This novel is a short collection of essays that really make the reader see life in a different perspective. It helped me to see beauty in the average daily thing such as cutting an onion. I really found the authors work fascinating. I felt very relaxed and mellowed out while reading this book. It was great to really step back from life with this book.

The First Backwards Christmas by Brooke Williams 4 Stars
This is a feel good Christmas story. It takes place in a small town called South Pole in Alaska. The population has been slowly dwindling in the past few years. Jack Furst loves the town and between him and his girlfriend Joyce, they come up with a crazy idea to bring a little life back into the South Pole.
Though short, it is a cute story with a Hallmark feeling to it. I admit, I did get teary eyed at the end. It definitely gets you into the Christmas spirit.

Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler is the first in her Karina Cardinal Mystery series. We are introduced to Karina, the hero of the series, as she gets caught up in solving the mystery of a strange painting she suspects may link her potential father-in-law with a major art theft. Karina is a great character! She reminds me of Catherine Morland from Northanger Abbey in the ways that she snoops around to uncover the secrets of her too-perfect boyfriend and his family. Unlike Catherine, though, Karina’s suspicions are more the product of her observant and analytical mind than novel-fuelled fantasies. Karina is a lobbyist for a medical organisation and so has a law degree and strong morals which make her a perfect lead for this series! It’s a really enjoyable book! The mystery is enthralling and the romance enticing. The story is well fleshed out with supporting characters and various events giving the main characters time and space to develop. The story is told from Karina’s point of view, which works well as we find out her suspicions but can’t find out if she’s right or not until she does. For me, this is a five star book and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I’d recommend it to art fans and people who like a bit of mystery with their romance!

This is a very unique book and a very refreshing author. This is my first time reading this author and I have to say that I found this book to be quite interesting. The whole concept of magic in everything is just so refreshing. I really found myself getting caught up in the creative world the author was creating. I found that it really made me look at life and see just how magical it really is.
There is just so much going on in this book that you really need to just get lost in it. The author brings so much creativeness to this book. You can easily get lost in the ramblings of this book. It was such a unique book and I am so glad that I was able to read it. This is like a trip down a road less traveled and everyone should read a book like this at least once if not again and again I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Born To Fight is the first book in the Can’t Resist You series by Brittany Anne. I had never read any of this author’s work before and after reading Born To Fight I’ll definitely be reading more. Born To Fight is the story of Hunter and Rain who are thrown together when Rain saves Hunter’s life after a brutal attack from enemy forces. Hunter is the leader of the resistance who are trying to take back power from the UNR who are in control of the USA. The chemistry between Hunter and Rain is instant. Rain has lived in a bunker alone for 2 years after escaping from her brutal husband, the leader of the UNR. Rain keeps her identity a secret as she’s scared of what would happen if the resistance knew her true identity. This story had me gripped from the very first page and continued to keep me gripped right up to the very end. There are so many twists and turns, just when you think you know what’s going to happen, the author shocks you and takes you on a different journey. Both Hunter and Rain are very strong characters and have suffered so much adversity in their lives. You really can’t help rooting for them and hoping that they will get their happily ever after. Having thoroughly enjoyed Born To Fight, I’m really looking forward to see what the next instalment in this series brings.

Getting the Goods is a stand-alone novel from author Elizabeth Perry. My only issue is that I didn’t find this book sooner. I absolutely loved everything about this read, this author has a brilliant writing style that totally connects the reader to the storyline and the amazing characters she has created.
This read was filled with laughs, banter, passion, feistiness, romance and a whole lot of brilliance. I loved the concept of this book, Gabriella has taken it upon herself with the help/guidance of best friend Maria to become a mother in the most unconventional way – stealing sperm, but what she never expected was for Conner Andrews Victim Number 1 to come barrelling back into her life after the humiliation she faced the morning after with him. Especially when she finds out that he is her new boss! The connection and the back and forth banter these two have from the start is what really sets the tone to this read. Gabriella is always wanting to find any way possible to push Conner’s limits, and what she doesn’t realise is that Conner is actually finding it quite refreshing and amusing, to be honest, is one of the things he actually likes about her. But underneath all the back and forth banter, you could tell there was something sizzling especially after spending time with Conner’s family. They both realise there is actually more to each other than the deal/agreement they made while on their week getaway could something actually become of them? Could Conner go against all he knew and settle down & become a father as that is a major part of being in Gabriella’s life? Can Gabriella finally get her HEA and become pregnant and have the family she always wanted? And will Conner be apart of that life?
I read this book in one sitting! I was truly captivated with this read and couldn’t put it down, it had me laughing out loud, grinning from ear to ear and even feel some of their pain in certain situations through this book, maybe even a few tears. But this was an amazing comedy romance read that I would read over and over again. With that being said there were many secondary characters in this read that most defiantly deserve their own book such as Carter & Maria, I would love to read their story especially if Conner and Gabriella are involved in the story!
This is an incredible read that has set me up for reading more of Elizabeth Perry’s books. This is a book not to be missed!

