Admittedly, I LOVE a good historical romance. And thankfully this book definitely did not disappoint. The main characters and wonderfully crafted. The reader is immediately transported and immersed into Scotland. I kept thinking if I just closed my eyes and opened them I would “wake” to bonny Scotland. If the Highlands call to you, you MUST read this book ASAP.

Melissa Keir has done a beautiful job weaving this tale in such a way to engage the reader immediately and leave them wanting more. This novella has a beautiful relationship to follow with Tuesday and Blake. Their romance has plenty of baggage to overcome and the author does a fantastic job developing the characters and plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read and didn’t want it to end. Cannot wait to read more from Keir.

Isabella’s Painting was a great 5 star read and the first book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series.
Karina is a lawyer who discovers something mysterious when she is attending a party with her boyfriend at his parents home. Of course her curiosity peaks and she does some investigating, could she have seen a piece of artwork that was part of a historical unsolved robbery?
I’d gotten it into my head that I would crack a case that neither the FBI, nor highly skilled art detectives, nor investigative reporters had done in the past twenty-eight years. How silly of me
Will Karina’s curiosity bring danger to her doorstep? Will she be able to solve the mystery?
We meet several great secondary characters that added a great element to the story, my favorite was Molly. I really liked Karina, she had me LOL so many times, she was very smart and independent. I really like a book that has me guessing throughout the story, I was thrown off when it twisted in a completely different direction on me. This is my first read from Ellen and I was pulled right in by her writing. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Truly Unfortunate by C. A. King is a five star novel. I have read other books by this author and have loved them all. Even though this is not the normal genre of books that I read, her writing style is fantastic and makes the reader really need to know what is going to happen next. The book continues to go back and forth in time from when Truly was a child and then as she is a twenty something. When Truly is growing up, she feels like she doesn’t belong and no one likes her. The kids at school are brutal. When one of them has an accident and dies, no one thinks twice about it. The girl who died was the typical mean girl and everyone just thought it was fate for something terrible to befall her. But then other people in Truly’s life start dying too. Now it is time to find out if Truly has something to do with it or not. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series when the author returns!

Truly Unfortunate was a unique and slightly twisted read. You have this character Truly who has no memory and is surrounded by bad luck. She did everything she could to stay on a good path. There was always someone there putting her down. I was shocked when all the crazy deaths started happening. But was excited for the twist the author threw in the book. I am a firm believer in karma. I think the punishment for the characters crime was extreme but they were wrong. The only thing I wish was different was the details about Truly. She really had no personality and we don’t really get to know her. But I did see the point the author was making this was a story about a mysterious town. I say read this story because it’s a little twisted and if you have a dry or dark sense of humor it’s perfect.

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2) by Lynda Filler was a fast pace, steamy, interesting, crazy read, with a surprise touch of action, that rounds out this original tale of love, lust, and the dark underbelly that this world has to offer.
Talk about a book that has it all. Shoot me, the second book to the Lie to Me series, was a different type of addition. The first book drags you to the depths of the back streets of male escorts, but ends on a note where you don’t know if the story will continue. This one picks up well after the fact, with our couple from the first, split. You’re left with a sense of aw before you’ve even started. So I do highly suggest reading that first book, even if this one, sort of reads like a standalone.
Like the first, we’re led on a journey that starts out a light, but as the pages flip and you get pulled deeper into this world, the tone gets darker, things get scary and, at one point I got worried for Lynda. She grew so much in this book, I didn’t think it was possible. But Lynda shows us a different side, and if this series continues I can’t wait to see where the authors takes her next.
Well rounded and just an intriguing read, I highly suggest getting your hands on this not so sweet, dark romance. The elements will shock you, the detail will draw you, and Lynda will become apart of you.

I felt all Layla’s emotions in this book and now I will wait for the next as I absolutely need it! Love this authors style of writing it just wraps you up and gets you lost in her world for a bit.

