I have now read every one of this authors books and I will also read every book she comes out with. She is one of those authors that you never know what might be instore for you when you open one of her books, she is never predictable and I sit afterwards always pondering what I just read. She has a talent that has her in a class of her own and I just can’t say enough about how much I love her. This trilogy is simply awesome..totally different than anything I have every read and each one of them had me totally breaking from real life and I was totally invested in these characters…

Alterations – This is about three women, each with a different issue in life. This is also about one man, “Dr.” Kite, who set out on a mission to help these three women with their life issues by offering them an answer using an implant that can control their minds. Although short, the author fit in enough backstory for each character that I was able to understand and fall in love with each one. It brought up questions in my own mind, if I could pick the one issue in life I struggle with would I take the same risks these three women took? Especially knowing that when something seems too good to be true, it could be just that..too good to be true….

Game Changer – This story carried on from the first, the 3 ladies that Dr. Kite “helped” have now started moving on with their lives, and each one dealing with their own good and bad. Dr. Kite is again up to something, and I loved reading his parts of this story.. I don’t know why he fascinates me so much but he does…Would I trust him if he showed up at my door? Ehhh, maybe to an extent.

Primal Will – This last installment had me reading so fast I caught myself tripping over the words and making myself slow down so that I could savor every second of it. What an amazing storyline from start to finish, so creative and addictive and I can not wait to go back and read the whole series all over again. Not going to go into anymore detail because it will take away from all 3 books..

Ok Miss Jane Suen, I’ve read all of your books, and I want more…You are an amazing story teller and I can not wait to see where you take us next!! But rest assured I’ll be one of the first in line to find out!

Brilliant!!

Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen – Review by Katie Matthews

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This trilogy includes the three books Alterations, Game Changer and Primal Will.

Alterations
I loved this book! It was a nice break from my usual romance genres. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it in all honesty but the blurb really intrigued me and it didn’t take long to be completely sucked into it! I still can’t decide if I should like Dr Kite or not?? Half of me did and the other half was thinking what a psycho! Although if someone wanted to implant one of those weight-loss chips in me that I think I might consider it!! It is a fast paced book and the writing style of the author reflected this well in my opinion. It does jump about between characters but it’s all tied up during the later stages of the story. I found it easy to keep up with and I think it would have made a really good full length novel too!

Game Changer

I loved book 1 in this series, it was so different to anything I had read so I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved that each chapter again was short and to the point and that we got to see how each character was getting on. I had a feeling that there were going to be a few twists and turns in the story and I was right! I had no idea what was going to happen and the author kept me guessing the whole way through. The author’s unique writing style is really engaging, you don’t get bored with long chapters, everything moves at a good pace and my interest was kept all the way through. I love the girls in the story and enjoyed reading about their lives after the implants but the character who I love reading about the most is Dr Kite! His chapters are the shortest but he is the most intriguing!

Primal Will

I couldn’t wait to begin book 3 just to find out what was going to happen with Dr Kite! Throughout all of the stories he is the one I have been most intrigued with – is he trying to do good or is he actually manipulative and evil? I think that he is one of those characters where you kind of have to make up your own mind about him. I will say that I did see a slight different side to him in this story and I think that everything came full circle for all of the characters involved. It was a brilliant ending to this trilogy.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This trilogy starts off with Alterations and is easy to read. It is a story about 3 different women with 3 different situations. Dr. Kite seems like a hero with his “alterations” for the women. Game Changer is book two and continues the story with Lilly, Ellen and Gigi. We learn how their lives have changed with their alterations from book 1. It is an interesting and intriguing read. The trilogy finishes up with Primal Will, which has a slightly twisted ending, so keep reading! Over all this trilogy was pretty good.

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen are a Sci Fi trilogy that are quick and easy reads.

Alterations is an interesting short tale and is full of suspense and mystery. The story is told in multiple POV’s which gives us the readers a better understanding of what the characters think, why they do what they do. Like our good doctor, Dr Kite. Is he a genius or is he Dr Frankenstein? Is he clever or is he crazy? And just what is he doing to people?

Game Changer: Book 2 holds you from start to finish. This book carries on in the same vein but has an under current of mystery and feels a tad sinister and I expect everything that is coming will end in an explosive way.

Primal Will: Book 3 is the last book in the trilogy and one that pulls a punch. Jane’s writing style and her plots keep you engaged every step of the way. Dr Kite is in the forefront of the story once again but is he still evil or will he trade it in a become Mr Nice? To find out you will just have to read this trilogy.

Alterations Trilogy (Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will) by Jane Suen – Review by Angela Hayes

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Alterations Trilogy is a thought provoking and interesting read by Jane Suen. I would categorize it a science fiction story that is a little mysterious and suspenseful. It is a very quick, easy read.

