Ways to Improve Bailey by Cori Cooper – Review by Tonya Merritt

Ways to Improve BaileyWays to Improve Bailey by Cori Cooper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I began this book and wasn’t sure I was gonna like it. The story kinda started slow for me and I wasn’t thrilled with the characters but then I got to Bailey’s date with Tanner and everything changed for me. I couldn’t put the book down. I loved it. Definitely recommend reading it and if it seems slow do not give up at all on it. It really was a great book.

In this dark fantasy you’ll see action, drama, mystery, and suspense. The story has great characters and will mold you into the dystopian feel. I recommend reading the first book in this series, ‘Ashes of Aldyr’ before reading Ghosts of Alda. A good story that will take you into a wild place.

This is my first book by author Anna Gomez and I am very impressed. I would definitely check out some of her other stories. This story follows Tessa in her journey through life with love. Sacrifice Bunt (Ground Rule Book 2)Sacrifice Bunt by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the first book from the Ground Rule series so I figured this one would have to be a great one as well. It did not disappoint. It can be read as a stand alone but I do recommend reading the first book so you know a bit of back story about some of characters. Noah has never forgotten Zara, not that she could be forgotten after their experience together. This is a super fun romantic sports story.

This book is a must love small town romance book. You know the good lifetime feeling books? This is it. I really loved how realistic the story could be. Who didn’t make a pact as a kid with their best friend? I really enjoyed the imagery. The story is full of everything you’d want on a slow day when you want to escape into another life.

House of Arsceneaux (Servants of Morrigan: Immortal Creatures) by Caterina Novelliere – Review by Tonya Merritt

House of ArsceneauxHouse of Arsceneaux by Caterina Novelliere
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The story starts slow and can be hard to get into. The name changes did nothing to keep you following but I did love the characters, the plots, and the Morrigan. The story has a lot going on between the adventure, romance, and history; It’s a decent read. If you have some time and want to read a paranormal story this one is the one for you.

A Teacher’s Heart by Melissa Lavi – Review by Tonya Merritt

A Teacher's HeartA Teacher’s Heart by Melissa Lavi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Teacher’s Heart is a sweet story of how all teachers are different. Melissa Lavi describes how teachers can be different in appearances, teaching styles, personalities, and gender. The best thing about the teachers though is how teachers all love real big because they have big hearts. I think this story will teach kids a lot about teachers and going into school. That it isn’t scary and they are safe. That teachers will love them.

Falling Again: A Buckeye Falls NovelFalling Again: A Buckeye Falls Novel by Libby Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the Buckeye Falls series. So much happens in life when you are an adult and you have jobs and kids and everything; sometimes your relationship falls between the cracks. Is that what has happened to Anthony and Natalie? Is there any way for them to fall back in love? I liked this book but it did take me some time to get into.

Lois Wickstrom at it again. This story of Colleen and her dad was full of fun and imagination. The way the words intertwined with the pictures made it a fun delight for kids of all ages. A great story to read to your child good night. And a reminder that sometimes fun is fun but responsibility is greater.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Isla Vaughn has done it again, in this Hidden Valley Elite series, we finally follow the other Savage brother, Damon. I really enjoyed this book better than the first in the series but only because I love Damon’s character better than Cole. A great story line to follow with some scrumptious sexual scenes. Vivid imagery and intense feelings to be had. The cliffhanger ending has me dying for more.

Let me fangirl scream some. I absolutely loved this story. The sexual tension, the plot, everything! I know it’s based like the television shows but I’m not a big television person and this book kept me way more interested than tv. I absolutely recommend this story.

Acting counsel is a spin off of the Married Blind book. It isn’t the same storyline but a more of a quiet lovers story. I enjoyed it. A modern playboy falling for the lawyer. It is a sweet tale with some added spicy scenes to help fuel your imagination. Morgana Bevan showing us that she can write multiple stories with different plots.

Walk OffWalk Off by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are quite a bit of sex scenes in the story, just a warning for those people who aren’t into that. I however loved the story and the scenes. To think about a man loving you so much he can’t ever keep his hands off you. Shew. The storyline is a great one too. Did Celia mess up everything by lying?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Seen is a sci-fi story in a dystopian world. This book was a little out of my normal wheel house of books but I didn’t hate it. Lori Nelson does a great job of engaging you in the story. It’s full of adventure, drama, action, revenge, Everything! It is a pretty fast paced story though with a lot going on.

Living with Conviction: A True Crime Memoir by Toby Dorr – Review by Tonya Merritt

Living With Conviction: Unexpected Sisterhood, Healing, and Redemption in the Wake of Life-Altering ChoicesLiving With Conviction: Unexpected Sisterhood, Healing, and Redemption in the Wake of Life-Altering Choices by Toby Dorr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m not sure if I loved this book as much as everyone else will or does. It is well written and of course it tells her own life story which is wonderful but I think my personal feelings got into the way a bit with it. I’m usually pretty open minded. This book had me questioning so much with no room for excuses. I’m not saying it’s a bad book because she did a wonderful job telling her story but sometimes you just don’t mesh with the story whether real or not. I do recommend reading it for yourself so you can see for yourself.

This story is an emotional ride. It takes a few pages to really connect and get into it but when you do woah what a turbulence crash filled ride. Such an original story and has a not normally thought of plot. There are three different points of view throughout the book giving you perspective from all the characters. Great read.

The Wandering Isles (The Crown of Stones)The Wandering Isles by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a novella so you can read it alone but it is nice to know a little background to the characters. It told the story of Ian very well giving you a new version you didn’t expect from the other books in the series. A unique insight into the Crown of Stone series. The books are always full of adventure and this one is just as much!

Fireflies (The Physical Collection)Fireflies by A.R. Hadley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just an ahead warning, there is a constant stream of sex. If you are into that, this is the book for you. If not I’d stop before you get too far in. I’m pretty open minded so it didn’t bother me. I do wish there was more story but I believe the details in the encounters are well written. The two men are looking for a woman to join their relationship and it tells you of their path to find the one.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the Central Florida series but since it’s a stand alone it isn’t a must to read the first two, which can always be nice. Though I do recommend any book by Victoria Saccenti. This book is on spice level 3000. If you aren’t into smutty spice don’t even begin to read it. A great storyline to follow the sexual encounters and who doesn’t love a storyline to go with it.

Bound by the Hinterlands by Bree M. Lewandowski – Review by Tonya Merritt

Bound by the HinterlandsBound by the Hinterlands by Bree M. Lewandowski
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bound by Hinterlands takes a few pages to get into. It is written in Early Modern English to bring you into the piece. It is a quick book to read. It did take me a bit longer than normal because I had to rearrange my thought process. Don’t judge. The story is a tale of a woman who has a father who is abusive and has arranged a marriage. Will the arranged marriage be a fall or will she fall for this handsome stranger?

I can never decide which books by Lois Wickstrom are my favorite because every time I read a new one, I love it. This is an Alex the Inventor book and it’s one of my favorites. I love the science involved and how everything is explained in a way a child would understand and wonder. Lois Wickstrom has a way with teaching children the things that you don’t think about teaching them.
