Underboss's Retaliation (Sicilian Gods Book 2)Underboss’s Retaliation by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Via’s writing fills the need in me to lose myself in fantastic dark and gritty stories with hot and sexy alpha men and Underboss’s Retaliation does just that. It is the second book in the fabulous Sicilian Gods series and what a tale she has woven for her readers.
I love deliciously dark Mafia Protector Romances and Via is just so good at writing them. This enemies to lovers is explosive in more ways than one. There is drama and angst, lies and passion, fear and secrets, pain and action. It is raw and brutal, savage and sinful, passionate and bloody.
One wrong move makes for a deadly outcome. In a world where loyalty is everything. A deadly game in an already deadly world. Ruthless criminals, dangerous and powerful men in the evil underground world where blood on your hands are a given. Where hot heads and passion rule.
Revenge may well be his ruin?
Oh how I love Via’s work. I can’t wait for more!

This is the second book in this series and I suggest reading the first one in this series first for a better experience and understanding of the characters. This story was full of action and romance and kept me turning pages so much so I couldn’t put it down. I have loved this author’s writing style from the first book I have read and this one is no different. Dominic and Emilia are enemies and what they want most is to protect their families. There is no denying the chemistry between these two. Will they find a way to get past the hurdles that stand between them? To find out the outcome for them and more, you must read this explosive story.

I am a sucker for a great romance novel and when it is about hockey that makes it even better!! The athletic nature and the romances make for a much better read. This book was phenomenal and left me almost at a loss for words. The chemistry between these characters was one that had me laughing and clinging to the phone needing to know what would happen next. The way the book was written had me loving every second of it. I was sad when I was finished with the book! I cannot wait until I get to read more of the books written by this author and continue reading these novels.

This was the second book in the series, and I could not put it down!! The chemistry between the two main characters was sizzling! Dominic and Emilia are both from different rival gangs, but they form a bond that is undeniable between them. The way the author wrote this book had me thinking I was involved in the action and not just reading it off of the page. I cannot wait to read more books from this series, and I cannot wait to read more from the author! My coworker has already bought this book because we read the same things and she was in awe of how great the sample was!

For those of you who don’t know, Via Mari is an amazing author and her books literally never disappoint. Underboss’s Retaliation is no exception. I loved the plot and the characters in this one. This is a great enemies to lovers story with a plot unlike no other. This one will take you on a wild ride as you read it. I found it so hard to put down. The banter between Dominick and Emelia was amazing and I definitely didn’t know what was going to happen between them as I read. I love the added dimension of them being from rival families. This book did not disappoint at all!

Taming Beckett
By: G.K. Brady

I am a sucker for a good romance. I am even more of a sucker for a bad boy romance. This is possibly one of the best bad boy romances I have ever read. And I completely recommend reading this one, because I could not put it down. I loved Paige “Andie” and her attitude, temperament and behavior. She is one of those girls everyone knows. The one who has tried her best to fight past the cards that life handed her and she did it on her own terms. However, I related to her character so much because she was married to an older man hoping that he would give her the stability she never had in childhood. Beckett, is the best type of bad boy – the kind who has a party boy image but really has one girl that he holds a flame for, and even he may not realize it. I love that they have a history from college and that neither really has changed one bit. I love that they changed and evolved but in the end really stayed true the essence of who they were when they met. I found myself rooting for them every step of the way. I also loved the plot point of Beckett and his hockey career. You could feel him fighting for redemption in every aspect of his career.

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first read from this author. If you like slow burn steamy romance with second chances and a “bad boy” then keep reading this review. We are met with our former NHL star Beckett Miller who is the middle of his career and life spiraling down due to his terrible life choices. Then our leading lady Paige.

Paige has kept up with Beckett’s debacle from afar because they seemed to have prior connection and was her what if.

When everything starts to hit the fan for the both of them, they seem to find each other again. Their chemistry seemed to never dwindle and this was steamy and slow burn. Just an overall good read.

