Five Stars

The Patience Of Karma is the fifth book in The Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is definitely my new favorite by Ms. Hamilton. I was hooked from the very first page, and I couldn’t put it down until I finished. The characters have grown since the first book in this series. Madeline and Mike are on to some new cases, mystery and mayhem abound. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read this series in order. You won’t be disappointed.

Vanishing Day: Logan Book 4 (The Logan McKenna Series)Vanishing Day: Logan Book 4 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Valerie Davisson is one of my favorite crime/mystery/thriller writers. Logan is a character that I cannot wait to read about her case. She grabs me from the first page until the last. There were many twists and turns that kept me reading, The story is a fast pace but again I had to make sure that I read everything because it is easy to miss one little clue that you could come to a conclusion that was a twist or a turn in the wrong direction. With every page, I felt like I was with Logan throughout the story. Logan is trying to solve another mystery that brings her choice of a friend in check. Logan doesn’t realize that her friend is not her friend. She needs to bring out a killer and has looked deeper than ever before. Can Logan bring the killer to justice? Will she get out from underneath this case? I highly recommend this book because it will leave you speechless.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Patience of Karma is the fifth book in Cynthia Hamilton’s Madeline Dawkins’ series and like every other book in the series it can be read as a standalone. My suggestion though is to read the series in the order as you will learn more about Madeline and her partner Mike with every book and every book builds upon the previous one when it comes to their story …
In The Patience of Karma we will have two cases that the team takes upon themselves to solve – one with an uncle looking for his presumed dead nephew as his niece needs a kidney transplant and he is their last hope; the other case seems to be open shut case of cheating but nothing is ever as it seems … the closer they get to solving the cases, the more surprises we encounter, the more invested we get in the outcome … add this Mike and his past that comes knocking and we have a story that throws a punch!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I feel as though every review for this series starts the same. Each installment is better than the last and my mind is blown. I feel most book series meet their expiration at book three so the fact that Valerie Davisson and Logan still have my attention, definitely says something about book 4. I thoroughly enjoyed Vanishing Day, there is sensitive subject matter written well and a storyline that once again grasps my attention from day one.
I love how the characters intertwine and of course, a strong female main character. I think of all the books in the Logan McKenna series, Vanishing Day had the most characters I really just warmed up to.
If you haven’t read any of Valerie Davisson’s writing but you enjoy a fast paced, thrilling storyline, I definitely recommend giving her writing a try. 5 out of 5 stars for this one!

THE PATIENCE OF KARMA (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery #5) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Jennifer Gordon

The Patience of KarmaThe Patience of Karma by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

‘THE PATIENCE OF KARMA’, is book five in Cynthia Hamilton’s ‘Madeline Dawkins Mystery’ series and having read and thoroughly enjoyed the previous books I was really looking forward to this latest instalment and was definitely not disappointed. This story had me hooked from page one with its exciting storyline. Private Investigator Madeline Dawkins has three cases to solve at once in this novel. In a tragic case, Madeline must help find Daniel, a drifter and who has been estranged from his family presumed dead until recently, but who is his sisters last hope of survival if he has a compatible kidney he’s willing to donate. In another case a famous composer believes his young wife is having an affair but as Madeline seeks to prove she’s innocent the truth is even more dangerous. Meanwhile, Madeline’s husband Mike Delaney is having to deal with the possible consequences to his life from choices he made over a decade ago. As Madeline and Mike work together to solve the cases they dig deep into the past to uncover the truth amongst all the secrets, but end up putting themselves in danger. In the background Madeline also has the worry of the whereabouts of her ex husband. As her and Mike tackle three of the toughest cases they have ever faced, they will both be left changed in ways they could never have anticipated.
I was hooked from the first page and the storyline was fast paced and the narrative flowed well. The plot has plenty of drama and suspense and the mystery elements kept me guessing until the end. Madeline is a great main character and heroine of the stories and I felt like I was back with an old friend whilst reading this novel. I like how the author weaves the personal aspects of Madeline and Mike’s lives into the mystery crime story. This novel can be read as a standalone story, however the reader would understand more of Madeleine’s backstory if they have read the previous books in the series. I definitely recommend this enjoyable and engaging novel and I think that it is a five star read.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in the Logan McKenna series and these books keep getting better and better. I love that they have a strong female lead character and the characters are so well written it feels like you are actually there.

In this book Logan is dragged into a mystery that she never imagined when her new neighbour ends up in hospital. Was this a random incident or is something not adding up with her new neighbour. Logan starts to think that the neighbour isn’t what she seems to be and starts on a path to draw out her attacker. But how dangerous is the path she is walking and should she really be involving herself in something she doesn’t understand.

Its a gripping story full of twists and turns that keeps you guessing.

Vanishing Day: Logan Book 4 (The Logan McKenna Series)Vanishing Day: Logan Book 4 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When your new nextdoor neighbour is not quite what you thought, will this be the next adventure.

