Walk OffWalk Off by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Walk Off is the first book wonderful Ground Rule series. This is a beautiful second chance romance story. I am a fan of Bree’s storytelling and the ease in which she comes up with amazing yet complex characters. This book is well written and is emotional and intense at times. The story flows nicely and making it a quick and easy read.
The stories will keep you on your toes to see how things go and by the time you have finished you won’t be disappointed.
I can’t wait to see what Bree comes up with next.
This is Celia and Kyle’s story. They share a past one full of lies and pain. Now, after eight years both are back in in the same place.
Celia has been keeping secrets now sharing those secrets could cost her the man she has always loved. Kyle still loves her, but can he forgive the one secret that blows him away.

Stalked by the Devil by Stacy-Deanne is another thriller story in the To Kiss a Stalker series where the MCs are BWWM. Stacy-Deanne’s stories are fast paced and this one is no different.
It is full of suspense, intrigue, thrills and mayhem, crazy and a little darkness. Some things were a little predictable but overall, it was an interesting and enjoyable read. This will keep you on your toes at times.

I found this to be an interesting read. The rekindling of their romance brought on the newfound knowledge of their daughter. It was a nicely done second chance romance. I found the characters to be okay, a tad whiney but they were very relatable. The plot was fairly smooth and fast paced. This is a nice, quick read for those weekends spent in a quiet setting.

This is a fantastic romantic suspense. The Devil may come in any form, male or female. This story kept me in suspense as to who the true guilty party was. The characters run the gamut from sweet to sleazy and, man, I loved every one of them. The storyline had it’s moments but if you love romantic suspense, this is the one for you. Lovers of steam will be overjoyed at the touch of steam in this one also. Romance, suspense and drama abound. Will family and long awaited love win? You’ll have to read to find out.

Twisted Bond by Danielle Jacks – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such an interesting twist on werewolves, witches, and magic and I loved it!! The author spins this story around and it just catches you in it’s web. Twisted and stuck until you finish it. Like many books this one had me staying up a little extra just to finish it asap. A coven of witches twist magic to make a bond with a wolf coven. The wolves are now bonded to the moon and it’s phases and they don’t have a choice but to turn into a wolf with the moon. Rose, who is part of the wolf coven goes into the Dutchmen’s lands to steal the moonstone that binds both covens together to break the curse, but while she’s there she is under the watchful eye of not only the queen but also the prince. The queen is looking for a bride for the prince and not just anyone will do. She must be powerful and helpful to their responsibilities. He needs an heir and wife fast! Titan, the prince doesn’t want a wife, but he must do something. He is running out of time as his father slips away. His father, with the help of the moonstone is the current amplifier of the realm’s magic and it’s slowly poisoning him. Without the bond the realm’s magic will drop and the world with it will be in shambles. The prince must become the new holder for the gem, but he finds himself questioning everything. When the two of the meet something in them both changes. She’s attracted to his darkness and he’s not interested in his heart holding the realm together. Choosing their own paths might just be the end of them both. You need to check this book out! You will enjoy the twists and turns as much as I did. Plus the unique take on the supernatural world.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Beverly Finnie

ObedienceObedience by Liza Snow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed Obedience. I knew there’d be tension. I knew there’d be control. I even knew it would be forbidden fruit. What I didn’t know was that it was going to turn out the way it did.
The author wrote a beautifully painful story of struggle, control, tension. Sometimes there’s things in the world we can’t have, well at least that’s what we tell ourselves. And that’s exactly what Chandler is doing. He can try and justify it all he wants. Cassandra is my student, I’m too old for her, it could jeopardize my job. It’s all crap there’s a bigger issue at play. The question being:
Will that bigger issue be enough to keep from succumbing to his desires? And if not, can he keep her safe?
Cassandra idolized Chandler. He’s the reason she chose her career path. However the man runs so hot and cold, she can’t keep up. She wants him, but does he want her?
The character growth was written wonderfully, the question will always remain: Will they give into what they truly want?
This book caught me by surprise, I didn’t expect it to play out the way it did. But it worked and I can say I was satisfied to an extent. I’m looking forward to reading book 2. Now it’s time to look for other books by this offer, while you pick up/download/and start reading this book.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Shea Gilkerson 6/1/23

ObedienceObedience by Liza Snow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I didn’t really know what to expect out of this book, considering I have nearly zero knowledge of aerialists, silks, tricks, circus performers, etc. However, I know I didn’t expect two separately voiced POV scenarios that clearly gave a view of each different personality and the people in their lives, beautiful imagery, such great story and relationship building with such a wonderfully fleshed out array of characters…I really loved it!

