Squall Line (The Inland Seas Series Book One) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Katie Matthews

Squall Line (The Inland Seas Series Book 1)Squall Line by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love it when authors take a step out of their writing comfort zone and write something different and I absolutely take my hat off to Ms McNamee because she absolutely nailed this story!! I have read every book that she has written so far so I was really excited to see if she could keep my interest with a new genre and she absolutely did and more! I was completely hooked from beginning to end – in fact it is one of those books that you can’t wait to read again and it isn’t very often that I read a book more than once!
I loved War and Grace! They were both just totally amazing to read about! Both strong and independent in their own right – almost like an alpha male vs an alpha female! I loved the interaction between them and also the obvious attraction!!
I can tell that this is going to be an amazing series and I cannot wait for the next book to be released!!

Rage (The Marcy Series Book 1) by Linda Burson – Review by Katie Matthews

Rage (The Marcy Series, #1)Rage by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read this series out of order but even so I have thoroughly enjoyed the books that I have read however it was really nice to see where the story of Marcy started! Again as with the other books I have read by Ms Burson it was full of action and kept my interest from beginning to end. It was really interesting to see how the author has improved over the books, not that this one was bad, far from it, but you could see how her writing had moved on with each story.
I really like Marcy she is such a great character to read about. She is quite a complex character that you really do have to get to know and understand.
As I expected there were some great twists and turns and even though I have read later books in the series there were still some things that surprised me!!
I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Drawing Bloodlines (The Princeton Allegiant Series Book 1) by Deborah Garland – Review by Katie Matthews

Drawing BloodlinesDrawing Bloodlines by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Drawing Bloodlines was a fantastic 5 star read! I was completely hooked from beginning to end. This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author, I absolutely loved her Darling cove series so when I saw that she has a new series coming out that was different I was really excited to start it and I was not disappointed at all! I can already tell that this is going to be a fantastic series.
The characters in the story were amazing to read about! Alex was a hot vampire who I LOVED!! I really liked that he wasn’t what I expected, I kind of imagined him to be the normal vampire in a paranormal romance but he wasn’t so it was a pleasant surprise! Elizabeth was great too! I loved the two of them together; they had an amazing and intense chemistry!
I loved the storyline and all of the twists and turns! This is definitely a story that I would highly recommend! I am really excited to read the next book in this series!!!

Death and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie – Review by Katie Matthews

Death and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil SeriesDeath and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book that I have read by this author and again I really enjoyed it. Although part of a series this book had more of a standalone feel than the others so I think it could be easily read without reading the first two books however I would highly recommend those also!
The authors writing is very good, she knows how to capture your interest straight away. The storyline was strong and the characters were interesting to read about. I liked that the story was a little different to what I was expecting; it’s always nice when a story isn’t predictable. It was nice to see characters from the previous two books crossover into this one; it did help tie the series together in my opinion. Margaret and Elias were very interesting characters and definitely not what I was expecting! I enjoyed following their story and all the twists and turns that came with it.
Another wonderful read from Ms Mackie and one that I highly recommend! I look forward to reading more from her again in the future!

The Vampire Queen (Wheel of Crowns Book 3) by Brandi Elledge – Review by Katie Matthews

The Vampire Queen (Wheel of Crowns Book 3)The Vampire Queen by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been eagerly waiting to read the third instalment to this series and I was not disappointed at all! Again it was another amazing 5 star read and one that I loved reading from beginning to end.
I adored Tandi – she was a fantastic character. She made me laugh and I wasn’t expecting that from a paranormal story, I loved the fact that she wasn’t very good at being a vampire! I loved the forbidden kind of romance feel to the story; it almost felt a little fairy tale like in parts which I LOVED!! The Prince of Vampires – oh my gosh was he hot or what? Even I wanted to be a vampire!! I loved the attraction between them and the storyline that came from this attraction! I loved the twists and turns in the story – absolutely fantastic read!
I thought that book 2 was my favourite in the series but now I cannot make up my mind between that one and this book! This really was a fantastic read and I cannot recommend it highly enough! I think it’s safe to say Ms Elledge is definitely one of authors to go to for great paranormal reads and I cannot wait to read more form her again in the future.

