Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Amanda DelFemine

Crimson may not be the best witch but she is a great person. She falls for a half demon half human that has a contract with the devil. She jokingly sells her soul to the devil and its a story of how she tries to get out of it. I absolutely loved the style of Pulkinens writing and this book really made me laugh out loud with all the crazy mishaps. Lifes a Witch is truly super entertaining and a quick listen. I did not want it to be over and I cant wait to listen on.

The House that Adelia Built AUDIO BOOK by Mya O’Malley – Review by Kayla Bullock

The House that Adelia Built intertwines the stories of 2 women, Adelia and Hope. Adelia-1875, living as a wife to Augustus, the lighthouse keeper. Hope-2017, living by the lighthouse and giving tours of the old property. When Hope starts having dreams that she can’t explain, she begins to dig into the history of the lighthouse. A delight to listen to, with unexpected twists and turns and an ending I didn’t see coming. The pacing of the story is great. The reason for 4 instead of 5stars is that I felt like the time with Adelia jumped around a lot and should have been smoother.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a first for me by this author and not really quite what I expected it to be. However, it turned out to be just as good, if not better, than what I thought when I started. I did feel like there was much more that needed to be written when I finished it, so I am glad to now know that the second part is now available. I am hoping that this will continue and finish off some of the questions that I had from this one. I will say that after a few chapters in I found myself immersed in a world of romance, magic, mystery, and a lot of laughter. The main character is brilliant on so many levels and I truly wanted to be in her little world. It was a fast read for me and I felt like I needed it to go on longer than it did.

Cursed Whispers (Broderick Coven Book 3) by AJ Renee

This is another great read by Renee. Cursed Whispers is about my favorite Broderick brother, Max. Each of the Broderick Coven Series can be read as a standalone.

Max can talk to animals. Yeah, you’re probably thinking it’s because he’s a get. But he can literally talk to animals. When he goes to his sister’s baby shower he gets a feeling. The feeling led him to his mate. The quote I chose for Max is: “When I heard your cry of pain, I decided right then to do everything I could for you. Learning you’re a werewolf hasn’t changed a thing. I can tell you don’t trust easily and probably for a good reason. Please trust me—us—when we say we will fight alongside you.”

Claudia is a werewolf. You know the kind that can phase between wolf form and human. She was taken, abused, and raped. Bringing along her daughter when she escapes. Now she has lost her daughter and needs Max’s help to find her. The quote I chose for Claudia is: “I, Claudia Lupita, mother of Katia, pledge my allegiance to the Alumbra pack. I swear to protect Peter Rawly and my fellow packmates from any and all who wish them harm.”

Highly recommended for Paranormal lovers.

Nightfall by TK Lawyer – Review by Jennifer Gordon

NightfallNightfall by T.K. Lawyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging paranormal, shifter romance with a twist. I was hooked from start to finish with this novel and felt immersed in Tamara and Josh’s world. Tamara has been burned by men before and is now against dating but she faintly remembers a man, Josh who she didn’t dare take a chance with and wishes she had. Meanwhile Josh, who is actually a wolf shifter is drawn to Tamara and her scent and when he realises that she is in fact his mate he will do anything to be near her, even become her pet. Tamara thinks the stray dog she took in is just her new pet, Nightfall, and could never imagine that he is in fact Josh. Josh soon wants to be more to Tamara than just her pet but is unsure how to get out of the crazy situation he’s in. He decides to convince her that he is the one for her. However, Tamara’s battered heart is preventing her from opening up to Josh and excepting a future with him and Josh knows that he risks her walking away from him for good. The authors descriptive narrative bought both the characters and the setting to life and I liked the twist on the shifter mate relationship, with Tamara thinking that Josh was her pet, Nightfall. The chemistry between Josh and Tamara came across in the story and I enjoyed how their relationship developed as they got to know each other. The storyline flowed well and the plot kept me happily turning the pages, keen to discover what would happen next.

Cursed Whispers (Broderick Coven, #3)Cursed Whispers by A.J. Renee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Max Broderick is one of seven children and they are all witches, but they only found out a year ago, they each have a different magical gift and Max’s happens to be the ability to talk to animals, with a little bit of emotion triggered telekinesis thrown in for good measure. On this particular day, he is heading to his sisters house for her baby shower with one of his other brothers, he thinks he hears something coming from the woods, however puts it out of his mind and goes into the house and see his sister, but as soon as he does, he feels a pull to go out onto her patio hears a whimper of pain and sets off running in it’s direction. As he searches the woods for the animal in need, he doesn’t even contemplate whether his brother is following him because the pull he is feeling is too strong to ignore and when he finds the injured wolf which is in such a desperate condition he immediately talks to it and tries to reassure it that it is safe and in good hands, btu when he picks it up and it passes out, he realises just how bad its condition is.

