Shadow and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns Book 2) by Kay L. Moody – Review by Beverly Finnie

Shadow and Crystal Thorns (Fae and Crystal Thorns, #2)Shadow and Crystal Thorns by Kay L. Moody
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shadow & Crystal Thorns picks up right where book 1 left off. I really like this series and can’t wait for book 3! The author has created a beautiful world. I’ve read other Fae books and I thoroughly enjoy the world of Faerie the author has created.
We find ourselves back into Chloe’s nightmare. Trying to save the human realm from sickness and now battling the human’s in Faerie where she lost her foot. Quintus doing everything in his power to help her succeed. What was realized in book 1 was to save the human realm, Faerie needs to be healed. Unfortunately they need to rebuild.
Chloe and Quintus seem to feel differently. with her sister being the High Queen of the different places in Faerie Chloe would never go against her word. It doesn’t help that Chloe freezes up in fear whenever she’s in a high anxiety situation. Because of that nobody trusts her ideas. Claiming she doesn’t really want to help.
How could she do anything on her own?
Is she able to keep her lack of foot hidden from her sister?
Mishti’s influence on Chloe could lead her in the right/wrong direction. Right because they could succeed in the task of healing the land and stopping the humans. Wrong because she would be defying her sister.
Can Mishti be trusted?
What about Quintus and Chloe?
I don’t know why Chloe is so against giving him a chance. I get it she’s mortal and won’t live forever but he doesn’t care. He’d rather be with her, the development between these two takes us in both directions.
So many questions and so many answers. I’m not sure how much I should disclose that won’t cause spoilers. This story/series is wonderful. If you like books about Fae and are just coming across this book, please read book 1 first. If you’ve read book 1 it’s now time to continue into book 2.
If you’re like me and didn’t like how book 1 ended the author redeemed it but picked up where book 1 left off. So worth it! Again I’ll reiterate I can’t wait till book 3!
