Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles Book 3) by Natalina Reis – Review by Katie Matthews

Rebel Jewel (The Jewel Chronicles Book 3)Rebel Jewel by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rebel Jewel is the third and final book in the Jewel Chronicles series and what a final instalment it was! I have really enjoyed this series and I have to say I think this book was probably my favourite even though it was really hard to decide that as they were all great reads!
I loved reuniting with characters Milenda and Jaali, I really enjoyed following their story as they continued their mission in Natale. I love the depth of these characters and how much they evolve over the stories. I was rooting for them both the whole way through the story to succeed in their mission!
The author really works hard with the world building in her stories and it really does make a difference – I am fully absorbed in what I am reading and can vividly imagine everything that I am reading.
I have really enjoyed this series and I 100% recommend it – from detailed writing to wonderful characters it made for an exciting and entertaining read.

The Flood by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Katie Matthews

The FloodThe Flood by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every time I pick up a book by this author I wonder what I’m going to be in for and I have to say The Flood certainly had my overactive imagination going long after I have read it – thankfully I chose to read it in the day!! I was completely hooked from beginning to end – she certainly has a way of capturing your attention and not letting go until the end. The storyline was gripping and that continued throughout the whole story. I will say this isn’t a story where I particularly connected with the characters because I think I was too busy trying to guess what was going to happen! I was certainly kept guessing the whole way through!
The Flood is a fabulous read and definitely one not to be missed!!!

A Perfect Fit by Zoe Lee – Review by Katie Matthews

A Perfect FitA Perfect Fit by Zoe Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Perfect Fit was a really sweet, easy to read romance novel and one that I really enjoyed. I’ve not read anything by this author previously so it was a great introduction to her as a new author. The main characters were the type that we so easy to fall in love with and I did straight away, they really were the sweetest with a great amount of chemistry. The author wove some great funny moments into the story which made it all the more enjoyable to read. I think my favourite character in the story was Dunk – he kind of surprised me a little bit I thought he was going to be you typical player type character but there was so much more to him! I definitely fell for him!!
Overall a wonderfully sweet read and one that I definitely recommend! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Tangles by Sharleen Scott – Review by Katie Matthews

TanglesTangles by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I knew as soon as I read the blurb for this book that it was going to be an interesting and I imagined emotional read at times and I was right. Tangles was a wonderfully written story about something that affects so many of us and in so many different ways. Not one person with this awful condition behaves in the same way and I thought that the author really did write about it well, with empathy and truth. Logan’s story was such a journey and I truly felt like I was on that with him. I don’t think Alzheimer’s is an easy condition to write about – for me I always worry that the author might take a more stereotypical stance but Ms Scott definitely didn’t with Tangles – she really delved into the depth of how this condition can affect families and I was completely captivated by what I was reading from beginning to end.
I 100% recommend Tangles; it is a raw and emotional read that is exceptionally well written.

Not So Wrong (Love Grows Book 2) by Renee Regent – Review by Katie Matthews

Not So Wrong (Love Grows series, Book 2)Not So Wrong by Renee Regent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been really looking forward to reading the second book in this series as I was especially excited to read Melanie and Spencer’s story! And as expected I was not disappointed at all! I fell in love with the two main characters straight away. There was just something about them both that drew me in straight away – Melanie was a strong, independent woman and Spencer – well he was just so hot I fell in love with him as soon as I met him – but as well as that there was a slight vulnerability about him that I really liked. There was just something so special about the two of them that together they just seemed to work, they both had their own secrets to deal with and I just knew that together they would be able to help each other out.
The author has written a really beautiful tale, the pace and flow of the story is excellent and my interest was kept from beginning to end. I absolutely loved Not So Wrong and I cannot wait to read more from Ms Regent again in the future!

The Confectioner Chronicles: The Complete Fantasy Mystery SeriesThe Confectioner Chronicles: The Complete Fantasy Mystery Series by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this collection of stories!! They were so magical with a good amount of suspense and along with it some fantastic plot twists and turns. I really liked the characters and I loved reading about them. One of the things I loved about this series is how unique it was and I loved the author’s writing. The stories were written it in such an engaging way that I couldn’t put them down. Having read books by her previously I know that her world building is usually good but I thought that it was excellent in this series. I really liked Wren and I actually liked that I had to work hard to get to understand her, I found her character really intriguing but there was something about her that I just instantly liked. She was a fantastic, strong heroine to read about. I think I would definitely like one of the deserts that she bakes!! All of the characters in the stories were great to read about.
I 100% recommend this series – it was a fantastic read!

