Captain James Hook wasn’t always a pirate and he didn’t always have a hook, he started off as a humble fisherman, but when it didn’t bring in any wealth, he decided to rename his ship the Jolly Roger and hoist the black and white flag of a pirate, but he was an honest pirate at least and did give back to the poor on occasion, however, that all changed when he went on a quest to kill Peter Pan to avenge the death of a loved one.
This journey was not as easy as he first thought, but he had made a start by knowing he had to go to Neverland to find him, so he pulled into one of his well frequented ports and went to visit an old friend to get some information on how to trap a fairy and once he had acquired that fairy called Tinkerbell and hashes out a deal, he stopped in an another port of call for supplies. While acquiring the means to cross the seas to Neverland, the Captain befriends a young woman named Red by the locals when he comes to her aid in a marketplace, in return he receives some valuable gifts and information, as well as a new acquaintance, or maybe even a friend.
As he nears Neverland and his nemesis, Captain Hook comes across a deadly sea creature and hopes his acquisitions will allow him to sail swiftly from it’s clutches and when he arrives, he sees Peter Pan and puts his plan into action, however, he is foiled by the wily fairy and doesn’t attain his goal. This is another gripping and engaging historical fiction novel by N.L. Holmes in her ‘Empire at Twilight’ series. This is obviously a well researched novel and it is wonderfully written in a way which brings the time period and setting alive for the reader. I found the historical notes at the beginning of the book fascinating and the map, cast of characters and the glossary and terms of Gods were very helpful and I did refer back to them whilst reading. Set during the twilight years of the Hittite Empire and Tudhaliya IV is on the throne but he is the younger son of a usurper. However Tudhaliya wants to rule by the traditional values of justice and clemency, against the advice of his overly ambitious mother and older brothers who are not entirely loyal. His ideals are tested when his cousin and friend Kurunta makes his own claim on the throne and Tudhaliya must deal with this threat without looking weak. Overall his goal is to be able to leave his own son an empire free of civil war but at what personal cost to himself. The storyline is fast paced and the plot twists kept me hooked from beginning to the end. The characters are well defined and the descriptive narrative gave me a clear image of them, making me feel immersed in their story. This was an entertaining and enjoyable read which had me captivated from page one. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone story, however, I have read and enjoyed the previous novels and would recommend both this book and the series.

Loyalty & Lies (Spicetopia Book 6) by Phoebe Alexander was a great addition to this series. This is a really good series and I really love reading about spicetopia. In book 6 we learn about Calvin and Paisley. I really liked Paisley I thought she was spunky and fun and enjoyed reading about her. I must admit I liked having a little mystery involved it kept me wanting more. I hope I can read more about Calvin and Paisley I would like to see where they go in life. They went through so much in spicetopia and survived it together. Thank you Phoebe Alexander for another amazing read and I look forward to reading more of your books.
This is the 3rd book in the Deadly Isles Ops series. This is a Romantic Suspense novel and is 192 pages. This story follows Malina and Tyler, both in the Navy SEALS. He happens to be her high school crush, but he is not the type to settle down. They do end up sharing one incredible night in Vegas. But when she gets home, she is accused of treason and goes on the run. Tyler is the only one that can help and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe and clear her name. Omg this was such a fun and magical read! I have read Rachel Huffmire before and fallen in love with her mind and how she takes the fairy tales we grew up with and turns them into these worlds I love and never want to leave. I have gotten my daughter a bit hooked on her as well and I am so excited to tell her there is a new one from her with a completely new twist we don’t get enough of, jinn, or genies! Don’t instantly think of Aladdin either, this is a magic that is woven and deep with nods to the Arabic folklore that never gets fully explored. I was so in love with how magical this read felt and how it took me to a world I didn’t want to come out of at the end. I sure hope that we get more in the future among the same Arabic folklore from Huffmire again.

Lara is independent lady. Ulysses Is a bit of a creepy at first I am not kean on his character. I enjoyed this romance book. It is well written and engaging it relates well to real life. Willow is a fesit one and very high strung. Really well written and a good read.

Such a good read! Marlowe and Heath’s story is a sweet and gentle love story. They take the time to get to really know each other. Marlowe’s best friend, Iris, and her sister, Lucy, keep her on her toes and help her through her doubts. In the end everything goes as it should.

Secure Her by R.L Dunn is the 4th book in the Chase Security series and this one is not for the feint hearted as it touches some triggering topics. The story revolves around Zach and Saoirse who are investigating the disappearance and brutal deaths of hundreds of young women, when evidence starts to show that it may be linked to the BDSM, Zach and Saoirse go undercover into the lifestyle. This book invoked so many emotions and I don’t think I have had such a strong hatred for a bad guy in a long time, The character of The Master was just evil and I found myself rooting for the main characters throughout. There are some scenes that made me want to cry, scream and shout but that is testament to how well written this book is, this was the best one in the series so far.

