Simply Irresistible: A Totally Sweet Love Story by Jennifer L. Allen – Review by Katie Matthews

Simply Irresistible: A Totally Sweet Love StorySimply Irresistible: A Totally Sweet Love Story by Jennifer L. Allen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED this story! I really enjoy this author’s wonderful stories, they are so sweet and as the title says irresistible! She writes wonderful contemporary romance stories that are engaging from the start and with characters I always fall in love in love with straight away. I loved Tyler! I liked that he was able to admit his faults when it came to relationships, and I loved that he was obsessed with the 90’s! Totally my era for growing up! Melanie was just adorable, she really was! I loved her naivety and shyness when it came to even looking in Tyler’s direction and I admired her attitude when it came to the job that she absolutely loves! I could feel the connection between Tyler and Melanie; it wasn’t that all consuming passion in some stories but more of a gentle, slow burn – it was perfect for the two of them! For me I thought that they were just perfect for each other and I was rooting for them the whole way through.
Simply Irresistible was a super sweet read and one that I highly recommend! I can’t wait to read more from this author again in the future!

The Traitor (An Underground Bad Boys Romance Book 2) by India Kells – Review by Katie Matthews

The Traitor, An Underground Bad Boys SeriesThe Traitor, An Underground Bad Boys Series by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Traitor was another amazing 5 star read by an extremely talented author! I loved every single second of what I was reading. When I read book 1 in this series I said that whilst I’m not a fan of MFM stories I love this author so I’m willing to read them however even I cannot deny that pull that these characters had to each other. The passion, the chemistry and the connection that they had was immense and the author really does write the scenes very well. I loved Spencer, there was just something about him that drew me to him straight away, he felt like he was broken and it honestly made me want to give him the biggest hug ever! Josie was a fantastic female lead; she was feisty with a stubborn streak and in my opinion perfect for Spencer! Throw Gage in to the mix and it told for a very steamy time for these three characters!
I absolutely loved this story and would 100% recommend it to other readers. It could be read as a standalone however I highly recommend the first book in the series (and any other book by this author) also!

Eternity (Captivity Series Book 3) by Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk – Review by Katie Matthews

Eternity (Captivity Book 3)Eternity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The third and final book in the series, Eternity by Ms Biglow and Ms Zenk was probably my favourite from the series! I have really enjoyed all of the books but this one really did capture my attention from the very first word. I am still in awe of these two authors and how seamlessly their writing just blends together as if one, it is really difficult to tell that this actually is a dual author written story! I loved getting back in to the action with Aiden and Lorelei – they really had to work hard to make sure that their loved ones and each other were safe from a deadly plot! I have to say I’m not usually a fan of shifter stories but these two authors have definitely piqued my interest – I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole of this series and I am looking forward to reading more from them again in the future – both as joint authors and as individual ones.

Game Changer by Sylvie Stewart – Review by Katie Matthews

Game ChangerGame Changer by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Game Changer was another great read by Sylvie Stewart. I always enjoy picking up one of her new releases as I know that I am most definitely going to be in for a good read. I was easily lost in Ms Stewarts writing and I loved the characters Poppy and Mac. This really was a sweet read, it made me laugh and it definitely made my heart all warm and fuzzy. Poppy was such a wonderful character to read about her, I really admired her tenacity and I loved the quirky side to her personality. Mac was one of those characters that whilst I knew straight away that I was going to love him he made me work for it! I definitely had to get to know him! I loved reading their story and I think it is definitely one of my favourites of 2019!
Game Changer was a fantastic 5 star read that I highly recommend!

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla – Review by Katie Matthews

Beau and BettBeau and Bett by Kathryn Berla
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So when I first saw the cover for this book I didn’t really bother to read the blurb because I am all for modern day retelling’s of fairy tales – they are some of my favourite reads so I just jumped right in and I got a huge surprise – this book was not what I was expecting at all but it was a great read! Like I say not what I was expecting but enjoyable nonetheless. Although I will say that I don’t think I would have necessarily have guessed from reading the book that it was a retelling of Beauty and The Beast to be perfectly honest if it hadn’t been made clear on the cover. The authors writing was good, the story had a great pace and flow to it.
I did struggle to connect with the characters at times, I found them a little irritating but I think as the story progressed I began to understand them a little more.
I have read a few books by this author now and as always I look forward to reading more in the future.

