Okay first off, let’s just point out how extremely disturbing yet captivating this front cover is, I think this is what initially drew me in, but then to read the synopsis I knew this was a book I had to read! What an amazing introduction to this new author, I have been on the edge of my seat from the get-go, with the twists and turns that leave me in suspense. It’s a mentally visual read that has action and suspense and will have you feeling intense emotions throughout. This is an amazing thriller of a read and will have you hooked, captivated and utterly entranced from the get-go. I can’t wait to read more from this author, I highly recommend this read.

I must say first that I expected a lot from this novel. Probably more so than normal considering I have never read anything by Daniel James prior to Pigs. I was never, not one second disappointed either! The cover of this book draws the reader in much like one would die to see what the movie would be like it is gripping and telling yet leaves you wondering what the heck… perfect. So imagine that the novel inside will literally read like the next best horror/thriller movie. (My personal opinion, this should get a screenplay.) The author takes you to this world where revenge is literally like the air the characters read. I devoured this with chills scurrying along my spine for the majority of the novel. Be prepared for some gore and violence to shock the reader but it truly makes things seem so realistic and terrifying that you can’t tear yourself away.
Isaac Reid is our main guy with equally loud supporting characters. Isaac is released from prison to find his family brutally slain and it turns him into a literally revenge god. He is dead-set to avenge their deaths and make the murder pay. If you think that sounds like enough of a story plot to keep you enthralled expect more! There are multiple layers to this book and it is written in a way that absolutely keeps you guessing and engrossed. Not one moment does the details become too much. I loved that. I am not going to give much more away on this but be assured I will be adding this one to my re-read and own the actual book list. I look forward to seeing what else is available and to come from Daniel James.

Chasing Clay is the third book in The DeWitt Agency Files by Lance Charnes. I love a great mystery, so when this book showed up on my radar, it immediately piqued my interest. This is a twisty little mystery- with suspense, action, danger, intrigue, drama, and more. I did enjoy the story, even though it was somewhat ‘wordy’ in parts and felt a little ‘slow’ for me in the beginning. It took me a bit of time to ‘get into’ the story. But once the pace picked up, and the story unfolded a bit more, everything flowed better, and I found my groove. Even though this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone without feeling like you are ‘missing’ anything. I did note that the first two books in the series centre around Matt Friedrich as well, and so I will definitely be going back to read them too, and finding out what else Matt has been up to.

There simply aren’t adequate words for how much I enjoyed this book. If you are a visual person, I don’t know if this cover will pull you in or repel. Me – it definitely grabbed my attention. And it just got better from there. This gripping thriller was heart pounding and heart breaking, all at the same time. I look forward to reading more from this author. Amazing!

Lance Charnes characters are complex and fully developed which make the characters are believable and can be part of our world. There is a mystery around the smuggled antiques is what the DeWitt Agency is hired to sort out. Will the DeWitt Agency get to the bottom of the mystery or will they be out of their league? What is going to happen when the truth is revealed?

Chasing Clay was a good 4 star read and book three in The DeWitt Agency Files series. The book started off a little slow but once I got a little further in it took off and I couldn’t put it down.
Matt is an ex-con that has a year left on his probation. He’s tired of his probation officer breathing down his neck checking up on him all of the time. When he is given an opportunity to get off probation sooner he takes the job only problem is, he as 60 days to do it.
The job pertains to art theft of ceramics. Very expensive and historical ones. Is Matt in over his head? Can he solve the mystery and get off probation?
There were twists and turns with mystery and suspense. All of the secondary characters were great. Overall, I enjoyed this book, the author pulls you in with his writing. Chasing Clay by a Lance Charnes is the third book in the DeWitt Agency Files. This book is such a thrilling ride from start to finish. I will be the first to admit that I was blown away by the description however the boom had for such good reviews that I gave it a go. I’m so glad I gave it a go. The book was fast paced and exciting. I never quite knew which way the author was going to turn. The book was fun to read because I really felt that I got behind the characters, especially Matt who I absolutely loved. As the first book I have read by this author it was a great introduction. I am looking forward to discovering more of his work.

