My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had not read the first in series but I wish I had. The book is well written and will captivate all audiences though it is aimed towards 9-12 year olds. This story has so much imagination and the words will bring you so much imagery that you feel like you are in the story. I plan to go back and read the first one and then this one again. Great story!

Born to Die (The McIntire County Series: #2)Born to Die by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my! I really love Winter Austin’s writing style. I just finished the first book in the series last week and was thrilled to get to read the second so quickly. And she did not disappoint at all! This is a stand alone but I definitely recommend reading the first story Atonement, so you can get the back story of Cassy. I can’t wait for more of the McIntire County series. Winter Austin has quickly become a favorite in my list of authors.

I remember having pen pals when I was in elementary school. Of course we wrote to people in the United States though. I loved the story and how we learned just as much as Amaleigha about Ukraine. It was wonderfully written and perfectly detailed for young children.

Atonement (The McIntire County Series Book 1) by Winter Austin – Review by Tonya Merritt

Atonement (The McIntire County Series: #1)Atonement by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m not sure why I thought this book would be about anything but murders and cops but I did; Legitimately thought it was about religion and other things but was surprised to start reading and it wasn’t. I love the storyline following Nic through her days as she struggles with ptsd and Con who just wants to help her and figure out the problem all while trying to catch a murderer. Shew. It is a suspenseful tale, full of twists, turns, chemistry and so much more.

This is my favorite couple in The Elite series. I absolutely love the story of Aspen and Phoenix. I also absolutely hate the cliffhanger and cannot wait for the new book to be released! If you haven’t read Cruel Love don’t read this one because you will be behind. A great series to read.

As Though You Were MineAs Though You Were Mine by J. Marie Rundquist
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book got me all the way to the end where it made me angry in the surprise twist. Ugh. And I mean that very loud and obnoxiously. No, in seriousness it was a great book, and had all the proper feelings. It’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you cry. I do wish I learned more about Mikey but it wasn’t a necessity for the story. Definitely recommend, keep tissues close by though!

Murder Creek (Eve Sawyer Mystery, #1)Murder Creek by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

If you are nosey like me you’ll keep reading this book regardless of how much you aren’t sure about how it is told. The story line was real quick. It does feel like there is a lack of detail but it is a good story. A lot of twists and turns that are unexpected but they hit you all at once. It was worth reading to the end and learning what happened at Murder Creek.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It honestly took me a long time to get into this story. I did continue to read it though. I guess because I caught on quickly on what was going on and who was behind it. It is a sweet love story. The idea behind coming back into your first loves life and them loving you the same is great. I wish the story wasn’t so drawn out so that there was more to the ending but overall I believe that it is a good read.

It is an easy read and allows you vivid imagery.

Xenia Navarro and the Magic Ants by Lois Wickstrom and Milagros Darling – Review by Tonya Merritt

Xenia Navarro and the Magic AntsXenia Navarro and the Magic Ants by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Xenia Navarro and the Magic Ants is a few steps up from the normal Lois Wickstrom books. Still a children’s book but an older child. I believe children in fifth grade to seventh would love this story, maybe even earlier than fifth grade if they like chapter books. It has all the science and imagination you see in all her books. It is a wonderful tale co-written between Milagros Darling and Lois Wickstrom. They do an excellent job of telling the story easy and not getting you lost in the magic or science of it.

I’m definitely crying. Judge me all you want. I just met Shadow in the book before and wasn’t ready to let go myself. I did enjoy this story that is teaching children about euthanasia and how it’s humane. My favorite part is the family not leaving Shadow even though Shadow wasn’t as much of a pet as Oscar and Emmy.

I really enjoyed this story. Not only does it tell children what happens with strays but it also teaches them how to save the cats from reproducing too many offspring. This is a sweet tale of stray cats and what should be done to help save their lives. I also learned something new with the ear clipping.

Lois Wickstrom tells a great children’s story. This time is no different. It isn’t my favorite by her but still a great story! I can’t wait to read this story to my nieces and nephews. I know they will love it just as well. Who doesn’t want to be from outer space at that age?

Dead Keen (Things Unseen #2)Dead Keen by Anise Eden

The second book in the Things Unseen series. I definitely recommend reading the first story Dead Sound before even starting this story. This story goes into more of Con and his family while still following Neve as well. This story was a bit more twisted than Dead Sound. After reading the first story I expected so much different and was blown away by the story twists.
