The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano – Review by Katie Matthews

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale SeriesThe Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thought that The Gauntlet was a fantastic read, it may have been a shorter read but it was packed full of wonderful characters, action and fantasy! I love how original the storyline was – it really captured my attention from the very beginning. The authors’ writing was really easy to read and although as mentioned before it is a shorter than average story it didn’t feel rushed and I definitely didn’t feel like I was missing anything. The pace and flow were perfect. The author’s attention to detail was amazing and this meant that the world building for the story was excellent and I adored her character building – they all developed well over the story.
I am really excited to see where the author is going to take this series, I have a feeling it is going to be an amazing one! I can’t wait for the next book to be released!

Irresistible Heroes – Heroes of Your Heart by Various Authors – Review by Katie Matthews

IRRESISTIBLE HEROESIRRESISTIBLE HEROES by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so excited to see the release of this anthology it contained stories from some of my favourite authors and also a couple of new to me ones also. All of the stories were 5 star reads for me, they were all fantastic to read and with wonderful characters who I instantly fell in love with. There is definitely something for everybody in this anthology!
One of my absolute favourites from this collection was Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes by Tamara Ferguson. I have read so many books by this author so I had to dive straight in to this one first and as usual she didn’t disappoint! I absolutely adore her writing and the characters she creates. There always such a great balance of romance, suspense and a little mystery! She is a fantastic author! I loved Samantha and Ben! I just adored them both together and separately.
Another story that I really enjoyed was Johnny’s Girl by Cynthia Cooke! Ms Cooke was a new to me author so I really enjoyed getting to know her writing style and the story captured my interest straight away!
This anthology really was a wonderful read and I highly recommend it to other readers!

The Fish that Climbed a Tree by Kevin Ansbro – Review by Katie Matthews

The Fish That Climbed a TreeThe Fish That Climbed a Tree by Kevin Ansbro
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really interesting book to read – I have to admit it probably has one of the least attractive front covers I’ve ever seen however I’m also one of those readers that knows not to judge a book by its cover and I was intrigued by the blurb so I thought I would give the book a go. My interest was captured straight away with the unique storyline and equally as unique characters. Henry’s story was really interesting to read and the author did a great job with making sure he was a likeable and realistic character. The author’s writing was flawless and I found that I was very engaged in what I was reading. This was a great introduction to this new author for me.
I would absolutely recommend this book to other readers, it is well written with fantastic characters!

Act II. Playing with Fire (Moore Family Saga Book 2) by Michele Sims – Review by Katie Matthews

Act II. Playing with Fire (Moore Family Saga, #2)Act II. Playing with Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After loving book 1 in the series I was really excited to get started on book 2 and it didn’t disappoint at all! I loved the twists that the story took and I still love Cade and Lecia! The story has a great balance of romance and suspense, I was definitely left guessing a number of times throughout the book and again like with book 1 it definitely left me wanting more! I really enjoyed getting to know Miles more in this story as he begins to grow up – his character is really interesting!! I loved the sense of family in this instalment and just how important it can be to have the support of your family at times.
The authors writing is absolutely fantastic, her attention to detail makes the story come alive and I was completely hooked from beginning to end! I cannot wait for the next book in the series to continue this journey with these extraordinary characters!

Jumping the Shark (Paranormal Talent Agency, #5) by Heather Silvio – Review by Katie Matthews

Jumping the Shark (Paranormal Talent Agency, #5)Jumping the Shark by Heather Silvio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really am enjoying this series and I think that this is my favourite book so far! I love how original the stories are, each one connected but also so different. The author’s writing is flawless and an absolute pleasure to read. Her storylines are imaginative and her characters creative and realistic.
In book 5 we see Barbara, a demon and very entertaining character team up with Liam, an angel to try and find out what is going on and clear her name! I really liked Barbara and Liam, I thought they worked well together and had a great amount of chemistry! I still love that hint in the background of these stories that something extra exciting is going to be coming along soon and because of this I would definitely recommend that the stories are read in order! They are all short entertaining reads so any reader would not be disappointed!
I am very excited to see where the author takes the next book!!

Queen of the Warrior Bees (Natural Forces Book 1) by Jean Gill – Review by Katie Matthews

Queen of the Warrior Bees (Natural Forces #1)Queen of the Warrior Bees by Jean Gill
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I took a step out of my comfort zone when I decided to give this book a read and overall I enjoyed it. It did take me a little time to get into and there were times when I wasn’t completely sure it was the book for me but I persevered and I’m glad I did. I think there is definitely more to the book than the blurb leads you to believe, the author’s detailed writing was good (however a little too much at times) and the story did have a good pace and flow to it. One of the things I did like about the book was how original and unpredictable it was and I certainly had to think about what I was reading to find the deeper meaning. The main character wasn’t quite what I was expecting and it took me a while to understand her however as the story went on I began to see the direction the author was trying to take her in.
Overall an interesting read and would definitely recommend it to readers who are looking for something a little different to try out.

