Flash Point (Nite Fire, #1)Flash Point by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a sucker for a good fantasy novel, and this first installment of the Nite Fire series definitely shows promise and establishes a great foundation of the heroine and her journey for all of the books that follow this one. I adored the idea of a shapeshifting assassin from another world, and I loved the fact that she has a soft spot for humans. Her life is never boring, by default, but that leaves her kept constantly on her toes. To see what I mean, crack the book open and experience the adventure for yourself! Also, be prepared to need to order the next installment immediately upon completion.

Regan Keller fell in love with a wealthy and powerful man once, her boss. Zachary Benson is the head of a successful empire and used to getting what he wants in the boardroom and outside of it, and what he wants is Regan Keller. When Regan’s past threatens to destroy the architectural firm Zach has invested his entire career in, he has to make an executive decision whether to choose his business or fight for the woman he loves. The writing flows very well and the story line is great. This story kept me reading until the end.

Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes Book Two) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Amanda Gonzalez

New to the supernatural world, Sophie is struggling to uncover the secrets of her late grandmother’s witchy abilities. Unfortunately for her, she was also bitten by a werewolf and is running out of time until the next full moon. At the same time, the werewolf who bit her, Trace, has been tasked with finding the source of a curse placed on his pack – never mind the attraction he feels towards his main suspect: Sophie. Though the story was short, I loved every second of this hilarious, yet steamy, paranormal romantic comedy. I can’t wait to see what’s in store in this world of the New Orleans Nocturnes Series!

But during tutorials with her gorgeous seminar lecturer, Diego Valentine, Cassie’s feelings go past platonic student-teacher relations. Can Cassie and Diego act on their feelings, or must they keep their forbidden love a secret? This novel is written really well and packs a small punch in the short space it’s given. This is written from Cassie’s perspective.

Secure Her (Chase Security #4)Secure Her by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Secure Her by R.L. Dunn is the fourth book in the Chase Security Series. This can be read as a standalone story but has recurring characters from other books in the series. This book is focused on Zach and Saoirse. The two end up making a dynamic pair but are faced with all sorts of danger before getting there. When the two are involved in figuring out a human trafficking ring a lot of dangerous situations occur. Will Zach be able to get Saoirse through to the other side of this situation safely?
I have enjoyed this series but this book really has a lot of twists to it which added to the thrill of Zach and Saoirse meeting and having to work together. I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author in the future.

Chris “Hacker” Montgomery devotes his life to his computer and his teammates. Marie Costa is part of the mafia family in Montreal. This is the second book in the Mercenaries series. It is romantic suspense. It’s full of action, suspense and strong characters. You are pulled right into the story and the author really just doesn’t let go. It is a well written book and really is a great addition to the series. You can read it as a standalone but I do think it’s better to read the first book before hand.

The wreckage of a World War II plane is found in the mountains of Appalachia. It mysteriously crashed in 1943 on its way to a naval base.

Hooks Little Mermaid: Captain Hook crosses paths with an enchanting mermaid, as he seeks revenge against Peter Pan by Suzanna Lynn is the first book in the Untold Stories series. This is a unique retelling of a well known story and the author has done a good job of taking the story and creating something new. The author manages to create a vivid picture of everything going on so it really felt like you were there. It would have been nice to see a little more of the dark Captain Hook that you are use to but it was good to see him in a whole new perspective. This was a front start to a new series and I am looking forward to reading the next.

Granted: Curse of the Emerald Jinn by Rachel Huffmire is a brilliant YA book that is full of twists and turns the whole way through. I thought this book was an exciting read and I was drawn into it instantly. Part of the reason for this I think is because this is the first time I have read a book of this genre told from a male POV. This was a refreshing change and really made it feel like an overall better story.
I really found the characters engaging and so easy to connect with. The journey was not only exciting to read about but easy to imagine. This was a great book and one that I throughly enjoyed.