I loved reading this dark mafia story. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous book as well to help your enhancement of this author and series. This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up and I never hesitate to pick her books up. This is a well written story where the author used details not only to bring life to the story but steamy romance as well. I found the characters to be relatable and I had no problem picturing myself in their world with them. They have great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them grow throughout the story. This is a fast paced story that I read in one sitting as it is that awesome. This is a must read and I highly recommend this book and this author,

Beckett’s latest scandal is a doozy…he has lost his money, his friends, his restaurant, and his career is on the line. Trying to figure out what to do next leads him to see his house. Through the process, he builds a friendship with his realtor. However, she is going through her own struggles. Will they be able to help each other heal and move forward?

Paige is a realtor with broken relationship with her cheating husband. After she is hired to sell Beckett’s house, their past comes to light and they begin to form a friendship of helping each other. Due to her husband, she has a hard time trusting the men in her life. But, when the time is right, can she take a chance on Beckett? Or is the notorious bad boy not the man for her?

I enjoyed this story because both Beckett and Paige had their own storylines that were interesting…and the way they came together was enjoyable to read. There is no cheating in this book…so don’t worry about that. I feel that each of the characters grew on their own while being able to be the help that the other needed. Overall, a good story!

Falling Home (Buckeye Falls Book 1) by Libby Kay – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Falling HomeFalling Home by Libby Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ginny is returning to her hometown to take care of her father as he recovers from surgery. What she is not there to do is to see her ex-husband and catch up with him (because there are still lingering feelings after all these years) or take part in any of the holiday activities that the town is known for. However, when she ends up planning the Jubilee, along with her ex, all those plans go out the window.

Max has missed Ginny since she left without looking back two years ago. He spends one night a week with her father as a way to still feel close to her. When he hears that she is coming back to take care of her father, his mind is all over the place. When they end up working the Jubilee with her, and all those feelings starting creeping back up, he knows he shouldn’t get too excited because she has plans to return to New York. Can he get the Christmas miracle he needs to convince her to take a chance on them again?

This is a story of how love is not always enough. There needs to be communication and a balance between work and home. These were together for over a decade…and it took one rough year to tear them apart. When they are given their second chance, will they take it? Or do they truly believe their time has passed? I enjoyed this story and the supporting characters (Ginny’s dad made me laugh!).

Underboss's Retaliation (Sicilian Gods Book 2)Underboss’s Retaliation by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Underboss’s Retaliation picks up where the last book left off. I guess you do t have to read book 1 before this one but it’s recommended by me so you gey the full story.
There are plenty of the same characters in this book as the previous book but this is more about Dominic. He is second in charge now and definitely plays the roll well. When he captures Emelia, he isn’t 100% sure what her fate will be but, quickly realizes, he wants to keep her as his own.
He even goes as far as to put a wig on her so no one knows who she really is when he moves her from place to place. Her family is the enemy. Emelia is not a delicate little flower. She can totally handle herself and proves to Dominic that she won’t make it easy for him or his family to use her as a pawn. When it is known that Alena is taken by The DeRosa’s that means war. Salvatore will do what he needs to do in order to get his little sister back unharmed.

Emelia finds out her entire life has been a lie. She had no idea what was going on, who was behind all the moves in the DeRosa clan but she’s about to find out and her world will be shattered. Will Dominic be able to
Pick up the pieces or will he be forbidden to go anywhere near the enemy?
This book was nothing short of amazing. I wanna be Emelia when I grow up haha! I love the Larussio’s but, Emelia made this book awesome!
Great characters, great story!
I don’t understand one thing. When Alena is taken, Sal makes it like she is highly trained and knows how to protect herself yet, she seems to be anything but that! Otherwise everything else in the book was pure gold! 5+ Stars