As the wolf is drifting in and out of consciousness, she hears smatterings of conversations in the background but cannot focus long enough to understand their meaning and as soon as she surfaces, she is dragged back down into the darkness of memories and regrets. When she next wakes up she feels the presence of a pack alpha and is terrified of him, but the other voices around her realise this and tell him off, it is then that she realises that the door to the cage she is in is open and considers running, however, the kind voice nearby tells her it would be no use in the condition she is currently in, but that she is also free to leave whenever she wants to. She responds to his questions as best she can and introduces herself as Claudia Lupita, but she is overtaken by the need to shift and the excruciating pain which this causes makes unusual things happen in the room although she doesn’t understand why yet. Meanwhile Max is taken aback by the sudden and fierce need to protect this werewolf and loses control of his telekinesis when his brother tries to approach Claudia to heal her now she is back in her human form and as he apologises for throwing them around the room and allows him near to her to help heal her, all the while feeling her pain within him and not comprehending why.

After the others leave the surgery Max tries to engage with Claudia while giving her space and time to adjust to the new environment around her all the while constantly reassuring her that she is safe with him. Claudia decides to use the facility shower to clean up a bit and rests while she can after eating while thinking about the hell she has escaped and the things she still needs to do and when Max’s sister comes back the next morning with supplies and a kitten who chooses to be called Stormy, Claudia starts to talk about how she arrived there and who is still in the woods waiting for her. It is at this point that a Broderick family meeting is called so that Claudia doesn’t have to repeat what she has to tell them more than once and when she explains the abusive pack she escaped from with her daughter they all decide there and then that they will do everything they can to find her daughter and then help her get revenge on the pack which she escaped from.

Claudia is overwhelmed with the offer of help from the most unlikely of allies, another werewolf pack and a coven of witches and guardedly accepts their help, but her feelings towards Max are confusing her as much as they are confusing him, when they are told that they are fated mates, but will Max be able to help Claudia to overcome the events of her past, or is she too damaged to acknowledge her mate and all that it entails? Will they be able to work together to find Claudia’s daughter and the pack she escaped from and what will happen if they do? This is a romance filled with family, friends, love and some despair which will drag you along on the journey within its pages to the final destination and the highs and lows which go along with it.

Supernatural books are like a second home to me. It is a world I love reading about, exploring and reliving over and over again. So finding this book, I had really high hopes and I wasn’t disappointed.
For me, this book is more than just about two different supernatural beings coming together. It is also a struggle about rebuilding and self discovery after a traumatic event. Sad as that part is in the book it felt needed. For this isn’t just a love story but more. Reading what the character went through.. it really added that extra element in not only grabbing your attention but watching some serious character growth.
Over all, I really loved this book and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett – Review by Naomi McDonald

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection, #2)Sleeping Angel by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sleeping Angel is the second book in the Soul Connection series. It can be read as a standalone, although Scott, the main character in the first book is present in this book as well. If you want to find out more about his story before you sink into this one, it’d be a good idea to read the first book.
I’m giving this book four stars for creativity. The story was an interesting take on the paranormal, but there was also a lot – A LOT – of things going on that you have to keep up with. In some ways that’s good because it builds suspense, but in some instances, it feels like too many layers and a bit convoluted. I feel like it would have been a great story if there hadn’t been so many directions to go on the surface and there had been one or two that were explored in more depth.

I was more than ready to dive into this book head first. After part one, I was left wanting more and I was not disappointed. Lillie has such a great relationship with these guys after feeling like she never belonged anywhere and it really speaks to your heart. Each guy has something different to bring to the table, but no one is prepared for what Lillie brings. I loved that there was some closure on some things in this book, but if it were to turn into a longer series, I’d definitely keep reading!

This book is an emotional read, and it made me laugh, cry, and hang off the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection, #2)Sleeping Angel by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the first book in this series…and I enjoyed this one just as much.

This story focuses on Logan and Angel. Logan lost his younger sister and is now an angry drunk. He holds a lot of anger towards one person…Angel. He believes Angel’s silence killed his sister. However, when he wakes up in the hospital after an accident, he will have to prove that he didn’t hate her enough to kill her.

Angel has this guilt within her because she believes she should have seen the signs that Andi was in trouble…but there weren’t any…right? Living with this guilt leaves her feeling, at times, that she could find a way to make it stop. When she finds herself in the hospital after an accident, she also finds herself in someone else’s body. Who’s body is it? And how does she get back to her own?

This story has A LOT going on. There are a lot of characters…and not all of them are living. Scott, from the first book, plays a role in this story as well. It is a story about guilt and forgiveness…and I enjoyed reading it. It is a longer book…but I couldn’t put it down.

So when Tamara takes in his wolf as a pet…he needs to find a way to change that…stat! When he starts making himself known to Tamara, he does whatever it will take to make him see that they are fated mates. But will Tamara let her guard down?

I enjoyed this story. I’m s sucker for a good wolf – paranormal romance. There were times I found myself frustrated with Tamara because she held on to her past hurt so tight that she couldn’t see past it. But I admire Josh’s persistence and loyalty. This was a good book that I enjoyed reading!

This is a quick read that takes place over the course of a couple of days…but there is a lot that goes on.

Without giving too much away (it is a quick read), Lillie has been raised to fear the Zayed. So when she comes across them, imagine her surprise when it is not fear that she feels. She feels that she belongs. However, a sorcerer is after her for what he thinks she can provide for him. However, once she is released, she finally gets what the sorcerer was after. Now she just has to figure out how she fits into the bigger picture.