I was intrigued by the cover of Chasing Clay. I have never heard of Lance Charnes or his previous work until now so it was a gamble going in totally based off of the cover. I am happy that I chose to dive in and will in the future be finding more by Lance Charnes. I will say this book took me a bit to get into. I am not sure if that was because it is actually book three of a series, The DeWitt Agency Files and so I needed more back story, or if it was just a slow build up in general. I was happy I stuck to it however. This book really does blow up into a fantastic and suspenseful read that I couldn’t get read fast enough so I could know how it would all wind up. I won’t go into much more detail than what the author has divulged with the blurb because that would just ruin the way things unfold in this novel. I can’t be a spoiler, but I will tell you to take my word for it. If you love a suspenseful and twisty read then look no further this is your next read!

Chasing Clay is the third book in Lance Charnes’ The DeWitt Agency Files series. It’s a thrilling crime mystery, following ex-con Matt as he attempts to complete a mission for the agency that is guaranteed to bring his probation to an early end – either with his freedom or his incarceration. Like the rest of the series so far, Chasing Clay focuses on art theft. As the name suggests, this book centres around ceramics. This was fascinating to read – I’m pretty sure all of the art crime books I’ve read so far have been about paintings so it was great to learn about a different art form with all of the history and culture surrounding it. Helpfully, Matt is also a bit out of his depth with ancient Asian ceramics so as he studies we get useful bits of information. It’s a clever, action-packed book. The characters have understandable motivations (and reservations about what’s happening). It’s got plenty of mystery to keep you turning the pages! I came into the series at this book, and I found I could follow the story well enough. Everything’s and everyone’s introduced to you and you get plenty of background. So if you’re particularly interested in ceramics you could jump in here. Having been captivated by this book, though, I’d now like to go back and read the previous two! For me, this is a five star read. I’d recommend it to fans of art and mystery, particularly anyone interested in Thailand.

Charnes is a new author to me and I was intrigued by the plot summary of this book. I’m very glad I picked it up as it was chock full of mystery and suspense. I enjoy a good story with plenty of detail and plenty of clues to unravel. I felt like the story unfolded well and kept me as a reader wanting to keep reading to find out what would happen next. Very well written. I’m glad to find that this is part of a series and look forward to reading more of it.

The story Chasing Clay (The DeWitt Agency Files Book 3) by Lance Charnes is a wonderful book to read. It takes you on a fast-paced journey that has twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I loved reading about the character of Matt Friedrich. He is a man that is smart, unpredictable, and very resourceful. Matt is an ex-con who is promised an early end to his probation if he can finish a job in 60 days. It involves Nam Ton ware that is being trafficked. Matt soon finds himself way over his head and having to think on the fly as a federal turf war has started. Will Matt learn where the pottery is coming from? Will he finish the job in 60 days? Will he earn the early release from his probation? What does the future hold for Matt? Read this book to find out. This is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. There are other characters that are introduced and interact with Matt. Some of them are helpful to him, others have their own agenda, and then there are those who I wasn’t sure what their motives were. This book has a mystery that must be solved and if there is anyone that can do it, I believe the main character of Matt Friedrich is the one who can accomplish it. This is a story I would highly recommend reading.

I enjoyed the suspense and mystery that it brought. I had a hard time getting into the story but once I was there, it went fast. I enjoyed the attention to detail this author has throughout the story as well as the interesting characters. The Dewitt Agency is hired by a client to investigate a claim of smuggled antiques. What will happen when Matt realizes this is above his head and that his freedom in now at steak? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next with Matt.

Chasing Clay (The DeWitt Agency Files Book 3) by Lance Charnes is very cleverly written and all the threads woven together to create a great read. It is a suspenseful, mysterious and intriguing tale where there are lots of twists. It took me a bit to settle into the story as it was a bit slow but once the pace picked up it was full of conning the con man it completely engrossed and enthralled me. I really liked our main character and his clever way of thinking and putting things together. Lance has created a world that you can easily imagine and get caught up in.
I will not share the story because it is one where you need to discover all on your own. Now that I have read this book I have to get my hands on some of his other work.

Dickson puts together a gripping suspense that keeps the reader guessing. I had not read anything else in the series before picking this up but will go back and catch up after reading this installment. Crime/suspense lovers will enjoy this caper. From beginning to end I found the detail captivating and the characters interesting. Very enjoyable read and one I will recommend to others.