I will be honest I was hesitant at first with this novella from Diana Vale. It clearly states it is a Student-Teacher romance so I actually thought about it before starting. However, this book was one I decided to give a chance because new authors and supporting black authors during black history month was important to me and I hate to judge a book simply by its cover/title. I am glad I did. It is a short read with a lot to unpack and you feel as if you get an entire full length novel with it. Yes it is steamy, forbidden, and sometimes as a parent it is difficult to read, but honestly if you look at it from the point of a forbidden love story about anyone can relate. We all someday when we fall in love, if we weren’t taught as children, that you cannot help who you fall in love with. Love is love, and oftentimes, even in my own life, others don’t understand the way you make your choices or who you want to be with and why. That’s not for them to judge. I think this book does a good job of keeping it a forbidden tale and is well worth a read for a nightcap.

I was absolutely enthralled by this. I was a little worried as Peter Pan is one of my favourite stories from my childhood – the whole no-growing-up thing is something that I still live by – but this was just fantastic and there was honestly no way that I wasn’t falling in love with it. Lynn takes Hook from being an out and out villain to a sympathetic character, who despite years of being programmed to hate the pirate, found myself rooting for him. I loved the way that Lynn took elements that everyone knows and loves from the classic tale and puts her own spin on it that makes something more magical than the original. I know, I can’t believe it myself and honestly, I feel like it’s sacrilege to even say it, but I don’t think I can go back to the original Peter Pan now without being forever changed by this book. This is a fun read, that also has a depth to it that was wonderful to explore, anyone looking for a new and refreshing take on a beloved tale, this is perfect. I adored every second of it and cannot wait to read the next tale.

Ugh I want more of this book. The only complaint I could have about it was that it ended! I absolutely adored this read and was consumed by it. In the hospital while hooked up to machines I definitely told my nurses to leave me be please when I got to the end so I could just finish this fantastic read in peace lol. It was such a well written love story I felt as if I had been there watching it all unfold, as if these characters were real and tangible to me. I know authors give us these characters that are real to them and strive to make them just as real, and right here Loriana Cappello did it, and did it flawlessly. To top things off this was my very first time ever reading Loriana Cappello, but it will not be my last. In Strings Attached she gives us the story of Ash and Calla as they traverse their way through a summer fling that becomes so much more. I cannot wait for and hope to get more Braebeach Rock Romances from her soon!

Seth Johnson is a boy who has just been ripped away from everything he knows to travel with his family to the USA so that his sister can receive treatment for her cancer, but when they stop at a diner in the middle of nowhere, he meets someone who says they are a relative, when he has been told that they were all dead and gone and this meeting is about to change his life. Miriam Miller is a girl with violet eyes who is shunned by all of those around her for it, they see her as a freak despite that she is a Guardian, just like they are, but all she wants to do is to go on a sabbatical and explore the world outside of Edenia, however, her family have other ideas and just want to use her ability to keep the village safe and so she can’t leave even if she wanted to and when a new family come into the village, everything is about to change.
When the new family arrive and Miriam observes them through her front window with her family, her first instincts are unease and she has no idea why, however, it could have something to do with the warring reactions of her family members, especially when she realises that one of the newbies has left Edenia before and that it must have been a strong summoning to bring them back. As Seth and his family enter Edenia, he realises that this is where his father grew up, where he was born, but it is so strange to his eyes, there is no technology other than basic appliances and as they go to a meeting with the head of the village, he realises that it will probably be the most boring place, although there is mention of a mysterious garden, but he knows he must learn about it so that he can save his sister and he will do anything to help her. The residents and the new people are all introduced to each other and they all seem as strange as each other, with some being stranger than others but Seth and Miriam feel out of place and awkward, unlike everyone else, Miriam because she is worried about them finding out about their Natures before it is time and Seth because he is worried about his parents intentions for going there, this is compounded as the Johnsons have a family meeting where his parents ask the three kids to try and fit in, seem like they want to become one of them and to just give it a week and then make up their minds, the kids are not happy about this, but agree to go along with it to keep the peace.
As the Johnsons settle in, Seth opens up to his sisters about what he has to do and they agree to try and help him, meanwhile Miriam is trying to come to terms with her Nature and keeping the discoveries she is making about it to herself, but she is also starting to get closer to Seth and feels drawn to him and as time goes on, Seth begins to realise that he is drawn to Miriam as well, however, with all the secrets surrounding them, will they be able to become as close as they want to be, or will their secrets be their undoing? This is a fantasy with hidden depths which will keep you wanting more and needing to know whether they will succeed with their goals in the end.

