Afflicted Love (Rhythm & Heart Series) by Autumn Sand – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Afflicted LoveAfflicted Love by Autumn Sand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Afflicted Love is the first book in the Rhythm & Heart series and it is a MM dark romance. This emotion filled book kept me intrigued but also kind of ping ponged back and forth with enough angst, i got whiplash. Other than that I thought it was a good but dark book that goes through the many hard emotions and pain that the main characters experience. I enjoyed this authors writing style and the story overall even if it ended in a massive cliffhanger that left me with a lot of questions but eager to read more. I would recommend this to someone that like a more angsty dark read!
Looking forward to more by this author!

I absolutely love this series. It has everything you could want from a romance book. I read this book in no time just like the others in the series. It is quick to grab and hold your attention throughout the entire book. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.

This was a great start to a new series. I read this quickly as it had me completely engrossed. I really enjoyed the twists throughout, I wasn’t expecting that. It was also very easy to relate to the characters, especially Riley for me. I definitely recommend this author and I can’t wait to check out her other books.

This is a new series for me and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. Reaper is the president of the MC club, he falls for her the moment he sees her for the first time but she’s married. Her husband is a bad guy, he is abusive and an Alcoholic. Ava ends up contacting her sister who is connected to the club and that is how she and reaper collide. This time he is determined to keep her and not let her go. Such a really good read, definitely going to read the next book.

This was a good story! I enjoyed it, but as not as much as I really wanted to. The synopsis showed a lot of promise and I was very excited to read this. However, a lot of the names were hard to pronounce and it was difficult for me to keep everything together in my head. I think I had an off reading day, and just wasn’t in the mood for this particular story however. It was very interesting though, and I had a lot of different elements that I haven’t seen in a story before.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

Chandler is an aerialist who is looking for the perfect student to mentor. Little did he realize that Cassandra was also looking for the perfect teacher. The lines get crossed in this story, they fall in love with one another. I didn’t really know what to think when I first started reading this story. This is the first book in this series of The Ties that Bind. I am not normally into romantic storylines. I feel like there too cheesy. However this story is nothing like that at least in my opinion. You can either read the book or listen to it. I normally read books but I am wondering if I would like the audio version as well. It’s your turn to try it now. Let me know if you prefer reading or listening.

Reaper (War Brothers MC, #1)Reaper by Bianca Lee Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my first read by Bianca Lee Ward, but it is certainly not going to be the last. Reaper is the first installment of the War Brothers MC series, and it’s off to a great start! I really enjoyed the amount of action, chemistry and steam that comes with many MC stories. It starts off a little slow, but don’t toss it aside because it really picks up. Once you get a bit invested, you’ll breeze through it and want even more! I think the author did great on the flow of the story even though it starts off slow. It may just have been an off day for me, but it absolutely captivated me after a while, and now I can’t wait for the second book in the series. If you love the dangerous, steamy action of the MC genre, you will fall in love with this one!

Reaper (War Brothers MC, #1)Reaper by Bianca Lee Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A captivating MC romance which had me hooked from page one. Reaper is the president of the War Brothers Motorcycle Club, and when Ava, the one women he’s ever wanted, turns up at his clubhouse seeking refuge from her abusive husband he’s not going to let her go again. Reaper is angered by the bruises on Ava’s face but also by the fear in her eyes, however, as an ex special forces sniper he’s used to hunting down evil men. Reaper avoids relationships due to the wounds he has left over from his sniper days, which are more than skin deep, but when he finds Ava in his bedroom he’s determined not to make the same mistake twice.
He let her go once before because she was married and so didn’t belong to him, but now she does. As Reaper and Ava’s relationship develops they have to deal with her dangerous husband, the jealous women in the club, and then an enemy the MC didn’t see coming. This is a slow burn romance which introduces us to Reaper and Ava, who’s chemistry really comes across in the narrative. The storyline is full of drama, suspense and romance whilst dealing with the difficult subject of domestic violence sensitively. The descriptive narrative really brought the world of the War Brothers MC, and it’s members vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story and engaged with the characters. I look forward to the other members getting their own stories.

At the wedding for one of his War Brothers MC brothers, Reaper sees the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with, Ava. Ava though is married and as much Reaper senses that not all is as it seems, Reaper lets her go. A year later Ava has contacted her sister who is married to Axle and needs help, she has been beaten and looking to get away from her marriage. Reaper lets her stay with the MC but he also takes his time to earn her trust, could she accept him in her life when she is ready to move on?

I thought this was a great beginning to a new series. Action packed, great characters for future books. Ava grows strong in this book and takes charge of her life, had some funny moments too.

