LUKE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #4) by A. S. Roberts – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Luke (Default Distraction #4)Luke by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! Just wow. This book really took my soul and would not let go! Luke brought a lot to the table as a character, and he was someone that was so easily to fall in love with, and connect with as well. His background made the story, in more than one way, this book was different than most, in a very positive way!

Luke was a noble man I dare to say, he put his daughter above all else. He really was a good father in truth. If it was good for his daughter and her well being, then it certainly was good for him. Luke had gone through a lot, with the history of loss, that still impacts him to this day, and defiantly weighs on his daughter’s heart. Losing someone so dear to both of them. Luke has his heart torn up in past events and no way possible he is up for love or even trusting someone again. Throw in the marvelous Nikki who comes to be Luke’s nanny for his darling daughter. Nikki had a past of her own, a past of hurt and drama that still reflected upon her to this day What she did not expect, as well as Luke, is the connection these two souls feel, perhaps even to heal both their heart’s in ways they never thought possible…?

For me, I loved the emotional whirl wind this novel gave to me. Luke’s story was of love, passion, pain, and trying to heal. And putting his best foot forward, for his daughter was his world and he would make sure she got everything she deserved, and lived a good life. For me that was super admirable and wonderful to read, despite everything Luke had endured, his love for his daughter kept him going. I loved Nikki as well, who had sufferings in a different concept. What I enjoyed probably the most thought, was the times Luke and Nikki shared together with Brie, they bonded as souls, as well as a family and realized they had a good thing going for them all, but would they allow their hearts to be open to this idea?

Beautifully written and amazing read. Pulled at all my heart strings as I read it, when I finished it and the story of Luke was completed, I was left wanting more, as the characters were a impactful and delight to read about. I was content with the story’s end though, no doubt on that one! I just had such a good time reading this, it was a must read for sure. Highly recommend this book, and have your tissues near by!