Kingdom of War (Kingdom Journals Volume 4) by Tricia Copeland – Review by Katie Matthews

Kingdom of WarKingdom of War by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, wow, wow!!! This was an absolutely amazing read! It was thrilling, exciting, page turning – one of my absolute favourites of 2019 and definitely my favourite by this author so far! I read this book in one sitting because I honestly could not put it down and I don’t think I could have even if I had tried! I was completely captivated by the words that were jumping off the pages, the twists and turns, the amazing characters and a storyline that was just absorbing. I have read other books in the series but not read them in order – I had no problems reading this as a standalone but believe me it will leave you wanting more! Hunter’s story was amazing I absolutely fell in love with him. He had such an internal struggle going on and I felt like that made me like him even more.
I honestly cannot put into words how much I loved this story, I wish I could start all over again – it will definitely be on my re-read list and not many books make it onto that!! A fantastic 5 star ending to this series! I look forward to more from this author in the future!

Behind Blue Eyes (Stockholm Murders Book 1) by CS Duffy – Review by Katie Matthews

Behind Blue Eyes (Stockholm Murders Book 1)Behind Blue Eyes by C.S. Duffy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love finding a new author’s books to love and I think I have definitely found that with C.S. Duffy! I wasn’t sure what to expect with Behind Blue Eyes, it’s not my usual kind of read but there was just something about the blurb that made me want to pick it up and I am so glad that I did! I found the story and the characters really captivating and I really enjoyed reading a story set in completely different country to what I have read previously. The pace and flow of the story was great, I read it in one sitting and I was actually a little disappointed when I finished. Behind Blue Eyes is one of those stories where you are so engrossed that you feel like you are trying to solve what is going on along with the characters! I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from this author and series in the future! A great 4 star read that I highly recommend!

Murder Creek by Jane Suen – Review by Katie Matthews

Murder CreekMurder Creek by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yet again another wonderful read by this author! She never fails to entertain me with her writing and I love that I never really know what I’m going to get when I read one of her books, usually they are very thought-provoking and whilst I didn’t really get that with Murder Creek I still got an extremely well written and entertaining unpredictable read. I think the main character took a little time to get used to but once I did I thought she was great. She was definitely determined to find out what had happened to Lacey! I loved how Ms Suen kept me guessing all the way through the story and I almost felt like I was right there with Eve collecting clues and trying to find out what had happened. As a reader I felt very engaged with the storyline.
I 100% recommend this exciting read and I look forward to more from this author again in the future.

Bowled: Facing the Yorker of Love (To Love a Sportsman Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Katie Matthews

Bowled (To Love a Sportsman Book 1)Bowled by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bowled was a lovely, sweet romance story that I thoroughly enjoyed! I have read stories by this author previously so I was looking forward to reading more from her again and I wasn’t disappointed. The story had the pace and flow that I have come to love from this author as well as wonderful characters who are both likeable and realistic. It never takes me long at all to become absorbed in what I am reading from Ms Fernandes. I liked that both of the characters had their own stories to tell, both have been burned in the past and I knew as soon as that first initial contact was made, albeit with a pretty nasty tweet, these two would be perfect for each other! They did frustrate me at times but I couldn’t help but find myself rooting for them the whole way through.
Bowled was a really enjoyable story that I would definitely recommend to other readers! As always I will be looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

The Brass Compass: A Novel by Ellen Butler – Review by Katie Matthews

The Brass CompassThe Brass Compass by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, I like historical reads but not usually in this time period however I thought it was a really good read. The author’s writing was very detailed, sometimes this did make affect the pace of the story but I did appreciate the level of detail that she included. I liked how she took a real life time period but made it into a fiction story! The characters were well thought out and had a realistic feel to them. Lily was a great female lead, strong and independent. There was some great action in the story and certainly some nail biting moments as I waited to see what was going to happen and how the story would unfold.
The Brass Compass was a fantastic read and one that I highly recommend! I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from Ms Butler again in the future!