Chandler is a world class silks aerialist in his family’s circus, as well as helps teach and mentor at the college they run to train the best of the best. The first half of the book is really how he’s losing it as his life falls apart. He just finalized his divorce after 20 years with his wife – who almost immediately married his best friend. Aging has him struggling to feel like he’s still “got it”, he feels numb, underwhelmed, or angry all the time, has been drinking too much, is nursing a repetitive knee injury, is struggling to focus and keep his partner safe in their silks act, and now his father has roped him into both sitting in for an auditioning process he doesn’t want to be a part of, and 6 months later, being forced to take over his ex wife’s classes suddenly at the college. He is constantly on edge and upon meeting Cassandra, becomes consumed with her. He drives himself mad trying to avoid her and not being able to stand being away from her. Will she turn out to be his saving grace? The one who learns all his secrets and still is by his side?

Cassandra is the daughter of performers herself, and upon seeing Chandler in one of his acts when she was a child, she immediately knew she wanted to do what he did. It consumed her life, practicing, reading up on his family and their circus, learning his routines, taking steps forward to end up exactly where she wanted to be – performing with Chandler in the silks under the big top. After a decade of struggling, she finally made it through college and to the audition process for Dreams Academy. Luckily, it happened to be the set of auditions that Chandler was forced to attend, and she wowed him with her abilities. Once she was accepted to the Academy, she was also hired as a TA and ended up being the TA to Chandler. She is constantly enamored with him, drawn to him, inspired by his talents while being either irritated with his surliness or very confused after feeling she was getting closer to him. Chandler obviously has some secrets, but she has her own and intent on protecting them. Will she be able to protect her heart from Chandler?

Deception by Victoria Saccenti – Review by Alisa Boomer

Deception (Central Florida Stories, #1)Deception by Victoria Saccenti
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wasn’t sure how Deception would play out but I was wonderfully surprised! Our hero has his eyes set on revenge to satisfy the anger and hatred in gis heart. Unfortunately, it is directed at our heroine! Rather than gloss over the warring emotions and complication of this tale, Saccenti takes the bull by the horns! She deftly navigates complex characters and a narrative that develops quite organically. And rather than focus on only the intense physical chemistry between the main characters, she pays the soul connection its due most beautifully!

Underneath The Whiskey by Chelsea Lauren – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Underneath The WhiskeyUnderneath The Whiskey by Chelsea Lauren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Underneath the Whiskey is a gut-wrenching tale of a man who is struggling with his sexuality and feels compelled to be what society and his wife expect him to be. Benjamin is a successful businessman with a wife and young children. On the outside he seemingly has everything, but appearances can be deceiving. His marriage is more of a charade, and he has tried to force himself to be the man that his wife wants him to be. He went to conversion therapy as his wife insisted and was “cured” of his homosexuality after he had a brief affair with another man. Benjamin wanted to leave his wife but was unable to because she became pregnant, and he felt obligated to stay and care for her and the baby. Instead, he stayed, went to therapy, and forced himself to be happy in the life he had. Benjamin placed his time, focus, and energy into starting his dream business of owning a coffee shop.

Benjamin’s coffee shop business is thriving, with several locations now open, and he needs to hire a manager to help run the daily operations. This is when he meets Caden, who applies for the position of manager. Benjamin feels attracted to Caden and the two have an instant connection and he no longer must hide who he is. As the two spend time together and carry on a secret affair Benjamin finds himself conflicted with the double lives he is living. Both men have issues and baggage that they must work through as Benjamin is forced to face the demons from his past. Will Benjamin continue leading a double life? Will he finally leave his wife and come out of the closet?

