Steele Resolve (The Hawke Family Book 6) by Author Gwyn McNamee – Review by Katie Matthews

Steele Resolve (Hawke Family #6)Steele Resolve by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think my heart may be officially broken! This series has been my all-time favourite ever written by an author I have absolutely come to adore! I will admit I am not a fan of m/m stories but I needed to read Steele Resolve because I knew I was going to finally find out about Luca! The book was very cleverly written running alongside timewise a previous on in the series. The dual POV meant I was fully able to understand the characters and their most inner thoughts and feelings – this meant in true Ms McNamee style some wonderful twists and turns appeared! The whole series was tied together with this story and I really was so sad when I realised that this was actually over. Byron and Luca’s story was so intense that I forgot that I was reading a m/m story after all love is love! Their story was truly captivating and I loved every second of it.
From the moment I read Savage Collision (book 1) I knew I had found an author to love and a series that would be amazing to read and it absolutely has been. That still remains one of my favourite books ever.
The Hawke Family series has truly been outstanding and I cannot recommend the books enough. Steele Resolve was the perfect final book and it deserves the 5 stars I give it!

Tracking Numbers (Lost Boys MC BOOK 1) by Janice M. Whiteaker – Review by Katie Matthews

Tracking NumbersTracking Numbers by Janice M. Whiteaker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a couple of books by this author now but Tracking Numbers is hands down my absolute favourite! It was an amazing read and I loved every single minute of it. The authors writing was just outstanding, everything about the book was just a complete hit for me. Kerri and Tracker – oh my gosh I totally fell in love with them straight away! Kerri was an awesome female lead! I think is probably one of my favourites! If I ever needed protecting I would honestly want someone like Tracker! Strong, alpha and will protect as hard as he can! Plus it helps he was extremely HOT!!
The author managed to keep me on the edge of my seat and completely hooked into the story with all the unexpected twists and turns and non-stop action! This truly was an outstanding read and I cannot wait to read more from this author again in the future.

Hidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles Novella by India Kells – Review by Katie Matthews

Hidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles NovellaHidden Magic: A Sanctuary Chronicles Novella by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every time I pick up a book by this author I am always hooked by what I am reading. Hidden Magic may have been a novella but it was packed full with a wonderful storyline and equally as wonderful characters. I am completely in love with Kat and Brant’s story, it is just so beautifully written. Brant’s determination just showed how much Kat means to him and I was rooting for them the whole way through. I honestly thought that they were so perfect for each other.
The whole story is just so beautifully and richly detailed that at times it is so easy to imagine what I am reading.
I cannot recommend this book enough and I am so excited to read more for Ms Kells again in the future!

Saint Code: Lost: Book Four of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie – Review by Katie Matthews

Saint Code: Lost: Book Four of the Lucky Devil SeriesSaint Code: Lost: Book Four of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first started this series I remember thinking that I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, it’s not my usual genre to read but I really liked the sound of the blurb so I thought I would give it a go and now here I am on book 4 and I have absolutely loved it! Ms Mackie has introduced me to a new genre that I am really enjoying. Her writing is so exciting to read and I love that her books are so unpredictable.
I’m not sure the characters are ones that I particularly connect with but the stories are so interesting to read about I am hooked from the very beginning. Saint Augustina was a great character to read about and I think there is a little more to her than there first seems. She may be a cyber spy but she had more of a human feel than other characters.
This was a richly detailed story that I highly recommend!

Nite Fire: Smoke & Mirrors (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider – Review by Katie Matthews

Smoke & Mirrors (Nite Fire #3)Smoke & Mirrors by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another fantastic read in this series! I am really enjoying it. This is the third book in the Nite Fire series and it was just as an exciting read as the first two. The authors writing never fails to pull me in straight away. There were some great twists and turns in the story that constantly had me guessing about what was going to happen. I love Dahlia and Alex, they have such a great relationship, they really do work well together and I enjoy the banter that they have between them. They are very entertaining characters to read about. There is just something about Dahlia that I can’t help but like, she is strong and independent and she really is just a likeable character.
Another wonderful book by C L Schneider and one that I highly recommend!

