The Queen of Witches (Wheel of Crowns Book 2) by Brandi Elledge – Review by Katie Matthews

The Queen of Witches (Wheel of Crowns Book 2)The Queen of Witches by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed book 1 in this series so I was really looking forward to jumping in to book 2 and I wasn’t disappointed at all. It still had everything I loved from book 1, the great storyline, the great writing style, an interesting plot and great characters – in fact I think I liked this book ever so slightly more than the first. It was a fast paced read that was full of action that definitely had me turning the pages as quick as I could just so I could find out what was going to happen next. Again the richly described scenery meant I felt like I was right there in the story with the characters.
I really liked Charlie and felt a great connection with her straight away. This author definitely knows how to create fantastic female leads that are a pleasure to read about. The attraction between Charlie and Jamison was undeniable and I enjoyed following their story.
I am REALLY looking forward to reading the third book in this series! I just know it’s going to be just as good as books 1 and 2!

The Werewolf Queen (Wheel of Crowns Book 1)The Werewolf Queen by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Werewolf Queen is the first book that I have read by this author and it was a fantastic read. I was completely captivated by the original storyline that she had created. The pace and flow of the story was excellent, it made the book easy to read and follow. The rich detail that the author used really made me feel connected with the story and the world that she had built for her characters.
I really liked the characters in the story, Sadie was great and I enjoyed reading about her. I was really rooting for her especially with everything that seemed to be against her.
I thought that this was a great start to the series and I am really looking forward to seeing how it develops!
Readers who enjoy paranormal stories would not be disappointed with this book and I highly recommend it.

Winging It (Destiny Rules Series Book 1)Winging It by Lisa Gail Green
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As of late, I find myself looking for simple stories just to give the mind something to do. Winging It is one of the simple stories. Lisa Gail Green is a YA author who can grab you and keep you throughout her story. I find that the YA authors pay more attention to the small details and keep the story flowing. There is somewhat a mystery with Zach and his powers that he is trying to get used it, We follow Zach and his mom through the story so see what can happen if the fairy godmother roll really is in the people’s lives. Will Zach complete his Mother’s assignments in time or will his mother and himself be grounded? What a journey you will be on if you take the first page and run away in the story of Winging It!!!!

This series is amazing! I absolutely love the adventure that abounds in these books. This being the second book in the Wheel of Crown series, I think it showed that not all series are redundant. I like that each book focuses on someone new but it has the old and familiar characters there to help you follow along. Like with the first book, the characters are people I just want to be around, for the most part anyway, they make me laugh, and yes they make me cry just a little. This book was thrilling yet sweet and by the time I finished it, I couldn’t wait for the next chapter in this epic journey.

Death and the Crone: Book Three of the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie

4 Stars

This is my third book by this author as well as in this series. This one felt more like a stand alone set in Chicago although the appearance of some from the books that came before was a welcome addition.

I got kind of confused a few times which is something that normally happens when I read books from this genre which is not a chosen genre of mine. I had to read this one though as I had read the first two and my curiosity got the better of me. Although these books still have not won me over on the genre I did in fact enjoy the writing style of this author and absolutely would read more.

I did like that the female lead in this story was not your typical beautiful 25 year old although her views of herself and life were kind of sad at the beginning I found following her through this adventure was enjoyable, and like her I had the same views of Elias when the story started, wasn’t exactly sure what he was all about.

I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys these types of books and I highly recommend this author for anyone that just enjoys quality writing.

That’s a Wrap (Paranormal Talent Agency #3)
By Heather Silvio
Rated 4 stars

This is the third in the series of the Paranormal Talent Agency. In here we meet Mia. She is a water spirit…and a producer. When a client is murdered she hooks up with a reporter to find the reason. This leads her on a merry chase but she does get to meet the charming Det Jacob Dawson. Sparks fly between them but could he ever accept her as she really is? Or will the murderer come between them?

This is probably my second fav book in the series. There was a lot of movement and sleuthing. We also got to see Evie and Catherine along with a few others from previous books. Not really to catch up but to move the story along. It is not necessary to read the previous stories to enjoy this one. This is a nice short story with a *spark* of romance.

