The Fish that Climbed the Tree by Kevin Ansbro a four-star read that will stay with you. I have finished this one, but I know I haven’t stopped thinking about it. This one will stop you in your tracks and will suck you in from the start, its very complex and has a lot and I mean a lot going on but it works and will surprise you. It is an odd one as its dark but there is a lightness as well, this really is a novel of different sides, good, bad and evil. I will definitely be looking out for more from this author.

Wow this book is a complex and complete journey that I did not see coming whatsoever with what we are given on the blurbs. I will admit though, I was a bit unclear on a lot of things as this was a completely new experience reading anything from Kevin Ansbro. I am glad that I dove it however, as this story really was dynamic and multidimensional, one that will stick with me for quite awhile I am sure.
This book is quite difficult to try and summarize, we really get so much. Everything is explored about good and evil that walks among us as we live our daily lives. There is dabbling is discussing the afterlife and what will come. Kevin Ansbro delves into the several evils, ranging from the difficult discussion of rape all the way to murder and then delves into how this is processed and dealt with by each of the characters. It is one that will leave you on the edge of your seat as you try to piece all the components of the puzzle together and figure out what you will get from reading this novel. I will be looking forward to seeing what else is available from Mr. Ansbro now and what may come from him in the future. I can only imagine it will be one to make me think and ponder as well.

The Fish that Climbed a Tree by Kevin Ansbro was a well written, rollercoaster read, that had me hooked.
My first read from this author, I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into. This was a different read for me, and even though it’s in that urban fantasy realm that I love, it was still a different branch, and a little out of my normal comfort zone.
This dark read was highly well written and detailed. It was rich, lush and picturesque, it felt like you were there and apart of the story. I love the split dynamic between the dad and son. It was an intriguing parallel and something I haven’t come across. I love finding unique reads like this, as it breaks up the normal formats and sparks that reading fire. This book is one of a kind, and if the author’s other works is anything like this one, then I’m going to be adding to my summer reading list.
Overall this book is a must read, it will hook you, pull on your heart strings, while having you on the edge of your seat. So please take my super high recommedantion and my stamp of approval that you will not be disappointed in this gem.

The Fish That Climbed a Tree by Kevin Ansbro is a fascinating read. I was not sure what to expect from this book after reading the synopsis but intrigued. I am so glad I did. The story is well told and the characters are great. I was drawn into the story and did not want to put this down. There is so much to say but I do not want to wreck any of the book for another reader. This reminded me of books from Doyle and Dickens but with a modern twist to the story telling. I am so glad I picked this up and will be telling my family about this book. I am still processing the story and so am at a loss for words at the moment. My advice is if you are intrigued by the synopsis then pick this up and you will not be disappointed.

The Fish That Climbed a Tree by Kevin Ansbro is a book so detailed and beautifully written that I almost wouldn’t care what the story is, I was just so taken by his way for writing. As it happens the story was brilliantly created that I was drawn in by that as well. This is an entirely new author to me and I have to admit I was a bit conflicted going in to this book. I loved the description and how unique and interesting the story sounded. However I found myself a little put off by the cover of the book. If there is ever a book that the old adage “don’t judge a book by its cover” applies to, for me it is definitely this one. Once you open the pages and start reading you are hooked. The author gives such vivid descriptions that it really feels like you are right there with all the characters. This book is one that definitely needs to be on your must read list this year!

“Rather than simply being the fish that swims to the shore, you have to believe that you can be the fish that climbs a tree.”
The Fish that Climbed a Tree is the first book that I have read by Kevin Ansbro, and after today, it certainly won’t be my last. What a surprisingly memorable story this has proven to be, and nothing like I had expected- not that I really know what I was expecting, except to say that the title intrigued me enough to want to find out what it was all about. I discovered along the way that Mr. Ansbro has a very detailed and descriptive style, which showcases his clever and imaginative storytelling. There is a lot going on in this book, in a great way- I was hooked very early on and remain engaged throughout the tale. It’s full of vivid imagery- weaving a tale of life, death, humanity, the afterlife, murder, mystery, violence, friendship, emotion, humour, good & evil, tragedy, heartache, mysticism, faith, love, redemption, history, literary and pop cultural references & icons, and plenty of thought provoking moments. The story is written in such a way that it is entirely realistic and believable- with a touch of the dark and disturbing- this is so much more than just a murder mystery, or a bit of a ‘ghost’ story- and while the story itself is quite intriguing, it is the characters who really drove this story. They are all so well thought out and crafted- they’re fully realised individuals with their own particular quirks and flaws… so well done! This story has stayed with me long after I had finished, I continue to ponder it , and for me that is a sure sign of a great book. Looking forward to more from Mr. Ansbro in the future.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author so I had no idea what to expect. This was definitely out my normal wheelhouse so it took me a little bit to get the pacing of the story down.
It is like poetry. Sometimes it is literal and other times figurative, but it is always visually written. The character development is fantastic and I was invested through most of the story. There were a few times I sat back to think about what I read and then re-read it to understand where it was coming from. Again, definitely not my typical read.
I found this story interesting and thought provoking and I absolutely recommend it.