This was a heart-wrenching and compelling read that had me riveted to the end. The storyline and scenes were well written, and the characters were ones that you instantly feel a connection to. Benjamin was a man that was unhappy in his life but felt obligated to stay out of a sense of duty to provide for his wife and children. He struggled with his sexuality, but his wife and therapist told him that he was wrong to feel that way and that his affair with another man was a mistake. This story was not full of sunshine and lollipops as Benjamin struggled through self-doubt, he sinks into despair, begins to drink to take the edge off, and starts to spiral out of control. Crippled by fear, doubt, insecurity, and familial obligation, Benjamin begins to hit rock bottom. This book may have triggers for some as it dealt with issues like alcoholism, suicidal thoughts, mental illness, conversion therapy, and abuse. It was filled with raw emotions that will take you on a rollercoaster ride and have you reaching for the Kleenex. I highly recommend!

Underneath The WhiskeyUnderneath The Whiskey by Chelsea Lauren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Underneath The Whiskey by Chelsea Lauren. This genre is not usually my favorite but this book is so well written I loved it. Its the story of a guy named Ben who is married with kids and has a booming business. He seems like every other guy but inside he’s dying. Ben is gay but hasn’t been able to come out to anyone. His wife now knows but he told her he would stay married to her and take care of her and their child. His wife thinks she can change him with therapy and when he goes to therapy he gets brainwashed enough that he thinks he’s changed. Enter Caden, Ben hires Caden to run one of his new stores and he’s young, single and openly gay. Ben begins to have feelings for Caden. Not just friendly feelings either, as they spend more time together they fall in love and ease into a secret relationship. With pressure from Caden to tell his wife the truth and pressures of owning his booming business and coming out as gay he begins to drink and drink heavily. Will Ben be able to live his life completely happy and tell everyone the truth or will the alcohol ruin it all. This is a wonderful read that is so emotional on a deep level.

Breathless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 3) by KG Fletcher – Review by Wendy Wary

Breathless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #3)Breathless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’m conflicted on this book because the romance parts are way too cheesy for my tastes (think Hallmark channel sweetness), but the story parts that aren’t focused on romance were really well written and definitely had me feeling emotional. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it felt like she decided to take a great story line and force this fairy tale like romance that didn’t come off very realistically. I don’t know if that’s just her style, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea; my mom, who lives for Hallmark movies, probably would love this, though. I enjoyed the characters, but struggled with how fast paced Hank and Ella Mae declared their love for each other and some of the more steamy parts between them were a bit over the top for me.

Together these two had so much chemistry and I loved reading their story.

Cecily in the City (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 3) by Krysten Lindsay Hager – Review by Wendy Wary

Cecily in the CityCecily in the City by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I picked this one up not having read other books in the series and now I’m going back to read those, too. The characters are fantastic and even though the story itself is not anything relatable to the average person (hello, pop stars, models, and fashion designers!), the struggles, life choices, and relationships are very much so. And for characters that are younger, they act very mature, which I could see making a positive influence on the young adult readers. Cecily and her friends are fun and supportive as they navigate plans for their future out of high school, and Cecily herself learns some life lessons about the entertainment business and that you can’t trust everyone, even when you’re a nobody just getting your feet wet.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Christie Mitchum

ObedienceObedience by Liza Snow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Obedience is a dark romantic suspense unlike anything I have read before, and I mean that in the most positive way!

I have to be honest and disclose that this book is not the usual romance that I read, but I was intrigued when I read the synopsis. It didn’t disappoint; I was drawn into the book from the very first pages. Cassandra has admired Chandler for many, many years, and she finally gets her chance to be his student. She knew it would be an extraordinary opportunity, but what she didn’t expect was the attraction and pull she felt towards him.

Chandler is tempted by Cassandra, but he knows she is his student, and he must keep those boundaries intact. As time passes, those boundaries are getting harder to maintain. He feels the same pull that Cassandra does. Yet, both have secrets that threaten any future they may have dreamed about.

I enjoyed the romance, but I enjoyed the suspenseful twists and turns just as much. The story was both character driven and plot driven. Snow’s writing was gorgeous and descriptive. She drew me into a world I didn’t even know existed, and I fell in love with it.

If you are looking for something completely different and unexpected, you need to give this little gem a try! Hopefully, you will find it just as darkly beautiful as I did.