Siren’s Call is another wonderfully written story by Amy McKinley! I love picking up books by this author as I know I will be in for a good read and this book was no exception. I was captivated by everything that I was reading and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough trying to find out what was going to happen. The author’s attention to detail in her writing is just excellent; she brings the story and her characters to life through her imaginative and creative writing style. I loved the characters Nerissa and Zeer, I thought they were well developed and I really enjoyed reading their story. I felt connected to Nerissa in particular; she was a likeable character who I was rooting for the whole way through!

I really enjoyed book 1 in this series so I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this one and seeing what was going to happen. Again I was quickly transported into the lives of these characters and I was captivated from beginning to end. This book started pretty much where book 1 finished so it is necessary to read the stories in order to fully understand what is going on. The characters, were excellent as expected, I enjoyed reading their continuing story. I loved the emotions that the author put into the characters especially Lorelei, I really could feel all the emotions that she was feeling. I am really looking forward to more from these two wonderful authors and I highly recommend this book and series!

Here we are again with another wonderful set of stories in the Guilty Pleasure series – full of passion, chemistry and some very steamy moments! I love reading about Brad *swoon* and all the sexy things that he gets up to! The stories in this collection may be short but they are in no way any less steamy! Joyce McCartyh definitely has a talent for writing these short, steamy stories; they certainly knows how to raise the temperature quickly! The pace and flow of the whole book is fantastic and absolutely keeps your interest from beginning to end! I am really looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

Trouble in Mind is another excellent story in the Interstellar Rescue Series – I absolutely love getting lost in this authors writing! Her attention to detail is amazing and it makes for some great world building. I think that this may be my favourite from the series so far! I loved Alana and Gabriel! They were fantastic characters to read about and I was fully invested in their story and everything that was going on! I loved the twists and turns and guessing alongside the characters about just what was going on – things definitely weren’t as they first appeared! Multiple Points of View meant that I was fully immersed in the story from beginning to end. The authors’ writing was great with a fantastic pace and flow! Legacy of Luck (The Druid’s Brooch Series Book 3) by Christy Nicholas – Review by Katie Matthews

Legacy of Luck (Druid's Brooch #3)Legacy of Luck by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Legacy of Luck is another wonderful read and addition to the Druid’s Brooch series by Christy Nicholas. I am always completely captivated by this author’s books, her attention to detail when telling the stories means that I can always easily envisage what I am reading. Her world building is excellent. The story is a slow build which I really liked, I really liked and connected with the characters – I especially liked Eammon, I thought that he was a great character. I definitely found myself rooting for him and Katie; there was this real and genuine connection and attraction between them both. The author put a lot of emotion into the story and it worked well against the suspense of what was going to happen.
Legacy of Luck was a really great read, although part of a series it could be read perfectly well as a standalone. I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Undercover (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 2) by Via Mari – Review by Katie Matthews

Undercover (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 2)Undercover by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely LOVED this story! It is yet again another amazing read by the very talented Via Mari! I was hooked from beginning to end and I could not put it down at all! I loved Marenah and Matt! Their story was definitely full of action and a lot of steamy moments! I love how Ms Mari has intertwined characters from her other two series into this new one – although it is not necessary to have read them this book reads perfectly as a standalone.
I thought Marenah was a fantastic character, so strong, independent and she could definitely hold her own when it came to it! I loved reading about her!
I think I fell in love with Matt pretty much straight away! There was just something about him, so genuine and likeable.
The moment that Marenah and Matt met I just knew (and hoped) that there would be something between them, apart from the attraction and chemistry there seemed to be something a little deeper there.
I am really looking forward to reading more from this series and as always this author! I 100% recommend this amazing read to others!

Unchained Memory (Interstellar Rescue Series Book 1) by Donna S. Frelick – Review by Katie Matthews

Unchained Memory ( Interstellar Rescue Series Book 1)Unchained Memory by Donna S. Frelick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am not usually a fan of Sci-Fi stories however I really enjoyed Unchained Memory, it didn’t take me long at all to get into the story and I was really impressed by the author’s world building and attention to detail. There were some great twists and turns in the story that definitely helped to keep my interest throughout the book. I loved Asia and Ethan! They had such a great connection, very genuine and believable. I liked that whilst there were some steamier scenes between the two the author made sure to not let them overpower the story and kept it as a sci-fi romance read. The host of secondary characters were a great addition to the story and really felt like they had their own roles, it was nice that they were included and they were integral to the storyline.
Overall a really enjoyable read and I am looking forward to reading more from the series!