The story That’s a Wrap (Paranormal Talent Agency Book 3) by Heather Silvio is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It has mystery and the supernatural. I loved reading about the characters of Mia Fynn and Jacob Dawson. Mia is a nixie who gets pulled in a mystery when the lead actor in the movie she was going to produce is murdered. Jacob is the detective that is assigned to the case. There is an attraction between them that she keeps dancing around. Will she catch the killer? Will she and Jacob find true love? Read this book to find out. This story was entertaining and had me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I enjoyed the additional characters that help Mia. They have been brought forward from the first two stories and I enjoyed reading about them again. I love the supernatural world that I found myself in. This is a series that I have enjoyed reading since the first book and I hope for more stories with adventure and mysteries to come. Highly recommended reading.

Wild Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel by India Kells is a novel fraught with danger, energy and impact. Reading it was to experience all the feelings mentioned in the story. To feel the very essence, the deep depth of each character, was an amazing thing to behold. I am bewitched with India Kells spin on words. I visualised Isabel and Kai, their many friends, and their exciting actions. This is as interactive as you can get without being in the story. I was that invested that I needed a moment to recuperate, re-energise, and reflect on the goodness that is these characters. This story was so crazy, I wanted to be there. Reading it is the next best thing. 5 stars.

Third time is a charm for sure! I loved this book and I am in utter love with this series! This series continues with the quietest member of the bunch with Magnum. To me Magnum was also the most mysterious. There wasn’t much background chatter on him in the last two books, so it was nice to finally get to read his story. Magnum’s story is so incredibly heartbreaking. Then we start to read about Brenda. Brenda if you remember is the nurse that helped Cyma with her daughter. Her story was equally interesting. Now someone is gunning for Brenda and Magnum is making it his mission to keep her safe. But while he is doing that, Magnum and Brenda start succumbing to this chemistry that keeps pulling them closer and closer together, which in turn helps help them from their past. This story has a lot of twists and turns and a lot of the unexpected. What I didn’t expect were the tears that I did cry for Magnum’s character. It kind of hit home in a lot of ways and I felt so bad for him. This story was also so incredibly steamy as well!!! But all in all, this was a seriously great book. I read it in one sitting and loved every minute. I could not put it down. I cannot wait for the next one!

That’s a Wrap (Paranormal Talent Agency Series Book #3) by Heather Silvio – Review by Angela Hayes

That's a Wrap (Paranormal Talent Agency, #3)That’s a Wrap by Heather Silvio
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

That’s a Wrap is the third book in the Paranormal Talent Agency Series by Heather Silvio. This was such a fun read- with a paranormal mystery, with a touch of the supernatural, murder, intrigue, danger, wonderful characters, and romance.
Mia Fynn is so much more than just a movie producer working in Las Vegas- she’s a Nixie, and is over 200 years old. This mystery begins when one of the leading actors in her latest movie is killed while recording a live promotional video on social media. Mia has her suspicions, and when another actor is killed, she and her friends from the Paranormal Talent Agency, as well as a very determined television reporter, all team up to try and catch a killer before they can strike again.
Add a very hunky police detective named Jacob Dawson, a lot of sparks, some twist, intriguing developments, and some humour- and this story takes off. My favourite of the series, so far.
This definitely has an original spin on the paranormal romance/mystery theme. And as I have said previously, I think that the books would make a fun television series, too.
I am looking forward to book #4!

Thank you, Ms. Silvio!

Demon’s Angel is the second book in the new Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) crossover Series by Manda Mellett.
I love the Satan’s Devils series and am excited to have see where this crossover series will lead. Two books in and Ms. Mellett certainly doesn’t disappoint- delivering more than I could have hoped for. And as expected, it was quite an emotionally charged rollercoaster ride. Ms. Mellett’s stories are always unpredictable, with twists and surprising developments, and this one was no different- taking me on a ride I won’t soon forget! She had me reading on the edge of my seat a lot of the time, devouring the pages to discover what would happen. There was angst, push-pull, action, drama, danger, suspense, emotion, heat & sizzle, brotherhood, camaraderie, a great storyline, wonderful characters, and much more….
If you love a really well written, original, and riveting MC story- with complex, interesting and endearing characters- then this is definitely the book for you!

