From The Ashes: a gripping psychological thriller (Ashes to Ashes Book 3) by Rowena Holloway – Review by Naomi McDonald

From The Ashes (Ashes to Ashes, #3)From The Ashes by Rowena Holloway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the Ashes is the third book in the Ashes to Ashes series. I recommend reading the previous books before this one.

This story starts off with a bang. It’s intense right from the beginning and you just can’t stop reading. Part of what makes this book so suspenseful is the back and forth of the timeline. It keeps the answers just out of reach and creates the drive to keep focused so you can figure it all out.

I won’t get into details, because I don’t want to give away any of the plot turns. Suffice it to say, this book is spectacularly suspenseful, marvelously mysterious, and a dangerously delicious read.

Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha)(The Leonidas Corporation Book 1) by Tarina Deaton – Review by Angela Hayes

Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha / The Leonidas Corporation Book 1)Found in the Lost by Tarina Deaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a perfect example of why and how I fell in love with Ms. Deaton’s writing- and why she is one of my ‘one-click, no questions asked’ authors. Then I discover the story has an archaeological theme, with a treasure hunt- AND special forces operatives- and I was one very happy camper!!!!
Found in the Lost is the first book in The Leonidas Corporation series by Tarina Deaton. It is the start of a new series and if this first book is anything to go by, the series is set to be fantastic. This is also a cross-over into the Special Forces: Operation Alpha series by Susan Stoker. I will definitely be going to check those books out now, too.
Found in the Lost has so much going on in it- in a really superb way. With all the action, adventure, archaeological elements, Mayan ruins, treasure hunting, bandits, suspense, drama, intrigue, trekking through the Guatemalan jungles, betrayal, romance… and so much more that I am having trouble conveying how great this story really is. It would make a fantastic movie- along the lines of Indiana Jones, but with a female archaeologist. It has the feel of Tomb Raider x Indiana Jones x Romancing the Stone- but with its own unique spin and identity- and Ms. Deaton’s wonderful wordsmithing skills which brought everything to life right before my eyes. I was ‘watching’ the story unfold- rather than merely reading it. I was swept up into all the adventure as it unfolded- and I loved every minute. There is also a flirty, fun feel to the story- which balances all the action, danger, and emotive elements so wonderfully well.
I loved everything about this book!! I was all in, enthralled right from the beginning- up until the end of the very last page. I loved the friendly banter, camaraderie and bonds that the characters have- especially Shane and his friends and team. The humour that Ms Deaton was able to infuse into the story had me smiling so hard at times, that my cheeks hurt. There was also some edge of my seat, heart in my mouth moments, where I was caught in a page flipping frenzy, reading along with all the dramatic, tense, and emotive developments- desperately needing to know how everything played out. That’s how invested I was in the characters and their story. I couldn’t put the book down- and read it in one sitting.
So, if you like a suspenseful romantic adventure with some wonderful characters- that’s completely captivating and totally unforgettable. Then this is definitely the book for you.

Thank you, Ms. Deaton!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gah! This series has hooked me! I cannot get enough of it. I literally consume every book and Impatiently wait for more! I would read these books in order because we do get introduced to these characters in the prior story!

Moon and Katja were pure perfection! Their chemistry sizzled the pages! Phoebe Alexander has a way to always up the ante with steam and spice but still deliver a very in-depth story with a very original plot! You will never read a book like hers and that is why she’s on the top of my one-click list!

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book Two) by KG Fletcher – Review by Liz Vrchota

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts #2)Stars Fall From the Sky by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy Pete! This book absolutely wrecked me, in all the perfectly good ways of course but regardless it tore me apart. I have enjoyed the Reigning Hearts book one a few times over but this one has to be my favorite KG Fletcher book hands down. Stars Fall From the Sky is one of those books that has a bit of extra magic to it. You go into it expecting a love story but get so so much more with the emotional and underlying issues that plague the characters.