EVERYDAY ENCHANTMENTS is like a book of poetry. It’s a collection of essays written by Maria DeBlassie about everyday things (as stated in the title). From Eggs to Hair to Reading and so much more, this book brought memories back of things I had forgotten and things I have yet to discover. Each essay is about 2 pages long so it’s the perfect book to read while sipping a cup of tea or when you have a few minutes between tasks. It is easy to put down after reading a few “chapters” and picking up again later.
Here are a few of my favorite:
Crocheting Infinite Blankets: “Your first was a monstrous purple affair…” (Does the author know me personally?) On Mondays: “They are the ugly duckling of weekdays…” I Live in Stories: “I live in stories because I am uncomfortable anywhere else.” Reading Late into the Night: “You’ve lost track of time.” (Sheesh, stop looking in my windows…hehe)
Sometimes I thought I understood how the book was put together because they seemed to be in “categories” and then something off topic would be written and I realized that it is just a book to enjoy, not analyze.
I originally rated this with 4 stars but after writing this review and going back over my highlights, I’m changing it to a 5 star review because I enjoyed even more the second time around.
Mouse Trapped is the ninth book in Satan’s Devils MC Series by Manda Mellett. This story centres on Mouse, a techie/supreme computer whiz- who has appeared in previous books. He’s always played a quiet, supporting character in the past- who we didn’t get to see too much of. He had intrigued me whenever he’d made an appearance, and I’ve wanted to know his story since the first time I met him. Mouse has Native American Indian heritage (half Navajo Indian) which makes him even more intriguing in my mind. I always felt that there was so much more to him than what we were being shown, and in this book, I discovered just how deep those waters flow… This book could be read as a standalone, without feeling like you’re missing information, or storyline- but be prepared to develop a Manda Mellett addiction, one book may not be enough! I loved following along on this story- as I have come to expect from Ms. Mellett, there was a lot more to this story than it first appears. Her stories are always unpredictable, with twists and surprising developments, and this one was no different- taking me on a ride I won’t soon forget! She had me reading with bated breath, devouring every page to discover what would happen next. There was action, drama, suspense, emotion, heat & sizzle, brotherhood, camaraderie, some humour, a great storyline, wonderful characters, and much more…. If you love a really well written, original, and riveting MC story- with complex, interesting and endearing characters- then this is definitely the book for you! I can’t wait to see what she will do next?!

Here’s a cute story with a little mystery. Mary Billiter is the author of the Resort Romance novels. Each book is about a different set of characters. Each story is based in a hotel within the Point Resorts. While this is book 6 there is no need to read them in order. But you will definitely want to read all of the books.
Rebel Roberts is our leading lady and is trying to save herself with the help of the FBI. But trouble seems to follow Rebel no matter where she goes. Ryan McHenry is a soon to be sheriff’s deputy in Rebel’s new town. He can read Rebel’s lies across town, but when they discover a dead body together, he knows that there is more going on, not just with Rebel but with some of the locals in town too.
I liked reading about these two characters and their little adventure. Billiter has an easy style to read, which makes for a quick read. She writes about characters that are real but in such a way that the reader can escape into the characters world forgetting about their own problems.

