Isabella’s Painting: A Notorious Art Heist Mystery (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 1) by Ellen Butler ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

Isabella's Painting (Karina Cardinal Mystery #1)Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ellen Butler was a new author to me when I picked up Isabellas Painting. It was a late night impulse snag and I am so glad that I grabbed it! I am hooked! This was such a fun read. I got zero sleep but it was so worth it.

So there is a lot going on in this novel but I am going to try to just tease you a tad with some details… the good stuff you have to read for yourself. Trust me it will be so well worth your time. I have to say this is one of those books I will want to add to my re-read pile!

Karina Cardinal seemingly has it all and has it all together. She is a wonderful lawyer. She has the perfect relationship with a handsome man named Patrick. So perfect that things may just be ready to progress to bigger steps. Basically everything is going peachy king. Until…

Sore feet at the family Christmas party forces Karina to take a rest in a room with beautiful art, art that stands out. Art that she wasn’t supposed to see. This makes her start asking questions and things get really interesting to say the least. I loved this one and I am anxiously awaiting the next in the series!

Mouse Trapped (Satan’s Devils MC #9) by Manda Mellett ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

Mouse Trapped: Satan's Devils MC #9Mouse Trapped: Satan’s Devils MC #9 by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Manda Mellett is great at taking what you think will be your typical MC romance book and making it exceptional and throwing in twists that will make you think. Mouse Trapped definitely is no exception to the rule. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all about Mouse and Mariana. Our country is currently getting a front row seat to the mess that is our social class and ethnic divides and classifications. Our boarders are a mess and the world is becoming more and more difficult to live in if you are not the purest shade of white. I loved the underlying story that was portrayed here and found myself in tears more than once while reading this novel I can’t bear to let out any of the good details. For those you will have to go pick up a copy.

This is the ninth book in the Satan’s Devils MC series but can be read as a standalone. I have read a few of the other books in the series, but not all and it didn’t affect my ability to enjoy this one. I will eventually be reading them all though, because like I mentioned before, Manda Mellett hasn’t disappointed me yet. Thanks for another great novel. I can’t wait to see what will come next from Ms. Mellett!

The Killmores (Killmore #2) by Martha Sweeney – Review by Naomi McDonald

The Killmores (Killmore #2)The Killmores by Martha Sweeney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Killmores is the second book in the Killmore series. While you could probably get most of what is going on in this book without reading the first one, I’d suggest reading the previous book to get more of a connection to the characters and more extensive background on what lead up to the events in the second book. I read them back-to-back so it was more like one long novel rather than two separate books, and it worked out pretty well.

I like that the main female character remains strong, even though she does go through a period of devastation. Her responses to the events are intense and emotional, but she maintains her edge overall. The only thing I could have done without is the conspiracy theory conversation between Aiden and his friends/teammates. Other than that, it was a great continuation of the previous book. Even though it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, the ending does leave things open for the possibility of the series continuing.

This is the best yet in this series. In this book Dane and Shana finally get their wedding day or so Dane thought. When Shana’s past enemies come calling, will she take the fall for something she didn’t do? I enjoy these two characters, they have such chemistry and work so well together. They took me on a journey of twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat, I had to know if Shana would go to jail or not! I highly recommend reading to find out if they finally get their day!

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Karyn Taylor

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set)Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Eastern Shore Swingers boxed set contains the first 3 books in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. These 3 books are Fisher Of Men, The Catch and Siren Call. Due to the nature of the material of these books they are intended for a mature audience only. The sex scenes in these books are very explicit and many of them contain multiple partners. If that’s the kind of book that you usually enjoy then this box set is exactly what you are looking for.
These books are set around a swingers’ sex club in Ocean City, Maryland. A club where just about anything goes, and usually does!
Although there is a lot of explicit sex in these books, each book has much more to offer than just sex. In the first book Leah is conflicted as she has had a very religious upbringing and the idea of being a swinger goes against everything she believes in but she loves Cap and wants to be in his life. In the second book Paisley is a larger than life lady in more ways than one. I love how she embraces her curvy voluptuous body and isn’t scared to show exactly what she’s got. In the 3rd book Siren Call, Phoebe Alexander tackles the difficult issue of physical abuse.
These issues are dealt with brilliantly with the author, making these books a fantastic read. I would definitely recommend these books to anyone who loves a good sexy read.

Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler – Review by Kristan Anderson

Isabella's Painting (Karina Cardinal Mystery #1)Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler is book one in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series. The plot was very interesting. A mystery without murders is so different. Karina finds herself in quite the mess after discovering a rare and missing painting in the home of her boyfriends parents. Will she be able to return it to its rightful place? Or will she simply just put herself in more danger. The book was fast paced although I found myself skimming at times. There was a lot of mundane detail, I found. Though historical fiction is not what I’d normally pick up, it was a different type of story and refreshingly pleasant. The story was based on true life and I found myself wanting to know more about the story it was based on. As the first piece I’ve read by this author, I can say I would like to read more into Karinas story and the stories of the other characters.