Shoot Me: A Lie To Me Novel By Lynda Filler. This book definitely isn’t a standalone alone so go one click book one and one click this one also. This author is quickly becoming a one click author for me, the attention to details is beyond amazing I always feel like I’m a part of the story or just reading it. This story is filled to the brim with emotions, action and steamy parts. But most of all it’s filled with amazing characters with amazing stories just waiting to be shared. From Page one I was hooked and knew I’d be reading it in one sitting because I just couldn’t stop. It’s well written and paced nicely. The Killmores is a phenomenal story that held me captive from the beginning until the very end. It’s the second book in Martha Sweeney’s Killmore series and it’s quite possibly my favourite book by this author to date. I would strongly suggest reading book 1 first as this story follows exactly where it left off.
The Killmores is captivating, intense, detailed, riveting, action-packed and so unbelievably entertaining. I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I felt so invested in Laurie and Aiden’s story that I even got emotional shedding a tear or two. Honestly I felt so sad when I reached the end since I could have continue to read about the two of them for hours. I’m already looking forward to re reading this book again!

Truly Unfortunate by C.A. King is the first book in the new series Welcome to Knollville. Truly doesn’t remember her childhood and is struggling to pay for counseling to hopefully unlock the secrets of her life. Jeff is a police officer and he is seeing a pattern in some cases that he is working on. This is a spooky at times but definitely intriguing book. There is a paranormal thriller that I didn’t want to put down. I was intrigued by the moment I started and wanted to find out Truly’s story. She is a great character. As usual C.A. King sets up a great story with plenty of detail to give a clear image of everything and everyone. I am so happy to have a new series to start that King is writing. I look forward to see where the series goes.

A Tangy Christmas Kiss is the second book in the Christmas Kiss series by Allyson R. Abbott. This is the story of Mel who is sent to Spain to take care of her aunt’s home during the holidays. On her trip, she meets Lucas. The two have an instant connection despite a major language barrier. On her house sitting Mel discovers that there is much she does not know about her aunt. This is a sweet, romantic read. I enjoyed that it was a quick read and with an uplifting story. The characters are sweet and there is a bit of innocence to them. The story just flows and I didn’t want to put it down. I had to find out if everything worked out for Mel. I also enjoyed the importance of family and how they all played a part in the story. I look forward to reading more in the series.

A Must for Christmas: A Darling Cove Novella, by Deborah Garland, is a great holiday romance. The author introduced Faith and Greg in the start of the series. This latest book gives the reader a further view into their story with a holiday twist. This story provided everything that I enjoyed from other books in the series and gives me more. More intrigue, a little bit of drama, and a true feeling of family. A quick read loaded full, it didn’t feel rush or lacking in any way. The author brought us back to Faith and Greg, knowing not everything is always easy flowing, but sometimes obstacles come along and you have to work to maintain your happiness. Beautifully written.

So hopefully you started with book one, Killmore, because this book is going to blow you away just as much and make a lot more sense to you if you do so. Also it will prepare you to clear your calendar like I did for this one. I knew I had to have a day set aside to devour this in one sitting. I completely neglected life and adulting for the first one and I just couldn’t manage to miss a moment here either. I was a skeptic that I would love this one as much given that Killmore topped my favorite read of all of Martha Sweeney’s novels and was a top five reads of 2018. This one is a continuation of the story of Laurie and Aiden, both of which are great strong and relatable characters. I really can’t find a way to share any of the juicy details without spoiling the greatness of the story for you so for any of that you will have to pick up this gem and devour it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed that you did! I can’t wait to see what will come next from Ms. Sweeney! Thanks for the great reads!
A Tangy Christmas Kiss is the 2nd in the four book series by Allyson R. Abbott. While I have read the first book, they are unrelated stories and can be read as a standalone. The book is about Melanie (Mel) and her crazy Christmas adventure. She gets a sudden, urgent request from her mother to go to Spain to take care of her aunt, after a surgery. Upon arriving at the airport, she gets some bad news, and has a big decisions to make. She takes the plunge and boards the plane anyway, and thus begins a series of awkward situations. She soon finds herself in a country she cant speak the language, and is in way over her head. She must rely on two strangers to get her through the next couple of weeks. I had a hard time figuring out where the book was going, as there is so much unknown until the very end. Typically I like a good mystery romance, but I wasn’t as hooked on this book as I was book 1. It is a cute story and there are some funny parts. I liked seeing what became of Mel and her two Spanish men. Overall it was still a good book, and I will continue the series to see if book 3 wins me back.