That’s a Wrap (Paranormal Talent Agency Book 3) by Heather Silvio – Review by Katie Matthews

That's a Wrap (Paranormal Talent Agency, #3)That’s a Wrap by Heather Silvio
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

That’s a Wrap was another entertaining 4 star read by Heather Silvio. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books in this series, they are all different with new lead characters but we also see characters from previous stories still pop up too. This was a quick read but there was nothing missing at all. I’ve not read about a nixie before, in fact I had no idea what one was so I loved that this was something completely new to me! I loved Mia! I thought that she was a great character! I really enjoyed reading about her and I absolutely adored her and Jacob! They had a great chemistry between them! I was glued to this story throughout and it made me smile so many times. I really have found these stories to be really refreshing and easy to read! I really hope that there is more to come from this author in the future – I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for any new releases from her!

Wild Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel by India Kells – Review by Katie Matthews

Wild BastardWild Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love, love, LOVED this story!! This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author and I absolutely love her writing. Her stories are always exciting to read and always have that spicy romance to them and Wild Bastard was no exception. From beginning to end I was completely hooked on the story and I fell in love with the characters straight away.
Isabel was a great female lead – she was strong, independent with a great stubborn side to her! She was my perfect leading lady! I loved Kai as well and I thought that he and Isabel were great together! I really loved finally getting to read their story! It was everything I wanted and more!
I love a second chance romance story and I really was rooting for these two the whole way through! If you haven’t read any of the books in this series then I highly recommend reading them however this one could be enjoyed as a standalone also.
I cannot wait to read more from Ms Kells in the future she is a wonderful author and I love reading her work.

The Queen of Witches (Wheel of Crowns Book 2) by Brandi Elledge – Review by Katie Matthews

The Queen of Witches (Wheel of Crowns Book 2)The Queen of Witches by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed book 1 in this series so I was really looking forward to jumping in to book 2 and I wasn’t disappointed at all. It still had everything I loved from book 1, the great storyline, the great writing style, an interesting plot and great characters – in fact I think I liked this book ever so slightly more than the first. It was a fast paced read that was full of action that definitely had me turning the pages as quick as I could just so I could find out what was going to happen next. Again the richly described scenery meant I felt like I was right there in the story with the characters.
I really liked Charlie and felt a great connection with her straight away. This author definitely knows how to create fantastic female leads that are a pleasure to read about. The attraction between Charlie and Jamison was undeniable and I enjoyed following their story.
I am REALLY looking forward to reading the third book in this series! I just know it’s going to be just as good as books 1 and 2!

The Werewolf Queen (Wheel of Crowns Book 1)The Werewolf Queen by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Werewolf Queen is the first book that I have read by this author and it was a fantastic read. I was completely captivated by the original storyline that she had created. The pace and flow of the story was excellent, it made the book easy to read and follow. The rich detail that the author used really made me feel connected with the story and the world that she had built for her characters.
I really liked the characters in the story, Sadie was great and I enjoyed reading about her. I was really rooting for her especially with everything that seemed to be against her.
I thought that this was a great start to the series and I am really looking forward to seeing how it develops!
Readers who enjoy paranormal stories would not be disappointed with this book and I highly recommend it.

Misfortune of Vision (Druid’s Brooch Book 4) by Christy Nicholas – Review by Katie Matthews

Misfortune of Vision (Druid's Brooch #4)Misfortune of Vision by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another wonderful 4 star story in this series and still the author has me captivated by her writing. She has created such an interesting and magical world and her descriptive language really allows me to fully envisage what I am reading. I love Ireland, I think it is a beautiful country and the author relay does it justice with how she has captured it in her writing.
I really liked the characters in the story, they were quite different to what I have read about before and I think that made me like them even more. I am really enjoying following their story. They are very imaginative characters and the author has done an amazing job with them. Orlagh’s personality in particular really stood out for me in this book. These books can be read as standalones but I would highly recommend reading them in order for a better reading experience!
A wonderful addition to this series and I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8) by Lara Ward Cosio – Review by Katie Matthews

Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8)Problematic Love by Lara Ward Cosio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Danny Boy is one of those characters who throughout this whole series has intrigued me, he has definitely had his ups and downs, and some of those downs were particularly low but what I love about him is how he has come through everything and I loved that we got to find out more about him in the second part to his story. The author really has delved into some dark situations with her characters and I do find that I am hanging on her every word, I truly feel like I am living everything with them. The depth of her writing is amazing. I was so excited to catch up with other characters from previous stories too and see what is happening in their lives.
I really don’t want to spoil the story for others but I have to say I was so willing Danny and Amelia to find a way to make their relationship work and for Danny to realise that recovering addicts do deserve a second chance and do deserve a chance at love. There were some very emotional times in the story and some heart-breaking moments which had me reaching for the tissues. This really was an amazing conclusion to Danny Boys troubled life and story.
From book 1 to book 8 I have fallen in love with these characters and I absolutely adore this author. She has written some amazing stories about some wonderful, albeit broken at times, characters who I have truly taken into my heart. I cannot recommend this series enough and I will always look forward to reading more from Lara Ward Cosio in the future!

Tainted Saint (Hawke Family #5)Tainted Saint by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am just in awe of this author I really am, I have read every single book that she has written and still I am completely hooked on her writing. I know that when I pick up a book by her I am not putting it down until I have finished! Whilst Savage Collision will always be my all-time favourite Tainted Saint is right up there with it! I loved Saint! He’s appeared in previous books and I was so excited to see him get his own story along with Caroline! They were just SO perfect for each other! The chemistry between them just sizzled and that very first scene between them – oh my gosh talk about scorching hot!!!
The Luca saga continues and wow does it throw up some very unexpected twists and turns! I know I’m probably not meant to like him but I can’t help it! There is something about him!! And the ending!!! I cannot wait for the next book in the series I need to know what is going to happen!! I think to fully understand what is going on in the story and the underlying back story that is continuing this series is best read in order – trust me you will not be disappointed with any of the stories!

Operation Boyfriend by Molly Zenk – Review by Katie Matthews

Operation BoyfriendOperation Boyfriend by Molly Zenk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Operation Boyfriend was a nice new adult romance read and one that I really enjoyed. When I first read the blurb I did think that the story was going to be a little predictable so I was very pleasantly surprised when it had me guessing a few times! I really liked Glynnis and can imagine many people can relate to some of the things she went through, she definitely had some bad luck when it came to relationships. I could really feel the dilemma she faced with both Corin and Daniel. I liked the twists that the author threw in to the story they definitely made me stop and think at times. The author’s easy writing style meant that I easily become absorbed into Glynnis life and I really did want her to find someone as nice as she was and I felt that she really deserved to be happy.
Overall a good 4 star read and one that I would recommend to other readers. This is also the first book that I have read by this author and I would like to read more from her again in the future.

Run to the Sea was a wonderful read by K G Fletcher and one that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. I really love this author and all of the books that I have read by her so far have all been wonderful reads. She has a writing style that is easy to read and her stories flow really well. She creates some amazing characters and Thomas and Emeline were no exceptions! I love a second chance romance and I absolutely adored watching these two characters come back together again and I was rooting for them to fall in love from the start! There were a few obstacles in their way but their story really had me hooked and I really grew to love then over their journey together. There were also some good supporting characters and I am really looking forward to reading more about them in the next book in the series!

Next Door Knight (Man’s Best Friend Book 2) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Katie Matthews

Next Door Knight (Man's Best Friend #2)Next Door Knight by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Next Door Knight was an enjoyable read and the first that I have read by this author. It didn’t take me long to get into the story and my interest was kept throughout. It took me a little time to connect with the characters but by the end I had found the connection that I was looking for. I definitely could feel the emotions coming from the characters especially Caleb, the author did a really good job in making sure that I had empathy as a reader for the things that Caleb had experienced in his life and the way he was feeling now. I really admired Kerry, she was a strong person who was also caring and compassionate and her family is very important to her. I love reading stories about therapy dogs I think they are so amazing and I am in awe of the things they can do and the help that they can give people, I adore them!
Overall a good read that I would definitely recommend and I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Hawke (Men of Syn Book 1) by Anise Storm – Review by Katie Matthews