So this book was a pleasant surprise as far as it was definitely not what I expected I would be reading after reading the synopsis. This is my first book by this author and I loved everything about it except the ending…. The flow was awesome and I wasn’t even paying attention to where I was in the story and then just like that it was done and I had no idea this story would be continued, thankfully it did not end on a huge cliffhanger but there was enough of one that I wanted to throw my kindle when I was done.
I loved Evie once I got to know her, and that didn’t take long after reading about her life growing up and then where she was in the present. She has a special ability that has allowed her to make enough money to take care of her mother and her sister, but she wants out and has finally gotten to the point where she can move on yet there are a few men that are making that very hard for her as well as a stalker that she just can’t shake. She has fallen in love with Dylan, one of her clients and this whole part of the storyline had me so frustrated and although I loved them together they still had me so angry and I wanted to crawl through my kindle and slap them both.
I need the rest of this story, I have so many questions and I need to know what the future holds for Evie, will she be able to identify her stalker, will Dylan and Evie figure it out and have a future together? And so many other things…
I highly recommend this book, it was awesome and I can not wait to check out what else this author has available.

This isn’t my usual read but I’m really glad I took a chance because by the end I had a bit of a different look on life. This book is filled with thought provoking experience and I love the writing style. There’s many of lessons that could be learned from this book. There’s emotion written in that readers can feel. While this is a more thought provoking book it’s a very relaxing book to read. The perfect book for a Sunday afternoon, cozy chair and hot cocoa. I’m giving this wonderful book a five star review and highly recommend it to anyone no matter what your reading likes are.

Embattled Hearts by J.M. Madden is the first book in the Lost and Found series. This is another book I have had in my kindle for far too long and just how read. I wish I had not taken so long to read it. I have a huge soft spot for Veterans and wish there was more done for them. But an injured Veteran has my heart completely and totally.
John had a major injury while serving overseas and still resents the limitations the injury has placed on him not only in his daily life but also professional. He is just a grumpy angry Marine, but when he’s around Shannon some of that seems to fade.
Shannon loves working with the agency and the guys. Being the only female in the office doesn’t bother her a bit. She has a ghost from the past come back or at least she thinks it’s that ghost. Thankfully John is able to step in and help her.
There is suspense, romance and some hot moments in this book. I think the biggest thing it shows is love is blind. If you truly love that person you don’t notice the things that they consider imperfections. Already read the synopsis of the next book and looking forward to getting to it soon.

I try to read or listen to a form of personal development every day. While Everyday Enchantments is not a self help or personal development book and she certainly doesn’t spend the span of the book telling you how you should live, I was drawn to it because it was written to show the joy of the seemingly small things in life and centered on mindfulness. The book is comprised of essays so you can take your time indulging in the writing of you so choose. Maria F. Deblassie’s writing style is captivating and each story almost has a calming effect. She does a great way of making you reflect upon your life and how you approach it. There is magic in the day to day but you have to choose to see it. I would give Everyday Enchantments four stars and I look forward to rereading it from time to time as well as more to come from Maria F. Deblassie.

A great read about reinvention. South Pole Alaska is slowly becoming a ghost town as residents leave. When the mayor resigns, local Jack Furst is volunteered into the role. Can he come up with a way to restore their town? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like the supportive Joyce living her dream or Jack wanting to help others. Extremely enjoyable as a prequel to learn how all the traditions came to be. I loved the feel of a small town community working together to brainstorm ideas with the sense of a small town with little shops and friendly people. I also loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the Christmas tree and decorations or the Santa costume full of vivid colours against the snow white landscape. Also the sense of the elements in the cold and the snow as if you could feel it And the unusual but refreshing take on Christmas. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

5 Star Across From You By Amabel Daniels is a wonderfully written romantic comedy that I had a hard time putting down once I started reading. This is Lexi and Jack’s story. Lexi is a woman who has sworn off men and is trying to guard her heart But then she meets Jack. Jack is looking for love and can’t stop thinking about her. Will she give Jack a chance to win her heart?can he convince her that he wants a relationship with her? Will these two get their HEA? I highly recommend reading this book especially if you want to know what happens next .I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

A Must for Christmas: A Darling Cove Novella By Deborah Garland Rated 5 stars
This is a story filled with characters about strong family ties. It also gives me a feeling of the love between not only the main characters but also the whole family. It’s nice to see Greg and Faith again. She is pregnant with twins and they have just come back from Skye and Edwards wedding. Then all heck breaks loose. Can they recover together or will they lose faith?
I loved seeing all the characters from the previous books in here. This family has such an amazing bond between them. Each has had a disconnect for a bit but they have all come back. When there are times of need? They all cover for each other. The guys…well their bonding has its fun times. They girls….give good advice. I particularly liked the relationship Greg has always had with his Dad. This one shows so much of that love between them and (hopefully Greg can carry that forward.
This story made me a little emotional at times. I also chuckled a few. Hopefully this isn’t the last in the series but maybe Lily can get a story now and we can still touch base with a few of these wonderful characters!
If you have read the previous series you will enjoy this. If you have not read the series you will enjoy it as well but maybe not have such a deep understanding of the characters. Either way it a great read!