Ginger McCormick has literally been to the bottom when a tragedy that was completely unexpected ripped her world to pieces and forced her to live a solitude that she never knew existed. Unfortunately, Ginger’s best friend is getting married, by the ocean, the very thing that destroyed her life. She decided to face it and in the process meets Dr. Jonathon Walden. Walden chooses a life of solitude. He is not looking for anything except to get through each day as smoothly as possible without dwelling on the past that haunts him. These two are the key to each other’s soul and healing. When a friendship is not enough will the pressures of their past block them from finding that happily ever after? Can they put their hearts on the line for a chance at love once more? I can’t say enough good about this book and I am dying to get my hands on the next one!

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia #2) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Cassi Rogers

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia Book 2)Virtue & Vice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Virtue & Vice by Phoebe Alexander is book number 2 in the Spicetopia series. While the description of this series states that it can be read in any order, I highly recommend reading them in order starting with Sugar & Spice. I feel as if you need to read the first book to have a full understanding in what is happening in this book. This book is told from the alternating POV of Moon and Katja, who we meet at the very end of book 1. They are tired of their jobs where they seem to be running on a hamster wheel and are ready for something different. The couple along with Jolie and Cy set off on an adventure of a lifetime to build an adult theme park out in paradise.
Overall this book was amazing and I finished it in a day; it is a quick and easy read as well as being full to the brim with steamy passionate scenes. I love how this book has different content then the average ‘adult romance’. This book was just about perfect, the only thing that I would have loved to see is maybe a few brief chapters with Jolie and Cy’s thoughts on events that play out through the book, especially the big ones! I can say that every book I have read from this author has been extremely well written. The storyline and characters are alluring and draw you in quickly. It can get toy with your emotions very quickly, as it did with mine, as the wrench was thrown into the plans during the last half of the book. Overall this was a great book and I would recommend this to friends.

I enjoyed this book, I look forward to reading more from this series. This is a well developed story with lots of action, suspense and even some romance. The characters are strong, well rounded and make the story realistic. Jax is a vigilante who has Special Inspector Pedroni right on her trail. The closer he gets the more intrigued he gets with her. Than you four big time criminals forming an alliance that Jax is out to stop. I highly recommend reading this book to see how it all will end.

I loved this book. This is a collection of seven stories that are full of steam, hot men and women. Each book pulled me into right from the beginning and kept me engaged until the end. The characters make the stories feel real, as if you are right there with them. Some of the stories I have already read but I certainly found some that will heat up a cold night. This author writes with emotion that keeps me coming back for more. This is a must read!

Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha)(The Leonidas Corporation Book 1) by Tarina Deaton – Review by Karyn Taylor

Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha / The Leonidas Corporation Book 1)Found in the Lost by Tarina Deaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Found In The Lost is the first book in the Leonidas Corporation series by Tarina Deaton. It was my first time reading any of this author’s work and I was very impressed by how good this book was.
I absolutely adored the 2 main characters. Kinley Dunn has recently translated an ancient Mayan script and is now on her way to be part of the dig. This becomes a journey that is fraught with danger, mystery, intrigue, suspense and romance. Former SEAL Shane Ivers is on a relaxing trip exploring Mayan ruins when his path crosses with Kinley. If you are a believer of love at first sight then you’ll love this book as Kinley and Shane are both immediately smitten with each other.
This book is very fast paced and will grab you from the very first page and not let you go. I was totally gripped by this book and didn’t put it down until it was finished. The story flows very well and the characters are realistic and believable. It is certainly not a predictable story as the author throws in a few curveballs that will have you screaming WTF!!
If the rest of this series is anywhere as good as this first book then I’m sure this is going to become one of my favourite series’.

Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia Book 2) by Phoebe Alexander

5 out of 5 stars
Please read books in order so you can follow along with the story line….
Virtue & vice is the second book in the Spicetopia series written by Phoebe Alexander. The characters are awesome, and I love the plot. This book contains BDSM and swinging and is hot hot hot. Why can’t adults have an adult theme park that caters to their needs. We get to see Cy and Jolie as they partake in an adventure with Moon and Katja the couple they met while away.
The creators of Spicetopia know adulting is hard. Bills. Mortgages. Parenting. Estate planning. Sometimes you just need to kick back and indulge your inner kid except now that inner kid has grown-up tastes.
Cy and Jolie have experience from the kids’ theme park Cy’s family owns. Moon and Katja bring technical and architectural expertise to the table. So, these two couples set out to create a world of adult fun in a slice of paradise called Spicetopia.
Can these four work together and build their dream world–while having plenty of adult fun along the way? Or will their dream end up being flushed right down the toilet?

I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to I start book three in this series…..

Hang On To Your Shirt Tails (Chasing Tails Book 2) by C.A. King

5 ++++++++ Stars

The very first thing I did when finishing this book was immediately visit this authors website and Facebook page …I had no luck figuring out when the next book was coming…ugh, I need it NOW!

What is so amazing about reading the many books I have by C.A. King is that paranormal is one of my least favorite genres but the stories I’ve read and there’s been a few by this author have me completely addicted to her writing and her imagination. I read this one within an hour and a half and wanted to scream when I finished. Tails and Brodie’s story is such a sweet, sad, exciting, dangerous, frustrating, amazing, edge of your seat kind of adventure and I love them so so much. I wanted so bad to strangle Eliza in this book but at the same time wanted to hold her close and protect her.

There were a few surprises in this part, ones that caught me totally off guard and there was one character that surprised me in the end and I hope he is a big part of the next one. I just can’t wait to see where this series goes from here…there’s more than one story going on here, both of them very important and I’m a little worried and a lot excited for more. Please please let the next come soon!!

Read this series, not even kidding, it’s worth every second of it!

Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd: Four Book Collection by Gwyn McNamee writing as D.P. Payne – Review by Jenni Bishop

Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd: Four Book CollectionSupernatural Love Stories in the Absurd: Four Book Collection by D.P. Payne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Supernatural Love Stories in the Absurd: Four Book Collection by D.P. Payne is a set of paranormal stories that are each unique and different from other stories. Each one is steamy and the finding of true love. I love the way DP used characters that are less shared in stories such as a Wendigo, a Pharaoh, a ghost and the Loch Ness monster. It also didn’t hurt that three of them where sexy men and one sexy woman.

Parched is the story of one greedy man who due to his greed was turned into a monster but could all that change, when he stumbles upon one strange enigma?

Cursed is the story of one woman obsessed with one man who was a Pharaoh but little was known about him. When she attends a dig in Egypt she uncovers the truth behind the man and maybe help break the curse.

Spirited is the story of a haunted house where the new owner gets up close and personal with the residing ghost. When she becomes more to him, he sets out to find a way for them to be together but what will the cost be?

Loched is the story of a little girl who knew there was more to the myth of the Loch Ness monster. After years away she returns and sets out to find the truth of the monster that no one else knows like her. But when she learns the truth behind the two families could all that she wants, be taken before it really began?

I enjoyed each and every story and the uniqueness of each tale. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Beneath the Fallen City (The Omni Towers Series Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters. I find myself want to expand my horizons in the reading world so I was glad to pick up this book and give it a try. And I’m so glad I did. I found myself completely drawn into this world the author has created in a short time and found I really enjoyed the adventure I was taken on with Kayla and the other characters. Kayla’s character was one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon I just loved her attitude and found I really wanted to have a friend just like her. Like I said this was a bit outside my wheel house of reading but that being said I was impressed with the characters and storyline. It’s well written and paced nicely. Virtue & Vice (Spicetopia Book 2)Virtue & Vice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read a couple of books from this author and she continues to blow my mind. This is the second book of the Spicetopia series. You can read this book as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it. The story was so good I could not stop until I finished. It only took me a few hours to devour this book.

Moon and Katja are on a trip when they meet Cy and Jolie. They feel a connection from the start. Moon and Katja are tired of their dead end jobs. When Cy and Jolie give them an offer they can’t refuse they end up leaving their old life behind them. Moon and Katja also want to start a family but will they be able to with their new life? Also will they be able to trust the new coupe they just met?