Too Hot to Handle (The Catch Series Book 3) by Avery Scott – Review by Katie Matthews

Too Hot to Handle (The Catch, Book 3)Too Hot to Handle by Avery Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Too Hot to Handle was a brilliant read by Avery Scott. This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author so I was hoping I would enjoy it as much as I did the first and I absolutely did! As soon as I started reading I knew that this book was going to be a hit with me, the characters were likeable and the storyline flowed really well, it was a really easy and enjoyable story to read. There was some humour, some romance and an extremely hot firefighter – what’s not to love about this book?!? I love Georgia, I thought that she was a great female lead to read about and I loved Tony!! The two together made for a very entertaining read! I am so looking forward to the next book in the series! I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 (Lila Casey Series)Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 by J. Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book! The cover isn’t much to look at in all honesty but the story was a great read! I found I was easily hooked in to what was going on and I read it in one sitting. It was a good opening book to this series and I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes it! I liked that I had to take a bit of time to get to know and understand the main character Lila; she definitely matured as the story progressed.
The author brought a little bit of humour to the story which I wasn’t expecting but really enjoyed! The pace and flow of the story was really good and I found it very easy to read – the authors attention to detail was also great. I could imagine YA and paranormal romance readers really enjoying this story.
I am definitely really looking forward to reading more from this series and seeing how the characters develop even more!

The Matchmaker’s Match (Man’s Best Friend Book 3) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Katie Matthews

The Matchmaker's Match (Man's Best Friend, #3)The Matchmaker’s Match by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Matchmaker’s Match was a really nice romantic read! It was well written and whilst it is the third book in the series it is perfectly fine to read as a standalone! It has definitely made me want to read the others in the series too! Because I found the story so easy to read I read it quite quickly. I really liked the characters and thought that they were likeable and relatable! I liked that the characters path to a HAE wasn’t all plain sailing, there were some unexpected twists and turns which made the story a little less predictable than I thought it was going to be! There were a few times where I really felt a huge connection to Meredith and I think although detailed the author approached everything really respectfully.
Overall I thought that this was a really lovely read and I would recommend it to other readers! I look forward to reading more from Ms Flockton again in the future!

Never Let Me Go (Bayou Devils MC Book 6) by A.M. Myers – Review by Katie Matthews

Never Let Me Go (Bayou Devils MC #6)Never Let Me Go by A.M. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I honestly absolutely LOVE this author! I have read so many of her books now that when she releases a new one I don’t even bother to read the blurb as I know that it’s going to be a fantastic read and again I wasn’t disappointed with Never Let Me Go! I was hooked by the end of page one and I didn’t put the book (or kindle) down until I had finished. The pace and flow of her stories just make them so easy to read and I was just completely lost in what was going on in this latest instalment in the Bayou Devils series! It may be book 6 but the series just keeps getting better and better! I loved Juliette and Sawyer’s story and I liked that it was a little different from others in the series! Juliette’s story was really interesting to read about and I felt like I was right there with her at times. Sawyer was everything I wanted in the male lead! I loved him and together they had such a great intense yet genuine chemistry!
I loved this story and would absolutely recommend it! I cannot wait to read more from this author again in the future!

The Last Dance was a really nice read and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven’t read anything by this author previously and I thought that she had a nice writing style that had my attention from the very beginning. The storyline was original and refreshing to read. I also really enjoyed the author’s use of descriptive language; I could really imagine some of the places she was describing. The action was enough in the story to keep my interest throughout and I thought that the characters were well developed and likeable, especially Sorrel. I loved that the author kept me guessing all the way through the story!

Return (Rewind #2)Return by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great read from this author! I really enjoyed the first book in the series so I was looking forward to reading the second and it didn’t disappoint at all. I think I may have enjoyed this one a little more than the first, I found a deeper connection with the characters and I really found myself dragged into Raphael’s story. The way the author wrote about him just really had my attention from the very beginning. I never deny that I am not really a fan of m/m stories so whilst some of the content wasn’t what I like to read about I cannot fault the way in which the story was written and I would much rather read a well written story with content I’m not overly keen on than a boring story with content I enjoy.
A beautiful, emotionally charged story with lovely characters that you can’t help but like! I look forward to more from this author again in the future.

Hoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman – Review by Katie Matthews

Hoosier DadHoosier Dad by Elizabeth Seckman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hoosier Dad was a really enjoyable read. It is one of those stories that is just really easy to read and I found myself easily dragged into what I was reading and the story of Sarah and Rich. There was a good level of drama running throughout the story which I think was fuelled by the small town gossiping and a couple of secondary characters! The main characters were really likeable and they certainly had a good amount of chemistry, I think I anticipated a little more romance however I think how they interacted with each other did fit in with their past relationship.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I don’t think it will be the last. I liked the simplicity of the story it was nice to read a storyline that wasn’t overly complex. It was a great contemporary romance that I would definitely recommend!

