Matt’s Swirly World: Children’s Book by Madeleine Matthews – Review by Tausha Treadway

Matt's swirly worldMatt’s swirly world by Madeleine Matthews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Matt’s Swirly World: Children’s Book by Madeleine Matthews. I really loved this book and wish I had it when my son was younger. Its the story of a mom who is trying to teach her son how to process his emotions in a positive way. It teaches us that an outing to the park leaves Matthew with happy feelings until its time to leave and then he has a meltdown. His mom tells him the story of a angry dragon and helps him realize a calm voice and telling a story can help soothe the child and stops his meltdown. This book is a great resource for parents because it helps them to learn what is behind tantrums and how to teach impulse control. Its tells us that talking in a calm voice can soothe a child and minimize meltdowns. It also teaches kids self control skills which in this crazy world is very important. This is a great children’s book that parents, grandparents and teachers can learn a lot from it! (less)

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book Two) by KG Fletcher – Review by Angela Hayes

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts #2)Stars Fall From the Sky by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stars Fall From the Sky is the second book in the Reigning Hearts Series by K.G Fletcher. I have read all of Ms. Fletcher’s books and have loved every one- so I was really keen to get my hands on this one. When it arrived on my Kindle, I jumped right in- and didn’t put it down till I’d read every word.
This was such an emotional rollercoaster for me. I really recommend reading with a box of tissues close at hand- because you’re going to need plenty. The story is a very emotive second chances romance- with a friends to lovers element, too. It plucked at my heartstrings so often, that it became a melody in my heart. The story is everything from tragic, to sweet and romantic. There is love, loss, grief, feelings of betrayal, ghosts of the past, trouble moving on, stuck in the past, drama, healing, learning to love again, a ‘small town’ environment, chemistry, real life realism, touching & tender moments, cute little additions, wonderful characters, an engaging storyline- and most of all, it is a story with hope, and finding happiness after tragedy.
As I have come to expect from Ms. Fletcher, the story is really well written, and the characters are quite endearing and so easy to invest in. Book three, “A Sun So Bright” (Fiona’s story)looks set to be wonderful. I can’t wait! Bring on December!

Thank you, Ms. Fletcher!

Deadly Alliance (An Alliance Agency Novel – The Prequel) by Maddie Wade & India Kells – Review by Michelle King

Deadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover NovelDeadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover Novel by Maddie Wade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Maddie Wade and India Kells have both hooked a new reader! This is my first experience with these authors and they definitely did not disappoint! When I first read the title, I honestly didn’t know this was part of two other series of books. I will now be reading those separate series! But Deadly Alliance can be read as a standalone. This story is written flawlessly. It combines two elite Special Forces agencies in Fortis and Purgatory and travels from the US to the UK on a joint mission to catch a serial killer. The characters are spectacular and immediately draw you in to their lives. The connection between Shane and Emme…..whew! Turn the air up because it’s getting a bit hot in here!

This story is filled to the brim with twists and turns that you won’t see coming! Definitely a 5 star read that will keep you turning the pages! I can’t wait to read more from these authors! I’m looking forward to learning more about these characters and their worlds.

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan Book 1) by Paige L. Christie – Review by Liz Vrchota

Draigon Weather (The Legacies of Arnan, #1)Draigon Weather by Paige L. Christie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so happy that I chose to give this new book and new author a read! This book takes what you normally expect from a fantasy, dystopian type novel and throws it out the window, only to be replaced with an epic journey that is so unexpected. This book has a bit of everything in it for everyone so if you normally don’t pick up fantasy don’t let that deter you from this novel. I was fascinated with the theme of feminism and the way the author wrote this into the story was so well done that I can’t help but fawn over it. We find a set of people in Draigon Weather, that have slowly built a life amid a world they feel they don’t belong in. Leiel and Cleod will make you rethink everything you ever expected from a dragon fantasy novel. I can’t wait to find out what will happen in the next book!

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Price by C. L. Schneider was a fun and adventurous story. I loved it! I was immediately hooked and intrigued from the beginning of the book featuring the epic battle. I really loved how easily the storyline flowed from this event and kept my attention. I felt that it was organized and edited professionally. I did not observe many errors. I also enjoyed the characters. I felt that they were excellently developed and were easy to visualize. I also enjoyed the various settings and felt they were very descriptive. It was easy to visualize each using various senses to picture myself in the novel. This is the first novel in this series, and I look forward to what comes next. I highly recommend it!