This author is an amazing writer with her unique storytelling. The characters are amazing and the plot two broken find each other and heal each other. The description of New York and Louisiana were incredible. Can friends turn into lovers? When someone friend zones you can you become more? You will have to read this amazing story. Bailey is still single at twenty five. Not the future she had in mind. If only she understood men. How they think. What they want. So far, online dating is a bust. Hope’s Decree is book one in the Fated series by Angela McPherson. I have not read work by this author for a while and it was a fantastic break from the norm, for me. This story was well balanced, with just the right amount of suspense, paranormal activity, energy, intensity and attraction.
Trinity has the frustrating ability to hear others thoughts, which she deals with with a lot of trepidation and uncertainty. And being a relative of the ever curious Pandora, how else could she be?? The timing that allowed me to read Hope’s Decree could not have been more perfect. I was ready for a story with a difference, and I can say it was a whole lot of different wrapped in excitement and wonder.
Angela McPherson has totally blindsided me with the ingenious quality and complexity of the story and its characters. I cannot wait for more. 5 stars.

Degrees of Control (A Prestian Series Book 3) by Via Mari is the third book in the series and is a suspense erotic romance story. This book continues on from the others and should not be read as a standalone because you will not have all the information about the characters and their world behind you. It took awhile for the story to rev up but when it did it got interesting and I sat up and took notice. I enjoyed but I found myself having issues with Kate she frustrated me in this book because she wasn’t willing to bend and always assumed the worst. There is lots of action and danger, secrets and mystery that will keep you intrigued to know what is going to happen.

Shoot Me is the second book in the Lie to Me series and I loved every second of it! I really enjoy this authors writing style, her descriptive language allows me to feel like I am really there in her stories and in this case in Mexico – I really could imagine everything that I was reading, the sights, the smells, the colours – everything was vivid in my mind! This book should be read after book 1 as it is a continuation, one that follows the ending of book 1 very quickly time frame wise. Layla is moving after trying to get over Mateo leaving her the way he did. A change if scene and a place full of sexy men certainly seems to be the idea that Layla has to help her achieve this! And this distraction comes with the name Pablo! Oh he was a hot one!! There was certainly a lot of passion between the two of them! Alongside all the passion and culture that the author includes in her stories Ms Filler adds other aspects too from a social and political side, this makes her books refreshing to read. From the writing style side, it did take me a little time to get into but I liked the past and present telling of the story and the format it was written in – it suited the story well. I am looking forward to more from this author again in the future!

The First Backwards Christmas by Brooke Williams is a short but cute christmas romance story. I wasn’t sure what I was getting when I first looked at he book but the story is original and a little magical and you will enjoy each and every bit of it. Christmas in South Pole, Alaska has never been quite like this one, it’s a little zany, a little wacky and a little fun. Just what the town needs. It encompasses all there is that is christmas, family and friends, love and joy, spirit and caring. It is simplistic in it’s telling which is spot on.
This is a feel good story that can be read in one nice relaxing afternoon.

Since finishing book 2 in this series I have been itching to start book 3 – I needed more of Chase and Katarina’s story and I was not disappointed at all! This is definitely turning out to be a 5 star series! The author took the drama to the next level in this book and for the first time I started questioning whether I actually like Katarina or not, this is the first time that I have ever had my feelings change towards a main character so far into the series and I love it! For me it means the author is keeping her characters fluid and they are evolving with the storyline! I still love Chase; he is an alpha male but with a softer side which I really like about him. There is still an intense sexual chemistry between then two of them in this story which doesn’t seem to be showing signs of getting any less – although Katarina had turned down Chase’s proposal I am still rooting for them as a couple! I am absolutely looking forward to the fourth book in the series and seeing what happens with Chase and Katarina!