The Fisher Men X-ing Lines (Book #2)The Fisher Men X-ing Lines by Rebel Nicks O’Dey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED this book!! After reading book 1 in the series I couldn’t wait to read more from this author, I still don’t know how I’ve missed her books before and I was not disappointed by book 2 whatsoever! This was a brilliant read, full of intrigue, great characters with off the charts chemistry and a great storyline! I loved Connor and Rika; they had an unusual meeting which I actually really liked. The on screen chemistry was bubbling and I was really excited to see if that would carry over once they met! It’s possible that I am a little bit in love with Connor!! I thought he was very swoon-worthy!! I really liked Rika too I thought that she was a great female lead! I was definitely rooting for these two the whole way through the story!
A fantastic second book in this series – I can’t wait for more!!

Truck Stopped (Satan’s Devils MC #11) by Manda Mellett – Review by Katie Matthews

Truck StoppedTruck Stopped by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been really looking forward to this book – I have loved this series so far and I have to say Ms Mellett has definitely saved the best until last! I was completely captivated by this story from beginning to end, I honestly could not put my kindle down at all. I have to say I am usually consumed by this authors stories but there was just something about this one, she really did take the story and characters to another level. She definitely brought the series full circle with this final instalment.
Truck and Allie’s story was so beautifully written, the emotional moments of the story really grabbed me at times. It’s been a while since a book had me in tears but this one did all within a few pages! I was so into what I was reading, I could feel everything to characters did and I think that’s definitely what had me so emotional!
Truck Stopped was an amazing ending to this series and a story I cannot recommend enough. It could be read as a standalone but I would 100% recommend the series as a whole!
As always I look forward to seeing what Ms Mellett comes out with in the future.

Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Katie Matthews

Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas #2)Rogue Wave by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

O-M-G!!! What a phenomenal read! I was completely captivated by this book from the very first page! This author truly does know how to capture my attention and keep it until the very last word. I thought I loved book 1 in the series but Ms McNamee took this story to a completely different level – I think it is definitely in my top 5 reads of 2019, if not my favourite!
I probably shouldn’t have liked Cutter, I mean he wasn’t the nicest of characters but I couldn’t help myself, there was just something that drew me to him straight away. Valentina was a great female lead, I kind of expected her to be a little naive but she wasn’t at all – she could definitely stand her ground!
I almost wish I had never read this story just so I can go back and start it all over again! Fantastic characters, great storyline and a twist that I absolutely did NOT expect! I absolutely loved this book and I cannot recommend it enough!!!

A Divided Mind by M. Billiter – Review by Katie Matthews

A Divided MindA Divided Mind by M. Billiter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Divided Mind was a really interesting read, not my usual go to book but I had seen a few recommendations for the story so thought I would give it a go. The author kept me on my toes the whole way through the story and the alternating POV’s meant that I got the story from different angles which was great – there was a real depth to the story. I thought the author portrayed mental health really well in the story, there were no cliché’s which I have come across before it was a raw, emotional story of a young person’s struggles and how these struggles impact both him and his family around him.
This is definitely a story that makes you think and with mental health a subject now that is being talked about more and more I think this story really does have a place. I really enjoyed reading it even if hard at times and I think they author really did do a great job with the story as a whole. I definitely recommend it to others.

Monty and the Monster by Rhonda Smiley – Review by Katie Matthews

Monty and the MonsterMonty and the Monster by Rhonda Smiley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Monty and the Monster was such an enjoyable read – I really enjoyed it. The author’s creative writing style captured my interest straight away and I can imagine older children/young adults would definitely enjoy the story. I really liked the character Monty and thought that he was really relatable and I can imagine that children would easily relate to some of the situations that he finds himself in. The story could definitely be used as a great teaching tool at times.
I would definitely recommend this story for young children/adults – I think the creative storyline along with the relatable characters would make it a very enjoyable read for them. There are some good twists in the story that will get them thinking about what could happen.

Fools Rush In (Interstellar Rescue Series Book 3) by Donna S. Frelick – Review by Katie Matthews

Fools Rush In (Interstellar Rescue, #3)Fools Rush In by Donna S. Frelick
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fools Rush In is the great 3rd book in the Interstellar Rescue series and yet again another wonderful read by this author. I would highly recommend that these books are read in order for the maximum reader enjoyment however it can be read as a standalone. Again what stood out for me in this book apart from the great characters was the author’s wonderful world building. Her richly detailed writing makes the setting for this story and the characters completely come alive. I think out of this series so far this one is probably my favourite, I loved that it took place more in space than the previous books, I really felt like I was watching the story at times rather than just reading it.
I loved the characters, especially Rayna; she was a fantastic female lead, strong willed, independent and definitely not someone to be messed with. I liked Sam as well and when the two met I could tell that their relationship was going to be a good one!
Fools Rush in is another wonderful read in this series and again I highly recommend it!