Hidden Tracks by Zoe Lee – Review by Liz Vrchota

Hidden TracksHidden Tracks by Zoe Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to start with the beautiful and inviting cover to Hidden Tracks by Zoe Lee. I was instantly invested in this story just from the cover and any book that can do that gets a shot with me regardless of the subject or author. I have read one other book by Zoe Lee however, so this wasn’t a new author to me and I so wanted to love this book hard. In an absolute honest way, this book was a struggle for me to get into. It was a bit difficult for me to follow the character development and I felt like it took a lot of time giving us a backstory to side characters that we almost forgot who was the shining stars to this book. I can see where this could eventually become a series and give more of the stories to said side characters. Maybe at that time it wouldn’t hurt to consider editing out some of the extra babble in this one to help with the flow of the novel.

Once I got to it Seth and Astrid slowly warmed my heart with the music of their relationship. I loved the soft push/pull and the way these two came off as realistic. I overall enjoyed the idea behind the book and the way things turned out. So I am giving this a four star rating with all that said in mind because of the strength that those two brought to the story. I will be looking into future works by Zoe Lee however and hope maybe we see more along the lines of Hidden Tracks with a little more of a polish to them.

Hope (Feisty Lawyers Series Book 4) by Seelie Kay – Review by Liz Vrchota

HopeHope by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of my favorite things about the Feisty Lawyers series from Seelie Kay, is that these books pack a whole lot of drama, suspense, action, and romance into concise believable novels. Hope doesn’t stray from the norm of the series. I would highly recommend that you read all the books in order before grabbing this one, the fourth of the series. We get to meet Hope earlier in the series and it really was a neat way to show her growth as a character. There is also other overlapping side stories that weave throughout all of the books. Like I said, these books are multi-dimensional. You feel as if you are reading a suspense novel for the spookiest of times with enough romance and steam to keep that side of your brain interactive as well.

Hope was a fun main character to follow. She is literally one strong woman that I would love to be like in some ways. I found her relatable and her feelings something to marvel at a bit. Hope first is shown to us as a trainee and now we have her in her role facing past demons. Will she be able to heal from the past and find ‘hope’ in the future? I can’t wait to see what will come next in the series and anything else Seelie Kay puts out in the meantime!

Falling For His Badass by Jessika Klide – Review by Liz Vrchota

Falling For His BadassFalling For His Badass by Jessika Klide
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I always know I am in for a treat when I pick up a Jessika Klide novel. I truly fell in love with the Siri’s Heart series and have been a diehard fan ever since. I was excited to see something new and fresh as much as I love Siri, from Ms. Klide. Falling For His Badass was exactly what I needed too! A fast ride with lots of hot and steamy moments to keep you enthralled and glued to the screen of my kindle for several hours. I am pretty sure it was a dark four a.m. when I finished up this book, but I had to know how things would come to be for Lizzy and BA.

BA is a nice nickname for Brody Andrews as it covers his ‘bada**’ personality as well. His plan to seduce and make Lizzy his, is one that you won’t want to miss out on. Lizzy has just ended a relationship and a new love is the farthest thing from her mind. When her bestie decides that she wants to hook her up with her boyfriends brother the first thing Lizzy thinks is run. These two have all the right amounts of chemistry, drama, and so much more that you can’t help but fall in love with them and root for them by the end of the novel. I can’t wait to see what will come next from Jessika Klide!

Hang On To Your Shirt Tails (Chasing Tails Book 2)Hang On To Your Shirt Tails by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What another brilliant read from C.A. King. These books really need to be read as part of a series for the storyline to really flow. You can never be disappointed about what C.A. King will bring you, and once again I was proved wrong in the case of thinking each one couldn’t be better than the last, but once again I’ve been proved wrong, this book is full of twists and turns that will leave guessing and wanting more. I loved following Tails & Brodie’s story, the journey that they take is captivating and they as characters are likeable and keep me hooked to the book. Its full to the brim with an amazing storyline that will leave you wanting more from this series and more importantly this author. I can’t wait to see where else this series takes us, and what will happen next. Well done again C.A. King.

5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading this book. It pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let go until the final page. It has a mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering what will happen next. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Detective Caleb and Mackenzie. Their characters are one of the reasons that I enjoyed the story. Who killed Louise Harper? With so many suspects will the killer be caught? Read this book to find out. Many of the additional characters I enjoyed reading about. Then there are those who I didn’t know what to think of them or their intentions. The story made me feel like I was right there with the characters and following the clues with Detective Caleb. I couldn’t put the book down. It has believable characters and a wonderful storyline. I highly recommend reading it.