Lori is a single mother who has moved into the house next door to Logan, although they keep to themselves. One day a commotion happens and the husband turns up looking for the daughter, the only trouble Lori has run away due to the husband being abusive. Logan involves herself to try and help Lori get away from the husband and live a happier life.

I have loved this series, getting to know Logan in each of the stories seeing her confidence grow within each story. This story hits hard as the subject matter can be a little tough to swallow but the way Valerie weaves the story makes a difficult subject matter readable and understand the reasons why Lori does what she does.

I love the way all the characters add to the story and with the plot lines weaving through it makes a interesting read, I can’t wait to read the next installment in this great series and see what happens to Logan in the next book.

The Patience of KarmaThe Patience of Karma by Cynthia Hamilton<br/
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Patience of Karma is the fifth book in the exciting Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. Private Investigators Madeline and Mike are approached with two cases that seem to grow more mysterious the longer they look into them. With Mike’s past catching up with him and adding another challenge to the pile, there’s a lot for the team to untangle.
I enjoy the format of having multiple mysteries on the go at once. It means we can be held in suspense on one side of the story while we read about another. And it’s a great way of giving us time with Madeline and Mike (as well as their employees and contacts) separately.
I really like Samir, and it was good to see him very involved in the case. He’s got a lot of useful skills that balance the team and there’s a good chemistry between him and Mike.
For me, this is a five-star read. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy having a bunch of mysteries to solve! The coastal Californian setting makes for a lovely scenic getaway as well.
This book could be read as a standalone, but the series is very good and The Patience of Karma refers to some of the events of earlier books so why not start from the beginning?

East Beach (Red Farlow Mysteries: #3)East Beach by W.F. Ranew
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give East Beach: Red Farlow Mysteries: #3 by W.F. Ranew, 5 stars.

This is another great book in a wonderful Hard Boiled PI series. The story has so many twists and turns, I dare you to keep track the entire time. But don’t worry, it will all make sense as you go on. I was never exactly of the big picture since the author made sure to throw in a few subplots, but I could not put the book down — I needed to see what happened next. Such a gripping, twisting story.

But what this author really excels at and makes them stand apart is their character development. Each and every character in this story has an extensive back story. This makes them feel all that much real and you understand them so much better. You never really know who will be important later on or not, so you are left guessing just what role the character will play later on. I enjoy this aspect of the book, it makes the story feel all that more real.

This book deals with some adult situations, so I would not recommend it for a younger audience, but if you like your detective stories gritty and fully of suspense and action, this book is for you.

Cynthia Hamilton is a wonderful author. I love Madeline Dawkins. This is her fifth book in the series about her. Every mystery has a little more bite than the last one. I found this story even better than the last one. In this book, Madeline and Mike are back sleuthing. This duo keeps the pages turning. I did talk to Madeline and Mike like they were able to hear me all the way into the book from my chair.I am able to keep my mind focused on what is going on. There are two mysteries in this book, but the clues lead to the right mystery. Can one’s past come up biting you in the rear end? Can the mystery of infidelity be a mistake or is it real? You will have to read this story to answer these questions.

by Cynthia Hamilton

Having read the other books in this series I knew this would be a good read. I, however, had no idea that I would love it as much as I did. The author stepped it up in this story with Madeline and Mike both working serious cases, then another case comes along. Each of these cases bring their own problems and twists and turns. This story drew me in from the start and kept me on the edge of my seat. This book is full of action, suspense, danger and wonderful characters. Will Mike and Madeline find the missing people they are looking for. What will happen when Mike’s past catches up to him? To find out the answer to these questions this is a must read. I have enjoyed this series since the beginning and that includes this book and I cannot wait to read what’s in store for us next. I highly recommend this book.

How I love Madeline and Mike in THE PATIENCE OF KARMA (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery #5) by Cynthia Hamilton. These mysteries are the gift that gives more than you expect. I love the good solid personalities that these two have, their constant introspection, how they examine their motives, I just love the whole process they go through to justify their actions. I especially liked this mystery because of the deeper truths about the homeless and addiction. Things we know about but we don’t really think too deeply about. But we should. I love that the author weaves this into her stories. I have never been disappointed in any of Cynthia Hamilton’s stories and this was no exception. I think you will enjoy this one just as much as I did.

VANISHING DAY (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 4) by Valerie Davisson . I have absolutely loved this series and this book was no different. Its the continuing saga of Logan McKenna whose new young neighbor is brutally attacked and left for dead. The only witness to the attack is the victim’s 3 year old daughter. When the police hit a dead end in the case Logan decides she has to find out what happened and why. As Logan starts digging she realizes her neighbor isn’t who she says she is and the danger is getting really deep. Finding out Lori, the victim, is in an abusive relationship or trying to flee from the relationship makes the case even more dangerous but that has never stopped Logan before. Will Logan and Brian find out who is trying to kill Lori and why before its too late for Lori and Logan? Each of these books can be read as standalone but they are all so good I highly recommend reading them all. The relationships and messes Logan gets herself into are so good. Just be prepared that once you start this book you won’t want to put it down!