Thank you, Ms. Mellett!

This is the first book that i have read by this author and it will not be my last. The author has a great writing style and i enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Flora is our man character and i adored her. She has horrid taste in men though. She is fixing to marry a man who she has been with for the last 8 years and he is a terrible person. He nitpicks everything she does and puts her down any chance he gets. Fiona finally decides she has had enough and runs away from him and their never-to-be wedding. That is when she runs into Dean. He was just stood up by his own bride and has gone through the ringer too. These two go through a roller coaster of feelings, both for the things they’re going through and for each other. Will they end up together or are they destined to move on and see other people who haven’t been so close to saying I DO?
I enjoyed this book a lot and i cannot wait to read more by this author. I would recommend this to a friend!

Bonded (A Twisted Hearts Love Story) by Autumn Sand – Review by Crystal Davidson

Bonded (A Twisted Hearts Love Story book 3)Bonded by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bonded is another part to the The Twisted Hearts Love Story series by Autumn Sand I’ve slowly been reading. This book tells of Magnum, who we are introduced to in previous books, but barely. He seems quiet, mysterious, and dangerous. My expectations for this book were high because previous stories in this series have grabbed my attention and turned me into a mob affiliate junkie! For real, I cannot get enough of this series!! All the men are alpha-male. Sexy. Borderline Dangerous. And the women are sexy, smart, capable. I’ve not had much interest in these types of stories, and was more into MC type romance/suspense/action, however this series is opening new doors for me.
Magnum, real name Carl, is employed by Tony Delany, who we get to know a lot of in the previous stories. Just like the previous stories, this one has scenes of a sexual nature not suitable for younger eyes, as well as vulgar language and swearing. And it has some very disturbing and maybe triggering scenes of violence involving children, so be aware if this is bothersome for you.
Placed mostly in New York, but partly in Amsterdam.
Brenda is a nurse. We meet her briefly in Ticks story because she is friends with Cyma, as well as was Laila’s (Cyma’s daughter) nurse, and Cyma is Ticks spouse. Her and Magnum have sparks for sure, but for reasons unclear, fail to hit it off at first. However all that changes when someone appears to stalk Brenda and Magnum takes whatever means necessary to keep her safe!
This book was much more than I expected! 5 out of 5 stars!

That’s A Wrap is a fun, mysterious, romantic, paranormal novel that can be read as a standalone in this series. The book was easy to read and follow. The main character of this novel is Mia who is briefly introduced in book one. She has lived a long life and is determined to figure out who or what is killing actors during their live Facebook videos. She was fun and entertaining. I loved her paranormal abilities and her green hair. I love that this book can be read as a standalone but also includes the female characters from the first two books. I fell in love with this series with book one and the author continues to fuel that love with her work. I definitely recommend this 5-star novel.

The Queen of Witches is the second book of the Wheel of Crowns series written by Brandi Elledge and it’s the second book that I have read by this author. The characters are well written and the plot was amazing the secondary characters and their quirkiness made the story more enjoyable. I read this book in one sitting that’s how good this book/series is.

Since Charlie’s her 18th birthday, strange things have been happening around her—like randomly starting fires or turning things to ice and she is afraid. But things are about to get even weirder. Two handsome guys show up looking for her they both wish to help her while the other wants her to help him look for something.

Charlie discovers more than she could have suspected she’s a witch. This explains all the weird things she’s been doing something that’s confirmed when she’s kidnapped and forced to put on a wedding dress to marry a powerful warlock.

And if Charlie thinks avoiding a wedding is the biggest of her problems, she has another thing coming. Many things coming actually. Because she’s made the Prince of Hell mad as well, as hell. And, with a bunch of his evil chums, he’s coming for her.

She’d better hope she masters the whole ‘turning things to ice’ magic pretty fast. And that the Werewolf can track her down. Because staying in hell is exactly like it sounds. And getting out might just take more than she can give.