The trilogy consists of:
-Alterations (Book #1)
-Game Changer (Book #2)
-Primal Will (Book #3)

An overview of the series:
We meet Ellen, Gigi and Lilly who are all desperate to change aspects of themselves, in the hope of finding happiness. This is where Dr. Kite offers a procedure that he assures them will change their life. The procedure involves having an implant imbedded into them; the implant then controls their mind and alters them from the inside out. Will Ellen lose the weight she’s so desperate to rid herself of, find the self-respect she’s after and get a little romance in the process? Will Gigi find the true love she been yearning for? And can Lilly finally cast aside all the bitterness she harbours from her nasty divorce?
An implant sound like such a simple way of fixing a multitude of problems. Could it really be that easy? Is there a catch? As we progress through the story and follow the women and Dr. Kite through their experiences we discover that there is a little more to the story than first meets the eye. With unforeseen issues, a couple of faulty chips, plots, and hidden agendas this trilogy kept me avidly reading to discover all the suspenseful and dramatic details.
This was an interesting concept and gave me a lot to think about. The plot is quite complex and even with each book being a very quick and easy read, the story never lost momentum, but I would have liked a little more depth and character details/backstory- especially in the first book. But as the series progressed and the story evolved, I did enjoy it much more.
I look forward to seeing what Ms. Suen does next.

Thank you, Ms. Suen!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jane Suen’s Primal Will is the third book within the Alterations trilogy. This is a science fiction/fantasy/psychological novella featuring a story that will push your concept of what is possible and real versus what could be possible beyond our imaginations. This trilogy has focused on three women who sought change that has had unexpected results, whether ones they can live with or ones they live to regret. The author did an fine job in bringing a conclusion to this trilogy edging the line on what to expect and what could possible be forthcoming. I found this trilogy unique and quite enjoyed how Jane Suen tied this series together.

Primal Will (Alterations Series Book #3) by Jane Suen – Review by Angela Hayes

4 Stars

Primal Will is the third and final book in the Alterations series by Jane Suen. This has been such a great series to read- packing such a lot into a fairly short space. I am a little sad to say goodbye to these characters, and the intriguing story that was woven around them. But, I think that there was a detail that was not yet settled- so I am hoping that this may because Ms. Suen plans to release more books that will explore this, as in a spin-off series or in a companion book series… I am holding out hope. This is a fast paced read that is full of intrigue, suspense, drama, some mystery, great character development, and a gripping storyline.

We pick up with Ellen, Gigi, Lilly, and Dr. Kite again- and I have to say that Ms. Suen did a fantastic job of choreographing all the elements from the first two books, to finally culminate in this book- without losing any of the momentum, suspense, grittiness- or the unpredictable nature of the story. She still managed to surprise me with the developments. What will the future hold for them all? Will they finally find the happiness that they’ve each been searching for? What of Dr. Kite and his ‘experiments’?

A unique and intriguing story/series- and I look forward to seeing what Ms. Suen does next.

Thank you, Ms. Suen!

Primal Will: Book 3 of the Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen os the last book in the trilogy and a quick read short read but one that pulls a punch. The story picks up right where the last left us so I highly recommend you read the first two books in this series, which are also short reads, to make sure you know what is going on because you will find yourself lost with who the characters are and what is going on. Jane’s writing style and her plots keep you engaged every step of the way. Dr Kite is in the forefront of the story once again but is he still evil or will he trade it in a become Mr Nice?

To find out you will just have to read this trilogy. I wonder what Jane has in store for us next.

Sitting here staring at the screen wondering what words to use to review this book, this series, and this author…

I’ve said it before and I will repeat…You absolutely never know what your going to get when you read one of this authors books, but the one thing you can always count on is you will read the last page and say to yourself…Wow, or something similar.

This series was quick when you rate it on the amount of pages contained in it as a whole, but when you rate it on content it seemed like so much more…This last installment had me reading so fast I caught myself tripping over the words and making myself slow down so that I could savor every second of it. What an amazing storyline from start to finish, so creative and addictive and I can not wait to go back and read it all over again, but this time back to back.

I’m not going to go into the specifics of the story….It needs to be read and mentioning anything here will take away from the other books in this series…Read it..In order, I dare anyone to read this and not sit in total awe of this author and then sit at different spots during the story contemplating your own thoughts about what your reading!!

Ok Miss Jane Suen, I’ve read all of your books, and I want more…You are an amazing story teller and I can not wait to see where you take us next!! But rest assured I’ll be one of the first in line to find out!