Hawke (Men of Syn Book 1)Hawke by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It’s been a while since I read a story with a hot and sexy dominant as the main character but I definitely got it in Hawke!! I was captivated by this book from the very beginning until the end. The storyline was extremely well thought out and flowed beautifully. I loved Charlotte and Hawke and the depth that their relationship grew to, I loved everything about them. There were some good twists and turns in the story and I really felt like I knew the characters well. The BDSM part of the story is pretty hard core and whilst personally I’m not one for this lifestyle it is only a story at the end of the day and the author did do an amazing job when writing the scenes. There are also some other more sensitive topics and triggers in the story and I have to say I only have praise for the author and the way in which this book is written. I think it is probably one of the best books that I have read so far this year.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I absolutely will be reading more from her – I was hooked from the moment I read the blurb and I cannot recommend it enough to other readers!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book that I have enjoyed by this author, I always find it so easy to get into the stories that she writes and the characters are always enjoyable to read about. Second chance romance stories are always one I like to read about, I love to see people who have a genuine connection find each other again and then throw in the ‘forbidden relationship’ part to it too and I am in book heaven! Hate to Love You was exactly what I wanted from a story in this genre! I love Cole and Sam and I was rooting for them the whole way through. There were some quite emotional parts to this book that the author really wrote about well and I felt like I knew these characters really well by the end of the story.
I really did enjoy this story and would highly recommend it to other readers. I will also be looking forward to reading more from Ms Ryan again in the future!!

Heart of Stone – Emery & Jackson was a really nice contemporary romance story and one that I really enjoyed. This is also the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed their writing style, the book was easy to read and the characters were easy to relate to.
I really liked Emery and Jackson as characters, they were both really nice and I really felt for Emery. I could see how much Jackson liked her but she had been so hurt in the past that I could tell it was going to take a lot for her to let him in. There were some good twists to the story and some surprising turns that I didn’t see coming – I was however rooting for Emery and Jackson the whole way through the story. Alongside these two were some great supporting secondary characters who really did add something extra to the story!

I honestly absolutely adore this author! Her writing never fails to grab my attention from the very first word. I have read so many of her books now and have loved every single one of them and Demon’s Angel is no exception. It is the second book in the Colorado Chapter of the Satan’s Devils MC series which is shaping up to be one amazing 5 star series already!
I think I may be a little bit in love with Demon! He is everything I want the president of an MC to be and more! He was the strong, sexy, alpha male type of character who definitely lights up the pages with his heat and intensity!
I love Violet too; she was a strong, independent person who I really felt a connection with. I was willing her and Demon to find each other and be together right from the very beginning.
I loved the romance and suspense that ran throughout this story, Ms Mellett certainly knows how to keep me on the edge of my seat during her stories! I just cannot get enough of her wonderful writing and stories and I am definitely looking forward to more to come from this series!!

This story was such an amazing read! And what a wonderful introduction to Mary B Moore as an author! I was hooked from beginning to end and found it really difficult to find a place where I could actually put the book down so I could actually do some real life things! I think I fell in love with Levi as soon as I started reading about him! He may have just been the perfect guy to read about and then there was Noah! Two perfect brothers!!

Wild Heart was a great read and a wonderful introduction to a new to me author also. I thought that the story was entertaining and engaging. There was romance, mystery and action all rolled into one story. I really enjoyed reading about Faith and Cole, they were both great characters, I particularly liked Faith – I thought that she was strong, independent and it was nice to find a female lead with these qualities! She wasn’t one to be fawning over man all the time! Both characters were relatable, the author made them feel very real – something I love in a book! Man with the Mafia was a fantastic read, I love a good mafia romance story and this was definitely one of the best that I have read. I think I was probably already hooked on the story before I had even started, the burb was intriguing and I really loved the front cover, which is something I don’t usually take much notice of. The author had a really engaging writing style which meant I really did feel like I was part of the story. The characters were well thought out. I really liked Deirdre, she was stronger than she thought and she had a great feisty side to her. Vincent was exactly what I hoped he would be and more! I think I fell in love with him straight away. I loved the connection and chemistry that the two of them had and I loved the way the author intricately woven unknown connection between Deirdre and Vincent into the story that constantly had me guessing!