I must admit I like a good mystery book once in a while. This was a great find as this is my first book by this author. The book has just the right amount of drama and really grabs the reader from page one. I was at the edge of my seat awaiting to find out what would happen next.
I found that Karina’s character was very realistic. I found myself being transported into the book as she delves into the museum heist mystery. The drama between her and Patrick just adds to the drama in the book. The whole way that things unfold along with the darknet auction to the mob connections I just couldn’t put this book down. I found my adrenaline running as I am sure Karina’s would be as she followed each lead to the heist. I look forward to reading more not only from this series but also this author.

A great read about expectations. After the events of the previous novel, Trinity has to prove to the Watchers that she can fulfil her destiny while worrying if Blain will succumb to the darkness. At the same time Melia sends armies of Rogues to attack Trinity and her friends. Can she fulfil her destiny and restore the balance? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. A great example of building upon a sequel with new developed characters like Anna as bold and brave but kind underneath or Becky as a fun new friend. I also loved the mix of realism with school and fantasy of the watchers and magic which was combined beautifully done. Along with fast paced action with high stakes and gripping fight action scenes for a captivating read. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel in the natural imagery with the grass lake outside the cabin as a source of calm Or the magical sense of the moon over the battle later on in the awe and majesty of nature. And the use of colour with Watchers powers and light and dark vivid and beautiful. Overall, a great read about and I would give it five stars.

Dangerous Ground is part of the Under Ground series. It is the fifth book and should be read after books one through four. This book goes a little deeper into Tina and Chase’s story. The way Alice Rachel writes reminds me of a music composer. She starts with an introduction which is the same for all the books so far. The read is slow and steady, and comforting because it is familiar to the series. The main body is an “allegro” or a brisk walk. Tina and Chase’s story is like the allegro because Tina grew up in an affluent house. There was not a need for anything. Whereas Chase did not, he grew up in the poor community. When Tina and Chase get together they are going at the “allegro” pace. This means that the story is moving at a good pace and I could not wait to turn the page. All of the nitty gritty takes place here. This where the trigger points may happen: depression, suicidal thoughts, and alcoholism are talk about so if you are sensitive to these triggers you are aware that it is here where those take place. Then the “andante” or slow walking pace movement takes us to the end of the story. This is where the action slows down but still at a nice pace and you can see where Alice Rachel is going with this installment of the Under Ground Series.

A Tangy Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott is the second book in the Christmas Kiss series. This book can be read as a stand-alone. This book is a fun and lovable holiday romance about a woman trying to help out her family. It isn’t as straight forward as it should be and hilarity soon follows. I really enjoyed this book because it was one of those stories that you could easily just lose yourself in for a few hours. You can turn off reality and just enjoy a well written and entertaining story. The main character Mel was delightful to read about. She takes everything in her stride – even though everything is going wrong. I liked how, despite it being an odd request, she still helps out her family. This was a great book and a good addition to the series.

Isabella’s Painting is the opening act of Ellen Butler’s Karina Cardinal Mystery series. It is my first encounter with the writer and I am sure it will not be last. She will be one of the writers I will go back to when I need my next fix of straight up mystery. Isabella’s Painting is the story of Karina Cardinal, lawyer turned lobbyist who happens to stumble upon a mystery and being the person she is, she cannot let it go and start investigating putting her own life and also of the other’s in danger. Luckily for her, she has an FBI connection so off she goes into danger, intrigue, action, drama, mafia, humour and some romance sprinkled in! The story is fast paced and as you get pulled in from page one, at times it feels like it goes too fast (but that is only because I would have loved to linger more) but that is ok as there will be another mystery so we will get more of the gorgeousness of Karina and co! And for you, the detailed orientated mystery buffs? Isabella’s Painting should be just down your alley!

Shoot Me is the second book in the Lie To Me series by Lynda Filler and it follows on straight from where the first book Lie To Me ended. Well, 3 weeks after the first book ended. You could technically read this book as a stand-alone but I’d strongly advise that you read Lie To Me first as this book will make much more sense if you have read what preceeds this story. I struggled a bit with the first book and gave it 4 stars as it was written from many points of view. This book is written from the point of view of only a few characters and thus I found it much easier to follow and therefore enjoyed this book much more. Not saying that I didn’t enjoy the first book as I did. I just enjoyed this one more. This book starts with Layla still mourning the end of her relationship with Mateo and struggling to move on. When she receives a call from her publisher offering her a deal to write another 2 books as they loved her first one so much, she moves to Guadalajara to research her next book. Here she gets caught up in the seedy world of cartels and often finds herself in danger. She makes many new friends, most of which are male, and continues to ‘indulge’ herself in hot young men. I really enjoyed the journey that the author took me on in this book and hope that there will be more to come from the Lie To Me series.