Bound by the Hinterlands by Bree M. Lewandowski – Review by Angela Hayes

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Bound by the Hinterlands by Bree M. Lewandowski is a wonderfully woven fantasy that had me invested right from the get-go. This isn’t the first book that I have read by Ms. Lewandowski, but it is probably my favourite (so far). Her books just seem to get better with each new release- and this book had all the ingredients I love to find in a captivating fantasy. From drama, family dynamics, mystery, danger, tension, suspense, action, adventure, agendas, plots, bonds, banter, duty + responsibility, an arranged marriage, forced proximity, emotion, romance, and finding love unexpectedly.
I love Ms. Lewandowski’s vivid world-building, her attention to detail and wonderful descriptions really brought her world, and story, to life. From the clothing, to customs, and even the language and phrasing (which at first seemed a little formal and ‘old fashioned’, but actually helped build the atmosphere/feel of the story)- all the components blended together to make this quite an immersive read.
After a lifetime of her father’s controlling, cold, and callous ways Cressida yearns to make her own way in life, and fate finally seems to be on her side. With her father’s failing health, his time is limited, and Cressida can finally see her ‘freedom’- it’s almost within her reach. But, even with death knocking on the door, her father still manages to put a rather large wrench in her plans by arranging (forcing) her marriage to Caravahl Alzeid, Baron of the Hinterlands. And so, her adventure begins. Add some darker tones, a little mysteriousness, sinister intent, drama, discovery, secrets, and danger- and the story takes an even more intriguing turn.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Lewandowski has up her sleeve for us next.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Bree M. Lewandowski!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

Underneath The Whiskey by Chelsea Lauren is the first book that I have read by her. It proved to be an interesting New Adult story- an MM romance packed full of emotion, angst, and drama. The story contains some sensitive topics that may be triggering for some readers- subjects such as alcohol abuse/addiction, suicidal thoughts, violence, past conversion therapy + electroshock therapy, mental illness, struggles, challenges, and sexual abuse – so if have issues with any of these topics, then this is probably not the book for you.
I may not have ‘liked’ the behaviour of our MC/s at times, but I understood why they were like that, and I really felt for them and everything they had been through. Having endured what they did, but then living a lie, to deny who they truly are, and then basically forced to live a double life and not being true to themselves- I can fully understand the mental anguish and toll that took on their emotional and mental health, and their downward spiral. So, if you were expecting a light, fluffy, boy meets boy and the birds start singing type story, then you are going to be disappointed- because this is raw, gritty, angsty, thought-provoking, and confronting —— but it is also much more.
Now I am off to see what else I can find of Ms. Lauren’s to explore.

Happy Reading…

Thank you, Chelsea Lauren!

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This story is raw, gut wrenching and truly a roller coaster of emotion. Overall a really good story that I know hits home.

Emotions are high between Benjamin, Sophia and Caden…trying to navigate life, family and true feelings…sometimes just doing what has to be done day to day. Ben and Sophia are trying to raise their family the best way possible, but Ben also has turmoil within, struggling with his sexuality.
Ben believes that having a successful family after being made to go through torcherous therapy per Sophia is what he has to do. Everything changes when Ben meets Caden…..at first Ben hiring Caden on with his company but it turns into something more. When lies turn into more lies of Ben struggling to be with Sophia and Caden at the same time….the inner emotional turmoil comes to a full boil.

Will Ben be able to overcome and be truthful with both Sophia and Caden about his sexuality and stop hurting all that want to love him back?

This story is a lot of ups and downs, the heartbreaks, lies, abuse…..this was a very good story….

Breathless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #3)Breathless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Breathless Love is the third book in The Bennetts of Langston Falls series. This can be read as a standalone and wholly enjoyed. This book focuses on Hank Bennett, who dreams of a life in country music. Ella Mae is on tour with her brother, Travis, a successful country singer. Will Hank realize his dreams, or will reality crush them?
I was excited to get to read another story about the Bennetts. Hank has been a fun character in previous books and has become the show’s star. I enjoyed Ella Mae and how she shared so much in common with Hank. I was rooting for them to find a happily ever after. This was a lovely story and gave a behind-the-scenes view of musicians on tour. I liked the show of how it is much work and not all fun and glamour. Like the other books in this series, we get reminded that family can have your back through the worst times and that life isn’t always picture-perfect.
I look forward to reading more from this author shortly.