Matt’s Swirly World: Children’s Book by Madeleine Matthews – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Matt's swirly worldMatt’s swirly world by Madeleine Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read Matt’s Swirly World to my 3.5 year old, and he seemed to enjoy it. It was a little over his head, but he liked the pictures. He loved pointing out the dragon and his emotions on each page. I can see it would be a good book to help slightly older kids identify their emotions. Matt feels disappointment and anger when he has to leave the park. But his mother tells a story of a dragon and fairy to help him understand his feelings. In a fun way, she teaches him ways to cope with the feelings to let them pass. It also helps explain that emotions come and go, like a wave. The pictures were colorful and capturing, but the words were a little lengthy for young children. I would recommend this for maybe 5-8 year olds.

Chicken Scratch (The Sisters, Texas #1)Chicken Scratch by Becki Willis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Becki Willis is a new author to me and her book Chicken Scratch the first book in The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series looked interesting. Becki Willis has a great plotline and complex complicated characters for me makes the best stories. This story is about Madison Reynolds. She has had a lot of misfortune come into her life before 40. She is a widowed and does not have a penny to her name. So she did what anyone who do is to pack up her twins (teenage girls) and moves back to The Sisters Texas and moved in with her grandma. She is not looking forward to small town living especially moving from Dallas. She finds herself in a pickle. She is not an investigator but needs to become one to help someone out. Madison needs to figure things out and quickly. I highly recommend this story to see what Madison is capable of and how her life in The Sisters pan out.

This is the next amazing book in a series I have loved from the first story. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next. Karina Cardinal is back. She finds herself helping out a friend of her sister, Jillian. She soon finds herself caught up in a mystery that she was not expecting. Read this book to find out the full story. This mystery will keep you guessing and turning pages. There are many characters in this story. Some of them are helpful to Karina, some have their own agenda and will do anything to make sure their plans succeed, and some make you wonder whose side they are on. The book pulled me into story and I didn’t want to put it down. The author has done a wonderful job in making the characters come alive and the story unforgettable. Hang On To Your Shirt Tails (Chasing Tails Book 2)Hang On To Your Shirt Tails by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hang On to Your Shirt Tails by CA King is the second book in the Chasing Tails Series. I really recommend reading the first book in the series first because this picks up where the first story left off. Tails and Brodie are trying to get their lives back on track and make a safe place for their adopted children. Things are not always what they appear and they are led to a false sense of security. What happens when things start to erupt?
This story has it all and it is a very quick read. I did not want to put it down because I wanted to see where the story progressed. There is so much involved and I do not want to give anything away. Just know if you like fantasy, adventure, twists and turns, and interesting characters you will not be disappointed.

Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 3) by Ellen Butler – Review by Erin Wolf

Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery, #3)Diamonds & Deception by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 3) by Ellen Butler, 5 stars.

This is one of those series where I forget just how good it is until I pick up the next book. I absolutely love Karina. She is fun, quirky, real, has a big heart and so likeable. I would love to have her as a best friend. This time, she tries to stay out of things but gets pulled in by her sister. You can’t say no family. But she has learned from her past experiences. She asks for help from the guys at Silverthone Security. These guys are great too, I would love to see more about each of them — maybe a book dedicated to them? Karina, her sister, and the security guys try to get to the bottom of things to find who is really guilty and just what is really going on.

Besides the characters, the story itself is so compelling. It begins when Katrina’s sister Jillian attends a fashion show with her coworker. The night ends abruptly when the coworker is accused of stealing diamonds and arrested. Now they have to figure out if she is guilty, not to mention prove it. This would be enough for some mystery/suspense books. But wait, there’s more! They later discover something even more sinister is going on and find themselves thrown right into it. There were a few times I thought the book may soon be over, only to realize there was much more to go. The the author switching gears on us and leading us in a different direction is done so smoothly and so effectively it kept me from putting the book down.

I highly recommend this series and book to those who like real, strong female characters in their whodunnit/suspense books.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one emotional roller coaster! I mean reading the synopsis gives a bit of a clue so I was prepared for the tears. But then a few pages later….anger. Yes I was shocked then I got mad. Not at the book. One certain character….well maybe two. You will know what I’m talking about if you read this. This author played me like a violin. Sad…Irritation…disbelief then shock and anger. Well let’s end on a good note…there was happiness too. Especially when the good Doctor was holding Daisy. So cute!