Kevin Ansbro is a new author to me and the title The Fish that Climbed a Tree just peaked my interest and I knew I would have to read it. I am glad I did. Ansbro has created a funny but serious in nature. The characters are enjoyable and I found myself talking to Henry as if he could hear me. Henry’s father, Reverend Drummond is murdered and Henry was left behind. Rev. Drummond does his best to navigate the afterlife. Henry. who is a simple kid who loves books and writing needs to be careful of the people around him now. Will Rev. Drummond be able to take ahold of his afterlife? Will Henry be able to see people for who they are so he does not fall to evil? This story will hold your interest from the first page to the last page.

This was a really interesting book to read – I have to admit it probably has one of the least attractive front covers I’ve ever seen however I’m also one of those readers that knows not to judge a book by its cover and I was intrigued by the blurb so I thought I would give the book a go. My interest was captured straight away with the unique storyline and equally as unique characters. Henry’s story was really interesting to read and the author did a great job with making sure he was a likeable and realistic character. The author’s writing was flawless and I found that I was very engaged in what I was reading. This was a great introduction to this new author for me. I would absolutely recommend this book to other readers, it is well written with fantastic characters!

This is full of action and suspense. Every page I turn there is something else happening. Will Theron find them? What does DJ have that can help them? Will they find all three pieces in time? Will the trinity be able to stop Thanatos? These kids travel all over the globe looking for all the pieces of the Lance. While saving the souls isn’t their only quest in this story…there are repercussions that cause more problems.
While all the characters have been together previously I really enjoyed DJ. He is new to the group(like me reading this). He is fun and cautious but full of energy. He also loves finally having a brother. I love his enthusiasm. Hunter is the MC. He goes through his test and accumulates a lot of power. As he learns to control it some crazy things happen. Will his power be enough to help him win the war? If it does…what happens after?
I enjoyed reading this. The relationships between all the characters were good. There are a TON of characters in here. I have not read the other books in this series and really had no trouble following along. They did reference some things that had happened in the past books thAt sound interesting. So I would suggest starting the series at the beginning. The characters are vampires and witches working together…which I enjoyed. The story flows very nicely and the drama and action easily kept me interested.

What a great read! This is the 4th book in this series but it can be read as a stand-alone. This is a paranormal/fantasy novel and I devoured it. It’s a little different than my normal reads but it was a good one. The MC has to triumph over evil and make sure his own inner demons don’t over power him completely. I enjoyed this book and I’d like to read more books by this author.

Kingdom of War by Tricia Copeland is the fourth book in the Kingdom Journals series. I was leary to start on the fourth book in the series but this can be read as a standalone. If you are like me you will be drawn in immediately and won’t want to put down the book. This is a fantasy story with supernatural characters. The world building is good and I could imagine the story easily. Hunter is the main character in this book and he is fun to read. He is going through a transformation but he has human traits. None of the characters are perfect each has flaws which make them enduring and relatable. I will be going back to catch the other books in the series after reading this fun read.

Kingdom of War (Kingdom Journals Book 4) by Tricia Copeland
This was a great read. The author did an exceptional job bringing me into a world full of action, fantasy, danger, and so much more. This is the first book I have read in this series and I was able to follow easily. Now that I have read this one I am absolutely going to go back and read the previous books in this series. This book had me hooked from the start and I couldn’t put it down till I got to the end. I liked Hunter’s character and it was intriguing to watch him struggle with the power inside and what he believes to be evil inside him trying to take over. I really enjoyed the relationship between the characters and their banter with each other. I highly recommend this book you will not be disappointed.

This is the first book that I have read in this series. It can be read as a stand-alone but for me personally, I would have liked to have read the others first. I like knowing everything and it would have been good to know the history between the main characters and their stories. I liked how the author intertwined the Bible and the history of the angels with the witches. I found it added more depth to the story. I found this book to be quite original and entertaining. I will definitely be reading the preceding parts to this series.