Pigs by Daniel James is a thrilling quest for revenge. Full of suspense, mystery drama, action, danger murder, violence, shocking scenes, gruesome details, and emotion. This is a killer game of cat and mouse, which had me in its grasp right from the beginning. I made the mistake of starting this book just before bedtime- needless to say I sat up long into the night- because I couldn’t put it down. Even when the scenes became quite harrowing, I couldn’t turn away- even though I wanted to- I needed to find out what happens. This is a story of love, loss, grief, guilt, rage, vengeance, darkness, and emotion. It is both chilling and gripping- keeping me guessing the whole way. I would class Isaac, our MC, as a bit of an anti-hero. He has done, and does do, some terrible things- but you can’t help rooting for him anyway. His adversary in this story is a real cold hearted, brutal, unhinged piece of work- and often seemed to be one step ahead of Isaac. How does it all play out? Well you really should read all the intense details for yourself. I can’t wait to see what Daniel James does next!

As much as this cover scared the bejeesus outta me I just knew I had to read this book after reading the synopsis. Holy Moly talk about a lot of moving parts. I only got lost a couple times as there was so much going on, but it didn’t take long to find my way back. I wish this author had more books out because I’ll tell you right now I would be 1 clicking right about now but I’ll have to settle with following so Im first in line when the next one comes out. I would so love to see a follow up to this book, I became so invested in Isaac’s story and I did not want it to end.
His journey to avenge those he loved was a nail biting while sitting on the edge of your seat kind of story. My heart is still literally broke for this man. I could almost feel the battle he was fighting not only physically but the one he had raging in his mind. I also loved Roach, and there just seems to be more story to tell for both of them. I sincerely hope there’s more to come.
I highly recommend anyone that loves a good crime / mystery / dangerous / thrill ride to grab this book immediately. I absolutely loved it and the writing was outstanding!

This was my first book by this author and my goodness what a thrilling ride I was taken on. I felt for Isaac and how all he wanted to do was move on from his past, but life has other plans. I couldn’t flip pages fast enough to see what was going to come next. This is a crime book so the bloody scenes were expected and didn’t bother me at all. I look forward to more book by this author. Highly recommend this book.

I found this book to be intense, emotional, with danger never far behind the characters. I was pulled into the story from the start and didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed reading about the character Isaac Reid. He finds himself having to make a choice that is hard to make. I could really feel the conflict that is felt by Isaac. I found my emotions going up and down. In this book there are characters and decisions that are more shades of gray than clear cut. The book is very detailed and I felt like I was there with the characters. Don’t miss out on a fast-paced journey. I would recommend reading it.

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. This is a suspense story that pulled me in from the first page. The characters brought the story to life. I will be going back to read the previous books in this series as DI Miller is an interesting character. This story has two different cases going on at the same time, a murder and a missing persons. DI Miller has determination in solving these cases. I highly recommend reading this book, find out if she does.

Pigs by Daniel James is a great thriller. He has created a great plot line for his characters. James also created complex-complicated characters. He shares his characters back stories and builds from there. This story is a page turner/roller coaster ride. Just when I thought things were going to the right, it takes a sharp left and back to the right again.In this story is about Isaac Reid who has served time because of a robbery of a family who was left for dead. All Reid wants is to get back to his wife and young child. Reid just wants to be a normal family but that my friends is where the plot thickens. Toxic Blonde (A Johnny Delarosa Thriller Book 2) by David Stever. I LOVE this series. This is another wonderful story about P I Johnny and this case involves another cheating spouse. Don’t they all! But this one turns into a hot mess when his client is run off the road and left for dead. Mary is left feeling scared and afraid for her life. Mary’s husband is the owner of a cutting edge aerospace technology firm and he risks it all by having an affair with a Senior Executive Keira Kaine. She comes with lots of baggage in the form of FBI, Russian Mobsters and computer hackers. The story comes with Katie, Delarosa’s assistant, and Mike his partner. Will Delarosa find out who done it before another murder happens, especially his own? This is such a good who done it. Its a fast paced page turning mystery that will leave you guessing to the very end.

