I liked the premise of the plot for this book; however, I think that it could have been done better. Overall it just felt a little too adolescent and childish to me. I thought Akinosho’s writing itself was spectacular and I quite like how she developed her characters but there was just something that I can’t quite put my finger on about the plot that didn’t vibe with me. I understand the theory of kismet and the concept of using it for the basis of your writing is fantastic, but there was just something about this book that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Wickstrom does it again…mixing science and life-lessons in such a way that kids will be able to learn about overcoming fear while learning about birds. I love how Wickstrom is able to integrate her love for nature and science and teaching kids lessons…it’s such an amazing concept and she does it so well. I also really love the illustrations. They are bright and eye-catching and well-done. Go ahead and pick this one up to add to your collection of Lois Wickstrom books.
Dual POV’s can easily make a book 5 stars for me, being able to see and witness from both perspectives…is phenomenal. Makes a book that much better in my opinion. Extremely quick read and I never wanted it to end. I wanted so much more but did throughly enjoy what I read. The mystery, the drama…has me on my toes and I can’t wait for more!

Grave Digger Academy 3 By: C.A. King Review by: Susan Ratchford 5 Stars
This amazing continuation hooked me from the first page and had me stuck until the last sentence! The Grave Digger Academy series is full of intriguing settings, wonderful dialogue, and characters with quirks you would never expect! It is truly fun to read and is packed with both intensity and lightheartedness! I absolutely love Makayla and all of her helpers! I really liked the ones included for this book, especially Apotropia! It also always makes me smile with Thomas and his squirrels! This third installment had a wonderfully paced story that didn’t feel rushed even though the book was short. It also contains a wonderful air of mystery that grips you throughout. This book could definitely be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend starting with the first book to take in everything about this fantastical world that C.A. King created!

We’ve all experienced loss of some kind, have past traumas that we have or haven’t dealt with, and deserve to find our happiness in life after experiencing all that. The emotion in this novel is so overwhelmingly strong, it was like I was feeling everything these characters felt, Annie was so relatable and I loved that.

Where he would do anything to save his daughter even if it means he loses himself along the way. This adventure tale is full of action, threatening war, epic battles, danger, life and death decisions. Only a miracle can save them all. This book, y’all!! It was such a quick, fast paced read full of romance. I was in love with the characters through every second, and how Roman made it his mission to empower Olivia. The relationship between all of the main characters, sans the ex husband, was hilarious and fantastic. Highly recommend this hockey season!

This packed a few punches, some of them very unexpected!! The journey of Adam and Hope is one filled with twists, turns, love, loss, hope, and forever. Some parts I could see coming, others hit out of left field. I enjoyed this read and felt a part of this story, as another neighbor next door.
This story isn’t for everyone. There is loss and it’s pretty traumatic. Please use discernment when picking this book up to read if you’re going through a hard time. It is worth the read when you’re ready though!
This was my first read by this author but I love her writing style and I’ll be looking for more of her work!

Ghost Takes a Vacation is such a cute and fun book! It’s actually the 2nd book in a series and I didn’t realize that when I got it. But, it reads as a stand alone and gives enough backstory without bogging things down. I really loved the characters and the second hand embarassment from Genie getting caught conversing with a ghost in public was definitely real! A Very unique book, great world building and some intense moments. The characters were relatable and lovable, and I am now going to read the 1st one since I missed it! Absolutely recommend.

The Christmas Escape by Belinda Williams felt like the book version of a Hallmark movie and was a quick read. Lizzie is a 32-year-old failure according the pressures of her family. To prove it she’s lost her job and her housing all within a week. Lizzie is dreading Christmas with the family so when her friend finds herself with a unusable ticket to Australia – Lizzy takes it as a sign. She quickly meets Jaz and sparks fly. The rest is a sweet, slow-burn holiday romance you’re sure to enjoy.

The Christmas Escape was such a cute romance book. While it is a Christmas book, it takes place mostly in Australia so it is summer, and doesn’t have the traditional Hallmark channel feel to it. Lizzie is laid off and conveniently takes her friends ticket to Australia for a vacation before jumping into a job search. A misdirected football on the beach may be fate, when it brings Jaz into her life. As much as she tries to fight it, some connections are too strong to resist. This book has a happily ever after, but also ended in a way that could lead to a sequel. And I am hoping it does…

This is our first Porter and Midge book. I really like the idea of the series, being inspired by the authors dogs and teaching kids dog safety. A lot of dog breeds were represented, and the illustrations were wonderful. We learned some new things and reinforced other lessons. Paws for Safety had a lot of good conversation starters for me and my 7 year old. We liked that the book was rhyming, but some felt a bit forced. I think his favorite was the picture of the dog poop, because, boys…. I like that it addressed a lot of common topics, and explained why children should approach with care, ask for permission, etc. I look forward to checking out the others in the series.

Lottery of Secrets by Nadija Mujagic is a book that will leave you wanting and needing to know what happens next. I was hooked on the story line right away but the twists this book took is what made me wanting to read more and more. This fast-paced thriller/suspense shows that what should be the happiest time of Lynn Millers life, is really a nightmare that she cannot wake up from. Nadija really wrote this book well with attention to detail and keeping me wanting to read more and more. I do wish that the ending was different with a little more answered questions but I am excited to read part two of this book. I highly recommend this book!!