Kingdom Of War (Kingdom Journals Volume 4, Hunter’s Story) by Tricia Copeland 5-stars Kingdom Of War is the fourth book in this series and I do not recommend reading it as a standalone. It can be confusing if you do, although it will make sense as the story progresses. The other books in this series help the reader stay attuned to what is occurring. I really enjoyed reading this novel. It was full of action and wonderful characters. I felt the author did an excellent job with detail and the development of her main character. I look forward to more from this author in the future. I highly recommend this book and its series.

I give Kingdom of War (Kingdom Journals Book 4) by Tricia Copeland, 3 stars. *This review may contain spoilers from previous books in the series.*
This Hunter’s story. The Trinity has been united and now it is Hunter’s time to transition into a full witch. But no one knows just what kind of power he will have. He feels the immense power, plus the new responsibilities he now has. Not to mention the darkness that seems to come with it. But he can not let this stop him. Things are happening and creatures are in danger. He may still be a teenager, but he must do this. He, along with his friends, must travel to find ancient artifacts that will help free the lost souls and work to defeat the evil powers who want to control everything. Will they be able to do it?
This quite an interesting story. This is not a standalone, you must read the other books to understand this one. I will admit, it has been a while since I read the previous books and I had trouble getting back into the story. But the characters were good and the story is quite complex. There is much going on and plenty of twists and turns. This is perfect for the young adult age group, being that the main characters are around 17.
If you are a fan of young adult fantasy, then this book and series is for you.

This is my first read from Tricia Copeland, and it was a genre that I love. It’s full of action, adventure, danger, magic and vampires. I loved this take on this genre it was captivating, engaging and mentally visual in my opinion. At points in this read its filled with twists and turns, ups and downs and I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved following Hunter’s journey in this read he has emotion, he has a responsibility that he finds a struggle because with it he has to face a part of him that has darkness. I kept turning the pages of this book and in the end, read it in one sitting. Along with Hunter on his journey are his friends, as secondary characters, they really help support Hunter’s story but without them, his journey wouldn’t be possible!
Tricia Copeland has created a read with an amazing storyline and incredible characters. This is a read that shouldn’t be missed! I highly recommend you check this book out!

Kingdom of War is the 4th book in the Kingdom Journals by Tricia Copeland. It is a paranormal/fantasy series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although it is a continuation from the previous books in the series, each of which surround one main character. I had not read any of the previous books in the series but the author does a fantastic job of making sure that you are not missing and important parts of the story. This book centres around Hunter, who at 17. has only recently discovered that he is a witch. In fact, he’s a very important witch with a huge role to play in the future of all witches. Reading this book was a huge leap for me as this is a genre that I’ve not read since I was a teenager (many, many years ago!) and I was unsure if I’d still enjoy this genre. Thankfully my fears were not realised as I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are many character and the whole plot/story line is quite intricate so you have to concentrate when reading (well, I did) but it’s worth it as this book is a great read. I would definitely recommend this book.

Wow! This was one action packed and intense read in which I loved! This book literally had me hooked from page one!
This is my first book by this author and I can say I’m going to go back and read her other works. This book is not the first book of this series but I felt like I was ok reading it without reading the previous books but I will be going back and read the beginning of this series!
Hunter was probably one of the most complex characters I have read which made me love him so much. There are so many layers to peel away with him and figuring out why he does or is compelled to do what he does. The side characters just made the story that much better! They were so well rounded and just gave the story a new depth.
I cannot praise this book enough. Its intense and it’ll take you on one hell of a roller coaster ride!

Kingdom of War (Kingdom Journals Volume 4) by Tricia Copeland is a paranormal/urban fantasy novel. In this particular book, the author provides Henry’s story. Darkness and light are at battle within Kingdom of War while many interesting and unique characters come to the battle to wield their fate! The sequencing in this story was entertaining with the overlay of the character interactions, development and locales they journey to. I found the essence of this story appealing and easy to read, while capturing interest and maintaining throughout the story.

Kingdom of War by Tricia Copeland a four-star read that will excite you. This is number four in the Kingdom Journals and I would say that you don’t have to have read the previous stories as the author does a great job of filling in the past and heling you understand the story, as I haven’t read the first three and didn’t feel like I missed much. Hunter is a great character and he holds the story and just makes you feel desperate to know what happens next. Tricia Copeland has a great talent of bringing the world to life, she creates characters that are exciting and unique.