Okay this book… please give it a chance and read it before totally reading the reviews. I was a tad heartbroken when I came to review and saw all the hate for this novel because it contains cheating. Ladies it happens. I for one appreciated the raw and real truth that this book gave readers. Sadly I know several friends, and even myself, who have faced situations like these and the option to give a second chance. Maybe I am a hopeless romantic and believe that people can change in ten years, or that love ultimately will and does prevail. This is extremely prevalent in this novel but it is real. So yes this carries the story of a cheater getting a second chance because the woman chooses to do so. It tore me up in a lot of ways as I read it and felt myself relating in some ways. It kept me hanging on and engaged so much I read this is just an evening and it has sat with me ever since. I would give it a go and make sure you have tissues ready and a comfort item.

Being the fourth book in The Chase Security Series from RL Dunn I personally recommend that you start at the beginning with book one before jumping into Secure Her. These books do only get better with each one so you can’t lose either way. I have really enjoyed reading this series and this one was no different. I will say it has some triggering moments in it that I felt the author handled very well with grace and kept it realistic as well. We get Zak’s, the head of the Domestic Law Unit with Chase Security, story in this novel. I really enjoyed his female interest and client, Saoirse and really felt for her so much. This book is fast paced and will keep you reading to find out how it all comes together well into the night. I cannot wait to see who we meet and follow in the next!

Krysten Lindsay Hager is a new author to me and this book could not have been a better way to be introduced to her writing. I love firstmost how this book draws you in as even an older adult and makes you long for the younger years, as much as it can entertain the young coming of age teens. I was pleasantly surprised with how much this book made me feel nostalgic and miss those days when my only thoughts and concerns were school and boys. In Can Dreams Come True we follow Cecily as she struggles to follow and understand her heart and what it truly wants when all her other dreams are coming true. I love how you could feel and relate to her on such a personal level and she found her way and I was pleased with how the ending came together in a non cheesy way. I will definitely be back for more in book two to see what will come next.

I have been anxious to see how this exciting series would come to an end. The World Beyond the Walls is the third in the Natural Forces books from Jean Gill and the final. I would personally recommend that you read these in order because things really do come to a conclusion and have answers to things brought up in previous books. It is an epic, truly, adventurous read so it is worth the investment in time. I could not put this one down so it was done in just a short few hours for me because. I must say this book gave me the best escape beyond the walls of my hospital room when I needed it so much so I was so grateful. The world building has you feeling as if you could be right there sensing the adventure and elements with the characters. I cannot say enough good about this one and the whole series, and to top it off it is one I know my thirteen year old could enjoy and read just as much I am sure. I can’t wait to see what we get next from Jean Gill!

Oh I could not wait to get my hands on this book! It is the second of The Mercenaries series and the first really drew me into the hot romance and suspense that it gave and left me wanting more. This one does quite the same, keeping you on the edge of your seat as you wait and see what could come next. It completely draws you into the drama and suspense and leaves you fanning yourself with the underlying romance aspects. I was completely engrossed and read it in one evening. Hacker is a complex character and we see that as he tries to help the woman he is in love with. As for details you won’t find them here, not any more than what the blurb provides because that would spoil the thrill of this read in my opinion. Trust me you won’t be disappointed if you one-clicked, and will want the first book if you haven’t read that one either. I can’t wait to see what will come next!
Loyalty and Lies by Phoebe Alexander is book six of the Spicetopia series. This book can be read as a standalone similar to the other books I. The series but you should definitely just read the whole series.
Calvin and Paisley are celebrating their anniversary and figured they may as well go big before their new arrival. They decide that a getaway to an adult theme park is exactly what is needed. They had no idea what they were going to get into. Will this trip be everything they wanted or will it tear them apart?
This book has a little of everything and I couldn’t put it down. Perfect addition to the series!

