (Vine Valley, #1)A Toast for Laurent by Theresa Paolo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Toast for Laurent (Vine Valley Book 1) by Theresa Paolo. I had to pick up this book because I actually made a bet with one of my friends that if we weren’t married by 40 we would get married. Luckily I got married in my 20’s to someone else so I didn’t have to call in that favor. This story is the first in the Vine Valley series. Its a cute story about Laurent who was in love with Phoebe years ago and she broke his heart. When she comes sailing back into his life 20 years later wanting to call in their bet he is shocked. Laurent would never turn his back on Phoebe so he goes along with it but makes her promise to not fall in love with him because he can’t get hurt again. She agrees even though she already has feelings for him but thinks she can get away with it. I really enjoyed this book even though I got aggravated at both characters and their hard heads. I can’t wait to read more in this series. A fun sweet read!

A Teacher’s Heart by Melissa Lavi. I loved this sweet book and so did my 5 year old nephew who is going into kindergarten. Its basically telling kids that all teachers are good no matter that they may look different, wear different clothes, have different colored hair and even teach different but hey all have a very big heart. Teachers go into teaching because they love kids no other reason. This would make a great gift especially for kids about to enter kindergarten or even preschool. Such pretty pictures as well. Great story and pictures, awesome for a gift.

Hole in the Rock by Rebecca Bischoff. This is a great book for kids ages 8-12. My 10 year old nephew loved it. Its the story of Lizza who’s father is a taxidermist and she hates it. The story begins with her messing up her father’s business billboard and that causes a huge problem. She loves all animals and wants to save them all. Learning that not all people are going to agree on things and that’s ok is a huge lesson in this book. Also learning to work together even when we don’t have the same views. House of Arsceneaux (Servants of Morrigan: Immortal Creatures) by Caterina Novelliere. Such a fun vampire, paranormal, ancient history romance. This is the story of Gage and Caitlin who has been in love for centuries! Caitlin and Gage time travel in this book and its a little hard to keep up with the different versions but I still really enjoyed this book. Caitlin in present day is so very strong and really tough. She works for Sean as an investigator for Corporate takeovers. She is flown to New Orleans to invesigate vampire Evariste aka Gage who is a grouch who prefers fishing to people. She realizes that she is magnetically pulled toward Evariste and can’t figure out why. Evariste realizes that they were married in a previous life. With the help of friends they try to keep their relationship intact but with all the outside forces it difficult. Holding Up the Sky (Giants and Monsters)Holding Up the Sky by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holding Up the Sky (Giants and Monsters) by Lois Wickstrom. I love this author so much. She always writes the cutest stories and they all have a lesson in them. This one is about Colleen and her dad who is very tall and whose job it is to hold up the sky or at least that’s what everyone thinks. People are scared of her dad because he is so big! Colleen just wants everyone to love her dad and not be afraid of him so she decides to have a party so everyone can see the dad she loves. While at the party her dad lets his hands down to play with the kids and strange things begin to happen. Read this fun, cute book that teaches us that just because someone looks different doesn’t mean they are bad. My 5 year old nephew loves this book and they make great gifts as well.