Beachcomber Gone is the ninth book in the Beachcomber Investigations series by Stephanie Queen. This is a romantic detective series with mystery, suspense, some drama, action, intrigue, danger, set-ups, and more… This story could be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading some, if not all the other books, just to get a better understanding of these wonderful characters, their backstories and everything they’ve been through to get them to this point. Another brilliant instalment from Ms. Queen. There really is so much to love about this series and characters, and I have become quite emotionally invested in Shana and Dane’s lives- all the while following them on their investigations/adventures and trying to unravel everything and piece it all together as it all plays out. I never tire of Ms. Queen’s stories, and she manages to pull me in each and every time with her addictive plots and descriptive style. Her attention to detail makes the stories come to life in a very realistic and believable way. The characters are complex, a little quirky and entirely endearing. Ms. Queen always delivers, and this book is no exception! As Dane and Shana look to take their relationship to the next level, they travel to Australia so Dane can meet Shana’s family. But with these two, danger is never very far away. So, before the first chapter has even ended, Dane and Shana find themselves thrown headfirst into a case that will test them on every level. With set-up, old cases and enemies coming back to haunt her- the action, tension, conflict and danger had me on the edge of my seat. Can they find a way out of this predicament, or will this be the case that breaks them? Another brilliant Beachcomber novel. I love catching up with these two characters and their stories just seems to get better and better as the series progresses!

There is hilarity, funny antics, language barriers, challenges, romance, and endearing characters. There was a lot more to this story than it may seem from first appearances. Melanie (Mel) had me intrigued right from the first page, as I followed her on her story. From the moment she gets the call from her mother asking her to look after her aunts’ home while her aunt is in hospital- everything that could go wrong certainly does. Her promise to her mother takes her on a mad-cap journey that throws her right out of her comfort zone, leaving her feeling a little lost and vulnerable. But what happens when a sexy stranger comes to her aid? Yes, there might be a serious language barrier, but he seems to want to help her non-the-less. Will she be desperate enough to let a complete stranger help her? What happens when he sees her to her destination? Mel is unprepared for everything that’s about to happen, once she arrives at her aunts. What will the future hold? All this and more can be discovered be reading this delightful story… Ms. Abbott has such a wonderfully descriptive, warm, and inviting style to her writing. Her stories always draw me in and keep me engaged the whole way through. They are so easy to read and always leave feeling good- as this story did. This may be a story set around Christmas and the holidays, but it is a lovely story that deserves to be read, and enjoyed, at any time of the year!

“Truly Unfortunate” is the first book in the Welcome to Knollville series by C.A King. C.A King’s newest fascinating character is Truly. She doesn’t remember anything from her childhood and works three jobs just to pay for her crappy apartment and the therapy she needs. Strange events start to occur in her small town of Knollville and Knoll County’s most skeptical police officer, Jeff, is on the case. I was so excited when this book got released since I am a HUGE fan of C.A King and her Portal Prophecies series. C.A King has an incredible talent of creating these other worlds and interesting characters that I wish I could visit. Every book I have read, and there have been several now, are wildly imaginative and unpredictable in every sense. C.A King is one of those authors whose brain I wish I could peer into and see how she sees life. Her imagination and creativity never cease to amaze me. I am so excited for more of this series to come out so I can continue to love them, as I know I will. Five obvious stars from me! Now to download a bunch more of her books to tide me over until more Welcome to Knollville books come out!!

I was pulled in right from the very first page it was a fast paced story with enough romance and drama to keep you on your toes and eager to find out what will happen next. I loved Tuesday shes a loving kind women who’s moved to escape her past. I fell inlove with the storyline the author has a way of drawing you in with her beautiful writing. Even though it was a short read it still packed a punch and left me wanting more!