Pigs by Daniel James is a thrilling read from start to finish. This author does not hesitate to yank you right into this story and does not hold back. The book is such a fast paced and exciting book. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I couldn’t help but feel for sorry for Isaac while also feeling an unexpected connection to him. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I absolutely loved it. It was a brilliant way to get introduced to his writing style and I cannot wait to read more by him.

Meet Johnny Delarosa, ex-cop turned PI in this gripping thriller, Toxic Blonde, by David Stever. It is the second book in the Johnny Delarosa Thriller Series, but can be read as a standalone- having said that though, the first book is a great read and a fantastic introduction this series. I thought it would be hard to top the first book, but this one is even better, and now my firm favourite of the two. This is a detective story with a great mystery, twists and turns, layers to reveal, thrilling developments, gripping tension- and plenty of suspense, drama, intrigue, and a superb cast of characters- with enough action to keep things moving along at a great pace. As with the first book, I was hooked from the start and devoured it in one sitting- as the story wouldn’t let me leave. I really needed to know how things would unfold and how it all played out in the end- and it was everything I had hoped for- and more. Then add a devious, cunning and brutal femme fatale, espionage, secrets, the Russian Mob, and the FBI- and feel the intensity level rise dramatically. The story starts with Johnny taking on what he thinks will be a routine investigation into a cheating spouse- but soon discovers that there is so much more to the situation than he could have ever anticipated. Things take a dangerous turn, and Johnny will need to keep his wits about him. I won’t go into anymore detail, as I don’t want to spoil it for you- suffice to say that if you love a thrilling mystery, with intriguing characters and a gripping storyline- then you really should grab yourself a copy of Toxic Blonde. Mike and Katie, who we’ve met previously- really round out the cast superbly. I love the dynamic between the characters. I also loved the addition of Eric to this story- I really hope he becomes a regular in the following books. The femme fatale was everything we were promised, and more. She’s quite a piece of work. Well thought out, and cleverly crafted! I can’t wait to dive into book #3!

This is an awesome book. It is an amazing mystery story that pulls you in from the very beginning. I found myself taken on a journey that was nonstop until the final page. I love the character of Johnny Delarosa. If I needed help he would be the one that I would go to. How will his latest case end? Read this book to find out. This story made me feel like I was right there with the characters. I also really enjoyed the characters of Katie and Mike. This is a book that had me wondering what would happen next. The technology that was written about was really interesting. This is a story that I would highly recommend reading.

Toxic Blonde (A Johnny Delarosa Thriller Book 2) by David Stever was an excellent, exciting, and invigorating mystery/crime novel! I was hooked from the start and having read book one, I think I have a new favorite in the series. I loved the various characters and how each of them tied into the story. They were organized and developed well. I had no issues imagining them as I read. I also loved how much detail the author out into describing the settings. When one would change to another, he would provide ample detail where you could almost hear, feel, and see everything the character was. I loved it and felt it really helped make the story.
The story itself was wonderful. The chapter’s were organized and set appropriately. The story had an. Easy flow, twists, and magnificent plot. It is easy for readers to get lost in. If you have not read anything from this author, I recommend you check him out. This book was amazing and is part of an invigorating, gripping, and fun crime series. Highly recommended, 5-stars.

David Stever is back with Book #2 Toxic Blonde. This book will leave you wanting more. It’s full of action, adventure, suspense and mystery.
It will have you on the edge of your seat with the twists and turns throughout the book. David Stever creates characters that pop off the pages with this read, it makes you believe you are there alongside them following their story throughout. He creates a story that is captivating and riveting from start till finish.
This isn’t a genre of book I usually read but this book is everything it’s one that shouldn’t be missed and I’m so glad I picked this read up!

Toxic Blonde: A Johnny Delarosa Thriller by David Stever is the second book in the Delarosa series. you can read this as a standalone however it is the same character as the first book so you will miss a lot of the character development. I would recommend reading them in order. These books are brilliant they are exciting and fast paced, full of suspense and twists and turns. The whole way through the book I kept waiting for the next thing to happen because I just knew it was going to come. This author has such a captivating way of writing. Everything kicks off immediately without any long drawn out build up. You are drawn in instantly to the story. If this is your genre then I would definitely recommend this series.