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel – Review by Angela Shirley

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase's StoryDangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel, these stories of full imagination that you think when reading them that actually this could be reality someday.

Dangerous ground follows Tina and Chase’s story of the struggles they have in this world of segregation and rules. This is the kind of story has thought provoking parallels to the real world you live in and what would happen to society if just some of the rules applied, it would be horrendous but these characters live through these and seem to find happiness in the smallest places.

This series is well written and as the author said with in the blurb I would recommending reading these books in order, although the story its self can be read as a stand alone their are elements in each book which draws you deeper into this terrifying world and opens up each character to reveal more about themselves the more you read through series.

I really enjoy the writing and the depth of realism that these stories create, the true thought provoking topics have you questioning the reasons and laws that have been introduced. I recommend this series to anyone who love a well written story with a twist of the what ifs.

A Second Chance (Powder River Pack Book 1) by Brooke May – Review by Maura Harper

A Second Chance (The Powder River Pack #1)A Second Chance by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A SECOND CHANCE is a second chance romance (it says it in the title, so I’m not giving anything away). Soul mates reunite after being apart for 10 years. He is something from a horror movie (rather) than a romance one. She is a skilled photographer who hasn’t felt for another like she did for him all those years ago.

This is book 1 in a new series called “Powder River Pack”. There is a note from the author that this book was originally supposed to be the third in the series but she decided to switch things up. They statememt makes sense because there are characters who seemed as if we had met them before. As I was reading I thought this was actually a spin off from a different series I had not read.

The story has some dimension to it. Because Derek isn’t an alpha in the pack, it was cool to read about a less dominent male in a tribe.

I have put the series on my “watch list” and will keep an eye out for future books.

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set)Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set) by Phoebe Alexander is a collection of books that are amazing erotic romance stories about a swinger’s club in Ocean City Maryland. I love Phoebe’s writing and her wonderful characters that feel like part of the family that are a close and would do anything for each other. Phoebe draws you in with intrigue and mystery, seduction and love and erotica and the unknown. The books are a great read with some really hot sex scenes.

Fisher of Men – Cap is easy on the eye and when he spots the beautiful Leah he starts to think what if’s. However, will his lifestyle scare her off? Will she be open to what he wants to share? Will he be able to give up what he enjoys and keep her too? Will her upbringing cause trouble in paradise?

The Catch – Paisley Parker is happy in her own skin and wears it well but deep down there is more going on but will she be able to face the truth and move on? There are hot and steamy scenes that will curl your toes and romance and laughter. It was also nice to check in on old friends, Leah, Cap and Casey from the first book.

Siren Call – The mysterious Sirena has secrets and a past she would rather keep to herself but as we find out more about her we see a connection like no other between Sirena and Jessie.

I recommend this box set and any other works by Phoebe.

Beachcomber Gone by Stephanie Queen, is another great story in this series that I love. Her writing skills and the amazing wonderful characters, Dane and Shana, and the situations they find themselves in, make for some interesting adventures. Stephanie draws you in with intrigue and mystery, seduction and love, high running emotions and some badass PI skills. It’s taken a while for these two to fully commit to one another, especially with Dane’s closed off heart, but as you come to expect from these two, nothing ever goes as planned and there is always a mystery to solve. However, the odds just got a little tougher when dealing with high up Police officials and the whole country is looking for you.

Beachcomber Gone: Beachcomber Investigations Book 9
By: Stephanie Queen
5 out of 5 stars

The story Beachcomber Gone: Beachcomber Investigations Book 9 by Stephanie Queen is a romantic suspense book that I loved reading. I have loved this series ever since I read the first story. One of the reasons is the characters of Dane and Shana. These two found an attraction to each other from their first meeting and it has only grown ever since. When reading about them you know they are meant to be together. Life is never boring for them. This story has the couple traveling to Australia so that Dane can meet Shana’s family. Those plans are interrupted when Shana’s mother is used as bait and threats made. It soon becomes apparent that not all is as it seems, and someone is out to set Shana up. Will Dane and Shana find out who is responsible before Shana is arrested or hurt? Read this story to find out. This book has action and danger around every corner as this couple tries to unravel the mystery of who a traitor is. Plans and strategies are formed in which the safety of those involved can’t be guaranteed. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. It had me turning pages. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters, how they fit into the story and their interactions with Dane and Shana. This is a book and series that I would highly recommend reading.

Isabella’s Painting: A Notorious Art Heist Mystery by Ellen Butler is book one of the Karina Cardinal Mystery series. This book has it all; a little humor, a little romance, and some mystery. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I enjoyed it.

This book is based on a real life unsolved mystery. It prompted me to want to look more into it and I really enjoyed the authors take on the whole thing. Karina while quite self conscious is definitely resourceful and intelligent and her investigative skills get her in deep. Karina may not be fully prepared for the risks she’s taken but she can’t give up. The book was definitely suspenseful at times and I was at the edge of my seat.

The author did such a good job portraying this real life situation. I enjoyed the characters and the suspense and couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. I would be interested in reading the next book of this series.

