Little Miss Eyes Of Blue By Holly Tierney-Bedord – Review by Tausha Treadway

Little Miss Eyes of BlueLittle Miss Eyes of Blue by Holly Tierney-Bedord
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Little Miss Eyes of Blue by Holly Tierney-Bedord. This is the prequel to The Woman American Loves a Latte. This is such a true portrayal of a dysfunctional family. Veloura’s parents are not the best parents her dad is a songwriter and her mom is a drug addict. This story digs in to Vee’s beginning and her parents love story. They met in 1977 when Paul walks into the diner Marla works at. He finally wears her down and she goes out with him. He falls head over heels and she is half way into it at best. Paul quits his job after they marry to write music and finally has a song released he wrote about Veloura called Little Miss Eyes Of Blue. Marla becomes more strung out over the years and mean to Veloura. They are so preoccupied with their own problems they totally forget about Veloura but fortunately she has friends, neighbors willing to help her. I loved this book and and Holly Tierney-Bedord has become one of my favorite authors.

A Person Could Disappear HereA Person Could Disappear Here by Terri George
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Person Could Disappear Here by Terri George. This book is amazing. It hooks you as soon as you read the first chapter. Its the story of Abbey who lives in London and just like every other young girl in the world is looking for love. She meets a guy named Jensen from Denver on Facebook who she corresponds with for a lengthy period of time. He finally convinces her to fly to Denver to meet him.. Her best friend and flat mate Christina is totally against this. Once Abbey gets to Denver and meets Jensen he seems to be everything she’s looking for until he’s not. Parts of the book are brutal but so true to life. This is something that could happen in today’s crazy world. Its about friendship and the depths that a friend will go to in order to save her friend. This book was amazing and I read it in one sitting. I’m going to look up all Ms. George’s books and read them.

WTF, God: Understanding God in the Midst of Transition by Michele Onuorah. This is the story of Michelle Onuorah who by the age of 22 thought she had the world by the tail and her life all planned out and what happens when she realizes nothing ever goes according to plan. This book is a quick and funny read. I was very wary of the book but I actually loved it. It’s basically the story of a young girl who thinks her life will turn out one way and of course it doesn’t. It tells the time old story that our lives are not written in stone and many things will happen to us, some good, some bad, but we always have to get back up and start over. Michelle shares with us the 10 life lessons she’s learned about God and teaches us that it’s ok to worship God and still question Him. I really enjoyed this short read.