Cressida’s father is not one for affection. In fact, he is downright abusive. As his health is failing, she begins to see a glimmer of freedom at the end of a very long and stressful tunnel that has been her life for twenty-five years. However, just as she thinks that she will be free of her life of burden, she has the rug pulled out from under her once again. She finds out that she has been betrothed to someone and it is not just anyone either, but the ruler of the neighboring county in the Hinterlands, Baron Caravahl Alzeid. The Hinterlands are known for their strange, creepy woods that surrounds the keep. Stories that are shared of it are ones that give children nightmares, and she is going to live there and help rule.

Once married and on their way, Cressida finds that while the rumors of the Hinterlands are partially true, she is pleasantly surprised to find the Baron is actually a man of honor who loves his county and people dearly. She discovers that she is happy to be his helpmate in preparing for unexpected guests and in all things to help with the county’s residents. As more background about the Hinterlands comes to light, there comes a point where a choice has to be made by the baron. Can he share all things that ruling the county comes with or will Cressida falter and flee in fear? Can they trust each other implicitly with each other’s hearts and break the curse of the land or will they be doomed in the demise of the land?

I enjoyed this read! It was quick and easy to get into and feel like a part of the story. There were sad parts of the story where I just wanted to give Cressida a great big hug and times where I wanted to cheer for her. She’s a spunky character that doesn’t let her upbringing dictate her future. She takes charge, as much as she can at times, and always works for the betterment of others. I feel like the author did a wonderful job of having them fall in love in the right time and not be over the top about it.

This is a fast paced story where the characters pull you into their world and keep you coming back for more. They made it easy and entertaining to read. They also made it realistic and I had no problems connecting with them. Great chemistry and growth throughout the story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Marnie and her matchmaking was quite hilarious and profound. The characters are well-written for teens. Angsty, anxious with some ADHD tossed in and shake to make some cool teens. I loved the story because it’s relatable even to us old people. The story is refreshing. It’s written with humor and fun. A quick and entertaining read.

Bound by the Hinterlands is a beautifully written fantasy romance story that will have you intrigued from the first page. The storyline is captivating, and the scenes are vividly described which draws you into the story along with the characters. The characters are well written, and ones that you will either love or hate. Cressida is someone that you instantly feel a connection with and want to save from her father. Cressida’s father is someone that you instantly dislike because of the horrid way he treats his daughter.

The story centers around Cressida who has been forced into an arranged marriage by her abusive and controlling father. Trying to keep communication of family back home. Gives you an insight of how real “Hollywood” could be. I devoured this book! I need the entire series go read!!

This author truly understands what it means to build a world you can get lost in, as well as characters you can fall in love with, or hate, if that’s what you’re into. The story is very well written. It flows wonderfully, You truly get pulled into this world and find yourself feeling a bit sad when it’s time to leave. If you’re looking for a fantasy book and MM/LGBTQ is okay for you, I absolutely recommend this book!

Lorenzo and Izzy have a tale to tell that’s for sure 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Izzy , a journalist has been writing about the mafia for years and she’s no stranger to the family and it’s rules , her dad was part of the family and even went to jail for the family and would for nothing in the world betray them ….

When Izzy finds herself in trouble it’s Lorenzo that comes to her rescue , things get a little grey and she runs from him but hello has her years taught her nothing !? Once you’re theirs wild horses can’t keep them away 🫶🏼

Once again Lorenzo comes to her rescue but all is not as it seems and Izzy finds herself in a very dangerous situation …..

My nerves were shattered but I enjoyed every moment ! What’s better that a mafia leading man and some tense moments 🔥😉

This was a fantastic book. It’s a paranormal romance which kind of isn’t the normal type of book I read. but this book really was impressive. The characters and settings were extremely well written that it makes you feel like you know the characters and seeing everything that everyone else is seeing. The story line or plot really flowed and draws you into the book that you honestly can not get enough of it. the way the story flows and unfolds really made it super easy to follow along and know what was going on and happening. The love between the two characters really grows on you and to each other. This was a really great read.