City of Whispers: Imperial Assassin Book 1 is the first book in this series by Katt Powers.
I was drawn in by the book description, and being classed as a fantasy/adventure book meant I didn’t really know what to expect. This genre is new to me and I was looking forward to getting stuck into something different. The story is fast-paced from the start and keeps up the same fast pace throughout. The characters are much more relatable than I had expected and I was soon caught up in this wonderfully different story. I kept picking it up as I needed to know what happened next. The writing is full of passion, magic, and mystery and keeps you wanting more.
I would definitely recommend giving this a read, especially if you are looking for something a little bit different

She’s gone and done it again!! Honestly, Amy McKinley’s writing will never get boring to me. I have read all the books in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series and I could not wait to read this one as well.
I love the way McKinley links all the characters in this series and references to characters from the other books within each one. Reading Twisted Secrets and Bound by Secrets and seeing his brothers lives work out and the happiness they had, I was dying to know what Tyler’s story was and who he would end up with and I was in no way disappointed.
This story was – once again – jam packed with everything you could possibly want in a book. It was, action packed, steamy, cute, scary. Every emotion you could think of and McKinley makes you feel it. I found this story particularly gripping due to Malina’s circumstances and the last few chapters of action. There weren’t quite as many shocking twists in this story as the others in the series, but I didn’t mind that at all because the writing and the character development was enough to captivate me throughout. I really couldn’t put this book down and I will definitely be re-reading this entire series at some point.
I hope there will be another book in this series where we can find out what happens next for Xander, Jaxon and Tyler because I love these characters and could read about them all day!

Do you want a story that makes you not want to put it down? How about stay up reading late into the night? THIS is that book! It took me on a ride of ALL of my emotions and I loved the charcTers for all their difference and strengths. Every once in a while a book comes along that just touches me..this is it.
I was hesitant at first because of the whole Dom/sub storyline. That is not something I care to read about. I was wrong. This author did an outstanding job of showing part of this lifestyle. The rest of the book has suspense, drama and action
Zack! You are one of a kind! Devoted, smart and sexy. I loved everything about you! You impressed me with you heart and soul. I could really *feel* the connection you and your treasure. While at times I hated what you both went through..the connection between you gives everyone hope.
Saoirse…Dang Girl! You are strong and resilient! I hated but loved reading your story.
Overall this is my favorite book I have read by this author. She had great follow through on all storylines and characters. I was impressed by this book and it left me feeling happy.

A Tennis Pro To Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For Book 3) by Judy Moore
This is the perfect busy life read! Life can get busy where you go a couple days without getting the chance to read then lose interest in a book, but not this one! Every single chapter will have you enthralled; you won’t want to put it back down. It’s an easy to follow fun mystery that lets you connect with the characters and root for their small victories- sometimes that victory is hitting the ball over the net, sometimes it’s simply just hitting the ball!
I really enjoyed reading this uncomplicated cozy mystery novel and having not read the first two books in this stand alone series I can’t wait to go find them. Beck is living my dream life and I’m excited to see where we go next!

The Executive’s Decision is the first book in the Keller Family series by Bernadette Marie. This was my first time reading any of this author’s work and I’m so glad that I took a chance on this book as I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a contemporary romance set in Nashville Tennessee. I really loved the dynamic of the Keller family. The siblings and their parents have so much love for each other and the support that they all have for each other is very heartwarming. I’m really looking forward to reading more from this family and getting to know the other sibling better. In The Executive’s Decision we get the story of Regan Keller who is still coming to terms with the breakup from her previous boss. The last thing she needs is to fall in love with her new boss. It would be a very bad idea, or would it? Zachary (Zach) Benson is used to getting what he wants, and he really wants Regan and can’t understand why she so adamant about not having a relationship with him. I really loved the dynamic between Regan and Zach. Their chemistry is amazing and I was pulled into their story from the very beginning and taken on a journey that I really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to reading more from this series, in particular I really want to read Carlos’ story.

This book was much more than I expected it to be. There was some pretty funny parts dealing with a city boy and how things are out in the wild and his overall take on it was pretty accurate from what this country girl would imagine. There was a great flow to the way this book was read, drama and conflict were few and far between for the most part, but boy when it was there it was THERE! I will definitely be looking for more titles by KJ Holiday!

Secure Her is the fourth instalment in the Chase Security series by R.L Dunn. This is a romantic suspense, with BDSM elements, drama, danger, emotion, steamy chemistry, human trafficking, and undercover operatives . As expected from Ms. Dunn, the story is really well developed- with fantastic characters, gripping scenes, and the palpable tension and suspense that I have come to expect from her work. The human trafficking, and undercover mission made for an un-put-down-able read! Zach is just getting back into the swing of things after losing a fellow operative in a failed mission. He is riddled with guilt and the weight of the loss is a heavy load to bear. He never wants to be put in that situation ever again. But with a human trafficking ring to take down, he is going to have to subdue his inner demons to have any chance of succeeding. A great addition to the series!

The Sun at Twilight by NL Holmes is the fourth book in the Empire at Twilight series. This is a fantastic series and this book does not disappoint. The story is set during the Hittite Empire during the reign of Tudhaliya IV. The challenges to the throne and other issues have him questioning how he is to rule the Empire, fair and just or with an iron fist. I really have enjoyed this series and this book is wonderful as well. I feel myself drawn into the stories and wanting to know the story taking place. The author gives wonderful descriptions and creates and imagines the world at hand during these ancient times. I look forward to reading more in this series and from this author in the future.