This is book 5 in the Madeline Dawkins series and these stories just keep getting better and better.

Now Madeline and Mike are finally married and running the successful PI business together but things are as they seem. Someone is watching them. Is it someone from Madeline’s past or someone from Mike and will this person destroy their happiness.

Case wise they are on two cases again. First they are trying to find a missing person in order to save his dying sister. As they start to discover things about the person they are unsure if this is just a missing person or if the person doesn’t want to be found because of a more sinister reason.

The second case is a rich musician who hires them as he thinks his younger wife is having an affair. Will the PI’s uncover an affair or will the truth be stranger and more dangerous than any of them realise.

These books are so gripping and the discoveries keep you guessing from start to finish. The characters are strong and well written that you cant help but identify with them and all they go through.

East Beach is the third book in the Red Farlow Mysteries series by W.F Ranew. This is an in intriguing murder mystery, with crime investigation, PI, drama, danger, drug dealers, and some surprising developments. I enjoyed the previous book, but this is definitely my pick of the bunch, so far.
Red Farlow gets a strange message from a friend that has him concerned. When he arrives, he finds his friend on death door, having been shot. With his final words ringing in his ears, Red is determined to discover who shot his friend and why. And so the mystery begins.
As with the previous books, this is a detailed and descriptive story that is cleverly woven. There were a few minor issues for me, but they didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the story.

Thank you, W.F Ranew!

Book four in Davisson’s ‘Logan McKenna Mystery Series’ and having read the previous novels in the series I was looking forward to this one and was definitely not disappointed. Back with our fearless and extremely likeable independent heroine Logan McKenna and I felt as though I was back with an old friend. When Logan’s new young neighbour is viciously attacked by an unknown assailant and left for dead, Logan realises that her neighbours three year old daughter is the only witness to her mothers attack. The police investigation soon comes to a halt without any leads and so Logan decides to do what she does best and investigate herself. However Logan soon discovers that her neighbour is not who she said she was and her efforts to uncover the truth of what happened put Logan herself in extreme danger. Yet again I was hooked from page one with a Logan McKenna Mystery. This story kept me gripped from beginning to end as the storyline was action packed and fast paced and the mystery element of the plot kept me guessing. The characters are all well defined and interesting in their own right but Logan really does bring the story together for me. Although each story in the series can be read as a standalone novel I think the reader will have a better understanding of Logan’s backstory if the series is read in order. I look forward to future books in this enjoyable and engaging series.

The Patience Of Karma is the th5 book in the excellent Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone. The Madeline Dawkins series is a collection of extremely well written detective stories that are captivating and you won’t want to put down.
In this 5th book, Madeline and Mike are now married and are happier than they have been in a long time but is one of their new cases about to cause a rift to their new marital bliss? Madeline and Mike have 3 new cases and have a lot on their plate.
I loved that their assistant Samir had a much bigger role in this book and hope we will continue to see more of him.
As with the previous books in this series, this book grips you straight way and keeps you gripped throughout. This book is very well written and the story is intricate and flows along well, keeping the reader highly engaged. I’m sure I’ve said in reviews of previous books in this series but I’m amazed at how well Cynthia Hamilton writes such intricate storylines and she’s done it again with The Patience Of Karma.

I loved reading the book EAST BEACH (Red Farlow Mysteries No. 3) by W.F. Ranew. It is a story that includes secrets, mystery, and danger. I was pulled in from the very beginning. This book has PI Red Farlow finding Joseph Trammell dying in his home. Who had shot and killed Joseph Trammell? Read this book for the full story. This is a book that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I loved reading about the character of Red Farlow. He is intelligent, resourceful, and once on an investigation has a fierce determination to find the truth. He would be someone I would want to hire as a PI. This story has many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Many characters are introduced and many of them help Red in his investigation. Then some have other plans and agendas. They don’t care about anyone but themselves. This is a who-done-it that is exciting and entertaining to read. You won’t be able to put it down until the final page. The author does a wonderful job of making the story and the characters come alive. I would highly recommend reading this book and series.

The Patience of Karma is the fifth book in the Madeline Dawkins series and this book follows on from the intense stories that have rocked these two loveable characters.

The story sets up with them having been married for four months and they are still delving into the world of the PI’s while still trying to escape her ex-husband and with secrets threatening to shake there world, it’s just another day in the lives of these two characters.

This next adventure has them searching for a lost nephew who could save his sister, they are engaged to follow a woman who’s famous husband thinks she is having an affair and many more come out of the woodwork.

This story continues to enlighten you with the history of the two main characters although this story heavily sides towards Mike which is great to see inside such a brilliant developed character. Although there is a arc that runs through all the books you can still read this as a standalone. With the twists and turns, drama which is associated with a Madeline Dawkins book this one does not disappoint. I can’t wait for the next installment in this great series.
