Notebook Mysteries ~ Unexpected Outcomes (Notebook Mysteries book #4)Notebook Mysteries ~ Unexpected Outcomes by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Set in the period of 1880’s Chicago, Emma and her beau Jeremy solve mysteries together. Let me tell you, this book starts off with a bang and never lets up! We find Emma and Jeremy are victims of a train wreck and soon find out why the train was sabotaged. As Emma gets help from a town close by, she can help the survivors of the train wreck and collect the money they were seeking. Upon returning home, Emma finds herself wrapped up in a new mystery she found in the newspaper and Jeremy is looking into child labor and sabotage of the glass factory that hires and abuses the children. We find out more about Jeremy’s mother and the relationship between their two fathers. Wow, it’s an explosive story for sure.
I appreciate this cute little book in the Notebook Mysteries Series. I just adore the relationship between Emma and Jeremy and find them to almost be the perfect couple supporting each other along the way. The characters are so well-written and easy to identify with. The story does not let up for a moment as we travel along with Emma to solves the mysteries and to keep her family intact. Such a great clean read and the best part of the story is that the main character is a very strong female knife wielding lead. Most enticing aspect was where Emma learned her knife skills from. A definite must read for a day at the beach or lounging around the pool. The words just flow off the page and images of bustles, horse drawn carriages, and Pinkerton agents just filled my head with delightful images. Mullins has done it again!