I have really enjoyed this series so was really excited to find this new Christmas novella featuring some of my favourite characters! I loved Greg and Faith so couldn’t wait to read more about them. I love Christmas stories so I knew that I was going to love this one and I absolutely did! It was a really well written novella that I would quite happily have read a full length version of (mainly because I love this author and her amazing characters!) I loved that it was so much more than the sweet Christmas read I anticipated it to be, it had some great twists and turns in it and some very emotional moments. Ms Garland never fails to drag me into her stories and the lives of her characters with ease and this book was no exception. I would recommend the other books in the series are read as well so you can fully appreciate the back story of the main characters! I loved A Must for Christmas and I look forward to more from this author again in the future!

Mouse Trapped: Satan’s Devils MC #9 by Manda Mellett 5 stars
This book was different than the others I’ve read in this series. It still had all the MC necessities of course, but it dealt alot with heritage and also the awful process for those here from another country and getting to be able to stay legally. Mariana and Tse,aka Mouse, meet in a terrifying way in the woods, but when he learns more of her life in just one night, he vows to stay away, but fate has other plans. This was such an intense read for me, not just the action but the harrowing process Mariana went through and all the closed doors in their faces. I cant wait to see what is next for this series and I desperately need to go and read this series from the beginning to read the ones I’ve missed.

Healing Danger: A Fortis Security Novel Book 1 (Fortis Security Series) by Maddie Wade 5 stars
Ive read many books by this author but this was my first of this series and my goodness what a read. Dane and Lauren have known each other for a little while through mutual friends and then lost touch due to Laurens ex. Now Lauren is in danger and they must get to the bottom of many unanswered questions. This was full of everything needed in a romantic suspence. There were times i wanted to strangle Dane because he made a stupid choice but in the end without those,it wouldn’t have been the same. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
Alex Bailey’s Once Upon a Romance is the first book in A Dream Come True. This holiday themed story was beautifully written. My favorite character was Ariel, the niece. Even though she was not a main character, she shined in this story. That is not to say that I didn’t like Sophie. I felt her character had a lot of self-discovery and growth as the story progressed and it was handled in a way that felt natural. With most of the story taking place in Disney, this tale was magical in so many ways – from the locale, to the emotions, to the people that were passing characters in the store – it all brought together the theme of a dream come true. Alex Bailey is a talented author and I felt that she did it effortlessly within this romance that focused on the emotional ties more than the physical – you don’t always feel that passion in some stories.

Born to Fight, by Brittany Anne, is the first book in the Can’t Resist You series. This is a captivating story that is built upon the most unfortunate of circumstances driving together individuals that are drawn together despite all that is going on around them. I found the sequence of events through the story and how the author laid them out was well thought out. The story was multi-dimensional giving life to the story through the characters and events. Hunter and Rain were exceptional characters from the start of the story. The chemistry was exquisite and the journey was masterful. A great story by Brittany Anne. Can’t wait to read the next book(s) in the series.

I was super surprised at how much I enjoyed this story. I had preconceived ideas as to what it would be about and it was so much more!!!
This is a well written tale about a woman who is in tune with her empathic talent and uses it to help people heal in their life. We get to read the story from not only her point of view, but we get to”hear” her emotions as well (I enjoyed Hope most of all).
This book has a lot of layers with enough suspense that I’m invested in the journey and will immediately search for the next story in the series. (Crossing my fingers that it is written)
There are open door sex scenes but they aren’t super drawn out or used as filler to the story.
I believe this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will be reading more in the future!!!

F*cking Frank is the first book in the Smirk series by Jen Luerssen. This romantic comedy had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last. I love hat this book was told in Frank’s point of view. This book had me laughing out loud, which makes it a great book for me, and tearing up at times. It also had some steamy hot love scenes. Frank and Mikey have great chemistry and the story has me rooting for them throughout the story. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Luerssen and I’m looking forward to reading many more in the future.

Nathaniel by Carole Mortimer is book one in her series Dragon Hearts. This will be a great new series for Dragon paranormal books. Her story line gripped me and had me going through the roller coaster ride. It is a light hearted story which makes it a fast read. Carole Mortimer did an amazing job of introducing the characters. Even though there was not a depth to all the characters but Nathaniel and Chloe was the focus . Nathaniel is in a castle that is not on a map anywhere with a total of 5 males. Chloe is a journalist who is a strong independent woman who is not afraid to go after her story. Chloe knows there is a story with the guys living in this castle but will she get the story is another question. Will Nathaniel open himself and the secrets that go with him and the castle? One will have to read to find out.