4 Stars
This is not my first book by this author and because I have loved other books I decided to give this one a try. I’m not a paranormal fan and really wish I was but in saying that, this book was written very well as I have come to expect from this author.
This absolutely can be read as a standalone yet for paranormal lovers this book which is part 4 would definitely benefit had the previous stories been read.
It took me a bit to finish this book and that is not because of the writing but only because it just did not hold my interest which goes back to the I don’t normally choose Paranormal stories. I did find the character development done very well and really liked and understood Hunter, there was quite a lot of inner dialogue which helped understand his struggles.
There were some twists that were placed perfectly and even gave me and unpredictable ending, which I completely appreciated.
If you love the paranormal genre this is probably one of the best, I will keep coming back for more as I truly love this authors writing.

Nite Fire: Smoke & Mirrors (Book 3) by C. L. Schneider is a supernatural shifter story and another exciting book in this series. You really need to read these books in order or you are missing so much on the characters and the world around them. C.L.’s writing is enticing and the word building is spot on when you can vividly imagine the characters and the world in which they fight to live, they are interesting and our heroine is brash, loud and sassy. The intrigue and action will keep you engaged right to the end. The story take a you on a journey where there are supernatural beings, demons and humans. Dahlia Nite is half dragon and half human who is as tough as nails. She has fled her world and fights to protect humans by hunting creatures that don’t belong on the human world. Dahlia has had to come up with elaborate and far reaching details, that seem farfetched on a good day, to keep the truth from others but it is becoming harder and harder as the truth is slowly being brought to surface. Once again with body parts piling up, Dahlia needs to find and stop the killers before all supernatural beings are exposed.
I recommend this book and can’t wait to see what happens next.

A couple of reasons why this book is 5 stars for me:
1. While it is the fourth book in the series, it is the first one I’ve read and I was able to follow the story because the author does a wonderful job of filling in the backstory.
2. The realism in the fantastical story makes it seem as if “they” truly can live amongst us.
3. The story grabbed me from the very beginning and I finished it in one sitting because I had to find out how it ended.
4. It has all of my favorite “supernatural ” beings.
I will be reading the other books in the series to go back to the beginning.

Kingdom of War is the fourth book in the series of Kingdom Journals by Tricia Copeland. I have become a big fan of Tricia Copeland because I know that I will not be disappointed with the story. Kingdom of War is just that an AWESOME story. This story is a Young Adult fantasy story with surprises. There is all the usual character types witches, vampires, fairies, a couple more along those lines (spoilers). This story is about Hunter who is coming into his own powers. He is apart of the Trinity when everyone’s powers come in will battle the biggest enemies. Hunter is a natural born leader who has others follow him. Will he come into his powers in time for the battle? Will the evil enemies be defeated? This story will have your go into twists and turns because it is that good. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.

Wow, wow, wow!!! This was an absolutely amazing read! It was thrilling, exciting, page turning – one of my absolute favourites of 2019 and definitely my favourite by this author so far! I read this book in one sitting because I honestly could not put it down and I don’t think I could have even if I had tried! I was completely captivated by the words that were jumping off the pages, the twists and turns, the amazing characters and a storyline that was just absorbing. I have read other books in the series but not read them in order – I had no problems reading this as a standalone but believe me it will leave you wanting more! Hunter’s story was amazing I absolutely fell in love with him. He had such an internal struggle going on and I felt like that made me like him even more. I honestly cannot put into words how much I loved this story, I wish I could start all over again – it will definitely be on my re-read list and not many books make it onto that!! A fantastic 5 star ending to this series! I look forward to more from this author in the future!

Kingdom of War (Kingdom Journals Volume 4) by Tricia Copeland. This is a great story. Its full of witches, paranormal & vampires! Its the story of Hunter who is in transformation to become a full witch. Hunter has always been wary of the danger inside of him so he’s very cautious, afraid it will come out. He has to complete these trials because it all depends on him. This is the 4th installment and I would recommend reading them in order. The group known as the Trinity is completing their trials to come into their powers, they have all succeeded until Hunter. Will Hunter complete the task or will he fail them all. Hunter is a natural born leader will he be able to contain it or will it take over and cause him to fail the mission. Read Kingdom of War to find out!

Nite Fire: Smoke & Mirrors By: C.L. Schneider is book 3 in the series. It could probably be read as a stand alone, but I woyldnt recommend it. The first two books really preface this one well. I love this authors writing style and the characters in this book. This book had me hooked from page one, and while I thoroughly enjoyed the other books in the series, this was my favorite of the three. I cant wait to see what this author does next! Great read and a solid 5 stars!!