I really enjoyed this book/series…. I highly recommend this book/series…

Problematic Love (Rogue #8) by Lara Ward Cosio
5out of 5stars
Problematic Love is the eight book in the Rogue series written by Lara Ward Cosio and I have read all eight books in this series. Ms. Ward has done an outstanding job in writing Danny boy and all of his struggles and what he has overcome. I also loved how she made Amelia go out of her comfort zone. You know the saying opposites attract well this is defiantly Danny boy and Amelia. The characters are well written and I loved their quirks and the way these characters play off of each other.
Danny boy is screw up and he knows it he is a recovering addict and he is barely getting his life together. He has nothing to offer a woman like Amelia. And now he has done the impossible he got the girl. Now he has to figure out how to make a woman like Amelia happy or so he thinks.
Amelia has thrown all caution to the wind and decided the fact that she was once Daniel’s therapist is not a big enough deterrent to keep from having a relationship with him. So she took a chance. Because she couldn’t get him out of my head or her heart.

Is Amelia crazy for taking a chance on such a damaged man? Does she want to be with a man who requires a lot? Will Danny boy’s insecurities destroy any chances with Amelia? Can Danny boy overcome his insecurities? Can they separate the professional relationship from the personal relationship? Is this one of those patient therapist romances or is it the real deal? You will need to read this book in order to find out…
I highly recommend this book/series

By: Carrie Pulkinen
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours, #1) by Carrie Pulkinen was an entertaining, hooking read, that had me reading into the night.

Not my first read by this author, so I was super excited to get my hands on this book. I was not disappointed, rich with detail, mystery, paranormal, and a serendipitous moment, and you have one of the best mixes for a compelling read, that just sucks you in, and hooks you until the last page.

I loved the MC’s, Emily and Sean were both interesting, realistic, and they just seemed to jump off the pages at you. I loved their meeting, their interactions and how they both build each other back up. Both were strong, and that not only enriched the story, it really rounded out the plot, and believability.

Overall this book is a must read, and I can’t stress enough how much I loved and enjoyed it. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will fall hard for this second chance, paranormal romance, that will have you believing in more than just ghost.

Happy Reading

Secure Desire has me hooking and sinker. I could not stop reading this magnificently written novel. Cassie is working undercover with her former last name when she is brutally attacked. Ian who had met her earlier on briefly was attracted to her when she showed up at her uncles while he was visiting for security purposes. He realizes how attracted he is to her after a short date before she is attacked. I loved how she fought her emotions and how the attack changed Ian. Cassie’s battle for life in the hospital has me at the edge of my seat. This novel was easy to read and full of excitement. I highly recommend it!

I thought the characters in this book had a great connection between them. They seemed to work really with each other and complimented the other. The story was quite complex, possibly a little too complex at times, but it grabs your attention and does a good job of holding it until the last page. This is another cute book in this series. The story is about Mia who is a movie producer and also a nixie. The main actor in her latest film gets killed live on a Facebook video and it’s up to her and her friends to find the killer. It will be hard to explain to the police when they don’t know that the supernatural exists. She teams up with a reporter but can she solve the crime without revealing who she really is?

It’s a short novel but packed with mystery, murder and romance. Sparks are literally flying between Mia and her love interest. We get to see some reappearances from some characters which is always nice. It was well written with likeable characters. I think this is another winning novel by Heather Silvio.

Secure Desire: A Chase Group StorySecure Desire: A Chase Group Story by R.L Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Secure Desire by R. L. Dunn is not your typical romance story. R. L. Dunn wrote characters that were believable and lovable. This story takes you on journey with Chase and Cassie. Be prepared because it is a roller coaster ride but it is worth all the emotions that comes along with the story. When you are a soldier like Chase and have some lingering feels about your tour in Afghanistan you everyday life seems so different. Chase came back to get in the security business with his brother and did not expect to run into his love interest, Cassie from 6 years ago. A lot has happened in the six year in both of their lives. Will Chase be able to have a relationship after Afghanistan? Will Cassie want a relationship with Chase? Are there secrets that either one of them does not want them to surface?