Game Changer (Alterations Series Book #2) by Jane Suen – Review by Angela Hayes

Game Changer (Alterations #2)Game Changer by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Game Changer is the second book in the Alterations series by Jane Suen. This is a very quick and easy read, full of suspense, drama, and some science fiction elements.
We met Ellen, Gigi, Lilly, and Dr. Kite in the previous book, and catch up with them again in this story just after the events of book one. After the fire destroyed Dr. Kite’s research, it seemed that all his hopes went up in flames. But, was everything destroyed? Is there a chance that he may be able to resurrect his implant experimentation?
Each of the women appear to be going from strength to strength- but I feel that there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. But with some getting up to their old tricks, and others plotting revenge, this story had me avidly reading, trying to keep up and find out what was happening.
This was an interesting and thought-provoking story, and as with the first book, the plot was quite complex for such a short story. The story is told from several points of view, and I feel that maybe this detracted just a little from the overall storyline, especially considering the length of the book. I fell it would have worked a lot better in a longer novel.
The story is quite a unique concept and an enjoyable read. The story is set to continue in the next book, and the way it’s shaping up it has the potential to be amazing!

Thank you, Ms. Suen!

Game Changer is the second book of the Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen and is a sci fi  story of sorts. It is a very quick read, the same as the first but it holds you from start to  finish. This book picks up where the first book left off and carries on in the same vein  but has an under current of mystery and feels a tad sinister. As there is multiple  characters with a story, reading the first book is essential or you will not know what is  going on. The story is told in multiple POV’s so it gives an insight into each characters  life. As this is a trilogy I expect everything that is coming will end in an explosive way.  Looking forward to see what Jane has left in store for our characters.

I LOVED this book, but that’s not a surprise because I love every one of this authors books. I’ve read them all and can not wait for the next.

I wasn’t even aware that there was another book coming after Alterations and when I saw it and then saw that its a trilogy??? This author writes in a way that when you pick her books up you have no idea what you may be in for. Every one of them are different and this to me is awesome!!

I have read all of this authors books and she never ceases to amaze me. Through most of the book you sit scratching your head asking where in the world is she going with this story, savoring every word along the way. This was a quick read, full of content. Not sure how she does it but she can in just a few pages build the best characters and her storylines are always out of this world.

With so much going on in the world today this story was spot on, well maybe not all of it but if you read it you’ll know what I’m talking about. I loved Telly and the part he played and loved how there was enough of a build up that I could use my imagination for his future 🙂 the ending was one I did not see coming…my thought process was way off as it was pretty obvious when the truth came out, but again this author weaves a story that when your done reading you just sit and think for a few minutes.

Thank you Miss Suen for another thought provoking read. I love how she is so unpredictable..you never know what you are gonna get when you open one of her books.

Awesome!!

Flowers in December by Jane Suen – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Flowers in DecemberFlowers in December by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flowers in December by Jane Suen tells the story of a young man, Connor, returning to the town where he grew up to bury his mother. Having spent most of his adult life working hard to keep away from the town (for reasons that become clearer towards the end of the book), he faces guilt at having not returned more frequently while his parents were alive and once again has a chance to spend some time in town as he sorts out his parents’ possessions and gets to know the people who were important to them. The change of pace also prompts him to begin to think critically about his lifestyle and the choices that he has made along the way.
It’s a charming book, with a loveable cast of characters (Tom the cat is probably my favourite, with elderly neighbour Mrs Rainer in close second). Suen approaches the theme of grief sensitively and doesn’t sugar-coat it.
Although on the shorter side, the story seems to be just the right length. I didn’t feel, like so often with shorter books, that it ended abruptly and equally it didn’t drag on.
For me, this book gets five out of five stars. I enjoyed reading it and had difficulty putting it down. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something short and satisfying with a focus on friendships (although there is also a little romance).

Flowers in December is a very short tale by Jane Suen and is a touching story of one person’s grief. It is a very emotional time for our main character, which sees him going through a myriad of emotions on this journey which also leads to self discovery.

The writing style is easy to follow, but I did find it hard to hold my attention at times, with the overly polite conversations taking place, but Jane did a nice job of dealing with the sensitive issue death.     This book will remind you not to take others for granted in your life and suddenly finding your place in the world even through loss.

Miss Suen has found a way on to my favorite author list. I think what I love most about her is that you never know what your going to get when you read her books. She is definitely not predictable and that’s just one of my favorite things about her.

I was able to feel every single feeling that Connor was feeling in this book. I lost my Mom just a few years ago and it changed my life. This story was as real as it gets, there was no added drama and major twists and turns, I did kind of feel like I knew what was going to happen but it was more like it was what I was hoping would happen, and I’ve let my imagination take over the rest.

This author is a definite one click, her words flow so perfectly and her storylines are out of this world, and I can not wait to see what she comes up with next. I loved loved loved this book.

This is not my first book by this author, and again will not be my last. I love her writing style and how the words of whatever story she writes just flow so easily. She’s so creative and I love not knowing what I’m going to get whenever I open one of her books.

This was an extremely quick and fun read. Each story took a few pages to tell but were so full of emotion that my thoughts and imagination made the stories so much longer. The first one definitely made me smile, the second one made me sad, then hopeful, and the third one was probably my favorite and made me feel content and the bonus story at the end made me laugh out loud, once I realized what I was reading I had to read it again to fully appreciate it.

Great book, I loved it!