Cult (Feisty Lawyers Book 3) by Seelie Kay – Review by Katie Matthews

CultCult by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an AMAZING read!! I was drawn in from the very first word and I didn’t put the book down until I had devoured it entirely. I have really enjoyed this series so far but the author really took it to another level with this third book. I loved all the non-stop action and the twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and my eyes glued to the pages, pages that I couldn’t turn fast enough. I loved Dianna and Anders and seeing them work together to solve the case in this story. The authors writing is excellent, the pace and flow of the story are perfect for the story. Cult is one of those stories that you actually cannot wait to read again, which for me doesn’t happen very often.
This story may be on the shorter side but believe me it is not short on anything at all! An outstanding 5 star read and I cannot wait to read more from this author again in the future.

Act I: Seed On Fire (Moore Family Saga)Act I: Seed On Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love it when you go into a book with little expectation and it completely blows you away – this is exactly what happened with Act I: Seed on Fire! I read the blurb and wasn’t quite sure but what a read! I loved it and couldn’t put it down! It was also a wonderful introduction to Michele Sims as an author – one whose work I will definitely be reading more of in the future!
The story was really well written and felt very real at times. The characters were really relatable and I can imagine some readers definitely being able to relate to some of the things Kaiden and Alicia went through. I felt like I really understood the depth of the relationship that these two had – this story really was an absolute pleasure to read. I loved reading the ups and downs of this newly married couple and watch them overcome the problems that arise. I felt like I was on this journey with them!
I am definitely eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

A High Price to Pay (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 2) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Katie Matthews

A High Price to Pay (Madeline Dawkins, #2)A High Price to Pay by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great story by this author and a wonderful addition to a series that I am thoroughly enjoying so far! I really liked reading about Madeline, she seemed a little different in this story too which I liked. Again I felt like I was living the story with Madeline and guessing right along with her. There were a few twists and turns which kept me interested in the story all the way through. I did find the story a little repetitive at times however I still really enjoyed it. I do feel like there is so much more to Madeline as a character so I hope there is more to come from this series and the characters in it.
A High Price to Pay was an enjoyable read and one that I highly recommend!

Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary, #3)Vermilion Lies by L.D. Rose

Vermilion Lies was an awesome read! I loved books 1 and 2 in the series so I was really looking forward to this one and it more than met my expectations! The author definitely took this series to another level with the writing in this book! I was gripped from the very first page, it just felt like non-stop action and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough.
Dax and Cindel’s story was completely captivating! It was dark and raw and I honestly loved every second of it. There was this immense passion between the two of them and some undeniable chemistry! There were some great twists and turns that kept me glued to this story from beginning to end.
This book can be read as a standalone however I would recommend reading them in order.
As always I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

Salty Sebastian (Smirk Series book 3) by Jen Luerssen – Review by Katie Matthews

Salty Sebastian (Smirk Series Book 3)Salty Sebastian by Jen Luerssen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I honestly absolutely love this author! Her books never fail to entertain me and I always fall completely in love with the characters she creates – obviously Salty Sebastian was no exception! I loved every second of it! Second chance romance stories are amongst some of my favourite stories to read and this was a perfect example of why I love them! Kit and Sebastian’s first meeting was hot, heavy and VERY steamy but what I loved the most was that even after a few years apart the connection that they found that night was still there! I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through. The dynamic of the relationship may be different this time but I could tell there was something still there between them! I really liked the little twist to Kit’s story too!
I was hooked by this book from beginning to end – the authors writing pulled me in straight away! I am really excited to read more from her again in the future and I 100% recommend Salty Sebastian as a fantastic 5 star read!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is such a wonderful series to read and book 4 was no exception. I find myself easily hooked into the stories and whatever the characters are getting up to. This story is about Robin and Jackson and I thought that they were great characters to read about. Robin had a job to do and I could tell as soon as she set eyes on Jackson there was no way she would be able to follow through. I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through. Once again I loved seeing characters from previous books pop up in this one – it gives the books in the series a nice link with each other. A great read splattered with some mystery and romance! As always I look forward to more from this author again in the future.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Spouse Trap was a really great read! I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I absolutely will after really enjoying this book! I was hooked into the story quite quickly and I liked that I felt like I was living the story along with Madeline as she tried to unravel the events of the night she cannot remember! I admired her for the resilience she built up after everything she went through. She was a really strong main character! I found that I wanted to keep turning the pages just so I could find out what was going to happen to Madeline, would she finally find out what happened and what it meant for her marriage!
I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series and I highly recommend this one!