Dangerous Ground: Tina And Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel, Underground Series

This was a tragic, romantic, realistic novel. I could not put this book down. I do recommend that the reader read the other books in the series since it can be confusing at times. So much happened in this novel with both Chase and Tina. At times I was cringing while reading because of the violence taking place but I could not put it down. The scenarios in this novel seem so realistic and I could see things like this possibly trying to happen. I loved both the main characters personalities. I found both to be strong and courageous in their own ways. Chase’s character was my favorite. I couldn’t believe how much heartache he went through at the start of the book. It would have broken me but somehow, he managed to just barely hang on. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Truly Unfortunate by C.A. King a thrilling five-star read. This is the first book in the Welcome to Knollville series and what a start, I have read this author before, but this novel seemed in a league of its own. The phycological thriller aspect of the read keeps you so hooked that your heart will be in your throat and your heart will be pumping out of your chest. Then there is the world building and drama and the plot, agggghh I don’t know what to say about that as I don’t want to spoil it for when you read this amazing story. Truly has a story that you need to hear, so go read this novel to hear it.

Truly Unfortunate ( Welcome to Knollville Book 1) by C. A. King. This was such a good book. Its not my normal genre but I really enjoyed it. Truly is a damaged young lady who can’t remember her past since the age of 9. Her childhood was very traumatizing and sad. Her mom didn’t love her and she never had a real father so she was pretty much on her own. As an adult life was just as hard, working 3 jobs to try to make rent and also paying for therapy. Jeff has always wanted to be a detective. He was saddened by a classmates death at the age of 9 so he vowed he would do what he could to help others. When Truly and Jeff’s worlds collide thru a series of unfortunate accidents the fact that they share a lot more in common will emerge. This is a super fast read and leaves you with great questions. Can’t wait to read more in this series.

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel 5 out of 5 stars Dangerous ground is Tina and Chase’s story written by Alice Rachel and I really enjoyed this story even if it was a little long. I simple love her work. We have read about Chase in a few other stories in this series and It was great to see him as a child and grow up to the man he is. She has this unique way of telling her story that has you stepping into her world and the characters are well developed. Chase Martinez has a lot to fear with the Sterilization Law threatening the entire lower class. Those around him are rising and rioting for their rights, but protecting his girlfriend is Chase’s only goal. But what can one man do against an entire government seeking to crush everyone he has ever cared about? Tina Davie is the daughter of a state officer that comes with many advantages for. But when she crosses the path of Chase Martinez, Tina realizes how unfair the world can be. And when Chase’s life is shattered beyond repair, Tina decides to take matters into her own hands. She will infiltrate the system and tear it apart if it’s the last thing she does. I highly recommend this story/series and you need to read them in-order to get the full effect of the series… I just simply love these characters and story line.. I give A Second Chance (Powder River Pack Book 1) by Brooke May, 4 stars.
Derek is a werewolf of the Powder River Pack. He met his mate at a young age and couldn’t imagine life without her. Until she was gone. He thought it best to let her do what she wants. But it has made him miserable. He will never be the same without her.
Annabelle has a wonderful career and she absolutely loves what she does. Plus it keeps her far away from her hometown. But it doesn’t fill the whole left in her heart. When circumstances arise, she has to go back to that very same town she grew up in. Maybe she can avoid Derek while she is there. Can she get that lucky?
This was a good paranormal romance. The story was interesting, and heart breaking at times. I really like how the author portrays the werewolves as something different than what we normally see. That made me happy to see her breaking the standard in the genre. I also liked the main characters, especially Annabelle. The only thing the got me was, this being the first book in a series, I felt a little bit thrown into it. I would have liked to have seen more about the pack itself so i understood it more. But overall, this was a great story about Derek and Annabelle and I highly recommend it.

The Killmores (Killmore #2) by Martha Sweeney 5 out of 5 stars The Killmores is book two in the Killmore series written by Martha Sweeney is a great book that finishes the story between Aiden and Laurie. The characters are well written I love their little quirkiness and banter. This is an action-packed, espionage romantic suspense thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and want more! Laurie is always looking over her shoulder on the run from her past. Though Aiden and she are together, Laurie can’t escape the demons who haunt her. To Laurie, she must keep running to keep the Devil’s beasts off her scent. Laurie’s Nightmares eventually become reality and she thrust face to face with the Devil. We have new players enter the game, people die, truths are revealed, and Laurie is forced to chose: to either fight or give up completely. Can Aiden save the woman he loves or will he be outwitted and left with his love dead in his arms? While Laurie is entrapped by the Devil, will she fight or give in?