This is the second book for this amazing series and I think that if you haven’t read the first book you are absolutely crazy! As a part-time volcanologist, Royce spends most of his time managing all the adventure resorts he owns around the world. But even then, something seems to be missing. That was until he ran into Michelle Yates while in Iceland. Yes, they were acquaintances, but that was where things stopped, until now. Someone is trying to sabotage Royce’s resort business while Michelle’s life is seemingly in danger. This is the second book in the series and it didn’t disappoint. You will find yourself invested in the characters from the very beginning. If you didn’t read the first book in the series, I would recommend it but it isn’t necessary as you will pick up things along the way to fill in the blanks. I think that this series is amazing and is really well written. There is the danger that you would expect in any mafia story but the twists and turns that this books takes are things that even someone like me who reads everything mafia didn’t see coming. The passion that takes place between the characters will have you fanning yourself and blushing at the same time. This book has it all, mystery, conflict, romance, steam, danger, and an everlasting love. If you are a fan of mafia books or just a really good love story, I highly recommend this book. Enjoy reading this book as you wont able to put it down once you start and be prepared to feel all the emotions as the characters, that is how you know it is a good book.

What Actually Happened to Isaac MooreWhat Actually Happened to Isaac Moore by Samantha J. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve picked up by this author. I went in partially blind, only reading a little blurb about the story beforehand. It has been a very long time since I have found a story with the same kind of energy and magic as I found in books when I was a kid. I was hooked from the get-go. I love how real and relatable Isaac is. He literally falls into an epic tale of fantasy, but remains rooted in reality, all the while still learning from the experience and becoming fully immersed in the adventure. Even if this isn’t your typical cup of tea, I guarantee you will enjoy following Isaac on his magical journey! It took me back to my childhood as I hungrily flipped each page, wanting to consume more and more of the colorful world the author has created. It is well-written story and can stand on it’s own next to all the great adventures of my childhood reading.

Joker’s Fool (Satan’s Devils MC #8) Audiobook by Manda Mellett – Review by Cindy Mayberry

This is Joker and Lady’s story. Joker holds many secrets most of which could get him kicked out of the club. He has been on his own since he was 16. First joining the armed forces, then followed by the Satan’s Devils. His youth still haunts him and presents them in his nightmares/PTSD. His only family is the Satan’s Devils and if they find out his secret, that could mean being kicked out of the club. Can Lady help Joker to come to terms with his secrets? Will the Satan’s Devils really turn on him? This author has once again sucked me into her series. A place I love when reading/listening to her story. The story is fast paced and easy to follow. Be prepared to experience many emotions. The characters are just plain loveable. If you follow the series you will see just how close they really are. I recommend you read this series in the order it was written. I am sure you too will enjoy this series as I have. I am looking forward to see where this author goes from here.

First I’d like to say that I usually can’t get into historical books because of the old English, however, I really liked this book and there wasn’t a lot of verb-age that I didn’t understand. I really liked the storyline. If you are looking for a quick read this is not it. That being said I gave this book 4 stars because of the ending. I felt as though it could’ve used another chapter or 2 because I am left with questions that could have been answered rather easily and I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking it. I loved how the book switches perspective’s and the depth of each character. I will definitely be reading more historical romance novels from Wareeze.

Love Tools (Bluestone Series Book 1) by Isobel Reed – Review by Kerry Carr

Love Tools (Bluestone Series, #1)Love Tools by Isobel Reed
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this romance story. The author does an amazing job with the characters and I really enjoyed how at the start Lily and Jake seemed to hate each other but the teasing and barbs they threw at each other was all building up to an attraction that neither of them could deny.

Lily changed her whole life, leaving her family behind to take over a tool shop her father left her when he passed. She has nothing to lose, she hates her job and her dating life is non existent as she always attracts the wrong guys.
What she doesn’t expect is to meet a guy and not just any guy. Jake is a guy with so many red flags she should run in the opposite direction screaming.

Jake has never had a serious relationship. He’s known as a bit of a ladies man and he’s happy with that. Until he meets Lily. He’s never felt about a woman the way he does about Lily but how can he prove to her that he is the man for her and not the womaniser she thinks him to be.

This is a slow burn romance where the attraction is there but both Lily and Jake need to work through their past relationships and pains to be able to full let the other person in. Their connection is fun to read as they constantly push and pull each other.