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells – Review by Katie Matthews

The Mourning IslandsThe Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The genre of this book isn’t one that I would normally choose to read however I had seen it promoted on social media a few times and the blurb sounded intriguing so I thought that I would give it a go and I am so glad I did. It was a really interesting read that was really well written and it was nice to read something a little bit different too. I liked the suspense that ran throughout the book that kept me guessing the whole way through. The author had clearly put a lot of thought into the characters in the story and making sure that the way in which he wrote about them was sensitive and respectful to people who may also suffer the same condition. The authors writing was really detailed and whilst the storyline was a little complex I had no problems following what was happening and I was fully invested in what I was reading.
A really great read and one that I would highly recommend!

After Wrath (The Deadliest Sin Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Katie Matthews

After Wrath (The Deadliest Sin Series Book 2)After Wrath by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So after what happened at the end of Wrath (book 1) I wasn’t so sure I was going to like the second book in the series but I absolutely loved it! Again it was dark, gritty and a little gruesome (although not quite as much as book 1 as things are left more to the readers imagination) and I loved the characters. It took me a little while, well a few pages anyway, to get to like Alek I wasn’t quiet expecting him to win me over like he did but the way he was with Kitty (Brynn) was really sweet, he may have not wanted to like her but it was obvious in the things that he did that she meant something to him. The chemistry between them was hot and there were certainly some steamy moments also!
I am extremely excited for the next book in the series ‘Surviving Wrath’! I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

Shattered (The Torzial Affair Book 1)Shattered by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read and loved the Prestian series by this author I couldn’t wait to get started on Shattered which is the first book in the Torzial Affair series and what a start to the series it was! I was hooked from the very first page until the last! The story was excellently written, there are some tougher parts to read however the author write about them carefully and respectfully. I really do absolutely love everything that I have read by this author.
The main characters Jenny and Brian were captivating to read about and having met them in the previous story I was really excited to see how their story would progress! Their story had it emotional parts but the connection that they had was amazing. Brian might be a controlling dominant but there was another side to him and he wanted to help Jenny overcome her demons.
I am very excited to read the next book in the series, Bound, to see where Jenny and Brian’s relationship goes!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gwyn McNamee is one of my favourite authors so I was really looking forward to reading Wrath which is book 1 in The Deadliest Sin series and what an opening book it was! It might only be a short read but it was certainly not short on the action! It was a dark and gritty read, a little bloody and gruesome at times but I 100% fell in love with Griff! I loved his devotion to Jade and he wasn’t going to let anyone get in his way along his journey! I loved the two of them together! The pace of the story was fast but it didn’t feel rushed! It was a brilliant read and I am so excited to read the next one in the series! The ending to this one left me with a wide eyed expression and a need to read on! It was definitely not what I was expecting at all!
A fantastic dark and gritty read that I would absolutely 100% recommend!

Out of the Box CollectionOut of the Box Collection by Jennifer Theriot
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Out of the Box Collection was a wonderful set of stories by an author whose books I absolutely love reading! Every single book had me hooked from the beginning and I fell in love with all of the characters. The way in which the author wrote about these characters made me truly feel that I was a part of their story, feeling all the emotions that they did. The realistic feel that they had been given again helped me become fully invested in what was happening in their lives. I thought that this series was particularly well written and probably my favourite stories by this author so far. They are the kind of the stories that after you have finished reading them they make you think about what you have read, for me this shows that the author has really allowed me to connect with the characters. The storyline was captivating, I found myself turning the ages quicker and quicker just so I could find out what was going to happen next and I loved that being a box set I was able to go straight from book to book without having to wait!