It was nice to see Emeline and Thomas so heavily involved with this story. I was able to catch up with them while getting Ginger’s story. Very well done.

I always enjoy this authors books and this was no exception. I feel she really writes from the heart.

This has to be one of the sweetest stories ever! It caught me totally off guard because when I think of this authors books I immediately get scared lol but this one..oh my gosh I loved it and read it in one sitting. I’ve only read the books of hers that mess with your mind so this was a welcome change and now I just want to go see what else is available and read them all.

I want a Max/Maxine she was my favorite character in this whole book and I love that I was left guessing with her in the end. June had it rough growing up, some would think she had it made but it was the complete opposite and I felt all the feels reading her story. She came out the other side though a strong force that didn’t trust easily, if at all. This made life rough for Graham as his immediate attraction to her had him wanting to break down all those walls she had put up.
I loved the friendship bond between Monica and June, even if it still took a while for June to open up and trust her.

I love how this story was written, it had me hooked from the start and is one of those kinds of books you just want to curl up on the couch with coffee, a warm blanket and no distractions. This had it all…It had me super angry at times, super sad, and there were times I laughed at the banter between June and Graham. This was unique and I loved the message this book portrays.

Totally awesome read…A definite one click author for me.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha) (The Leonidas Corporation Book 1) by Tarina Deaton is a great first book that is right up my ally. I love me some alpha military romance. It is a quick read and is a wild ride through long forgotten Mayan ruins and the hunt for long lost treasures. The suspense and the danger are palpable and it will have your heart pounding as you turn the pages and get lost in the story.

Kinley is going on her first archaeological dig, she is pumped, she is excited, and she is also unaware of the danger that is lurking right at her doorstep. She is responsible for finding something that has been lost for many, many years.

Shane a former Navy SEAL and his mates are on a much needed break and are going to traipse through the jungles of Guatemala. Unfortunately plans change when things become decidedly dangerous for the young woman that they offered a lift to when stranded.

If you are looking for a quick and easy read that ticks all the boxes for entertainment then this is the book to do so. I am so excited to see what Tarina gives us next.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an incredible story! Somehow it managed to have all my favorite things…Pirates?! For Real. Jax Marlin is intelligent, tough and sexy. Michael Pedroni is a cop with a weary edge to him but honest and focused. It’s his job to bring her in. This story was a great adventure, suspense, action, deep introspection. Everything that makes a story good and unforgettable. The main characters are thoughtfully crafted, and have you hooked in at the get go. The main supporting characters are just as carefully crafted. So well described you have no difficulty picturing them. There is plenty of action packed scenes in this book and they are all artfully and thoroughly thought out. This doesn’t feel like an off the cuff story, this feels like and reads like an art form. I love strong female characters and Jax does not disappoint. Not gonna lie, I think I am a big fan of Jax Marlin and I will be looking for more adventures with her. If you’re looking for a good solid read with a wild ride, this is the book for you. Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts #2)Stars Fall From the Sky by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book 2) by K.G. Fletcher is the most beautiful heart wrenching story I have read in a while. Beware lots of tissues are needed. K.G. writing transcends the usual storytelling to a magical place where you completely lose yourself and become entwined with the characters. It is a second chance story that had me devouring every word and turning those pages. It is a story that is enveloped in love, loss, lies, broken promises and heartache but through your darkest days you do manage to find healing and in that healing a second chance at the one thing you never thought you would find again.

Ginger finally had it all, life was a dream but one second that was all ripped away and now she had to try to work through it and live again.

Jonathon is the new doctor in town but behind the happy façade is a sad and broken man.

It is such a beautifully haunting tale that no one and I mean no one should pass up to read.

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia #2)Virtue & Vice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Virtue & Vice is the next book in the Spicetopia series. In this book we follow Katja and Moon, primarily, but Cy and Jolie are still part of the story. It picks up shortly after they are introduced at the end of book 1. Cy and Jolie have decided to take a drunken idea and turn it into a reality, with the help of Katja and Moon. An island housing a kinky theme park for adults. This book is pretty spicy, so mature audience only. I love that the book is not just a romance, but houses a pretty good story line. The characters are great, and we get to see both sides of the story and their personal feelings and emotions. I love that its a continuation of the same story, but the character focus has shifted. I haven’t read a book series like that before, but I like it. Continuing on to book 3.