Girl Trap was another enjoyable read from Cynthia Hamilton. I really like this authors writing style, I find that I am easily pulled into her stories, they have a great flow and pace and the characters are really interesting to read about. I really like Madeline, I feel like I am right there with her in the story at times working alongside her trying to solve the cases that she has. I think that her and Mike make a great team, they both work hard and won’t give in until they have solved what they need to. I enjoyed seeing them work separately as well as together in this story! There were some good twists and turns in this story, a good amount of suspense and mystery running throughout the story that had me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.

Rewind (Rewind #1)Rewind by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rewind was a really interesting read. It had a really lovely storyline to it, I really liked the characters and I think the author explored something different with them also which I really enjoyed. It was nice to read about different characters and their lifestyles. I can’t say that I connected with any of the characters in particular but I certainly liked reading about them. I’m not usually a fan of m/m stories but Florian and Enzo were really nice, genuine characters to read about – I definitely felt for Florian during those first few chapters told from his POV. I really liked Enzo and it was great that the author did explore something different for his character it made him seem so much more real. I think he was my favourite character in the story, there was just something about him – I really admired the strength he had to overcome what happened to him.
As the author’s debut novel I was really impressed and I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

Every time I pick up a book by this author I know I am in for a brilliant, action packed read and as I expected Alex was no exception. I always find that I am completely captivated by what I am reading, her storylines are exciting and I get sucked into the characters’ lives easily. There was action from the very beginning of this story and straight away I knew I was going to love the characters, Alex and Evelyn.
Evelyn (Siren) was a fantastic character to read about, full of sass and independence everything I love in a leading female character and I’m pretty sure I fell in love with Alex straight away! He was very loyal to his ‘brothers’ and his job but also as soon as he came face to face with Siren he knew what he had to do!
Their story really was a pleasure to read about and I loved seeing characters from the previous series appear too!
Another fantastic 5 star read from Ms Wade – I am looking forward to her next book already!

The Arrangement Duet Box SetThe Arrangement Duet Box Set by Madison Quinn

The Arrangement Duet is a box set including two wonderful reads that I loved every second of. When I first read the blurb for both books I did think that I had made my mind up about how the story would go so I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong! I loved the slow burn feel to the story and the characters Nicholas and Kenzie had an amazing amount of chemistry that did feel genuine. I loved that they both had their own past that they needed to work on and I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through both stories. The two characters may have come together because of an arrangement but it didn’t take long to see that there was going to be so much more to their story than this.
I loved both of these stories – I am really looking forward to reading more from Ms Quinn again in the future! Both stories were well written and I highly recommend this 5 star box set!

Steele Resolve (The Hawke Family Book 6) by Author Gwyn McNamee – Review by Katie Matthews

Steele Resolve (Hawke Family #6)Steele Resolve by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think my heart may be officially broken! This series has been my all-time favourite ever written by an author I have absolutely come to adore! I will admit I am not a fan of m/m stories but I needed to read Steele Resolve because I knew I was going to finally find out about Luca! The book was very cleverly written running alongside timewise a previous on in the series. The dual POV meant I was fully able to understand the characters and their most inner thoughts and feelings – this meant in true Ms McNamee style some wonderful twists and turns appeared! The whole series was tied together with this story and I really was so sad when I realised that this was actually over. Byron and Luca’s story was so intense that I forgot that I was reading a m/m story after all love is love! Their story was truly captivating and I loved every second of it.
From the moment I read Savage Collision (book 1) I knew I had found an author to love and a series that would be amazing to read and it absolutely has been. That still remains one of my favourite books ever.
The Hawke Family series has truly been outstanding and I cannot recommend the books enough. Steele Resolve was the perfect final book and it deserves the 5 stars I give it!

When I first started this series I remember thinking that I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, it’s not my usual genre to read but I really liked the sound of the blurb so I thought I would give it a go and now here I am on book 4 and I have absolutely loved it! Ms Mackie has introduced me to a new genre that I am really enjoying. Her writing is so exciting to read and I love that her books are so unpredictable.
I’m not sure the characters are ones that I particularly connect with but the stories are so interesting to read about I am hooked from the very beginning. Saint Augustina was a great character to read about and I think there is a little more to her than there first seems. She may be a cyber spy but she had more of a human feel than other characters.
This was a richly detailed story that I highly recommend!

What an AMAZING read!! I was drawn in from the very first word and I didn’t put the book down until I had devoured it entirely. I have really enjoyed this series so far but the author really took it to another level with this third book. I loved all the non-stop action and the twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and my eyes glued to the pages, pages that I couldn’t turn fast enough. I loved Dianna and Anders and seeing them work together to solve the case in this story. The authors writing is excellent, the pace and flow of the story are perfect for the story. Cult is one of those stories that you actually cannot wait to read again, which for me doesn’t happen very often.