The Season Finale (Paranormal Talent Agency Book 6) by Heather Silvio – Review by Katie Matthews

The Season Finale (Paranormal Talent Agency, #6)The Season Finale by Heather Silvio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I cannot believe this is the final book in this series! I have absolutely loved all of the books so far and I was really excited to see how the author was going to tie everything together and she did an amazing job – I might be disappointed the series is over but I was in no way disappointed in ‘The Season Finale’.
As expected the story was well written and so enjoyable. I loved seeing characters from the past stories appear again – for me it ties the series together really well. Liz and Tony’s story was so sweet, their story did keep me guessing a lot but I did love the connection that they had.
I really cannot recommend this story and the series enough! It could be read as a standalone but I would definitely recommend that the stories are read in order. This series may be over but I am really excited to see what the author comes up with next! I shall be keeping my eyes open for future releases from her.

This really was a wonderful read. The authors’ writing was truly amazing and it really was an absolute pleasure to read. The passion and love flowed from the pages and the author’s attention to detail really made the characters and their story come alive. There was an amazing and much unexpected twist in the story that I loved! It made this story even more memorable of a read. I love Amelia and Toby – they really were fantastic, well thought out characters and I was completely captivated by their story. I loved trying to guess just what was going to happen in the story and it was a very unpredictable plot.
I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I absolutely cannot wait to pick up another of her books again in the future. YA (and other readers alike) will find themselves captivated by the author writing and I highly recommend Love Me, Dreamy!

17 Marigold Lane (Prudence Penderhaus Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore – Review by Katie Matthews

17 Marigold Lane17 Marigold Lane by R.M. Gilmore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

17 Marigold Lane was such a wonderful read, when I first read the blurb I was a little unsure as it was quite vague but there was something about it that intrigued me so I thought I would give it a go and I am so glad I did – I think it is definitely up there with one of my top reads of 2019. I loved the emotions that this story brought out in me, something that I really wasn’t expecting when I first picked up the book. The authors writing really drew me into the lives of the characters and I felt a good connection with them. I loved Prudence and reading her story, she had so many struggles to overcome and I really did feel everything that she did – I laughed and cried with her. The way in which the author portrayed Cassius’s character I think it commendable, there was probably some temptation to write about him in a stereotypical way but I could tell how much the author had thought about him and his character.
This really was a wonderful read and one that I highly recommend! This is also the first book that I have read by this author, I have no idea why but I can 100% say I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future!

Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella (Captivity Book 1) by Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk – Review by Katie Matthews

Captivity (Captivity Book 1)Captivity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Captivity was a really enjoyable novella, it may have been a short read but it absolutely was not short on anything at all! I was pulled into the story straight away and my interest was held from beginning to end. The two authors writing melded together seamlessly and it was like reading a book written by one author, their writing styles complemented each other perfectly. Shifter books are probably one of my favourite paranormal reads so this book was definitely going to be a hit with me. I loved Lorelei and Aiden’s story, I wanted to keep turning the pages just see how their story was going to end. Lorelei has a job to do but also she can’t help what happens when she finally sees Aiden after all these years!
This is just the start to this series and I cannot wait to read the next book and see what happens and where the authors take the storyline!

I have read a few books by this author and I have to say that this has to be my favourite so far! The authors amazing writing transported me completely into the world that she was describing and I was completely captivated by what I was reading. The characters were well thought out and developed – I really, really enjoyed reading about them. I really liked the modern twist on Greek mythology in my opinion I thought it made the story original. I liked that the story was told completely from Merope/Meriah’s point of view, I am usually a fan of dual POV’s but I don’t think it would have worked for this particularly story. Along with the main characters there were some great secondary characters that I enjoyed getting to know also.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend – I think it would be suited for YA’s who enjoy fantasy reads!

Ruin: The El Diablo ChroniclesRuin: The El Diablo Chronicles by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Will this author ever write a book I don’t like? I doubt it very much as Ruin was again another fantastic 5 star read! I was 100% captivated by this story – from beginning to end I couldn’t drag my eyes from what I was reading. The characters, some of whom I have already met in previous books, were just amazing to read about. The writing was edgy, gritty – exactly what I have come to expect from this extremely talented author! I will say there will be some triggers in this story for some readers which the author is open about but I was really impressed with how she wrote about them, they weren’t over dramatized. The twists and turns in the story were extremely unexpected at times – I absolutely loved this!! My emotions were everywhere whilst reading this book; I went from anger to heartbreak in a matter of pages! I really found a connection with Tallie, she was such a deep character with a past which was difficult and I really found that I wanted to read more about her as the story went on.
Ruin was a fantastic 5 star read and one I would highly recommend. It could be read as a standalone but I absolutely would recommend the Twisted Hearts Love Series also.