Guardians of the Garden (Guardians of the Garden, #1)Guardians of the Garden by Theresa Pocock
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was very engrossed in this book. Pocock’s fantasy world is immersive, and the cast of characters are excellent. The two main protagonists are both on the cusp of adulthood, beginning to understand what their life has in store for them. Both Seth and Miriam are on a quest for truth and loyalty. The philosophies and limitations of their childhood are being tested, and both question their parent’s wisdom. As the realities of both worlds are at the brink of potential ruin, they are pitted against not just their families, but each other. The excitement increased the more I turned the pages, and I read this one through quickly and eagerly. Any fans of Fantasy or YA will be enthralled. If this is not your normal genre, I would encourage you to give it a go. You won’t be sorry.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read the rest of the series! This was an enchanting spin on the origin story of Captain Hook. Add Red Riding Hood and the Little Mermaid and you have an adventure full of surprises. Hook was not always the despicable pirate he has been made out to be. Setting out to destroy Peter Pan, Hook becomes entangled in a plot to overthrow Atlantis when he saves a mermaid princess.

This book was a very quick read, meaning I couldn’t put it down! I cannot wait to get the second book in The Untold Stories series. This is definitely a series I want to share with my granddaughter.

Auctioned is the third book in the Billionaire Bodyguards series. It can be read as a standalone.
Great read with some action, suspense, danger, and, of course, romance. Even though this book has the requisite steamy bits, I liked the story line more. It’s a fast-paced tale so it’s easy to get sucked in and read it all in one sitting.
Some readers may find the subject matter sensitive in nature.

Perfect book for a light afternoon read. I love reading taboo tropes and this book was no exception. It wasn’t as dark and sexually explicit as I’m used to read it leaned more towards a NA. That being said I was pleasantly surprised by the characters and the way the Author describes the surroundings and “feel” of some of the scenes.

Shape, shifting dragons, linked worlds and an imminent apocalyptic virus form the basis of this epic tale. This is the fourth in the saga although its easy to follow if you have not read the others. Dahlila, the protagonist, is easy likable with her spunky, brave, determined attitude. She cares about others and has a strong sense of right and wrong despite being brought up being taught the opposite and this really comes across with the author’s writing. I really enjoyed the character development playing out across the novel. The scene setting is brilliant I could really imagine myself in the Nite Fire universe. This novel is a lovely mix of beautifully written mythology and gripping undercover terrorism detection. Although that sounds as if the two wouldn’t work well, MacDonald makes it work. The mythology told within this story is simply stunning and really interesting to read about. I really liked how MacDonald mirrored the mythology with the main characters narrative, this made me question what was in store for our main character throughout the book. I think the characters were very well developed and MacDonald has a way of making, even the bad guys relatable, which I really enjoyed.

When they all have refreshments, Annie’s dad gives her a copy of the letter that her mum received and is dumbfounded and extremely curious at the same time as she doesn’t know a lot about her mum’s side of the family and to now find out that she was an instrumental and important part of World War II it is a lot to take in.

When Carol turns up the next day with the things that she has found in the attic, it is the start of a mystery which they all want to solve and so they start with reading some love letters between Charlotte and her fiance, but as they are studying them, they begin to see that there are little strings of numbers and borders which aren’t normally on the stationary used in the armed forces at the time. They decide to bring Annie’s boyfriend Ty in on the action as he is good with codes and when they do manage to crack it, a whole new piece of the puzzle is revealed and how it connects to the note found in the plane, but it also asks a whole new set of questions as well. As they continue to decode the letters and read through them, they realise that they need more information, so they go back to the attic to look for more clues and when they do, the ghost returns and slams some more doors, this again leads to more important clues to the mystery.

As they find the need to travel more, Ty takes to the air as a newly qualified pilot to take them between their homes, as he is going through the checklists, Annie feels a connection to the plane, as if she has been in one before, despite it being her first time and when they talk to the people on the airfield about what they are finding out, everyone wants to be kept updated on their findings.