When the head Doctor of Obstetrics dies very publicly at his daughter’s wedding all eyes look at the caterers. Will, Maeve’s husband, just so happens to be the owner of the catering service. Now it’s up to Maeve to help solve the murder so her husband doesn’t lose everything he’s ever worked for. This book was interesting for me as someone with limited midwifery knowledge. The story kept my interest and there’s some great twists. Grab some tea and cozy in for a ride.

The Men of Eden Cove Manor is a short MM supernatural story. A manor that’s surrounded by rumors of what truly goes on there. The author brings you to this town that has a haunted manor overlooking it. People tell stories, they are scared, but how many have actually been there. Lucifer wants to meet one of the Men of the Manor. So in spite of his friends warnings of not going, he heads out for the night. To the biggest party of the year, thrown by non-other but those very mysterious men themselves. However instead of ending up at the party, he ends up roaming around the manor instead. Will he get caught? Mordecai and his housemates have been alerted of an intruder on their property. Which causes them to leave their task at hand early. Upon arrival the man is still in their home, so they decide to have a little fun with him. Will they traumatize him, like previous rumors? Mordecai and his friends are different and they are on the quest to find someone to make them complete. Will Lucifer fit that bill? This short story has a lot going on. However despite all that the author makes sure there are no loose ends. Leaving the reader with no unanswered questions. The story was good, but definitely different. If you like supernatural elements as well as MM romances check it out. You get a taste of both that will be intriguing enough to enjoy.

What a cute story! It’s very enjoyable and made me laugh a time or two. I have to say that as an older woman I appreciated all the humor and comments on menopausal ailments. The characters are fun! They really have a great build of different personalities in here. Very enchanting! Not only the two main but a lot of the secondary just cracked me up.
Overall this one moves along at a good pace. Easy and quick read! I look forward to the next in the series.

Once again, I find myself flying through another Hidden Valley Elite installment… this time while literally flying. I really enjoyed learning more about Shane’s back story in this one, as he’s always just been on the outskirts previously. My ONLY complaint is that I wish we didn’t end on a cliffhanger. Each installment in this series ends on a cliffhanger and could easily have each duet be one book. But I will wait as patiently as I can for the next one.

In Plain Sight by Valarie Davisson is the 8th book in the Logan McKenna series. Just like the previous books…it is extremely entertaining! Logan thought that life was going great…she was finally getting her life together. Logan married her boyfriend Ben, she has been volunteering at a local raptor enclosure and is becoming friends with the main vet. But unfortunately Logan just can’t seem to stay away from drama! Logan jumps in to figure out what has happened to the vet and this drags her into the midst of this mystery all while the killer desperately tries to erase any clues that might tie the murder to them and it has to be before they get caught. Logan and her friends find themselves in grave danger! I enjoyed that I didn’t immediately solve the mystery and couldn’t figure out the suspect and I felt like I was alongside Logan trying to figure everything out! This book gave me clue vibes…and I was all for it! You definitely need to pick up the other books to get to love all of the Logan McKenna series!

Almost and Forever is a story about love, loss and hope. I felt absolutely every kind of emotion as I read this story. I had the giddy, “this is the cutest ever” feelings, the chills and the tears. The first couple chapters had me completely invested, needing to read on, looking forward to bedtime to get a couple more chapters in! The characters in this book are the type that you want all the best in the world for, the type so well written you feel like you know them personally. If you want a story that will evoke raw emotion and leave you thinking about it long after it’s finished, Almost and Forever is definitely worth a try!

The Men of Eden Cove Manor: M/M Paranormal Halloween Romance
Not sure if it was the cover or the synopsis that convinced me to step out of my comfort zone but I did and I’m so glad. I have had the pleasure of reading at least one of Ms. Valkyrie’s previous books so I knew almost what to expect. I got that and more while reading this quick but fascinating and unique (at least to me) story.
Lucifer finds a way to get himself in trouble when he should have been enjoying the Halloween party thrown by the group of mysterious men who live in the Manor.
Mordechai came across as the unofficial leader of the guys living in the Manor. He definitely has a take charge personally which I think helped with Lucifer.
I would love to see more of the Men of the Manor because I liked them so much but would also be satisfied if this is our only encounter.

The Man in Black by L.R. Liverpool. I really enjoyed this Western Novel. It is a bit long so be prepared for that but the story is very good. Its the story of Fenimore who is leaving the life he’s always known behind to go and be an outlaw. He thinks its going to be like the books but what he finds is not that. He ends up joining the Red Evans Gang and becomes Simon Shaw. As members of the gang begin getting murdered he’s not to sure he made the right decision and debates going back home. He also discovers while he’s on the trail with the gang that he has feelings for one of his fellow members leaving him confused and frustrated. This book is very emotional and will rip your heart out in spots. Trying to find out who is trying to kill all the gang members and dealing with Simon’s feelings it gets to you in spots. This is a very good Western Romance with murder and mystery along with romance.

Grave Digger Academy 3 is the continuation of Makayla’s story as she returns to school for her third year. After the drama of the previous year, she is expecting to be overwhelmed with new students however the reality is very different with some familiar faces not returning. Makayla has also got to face the new rules imposed on her that don’t allow her helpers to aid in her quest for answers. I think this is a really fun series, I just wish the books were longer! Looking forward to reading book 4 to see what happens next.