Secure DesireSecure Desire by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first read the blurb for this book it sounded like a book I would really enjoy, I love a Navy SEAL story, there is just something about these characters and overall I enjoyed what I read. I will say that it is a book that is quite complex in its storyline so I wouldn’t say it was an easy read, I did have to re-read the beginning so I could fully understand what was going on but once I settled into the story it picked up in my opinion. There were quite a few things going on so I think you have to be prepared to be able to concentrate on what you are reading, it isn’t a book you can easily dip in and out of. The characters were good, they were well thought out and planned and the authors writing was pretty detailed, there was a good mystery running through the story which definitely had me keep turning the pages to find out what was going to happen. I don’t think there was as much romance in the story as I anticipated but it was definitely a good mystery!
I would like to read more from this author again in the future.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an amazing read! Oh my gosh seriously fantastic! I was hooked from the very beginning until the end – I think what was actually so enthralling about it was how easily this could be a real story. The storyline was so realistic I could almost have been watching a film! I was constantly guessing what was going to happen the whole way through – the author didn’t give away any clues. I honestly was on the edge of my seat whilst reading Abbey’s journal entries, I had so many questions whilst reading, and I loved it!!! Cristina was the epitome of a friend and what true friendship represents; she had a gut feeling about her friend and would do anything for her.
This is definitely a book that needs to be experienced because it is difficult not to give too much away and therefore spoil it! All I can say is that A Person Could Disappear Here was an amazing read and one that I wholeheartedly recommend!!

Wolf: Book 3 in The Fairy Tale Series (Fairy Tale Series )Wolf: Book 3 in The Fairy Tale Series by Jody Lynn Daniels
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading Wolf by Jody Lynn Daniels. It is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her writing style and it didn’t take me long at all to really get into the story!
Maggie and Carson’s story was one that I really enjoyed following. I love the way the author really managed to get across how the characters were feeling especially Maggie, I felt like I was living through some of the story with her. I could feel the raw, painful emotions that the author poured into her. There were some moments in the story that were quite emotional and powerful and I have to admit I wasn’t expecting this at all. These painful parts were so beautifully written though and I could tell that they author had taken her time whilst writing them. I love that Carson wasn’t afraid to show his softer, emotional side also. These two characters were definitely connectable and relatable!
I would definitely love to read the first two books in the series especially if they are as great to read and as well written as this one is!

This is the 5th or 6th book that I have read by this author now and I always think maybe this will be the one that won’t be quite as good as the one before, she can’t possibly write another 5 star book but I am SO glad that I was wrong because it WAS just as amazing and it WAS another 5 star read!! A.S. Roberts is by far one of my favourite authors, her fated series is still my favourite to read over and over again and the Default Distraction series is shaping up to be just as amazing! Rafferty was just an outstanding read! From beginning to end I was completely captivated and blown away by what I was reading. Rafferty and Lauren were just simply amazing characters to read about, I felt like I was with them every step of their heart breaking journey – I was willing them to be together, I was hoping Lauren would get past what had happened between them previously and I was shouting at Raff to do something to win Lauren over! I was fully invested in their story and more!
I honestly cannot wait for the next book in the series! I just know it is going to be as amazing as this one is!!

Garrett (Dark Water Security book 2) By Madison Quinn – Review by Katie Matthews

Garrett (Dark Water Security #2)Garrett by Madison Quinn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED this book! I loved every single second of it! In fact I read it in one complete sitting, forgetting everything else that was going on around me! I do really love this author, she never fails to drag me into her stories from the very first word and as I expected Garrett was no different! I loved the slower pace of the story as that meant I got more time with Garrett – oh be still my heart!! He is definitely on my book boyfriend list! I loved him and Hope together! They had such a great chemistry and a genuine attraction to each other. There were some great twists and turns nestled amongst all the action and suspense of this story! I am really looking forward to reading more from this series in the future!