Al Capone at the Blanche HotelAl Capone at the Blanche Hotel by Linda Bennett Pennell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Al Capone at the Blanche Hotel was a really great read. I was intrigued when I first read the blurb for the story, it sounded like something different to read – I have to be honest and say I was actually really surprised at how much I actually liked it. The authors writing was really good, my interest was captured from the beginning and was sustained the whole way through. I love historical romance books but this is the first time I have read one in this time period and I really liked it, it was interesting to read about a different time period. The author really brought the characters to life and I found I was fully immersed in their story. Although the story alternated between past and present the story was really easy to follow.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and would absolutely recommend it to other readers.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this story! It is one of my favourite genres and this author absolutely did it justice! I lost myself in the story so easily and was transported to 1800’s Regency London! The authors writing really was excellent, I was fully invested in the story from beginning to end. I could tell that she had really taken the time to make sure what she was writing was in keeping with the time period and she did it perfectly in my opinion. I have read a lot of stories that take place in this time period and I think this is probably one of my favourites!
I loved the character Lady Anne! I thought she was great! I loved the way in which the author chose to write the story – for me it gave me a real insight into Lady Anne’s life and her story – I felt really involved in what I was reading!
Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady was a beautifully written story – one that I loved reading and would absolutely recommend to others 100%!!

I have read quite a few books by this author now and I always enjoy her imaginative and detailed writing. The genre of this book isn’t one I usually choose to read but the blurb sounded intriguing so I gave it a go. Overall I really enjoyed it, it was nice to read something a little different and I liked that the story was very unpredictable. The characters were interesting to read about and I was fully invested in what I was reading. The author threw in some great and unexpected twists and turns which meant I was guessing what was going to happen in the story the whole way through – this definitely helped keep my interest!
I am definitely looking forward to seeing if the author takes this forward further – I know I’ll definitely be on the lookout for a follow up book!

Surviving Wrath (The Deadliest Sin Series Book 3) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Katie Matthews

Surviving Wrath (The Deadliest Sin Series Book 3)Surviving Wrath by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every time I think I have found my favourite book from this author along she comes with her next release and does it again! I think the majority of my top 50 books belong to this author. Every single one is amazing and the third and final book in The Deadliest Sin series is of course no exception. I have loved this series, which does need to be read in order, and Surviving Wrath was just the perfect conclusion to it. Although I am, as always when a series by Ms McNamee finished, sad that it’s over that just means there will be something new out soon!
After the cliff-hanger of book 2 we were straight back into the action with the beginning of this book. I loved seeing things from Rea’s side although the story was quite short and 100% left me wanting more. The author managed to save some shock and surprises for this story too which was fantastic – she definitely saved the best until last with this one!
As mentioned before the series must be read in order but I more than 100% recommend it – it’s a phenomenal read and I can’t wait to see what this amazingly talents author comes out with next!

This was such an unusual but fascinating read. I have read many books by this author but this one looked a little different so I wasn’t too sure about it but it was a really good read. My interest was kept from beginning to end and I loved the unique storyline. I have only recently started reading books about time travel but it seems to be a genre I’m really getting into and so I loved that aspect of this story. As I expected the author attention to detail and beautiful description really added to my enjoyment of the story, she always brings the scenes to life and I love the characters that she creates. I loved Wilda; she was such a great character to read about. She was strong willed, witty and definitely didn’t put it with any funny business!
Time Tourist Outfitters, Ltd was an intriguing read that I thoroughly enjoyed! I definitely recommend it to other readers!

Finding Ruth: A Daughter’s Quest to Discover Her Mother’s Past by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Katie Matthews

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read a few book by this author now and I love her writing style however this is very different to her other books as it comes from personal experience so I knew I would be in for something new from her. The book was extremely well written, it was heartfelt, personal, raw and very emotional at times. I do applaud the other for taking the time to document something as heart breaking as watching a loved one suffer with this awful condition. A condition that completely strips away the person that you once knew little by little. One I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down, I honestly felt like I was right there living this story with the author at times. I can only imagine how emotional it was for the author to compile everything to write this book but she did an absolutely amazing job and I 100% recommend it to other readers.

CLAIMED (The Torzial Affair Book 3)CLAIMED by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Claimed is the third and final book in the Torzial Affair series and what a final book it was. I have loved all of the books so far but the author really pulled out something special for this one it was an absolutely amazing read! Brian and Jenny’s journey has been such a rollercoaster to read about so many ups and downs that have kept me reading from page 1 in the very first book until the last word in this final book. I have completely taken them into my heart and I am so sad that their story is now over. Even at this late stage in a trilogy the author was still able to surprise me with the characters and throw in some great twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my seat!
This has really been a fantastic series and one that I highly recommend. Claimed was a phenomenal final book in the series and whilst I’m sad its over I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion! I can’t wait to read more from this author again in the future.