BOOM! Another perfect addition to one of my favorite series ever! Might just be my favorite yet! That’s not easy to say because I think every one of them is my favorite when I hit the last page. LOL
There are actually two stories going on in this book, giving me action, suspense, danger, twists, secrets, family, and the feeling of actually being in the absolutely beautiful city of Istanbul and the mountains of Turkey.
I love these characters so so much, I’m completely invested in this series and can not wait for the next. Samaar, Luke, and Alice’s future is completely different than they had planned and I can not wait to see how this all plays out. I’m excited about the addition of Ali and even Kral and am trying so hard not to go into the storyline, you really must read this but..in order to get the whole impact of this story you really in my opinion need to read them all in order.
This author is with no doubt one of my favorites ever. Every book she comes out with is spot on perfection. They flow so well that I read every one of them in one sitting because I can literally not put them down. She always takes me on journeys that I never knew I wanted and has made me look up places because I want to see what I’m visualizing while reading. Her careful attention to detail leaving me with no questions or confusion is something I appreciate, these are just a few of the reasons she’s a favorite!
I can not wait to reread this entire series and will own every one of them, because there is a place on my bookshelf waiting for them.

This was an interesting book to read. The author did a great job with the characters and the story. The only thing I found hard was the jumping from past to present and back again. With the mixture of stories the main character makes up and the actual story it gets a little bit confusing at times.
Vince is a undercover Special Branch Agent. His next job is to go undercover and infiltrate a British Jihadi group. Going by the name of Zami he sets out to befriend two men and get accepted into the group. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for their sister.
Now Vince/Zami has a huge problem. Does he keep his commitment and do his duty for his country or does he defy all the rules and breaks everything for the love of a woman who believes he is something he isn’t?

This is the next installment of the Empire At Twilight series and it focuses on Tashmi-sharrumma, his father has died and he has now been chosen to be the next Great King Tudhaliya IV and as he grieves, he is also wondering how he will be able to take on the mantle of king and worrying that he might not be enough of anything to do it, especially with the family’s questionable allegiances and loyalties he is surrounded with. He does find comfort in his cousin Kurunta, he has since they were boys, but now he has been crowned, he doesn’t quite know how to deal with it, he has never been someone eloquent, however, he also has trouble expressing his feelings as well, as well as his wife, to a point at least. As the funeral rights and commemorative feasting comes to an end, it is time for the oath making part of the ceremony and even though he is exhausted, he agrees and as the vassals approach him to give him their solemn oaths, he is silently hoping that they are genuine with their vows and when he goes to his chambers, he is greeted with the news that his wife is expecting and is due in midsummer, he now hopes that this is a good omen for his reign.
The next day, Tudhaliya tries to escape for a few minutes onto the roof of his palace and away from everyone, but his solitude is broken when Kurunta joins him and the reminisce about their childhood and he can forget for a small time the weight which is hanging on his shoulders now and then his reign really begins when Tudhaliya meets with his generals and his mother the Tawananna to speak about the affairs of the kingdom, that there is more news coming, but this time it is all bad, the Assyrians are hounding his borders and there is a chance that the lands between them and his are vassals who may decide to turn on him if the leverage is right, there is a debate as to what to do, where the choices are hard, wither to direct them one way and give them something else to focus on but break a treaty, or to ask them to cease and desist and if they refuse, to send troops in to send them back to their own country, the king makes a decision which disagrees with the Tawananna and most of the other councillors. Next he finds out that some individuals who were exiled, have been seen and that they may be trying to shore up allegiances to usurp the throne, the decision is made to wait and see what happens, but to keep their ears open. The final thing is that the crops are having another poor year and that they may have to buy in grains if the poor weather conditions continue, after the meeting is finished and other matters of state are resolved, Tudhaliya is notified of a request for help from a vassal king and he agrees to help, but when he gets there, the battle is lost and the person he came to aid runs away instead of fighting back as expected.
As the months pass and the affairs of the kingdom are becoming steadily worse, Tudhaliya does everything he can think of to appease the gods and find out why everything is happening, but he is finding it hard to trust those surrounding him and this is putting a strain on his relationships, including the ones which he thought were the strongest. Will Tudhaliya be able to face his challenges and win the battles and hardships to come, or will the cost be too high and leave his son with a broken kingdom to rule when he has gone? This is a long and arduous journey for the king and you will be swept along with him as you hope from one scenario to the next.