This story ends in a cliffhanger…so I will definitely be checking out the next book ASAP! I was drawn in from the beginning. The wittiness and banter between characters is entertaining. And the descriptions were detailed enough that I could envision the world Lillie is in. Over, a good read!

Another fantastic book by Nikki Lynn Barrett rhat’s beautifully written. This time we have Logan and Angel’s story. Together with Scott, they hope to get back to normalish. There is a lot going on in this one, with more intrigue and twists, a thoroughly enjoyable read. How do you get over the murder of a loved one? You don’t but sometimes it overpowers your whole life. What a fantastic sequel to “Peaceful Slumber”. Nikki Lynn Barrett’s Soul Connection series is heart wrenching and a powerfully emotional read.

The House that Adelia Built AUDIO BOOK by Mya O’Malley – Review by Bobbi Wagner

This is  my first audible story by this author but I will say that it is my favorite.   I enjoyed this narrator and the story she told.  With this story it is like listening to two different stories in one.  I think the narrator did a good job of making the two stories separate but yet one and not confusing.  There are a few characters in this story that are lovable and connectable.  This story revolves around a lighthouse. The first couple moved there after they were married back in 1800. After a while he started changing and she was confused on why.  Then it brings us to the current day where you have Hope who is a woman who is a little lost and has low self esteem. She is having nightmares at night and is not sure what they mean. When she starts investigating why she is having these dreams, what will she uncover? There is something about the lighthouse that has drawn her to it.   She also meets a man who they spend quite a bit of time together. What will happen when they start developing feelings for each other? I enjoyed listening to  both stories about the past and the present.  I really enjoyed listening to this and I highly recommend it.

The House That Adelia Built by Mya O’Malley

Narrated by Vianna Vigneau

Four Stars

The House That Adelia Built is a Paranormal/ Romance/Mystery set in a lighthouse by Mya O’Malley. This is the second book I have listened to by Ms. O’Malley, and it is my new favorite. This book hooked me from the very first page. The dual stories were full of mystery and intrigue. Hope and Adelia’s characters really touched me. I love how the author jumped between the late 1800’s and present day. This story will pull on your heartstrings and have you rooting for Hope to learn to trust. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great romance, or an intriguing ghost story.

This is the first narration from Vianna Vigneau and I have to say she really makes this story pop. Her voice is easy on the ears, and she really helped me connect with the characters.

Sleeping Angel by Nikki Lynn Barrett a topsy turvy five-star read. This is number two in the Soul Connection series and they are both simply stunning stories. I don’t know what to put about this story as even the tiniest detail could spoil something, as this is one of those stories that you pick different things up depending on your mood. It is definitely going be one of my re-reads as it was beautifully written and just told such a great story and made me care about people, I really didn’t care for. Even if you don’t read paranormal I would still recommend this, as its not your typical story, its so much better.

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Mrs R

I am really enjoying this series. This is book 3, and although characters appear from previous books, you don’t need to have read them to enjoy this one.

Crimson is a witch with wonky magic and it just keeps getting her into trouble. Demon Mike has had his eye on Crimson for a while but hasn’t had the chance to act on it.

This romcom was just so lighthearted and easy to read, that I couldn’t help but enjoy it.

Holly Jackson is amazing at the narration, she just brings the characters to life. Using slightly different voices so you know who is talking.

An Unexpected Bonding: Book One of The Unexpected TrilogyAn Unexpected Bonding: Book One of The Unexpected Trilogy by Lilly Rayman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill typical Fantasy Romance, this story delivers the kind of twist of fate and heartache as the synopsis has given.

With knowing it is a trilogy, there is a lot to introduce and touch on in the first novel. Lilly did a great job with intertwining plots and characters smoothly; she is very creative in how she can move between different characters and their varying points of view. I did although; take the time re-read the first few chapters to ensure I did not confuse character plots or any of the story lines.

Lilly has created an intriguing variety of fantasy characters, which makes the novel hard to put down. She has definitely got me craving for more; I will be following this author!

Blue Summer Part One by Everly Taylor is a fantasy paranormal story that is a fast pace and quick read at 133 pages. The story is full of sexy blue men. Blue men sound familiar? It is full of drama and suspense, fantasy and romance, sarcasm and wit, and magic. The premise of the story is interesting but things seemed a little rushed. That could be because the timeline of this tale was only about 48 hours give or take but it felt like there could have been so much more to take it to the next level. Life’s A Witch Audio Book by Carrie Pulkinen is the third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. This is one so the most entertaining series that I have read and this book is no exception. Crimson is one of those characters that is so memorable and entertaining I could listen to this book just for her. She was brilliant when I was reading the book but listening to it she just came alive. I could picture her so much better and felt like you really got to feel her personality. I could so easily imagine everything from her mannerisms to try the way she spoke. For me this audio book was all about her. I am so glad that it is the same narrator for this book as it was was for the previous. She does such a great job of bringing the book to life and really makes it so easy to listen to. This is another brilliant success for one of my new favourite authors.