This was a good read. It’s not my typical genre, but I liked the magical/fantasy aspect of it. I enjoyed being able to see the dual view points between Huli and Xiao as well as the way their relationship evolves and develops. It did take me quiet a while to get into the story and I wish the world building was done a little better. I felt parts of the plot were rushed and it does end on a cliffhanger. This is a MM romance. I would recommend this book, but I feel that there were parts that could have been done better.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was a bit surprised by this story. The depth of feeling, the exposure to trauma, the direction of the story. There was just so much to appreciate. The only thing that I can’t take was the way it ended. How could Lyle do that? How could the author do that to me?!?!

This is the story of Kyle and Lyle. Brothers by heart and not by blood. Kyle grew up hard and fast. His mother died when he was very young. His father was not a good man. One day Kyle was at the playground when he saw a younger boy getting bullied. Kyle stepped up and defended that boy, Lyle. From that day forward Kyle and Lyle were inseparable. Unfortunately, Lyle’s life was not much different from Kyle’s. The only difference was that Lyle’s mom was still around until he was 12, Kyle was 14.

When Lyle’s dad found out about the relationship between Lyle and Kyle that had changed from more than just brothers, Kyle was kicked out. This was the first time Lyle felt Kyle’s abandonment. As Lyle and Kyle grew older, Lyle continued to deny his feelings towards Kyle because of all the horrible things Lyle’s dad had screamed at him for years after Kyle left. Kyle and Lyle had a huge fight, each saying some things they didn’t mean but it ended with them not talking. Now, their dad has died and it is time to go home to finally put him to rest.

Can Kyle and Lyle come together after 4 years apart to put everything behind them and move on? Will they destroy each other in the process?

This beautiful story of love, recovery, and family will touch you down to your soul. I suffered through a long day at work after a short night because I could not put this book down. I was gutted after each verbal argument. It was hard to watch Kyle walk away. It was even worse to see Lyle’s choices. I am still not sure all the pieces are put back together after the shattering ending. I can only hope the heart will mend after the next one. Phenomenal.

I love it when I find a new authors work to read and I was so impressed by this book! MC stories are one of my favourite to read, I love an alpha male and the MC alpha males always seem to be the best – super protective and loyal! Reaper was no exception to this rule – I knew as soon as I started to read about him I was going to love his character. There was such a great connection between him and Ava and I was completely rooting for them the whole way through. I liked that their romance was a slow burn one I think it suited them. I thought this this was a great start to a new series and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

OMG I LOVED this book! From beginning to end I was completely hooked by what I was reading. I’ve read so many of this authors book now that I don’t even bother reading the synopsis I just grab and start reading and as per usual I was not disappointed. I honestly don’t know how she does it every time I say that’s my favourite until I read the next one! This book was just fantastic, this book is definitely dark and delicious from the very start. Lorenzo and Izzy’s story was amazing, she was definitely a match for him and I loved that about the two characters.
This book could be read as a standalone but I would 100% recommend reading them in order, you won’t be disappointed!!

This amazingly talented author simply never ever disappoints! This book is yet another example of her creativity and talent. It is raw, emotional and will keep you hooked all the way through as long as a push and pull type storyline is your cup of tea. Hell even if it isn’t your usual go to give this book a read. These two characters, brought together and bonded over violence, who fight their attraction for each other, will draw you in even when your heart wants to break for them at times. I will say it ends on a cliff hanger so be prepared.

I did nothing but read this book since yesterday. Determined to finish it. I had so many questions and my curiosity had to be fulfilled. Zoey is amazing. The way she protects her loved ones. I can see why she had a hard time letting anyone in. Tristan took me a bit to warm up to. On one hand I understand his desire to take some of that burden away from Zoey but at times it came off forceful.