Proper ImpulseProper Impulse by Zeia Jameson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ooohhh I do love a good enemies to lovers romance and Proper Impulse was a brilliant example of that! I loved the story from the very beginning and I absolutely LOVED Milo! There was just something about him, he had this sexy, serious side to him – he was very professional in his job role and I think that kind of carried over into his personal life too! Juniper on the other hand was the opposite to him, very free spirited but with a wonderful stubborn streak! She is more than happy to break the rules if she feels it’s needed! I knew that as soon as these two met there would be an attraction but I also knew sparks would fly!

I didn’t think I could love this series anymore and then this book arrives – and what an absolutely amazing read it was! The storyline, the characters and the writing just made this book a fantastic 5 star book in my opinion – it’s a book I couldn’t put down at all. Fitz and Bella were so amazing to read about – they just had something about them that drew me into them straight away. Bound continues right where we left off in book 1 – Shattered – and it was everything I wanted from the continuation of Jenny and Brian’s story and so much more! Again I was completely captivated from beginning to end – there were some great twists and turns and lots of edge of my seat moments. I really liked how Jenny and Brian’s relationship was put to the test with everything that happens in this story and I have to say the author did an amazing job with Jenny’s story in particular – I could really feel the inner turmoil that she felt even though from the outside she exuded confidence and strength. This was definitely helped by the author writing the book from dual points of view.
I absolutely adore this couple! I love reading about them and I am so glad that there is another book after this one – I cannot wait to read it!

I honestly cannot get enough of this series and this author! I have loved every single book that I have read by her and I loved Two Hearts Under Fire just as much as the others. I loved the suspense that ran through this story as well as the romance that I always love! Russ and Claire’s story was one that I completely fell in love with. There is one thing (well one of the many things I love about Ms Ferguson) with this author she creates the most relatable and realistic characters ever. I have not read one of her books yet where I haven’t fell in love with the main (and secondary) characters – I may have my favourites but I always fall for them all straight away!
In this book I have to say I loved the uncertainty of which character it was that was actually being targeted! I was kept guessing along with the characters the whole way through!

I don’t even bother reading the blurbs for the books by this author now because I think she is so wonderful and talented I know I am going to enjoy whatever it is she has written. Rule Breaker was, as expected, a fantastic 5 star read! I loved going in blind as I didn’t have a clue what was going to happen. I loved Athena and Warren; they were such a wonderful couple to read about. She was feisty, independent and he was just adorable and loved Athena so much! I should know by now to expect the unexpected with regards to storyline and characters with Ms Alexander! I loved the way she took the story and how the characters evolved from beginning to end. There were certainly some very hot and steamy encounters along the way between the characters involved! Along with that were some great twists and turns! Whilst I might not always agree with some of the lifestyles this author chooses to write about I can never, ever fault her amazing story telling ability and her talent in drawing you into the lives of her characters thus enabling you to see things from a variety of perspectives!

I have really been looking forward to reading this third book in the Moore Family Saga and it absolutely did not disappoint at all. I said at the end of the second book that I was looking forward to finding out more about Miles and I got exactly what I wanted and much more! Such and intriguing and talented character I was completely captivated by his story. Some of the scenes between him and Bella were so wonderful to read, passionate yet emotional at the same time. They kind of evolved together as the story went on and I felt that they had such a deep and meaningful connection – one that I really could feel. I have to say I think that it’s possible this is my favourite book out of the series, which is saying something because of how much I loved the first two!!
The authors writing I felt in this story was just amazing, she tied everything together beautifully, bringing older characters back into the story and also introducing new ones. The Girls Across The Bay (Knox and Sheppard, #1)The Girls Across The Bay by Emerald O’Brien
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Girls Across the Bay was a great read from a new to me author! I will admit that it did take me a little time to get into the story and it was slower in parts than others but I will still on the edge of seat at times and I wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen. I won’t say that this was an easy read; I read it slower than I would normally just so I could fully understand what was going on but the storyline was really strong in my opinion. I liked that the author had chosen to write from multiple points of view, it really enabled me to understand what the characters were thinking and why they did what they did.
I will be looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series; I can definitely see it getting better and better! Overall a decent 4 star read that I would recommend!