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1) by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné – Review by Robin Rankin

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1)Climbing The Walls by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Climbing the Walls by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné is the first book Hart & Cole Series. This book had a lot happen in it, and the author did not skimp on any of the details. It was a lot longer than I would have expected it to be since the time period in the story itself covered such a short time.

Where do I start? Kris is an amazing father, his daughter and son are his life, especially his little girl and it is obvious from the very beginning. He’s also a great husband, not perfect but a lot of women would love to have a partner who did even a quarter of what he does, this woman included. All of this after having a less than stable household as a kid.

The description of Nicole in the synopsis was dead on. I did not want to like her at all. But as we got deeper into the story and learned about her and her life, things clicked for me and I actually could relate to some of the things.

There are two paths you can take as a parent, be like your parents or not like your parents, sometimes you pick the path subconsciously.

The kids are amazing, and I think I fell a little in love with both of them. But as the mom of two daughters I think Nikita grabbed just a bit more of my heart.

Amazing read, but not one you can bang out in a few hours.

Mouse Trapped: Satan’s Devils MC #9 by Manda Mellett – Review by Michelle Austin

Mouse Trapped: Satan's Devils MC #9Mouse Trapped: Satan’s Devils MC #9 by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mouse Trapped was a great 5 star read and book nine in the Satan’s Devils MC.
Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster, I was exhausted when I was done.

Mouse is a member of the MC who is mixed race, Native american/caucasian. He takes care of the computer needs for the club. He meets Mariana when he is out in the woods and hears her screaming. He saves her from a bear and takes her to safety. There is something about her that intrigues and calls to him.

Mariana came to the US when she was four, she has some pretty high walls up due to secrets she has. When she unexpectedly catches the attention of immigration things take a twist for her. Now she needs help, but who can she turn to? Would Mouse be willing to help her?

There is drama, suspense, action and so much more. All of the secondary characters were great. The chemistry between these two was off the charts, you could feel the heat coming off of the pages. Coming from growing up with handsome native americans, I pictured a few during my read, LOL. Manda Mellett does a great job of pulling you right in. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but I would suggest reading all of them. MC books are my favorite genre and Manda has quickly become one of my favorite authors to go to for a great read. 1-click and get started today.

Full of suspense, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. And it was hard to remember that Aless is only 20, so many situations she ends up in, and she handles like someone older.
I can’t say enough about this book, or series for that matter, but if I kept going id never stop and then id have written the book all over again!
This is a must read for sure.

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel – Review by Shannon Fowler

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase's StoryDangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In a world of uncertainty, we can be certain that Alice Rachel will bring us another story in her Under Ground series that makes us want to change our negative behavior and keep on being positive.

Chase and Tina live different lives, one is upper class while the other lower class. However, they are still people and they both care about others. This story takes us through their struggles and with Rachel’s writing style it feels like we are right there with them.

This story is a part of a series that must be read in order. I know this for a fact as I read some of this series out of order and had quite the headache, lol, trying to figure everything out. Reading in order makes so much more sense! I look forward to reading the next in this series.

I loved all 3 of the books in this set. I love this author…what she does is take subjects that may not be a chosen read for me and makes me choose them. She takes subjects that I don’t choose or completely understand and makes them seem just normal.

This series revolves around a Swingers club and a group of people I have fallen absolutely in love with.

In my opinion it says a lot about an author when she has a series out that deals with something I don’t understand or want to understand as far as the swinger lifestyle yet I find myself not being able to wait for each book in that series. I love the people in this series and their stories, but what I love the most is this author’s way of telling their stories.

I am a forever fan of this author and it really doesn’t matter what she writes, if her name is on it I read it. I don’t even care what the subject is it seems that even lifestyles I don’t understand keep me coming back for more.

I can’t recommend this series or this author enough. Read them in order because then I promise you will also fall in love with these people and have favorites as I do.

Loved it!!

Degrees of Power (Prestian Series, #4)Degrees of Power by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Degrees of Power is book 4 in The Prestian Series written by Via Mari. This is a great series and I would suggest starting at book 1: Degrees of Innocence. The one thing Chase craves above all else is for Katarina to trust him and allow him control in certain aspects. Trust that he can handle Alfreita and the threat he poses along with being honest and not withholding anything. Chase and Katarina have had more issues and struggles than your average couple but will they finally be able to just be a couple with no outside interruptions. This whole series is amazing, it crosses so many issues with trust, control, faith in your self and others and forgiveness. There’s also a nice mixture of drama in the story. Degrees of Power will keep you wanting more throughout the entire story.

I loved reading this heartwarming holiday story. This book gave me all the feels I want in a great story. Even though there is heartbreak there is also a abundance of love and support in this story. The author did an amazing job with the details in this story that I felt like I was there at Disney World with them experiencing the magic of the place and the season. This truly was an emotional wonderful story that will stay with me for a long time. I know that I will revisit this story multiple times because I enjoyed reading it that much!! I highly recommend this wonderful story. I cannot wait to read what comes next!