Amazing. This is the first book I have read by the talented Amanda Uhl, and I found myself up way too late this morning unable to put it down. Told from the dual perspectives of Lillian and Tristan, this book is sure to make you fall in love from start to finish with the characters.
Lillian Milano has been hiding under an alias for two years, Zoey Mills, away from her family alone to protect them. When her younger sister Hannah is suddenly sick with a deadly virus, she risks everything to return to Cleveland to help her. While at the hospital doing all that she can she meets the computer tycoon Tristan King, while leaving the room of a little girl. Tristan King is the most eligible bachelor in Cleveland but meeting the mysterious Zoey gives him a mystery to solve that will forever change both of their lives. The connection between them is instant, neither understanding why they are so willing to share things that they usually keep bottled up. Tristan, while skeptical, is willing to take a chance when evidence is in front of him in two cases that Zoey (Lillian) is more than she appears to be and truly has some kind of gift for healing the sick. What starts out as a confusing but mutually beneficial agreement quickly turns into something deeper. Lillian’s mother was murdered by Kinetica, a genetic research and testing company that used her mother trying to make “super healers”, but she escaped leading them to finish her off but not before she was able to warn Lillian who fled her home and her family. Tristan being so focused on her notices that she is frightened and not just about her “friend”, seeing her physically become ill with fear when face to face with Dominic Raines the CEO of Kinetica he begins to have more and more questions calling his security company and friend Brian Townsend to investigate her. Leading to even more questions which are tangled with their deep feelings that build.
Lillian can save her sister but what will happen next? Has Tristan found a miracle worker that can help his mother? Will Zoey (Lillian) and Tristan be able to give into their hearts desires and get a happily ever after that neither thought was possible? While the world the author creates is one of reality the sprinkles of the paranormal and supernatural leaves you searching for more answers. The characters are perfect, their different facets that make them more complex than they appear on the surface, the way both felt the same, but fear and skepticism kept them trying to deny their hearts. I could not get enough of this book and didn’t stop until I had reached the end with all the answers we were searching for. I can’t wait to read more from the amazing Amanda Uhl and look forward to Hannah and Brian’s story.

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is a sweet, small town romance filled with love, sass, fake engagement and definite two wounded souls and it gave me all the feels. This was an easy read and quite enjoyable.

Ivy is trying to save her own ranch, being independent and on her own, definitely not getting any respect from some of the other male clientele from the work that she does on her farm. Having a helping hand from Ace, a former marine, both Ivy and Ace are trying to work hard to get Ivy’s farm noticed. When a stingy snob tries to offer Ivy money for her farm, Ace steps in and helps Ivy but also announces their “engagement”. How will this new engagement play out as Ace and Ivy then try to navigate their feelings toward each…especially when both Ivy and Ace have their own past hurts that still haunt them.

I loved the chemistry between Ivy and Ace…it felt so raw and real…..the protectiveness of Ivy’s brother and I also loved Ace’s mother Liz. Great story and looking forward to reading more!

This story about Ivy and Ace is quite adorable. Ivy is trying to save her ranch from sexist clients. In steps Ace with a hair-brained idea of a fake engagement to help her out. Ace is a former Marine with some external and internal scars from being in the war. Ace is always driving Ivy nuts by constantly trying to save her when she feels like she doesn’t need to be saved. Ivy gets under Ace’s skin by accepting him for his shortcomings and scars. The constant back and forth between the two is absolutely adorable, and made me giggle a few times here and there. Its a cute story that pulls you in from page one and holds you until the end.

Lillian Milano isn’t like most paranormals in her world. She takes energy from the healthy to help heal the sick. This power puts a target straight on her back and puts her and everyone she loves in danger. All of her fears are put on hold when her sister becomes deathly ill, and she’ll do anything to help heal her.

Tristan King is, in short, a billionaire. After being burned by his ex, and with his mother dying, he doesn’t want or need another relationship.

Tristan is so full of life and energy, exactly the energy Lillian needs, and she’s got something he needs as well: a single night with no attachments to get his ex off his back.

I devoured this book. It was so fast paced, emotional, humorous, and full of excitement. I really hope this is the start of a series, because I’d love to read more in this universe!

Lillian is so loving and caring for everyone around her and Tristan is so calm and collected. The two balance one another out nicely. Definitely a great read, I’d recommend to anyone who loves the paranormal!

Savage Truth (Hidden Valley Elite Book 2) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Jessica Stone

I am ABSOLUTELY in love with the series, I cannot express how pumped I am to read the rest of these, this is easily becoming one of my favorite series.

This is book two in this series and it concludes Cole and Riley’s story, the next book focuses on his younger brother Damon and while I’m excited, I can’t help but feel a bit sad.
Now into the characters, I love Cole and his character development over the last two books but this book especially, you get more of a feel about who he is and you get a look into his emotions. Riley, was kinda a pain in my butt at first, she (in a sense) felt slightly entitled to me, she was quick to anger and jump to her own conclusions but I loved watching her character growing up in this book and seeing her relationship with Cole evolve was fun. I loved the push pull of it, the spicy, the force of their attraction and how it became undeniable for them.

What I didn’t see coming because there wasn’t as much in the first book was the action and suspense, holy cow, there was so much more to the story and everything that happened in the past and that all really comes to light in this book. Cole and Riley sucked me in, but the action in this book left me wanting more. I almost can’t explain it without giving the whole book away.
Anyways, Isla is a wonderful author, she knows how to build a story and give you just enough to keep you coming back for more. Can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for this series!