MINXMINX by Maggie Adams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Minx was a wonderful read by Maggie Adams and is also the first book that I have read by this author. The first thing that really made me want to read this book was the blurb, it was interesting enough to make me want to read about Miranda, the main characters but vague enough that I wasn’t quite sure what the story would be about so it was kind of like going in blind! I liked that I had no expectations about what was going to happen. I ended up loving Miranda! She was such a fantastic character to read about. She was so genuine and relatable – there were so many times when I just got what she was going through. I loved seeing her character evolve as the story progressed and I could definitely read more stories about her, I kind of felt there was so much more for her after the story finished.
I absolutely 100% recommend this story and I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

I cannot believe that the final book in this series is finally here! I almost didn’t want to read because I have been on such an amazing journey with these characters that I didn’t want it to end but the author absolutely did an amazing job with this final book and it is probably my favourite form the series! It was everything I expected and more! I have been on a worldwide adventure with this author and her characters without even leaving my house! Her writing is truly outstanding – every sound, smell, place of interest is described in such detail that I really do feel like I have experienced some of these places for real. Beautiful stories with amazing characters! I loved that even after book 6 the author still surprised me with what happened! Soren really came into his own in this story and it reminded me why I loved him so much in previous books!
I think that it is really important that these books are read in order and I don’t think readers would be disappointed at all! I really enjoyed this story! I thought that it was a well written and easy to read story that kept my attention from beginning to end. I liked that the author told the story in the 1st person and used multiple points of view – I always find that makes me feel much more engaged with the characters and it helps to know what they are both thinking at times!
The characters Flora and Dean were both lovely characters and it they were really refreshing to read about. They had a great chemistry and it seemed really genuine. There was a quite a bit of drama between the two of them and a lot of miscommunication but I enjoyed that about the story, I found myself invested in their story and I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through!

MaddJax Series, Boxed Series Set, Book One & Book Two: A Second Chance Stepbrother/co-CEO Romance by Deborah Ann – Review by Katie Matthews

MaddJax Series, Boxed Series Set, Book One & Book TwoMaddJax Series, Boxed Series Set, Book One & Book Two by Deborah Ann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a couple of books by this author previously which were fantastic reads so I was really looking forward to settling down with this box set and it absolutely did not disappoint at all! From the beginning of the first book to the end of the second I was completely hooked!
I am a fan of forbidden romance stories however not always a fan of step-sibling romances but the two main characters had a history before their parents married and I could really tell that this connection, nestled amongst a lot of angst, drama and a few twists and turns, was genuine and there was a huge amount of chemistry between them.
I liked Maddison – even if she did frustrate me a little at times! She certainly had a stubborn streak and that’s for sure!! And because of that stubborn streak she desperately tried to hide her desire for Jaxon! I can also understand some of this stubbornness and actually felt it was more a defence mechanism as she was guarding her heart from being hurt again.
Jaxon was everything I love in a male main character! He was sexy, charming and I fell for him straight away!
I loved both of these stories and cannot recommend them enough! It was great to go straight from book 1 to book 2 and not have the gap of waiting to find out what was going to happen!
I am definitely looking forward to more from Deborah Ann again in the future!!

Beachcomber Enemy is yet again another action packed and entertaining read by Stephanie Queen. I honestly though after all these books I might be a little fed up of Shana and Dane but absolutely not! I absolutely adore these two characters and everything that goes on in their lives! I think the author does an amazing job in creating different stories for them in each book and she absolutely still has my 100% attention! I feel like I saw a different side to Dane in this story too which was great it clearly shows that even now the characters are continually developing and I’m still learning about them. Alongside Shana and Dane there were some great secondary characters, especially Ronnie! It was nice to see how his character had developed form the last time he appeared in a story!

Winging It was such a wonderful and entertaining read – I absolutely loved every minute of it! The author had created a relay magical feel to the story and I loved her world building. Her writing style was very creative and at times it felt like I was watching what I was reading. The pace of the story was really good, fast enough that I didn’t get bored but not too fast that it felt rushed. I thought that Zach was a great character, he felt really relatable and typical for his age! It did give the story this realistic feel at times with how the author had thought and developed Zach as a character.

Another great read from Ms Burson. I have really enjoyed following Marcy throughout this series and seeing everything that she has gone through. As with everything in Marcy’s life there are still a few twists and turns that could derail her happiness. I love how the author has managed to not only keep my attention across all of the books but also make each story different all while making sure the continuation of Marcy’s life is there. I was left with a few unanswered question when I had finished this story so I am definitely wondering if the author is planning a ninth book in the series! I definitely hope so! There was great mix of mystery and suspense running throughout and I was engaged form beginning to end. I loved that the plot was predictable either; I loved having to guess what is going to happen!! There did seem to be quite a few different characters and it took me a little while to get used to them all but I loved the main characters! I loved Elizabeth!