I absolutely loved this book. This storyline has it all romance, struggles, and trust. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Moon is a very smart guy that knows what he wants. He would do anything for his wife. Katja is a very strong woman. She wants to start a family but she is afraid of being a parent. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will keep you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will bring us next.

Book 3
By Ellen Butler
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
This is book 3 in the Karina Cardinal series. This book could be read as a standalone, but why?

If you love a great mystery, you will love this story. When Sadira Manon is arrested for stealing diamonds, there are some questions that need answered. Like, why is a school teacher wearing high quality, name brand clothes on a teacher’s salary? Where did she really get her money? Things are not looking favorable for Sadira. So it is time to call Karina, Jilly and
Silverthorne Security.

Ellen Butler has done it again! She has written this compelling mystery. Her writing is clear and fast paced. She gives just enough information to keep you intrigued and interested in this book. I love the characters set forth in this suspenseful mystery. I loved being able to follow this series and can’t wait for more. Well done Ellen Butler! Well done!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden Tracks by Zoe Lee is a romantic story about Astrid and Seth. One thing about Zoe Lee’s writing that I appreciate is her characters in her story. They are fully developed and easy to become book friends with the characters too. The story is a simple one. Seth is in a band and Astrid is a journalist. Astrid just got out of marriage with a “rock god”. She finds herself in a small town and writing about the band Downbeat. Seth was a member of Downbeat. They just asked him to rejoin the band. The band is at a music festival and that is when Astrid and Seth met. They story is simple but yet complicated in certain aspects. Will Astrid keep her distance from Seth? Will Seth act on his feelings? At the end will Astrid and Seth get together?

From The Ashes: a gripping psychological thriller (Ashes to Ashes Book 3) by Rowena Holloway – Review by Maura Harper

From The Ashes (Ashes to Ashes, #3)From The Ashes by Rowena Holloway
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love the covers in this series. There is something about them that I was just drawn to. They have a unique feel to them and I think perfectly fits with the series.

FROM THE ASHES is the third and final book in the “Ashes to Ashes” series and it is my opinion that this series should be read in order. This author has a very distinctive writing style and tells a very detailed tale.

As with the other books in the series, I did find myself skimming a little bit because I wanted to know what was going on faster than I could read. This is a great psychological thriller and at times I was twisting and turning to figure out what was going on.

While this was my first series by this author, it will not be my last.

Chicken Scratch (The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series Book 1) by Becki Willis – Review by Maura Harper

Chicken Scratch (The Sisters, Texas #1)Chicken Scratch by Becki Willis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars

When I saw that this was a copy mystery, I was expecting something similar to “Murder She Wrote” or something as sweet. Within the first 10 pages we learned the gruesome way someone died. BLECH I have never been in, nor will I now ever go into a chicken house. Come to think of it, I’m not sure I want to ever eat chicken after reading the workings of a chicken (slaughter) house. Has anyone ever survived on chocolate alone? I digress…

CHICKEN SCRATCH is the first book in “The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series” and it is a full set up on who Madison is and how she has found herself in the precarious position she is in. Madison ends up back in Juliet, Texas “the most boring town in the state of Texas” to live with her grandmother after a few life events left Madison and her children to fend for themselves in life.

The book has a mystery, some humor, great friends and familiar relationships. Madison and her best friend Genny definitely have a “Laverne and Shirley” vibe to them. “I always envisioned (personal shopping) as being a bit glitzier. I thought when you were a personal shopping, you got to buy things like fur coats and plush furnishings… So far, you’ve been stuck buying hearing aids supplies and bladder control pads.”

There is a lot that goes on in the story and the protagonist certainly finds herself in some interesting, death defying situations. I didn’t “bond” with her for some reason but it could be the space I am in.

Not everything is wrapped in a bow at the end, so I’m sure there is more high-jinx to come in the next book.

Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery Series) by Ellen Butler – Review by Sunday Barnaby

Diamonds & Deception (Karina Cardinal Mystery, #3)Diamonds & Deception by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Diamonds & Deception by Ellen Butler
Four Stars

Diamonds & Deception is the third book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery Series by Ellen Butler. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you read this series in order. You get a great background on the characters if you do. This book like the previous books, hooked my attention from the very first page. I love the humor sprinkled in with the mystery and intrigue.
Karina and her sister Jillian dig a little too deep into a friend’s troubles andend up on the wrong side of the mob. Now, Karina must call on Mike to help, but will he be around to answer her call. If you love mystery, adventure, comedy and romance rolled into one this is definitely the read for you.

From The Ashes: a gripping psychological thriller (Ashes to Ashes Book 3) by Rowena Holloway – Review by Erica Fish

From The Ashes (Ashes to Ashes, #3)From The Ashes by Rowena Holloway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the Ashes by Rowena Holloway is the conclusion of the Ashes to Ashes series. I highly recommend reading the first two books so you can follow the story. Holloway has been my new psychological thriller author. Her stories are captivating and engaging. Every time you think that the story will go this way, it will take a 180 degree turn. The characters are fully developed and complex, which allows you to follow them into every part of the story. Charlotte is that character. She is a journalist who just happens to stumble into a story of the Hall. She has a hard time because her eyes are not really looking at what is in front of her. She is trying to put a puzzle together. Will Charlotte find out what is going on at the Hall? Will it be too late? Sit back and enjoy the journey Charlotte will take you on.

Hidden Tracks by Zoe Lee – Review by Lisa Brydalski

Hidden TracksHidden Tracks by Zoe Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden Tracks by author Zoe Lee is the story of Astrid Sinclair and Seth Riveau. Astrid is a music journalist that is doing an article on the band Downbeat and Seth is the former bandmate who has been asked to join Downbeat for old times sake. When the two meet sparks fly and the story that Astrid has been asked to write now becomes the mystery behind Seth and the feelings, she has for him. Astrid has been burned once by her ex and isn’t ready for another relationship. Seth is a mystery that Astrid finds herself wanting to solve but is she ready for what she might find? Is Seth ready to give up his solitary lifestyle and learn to live again?
This was the first book I have read by this author. The story was a little slow moving in the beginning but soon I found myself intrigued with Seth and couldn’t wait to hear his entire story and what made him tick. I never really felt any connection to Astrid, I actually found her kind of annoying to tell the truth. After the first few chapters I found myself reading for Seth’s story alone. I can honestly say that if the author writes more about Seth’s bandmates, I would definitely read what is put out.

From The Ashes: a gripping psychological thriller (Ashes to Ashes Book 3) by Rowena Holloway – Review by Erin Wolf

From The Ashes (Ashes to Ashes, #3)From The Ashes by Rowena Holloway
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give From The Ashes – a gripping psychological thriller (Ashes to Ashes Book 3) by Rowena Holloway, 4 stars.
**This review may contain spoilers from previous books in the series.**

Charlotte had her career and life go up in smoke. Now she has decided to follow some possible leads and check out a brain injury clinic. The best way for her to do that it to get a job there. In reality, she needs the paycheck as much as she needs to find the truth. But the more she digs, the deeper the mystery appears. Plus it seems to tie into someone she can’t stop thinking about — Tyrone. Who is behind all the mysterious deaths? Can Charlotte get to the bottom of it in time? Are the people around her really what they seem?

The conclusion to this series, this is a superb book. It leads you off with the ending, then you go back and forth in the viewpoints of the different characters, following both what happens to lead up to the event and what happens directly after. The story is very gripping, you want to just who is to blame for everything, and I admit, I did not know until the end. Charlotte is a great character, she wants to know what is going on, but at the same time, she feels for these patients. Then there are the other people for whom we see viewpoints. Each and everyone different, but real. You are held on the edge of your seat until they can find out just who did it and why. I love this type of book.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers, this series and book are for you.