Review of Sugar & Spice featured in the Sweetest Obsessions Boxed Set

By Phoebe Alexander

I absolutely adore this author, I really do! I love the fact the characters she writes about are every day down to earth people, especially the females! They aren’t super skinny, tanned with big chests – she opts for the more curvaceous females who are just absolutely fabulous to read about! And the female lead in the story was no exception she was brilliant! A down to earth single parent who has body hang ups like most women but also was learning how to accept her body! Jolie is probably one of my favourite female leads from Ms Alexander; there was just something about her that made me connect straight away! I loved the setting for the story; a sweet theme park – such an unusual setting for a story –loved it! Alongside the amazing Jolie was ‘Marcus’ – I just loved him! I guess I could predict how the story was going to go but I still loved everything about the two characters and the way in which they met and how their relationship went along. There was the usual steamy scenes in the story, as expected with this author and again as usual they are brilliantly written with a great spice level!!
I am so excited to see what is going to come next in the book, as Ms Alexander does lead us nicely into a second book in the epilogue! I think it’s going to be AMAZING!!!!!! This book definitely deserves more than 5 stars – I loved every single minute of it!

Simply Irresistible: A Totally Sweet Love StorySimply Irresistible: A Totally Sweet Love Story by Jennifer L. Allen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED this story! I really enjoy this author’s wonderful stories, they are so sweet and as the title says irresistible! She writes wonderful contemporary romance stories that are engaging from the start and with characters I always fall in love in love with straight away. I loved Tyler! I liked that he was able to admit his faults when it came to relationships, and I loved that he was obsessed with the 90’s! Totally my era for growing up! Melanie was just adorable, she really was! I loved her naivety and shyness when it came to even looking in Tyler’s direction and I admired her attitude when it came to the job that she absolutely loves! I could feel the connection between Tyler and Melanie; it wasn’t that all consuming passion in some stories but more of a gentle, slow burn – it was perfect for the two of them! For me I thought that they were just perfect for each other and I was rooting for them the whole way through.
Simply Irresistible was a super sweet read and one that I highly recommend! I can’t wait to read more from this author again in the future!

The Traitor, An Underground Bad Boys SeriesThe Traitor, An Underground Bad Boys Series by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Traitor was another amazing 5 star read by an extremely talented author! I loved every single second of what I was reading. When I read book 1 in this series I said that whilst I’m not a fan of MFM stories I love this author so I’m willing to read them however even I cannot deny that pull that these characters had to each other. The passion, the chemistry and the connection that they had was immense and the author really does write the scenes very well. I loved Spencer, there was just something about him that drew me to him straight away, he felt like he was broken and it honestly made me want to give him the biggest hug ever! Josie was a fantastic female lead; she was feisty with a stubborn streak and in my opinion perfect for Spencer! Throw Gage in to the mix and it told for a very steamy time for these three characters!
I absolutely loved this story and would 100% recommend it to other readers. It could be read as a standalone however I highly recommend the first book in the series (and any other book by this author) also!

Eternity (Captivity Book 3)Eternity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The third and final book in the series, Eternity by Ms Biglow and Ms Zenk was probably my favourite from the series! I have really enjoyed all of the books but this one really did capture my attention from the very first word. I am still in awe of these two authors and how seamlessly their writing just blends together as if one, it is really difficult to tell that this actually is a dual author written story! I loved getting back in to the action with Aiden and Lorelei – they really had to work hard to make sure that their loved ones and each other were safe from a deadly plot! I have to say I’m not usually a fan of shifter stories but these two authors have definitely piqued my interest – I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole of this series and I am looking forward to reading more from them again in the future – both as joint authors and as individual ones.

Game Changer was another great read by Sylvie Stewart. I always enjoy picking up one of her new releases as I know that I am most definitely going to be in for a good read. Beau and BettBeau and Bett by Kathryn Berla
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So when I first saw the cover for this book I didn’t really bother to read the blurb because I am all for modern day retelling’s of fairy tales – they are some of my favourite reads so I just jumped right in and I got a huge surprise – this book was not what I was expecting at all but it was a great read! Like I say not what I was expecting but enjoyable nonetheless. Although I will say that I don’t think I would have necessarily have guessed from reading the book that it was a retelling of Beauty and The Beast to be perfectly honest if it hadn’t been made clear on the cover. The authors writing was good, the story had a great pace and flow to it.
I did struggle to connect with the characters at times, I found them a little irritating but I think as the story progressed I began to understand them a little more.
I have read a few books by this author now and as always I look forward to reading more in the future.

Legacy of Luck is another wonderful read and addition to the Druid’s Brooch series by Christy Nicholas. I am always completely captivated by this author’s books, her attention to detail when telling the stories means that I can always easily envisage what I am reading. Her world building is excellent. The story is a slow build which I really liked, I really liked and connected with the characters – I especially liked Eammon, I thought that he was a great character. I definitely found myself rooting for him and Katie; there was this real and genuine connection and attraction between them both. The author put a lot of emotion into the story and it worked well against the suspense of what was going to happen.
