Beckoned, Part 5, Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn 4 out of 5 Stars Do yourself a favor and read all of the other books first. I have loved this series from the start. These characters are ones that you will fall in love with again and again. Even the ones who you grow to hate, you love because of the depth and reasoning they add to the story. This contemporary romance novel will set your heart on fire and tug at the heart strings. I will admit, that when I start a series and I ship a couple, I have a hard time letting them go, and that was so true with this novel, but then I started to love the idea of Soren and Elena and what Elena did for Soren and his character and what he does for her. I am still getting used to them as a couple, and it will take a bit of growing on me, but I love where this is going! Ms Vaughn continues to surprise and impress me with her clever twists, detail to characters, and her desire to bring her story to live. Highly recommended.

The Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen tells the story of a scientist, the so-called “Dr” Kite, who has developed a series of microchips that can alter people’s bodies and minds. The trilogy focuses primarily on three women – Gigi, Ellen and Lilly. Each of them has something about themselves that they would like to change, and Dr Kite offers this change. Like most wish-granting stories, though, there is a cost and each woman must face the consequences of her decision. It’s a fascinating story, and very thought-provoking. It got me wondering about what I would most want to change about myself, and how far I’d go to achieve that. It also made me think about the things we value, particularly with regards to physical beauty, and the shortcuts people are encouraged to take to achieve these often unrealistic ideals. The narrative jumps between several different characters. Character changes are heralded with new chapters, but sometimes the chapters can be quite short. I found it mostly easy to follow, and the character changes kept me in suspense as the different stories unfolded. At times, I felt the pacing wasn’t great. The second book in particular seemed to primarily be spent building up to the third book – no bad thing when reading the trilogy as a set but not great if you’re trying to read the books separately. I would recommend reading all three together, as it allows the story to develop. For me, this is a four-star read. Really interesting concept, and I found myself warming to the characters (particularly Ellen, as the story progressed!). I’d recommend this to anyone who is concerned about drastic weight-loss and anti-ageing solutions!

Beckoned, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica is the latest installment by Aviva Vaughn. I am so totally hooked on this series. Part of my is glad it isn’t over yet but at the same time I’m dying to know how things turn out for Soren.
Soren finally starts to figure out who he is as an individual and not the oldest son and heir in the Lund family. It takes getting his heart ripped out and then taking a trip on a whim but he is getting there.
Elena is just amazing in my eyes. She does so much for those she loves and is willing to sacrifice her happiness.
So now I have to wait patiently for the next book in this series. I’m anything but patient so this wait is going to be hard. So looking forward to what happens next.

The third book in the “Glass City Hearts Series”, JESSE can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. I would absolutely recommend that you read the first two as they are great stories and we get to revisit the characters in this story.
JESSE has it all. It’s a wonderfully sweet romance – hmmm now that I think about it – it is a “sweet” romance as in there is no sex and I actually don’t remember any swearing. There are only a few characters in the story so it’s easy to know who is who and why everyone is where they are. Having said that, there is a lot going on. It’s definitely not a one dimensional story line.
I enjoy the way this author writes. There is a flow to her stories that moves them along at a really nice pace. The stories are well plotted and there is a very clear beginning, middle and end. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
I think Jesse is my favorite in this series. There is just something about him that is sweet and endearing. (Please don’t tell the others.)

A great read about a new job. Gwen has always wanted to work in fashion and manages to land her dream job at Prada. Excited with her new job, she expects to follow her passion and progress her career. What she does not expect is for her new boss Andrew Morgan to be so attractive. Will she risk her career for love? A great read. Can be read as a standalone but also enjoyable as a prequel. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Gwen following her passion no matter what or Andrew trying to move on but also run his company. I loved the attention to detail in the autumnal setting outsidewith it’s colours and trees. And also the dedication to the world of fashion with designers and clothes and handbags in a busy work environment. The only issue I would raise is that it seemed slow to start but perhaps this could be resolved with chapter breaks to speed up the pace. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars

Fat Girl (Romance in Rehoboth #1) K. L. Montgomery
Fat Girl by K. L. Montgomery is a five star novel and the first book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. When I first started this book, I only had about ten minutes to read before I had to leave to go to dinner. I can tell you one thing for sure, I was late to that dinner! I absolutely could not put the book down. When I finally left, I was reading at the stop lights and trying to get out of the restaurant as fast as I could. Ridiculous, yes. But I am not ashamed to admit when a book really reels me in from the get go and just keeps on going. There is so much sarcasm in the life of Claire and how she depicts her life story that I can relate to. I continually caught myself laughing and laughing and also feeling like she was talking about my life. I felt like she was talking right to me and having a conversation about her life. She is waiting for her divorce to be finalized and raising her son almost on her own. She moves back to her hometown and into her parents house. Then she decides to start writing about her weight loss journey, but then realizes she has to actually lose weight to do that. With the help of her best friend, she starts down this path and is surprised at every turn by the way her life is changing. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth #2) K. L. Montgomery
The Flip by K. L. Montgomery is a five star novel and the second novel in the romance in Rehoboth series. I have not read the first novel but still felt like the characters were developed and able to be loved just the same. When these two high school nemeses meet again as adults, they cannot believe they are thrown back together again. Andrew’s aunt knew what she was doing when she left her house to both him and Sonnet. They have to find a way to work together to make the house inhabitable again. This book will bring you back to your twenties and make you feel how they must be feeling right now. I am excited to go back and read the first novel and then move on to the third!
Plot Twist (Romance in Rehoboth #3) K. L. Montgomery
Plot Twist by K. L. Montgomery is the third installment to Romance in Rehoboth and is a five star novel. I couldn’t put this one down. I love when books have regular old teachers as their main characters because that is who I am. Lindy is just a high school English teacher. She feels like she doesn’t have a lot going for her by living at home and helping take care of her aging parents. A relationship just has never felt like it would be in the mix. Meric is a math loving nerd who needs to keep order in his life to help make things make sense. His divorce is almost final and he is unsure how life can go on but he knows getting back on the stage is a good way to get out and do something. When Lindy tries out for the same stage play, they meet for the first time. This book can be read as a standalone novel but the background in the others tie it all together.

I give Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria DeBlassie, 4 stars.
This is a book that shows you many things. It is a collection of writings by an author who finds the happiness in the small things. She makes the everyday seem like magic. There are snippets in here of just about everything. From morning to evening, there is so much that we could be reflecting on, so much to be thankful for. The author shows you how to see things differently.
This is something completely different than what I would normally read. This may fall under the category of self-help or spiritual. But the author is not telling you what to do or think. She is just reflecting on things in her life in a way so you understand. Mainly, this is a book to show you that you can see things in different way. Written in short snippets, it isn’t something you have to necessarily sit down and read in one sitting. You could pick it up for a few minutes here and there and learn something new.
If you want a new outlook on life and are interested in finding the magic and happiness in the small things, this book is for you.

Painting Kuwait Violet By Pamela Q. Fernandes I was riveted by this story from beginning to end. This is the first time I have read anything by this author and I am glad I took a chance on a book I wasn’t sure about. This book dealt with a few different issues and it did it very seamlessly. The story of Violet and her reasons for becoming a maid and the issue with the other maids, and so much more was very intriguing. This is a very good book, and a must read if you want to find out where Violet ends up and do they find out what’s happening to the other maids? I found out things about a different culture that I knew nothing about and I truly enjoyed reading this book!! I highly recommend this book.
A great read about mysterious fates. To save her father and sister from a rival Irish clan, Fionna strikes a deal to go to England and steal a faerie sword, the famous Excalibur. To get into Arthur’s kingdom, she fights in a tourney and suprises everyone. But fate has more suprises in store for her than she could ever expect. With a cursed land at stake, can Fionna help her new friends? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Fionna trying to save her family but also a fiercesome warrior. Brillaint set of supporting cast like the humourous but kind Percival or the sensible Lancelot.I loved the visual detail throughout the novel with its sense of nature as a home and a part of everyday life shaping the people and full of the senses as if you were there. A great twist on the Arthurian legend with Irish additions to the tale. I also loved the use of Irish mythology in the novel with Morrigans and the sidhe fae true to their origins. Overall a brillaint read and I would give it five stars.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed her writing style. I was in the mood for a “sweet romance” and this fit the bill perfectly. It’s a clean – low angst story with a bit of depth to it.
The characters are quickly developed, the story moves at a decent pace and the secondary characters are well played. The book allowed me to “escape” for a few hours and I appreciated that.
I will be looking forward to more from this writer in the future.

Necie Navone has written a beautiful series called My Life. I enjoyed reading this story as the characters are fully developed and believable. It is written so it is read in a steady pace. There seems to be activity that keeps things moving. The story is about Alessandra. Her family is a “crime” family. She is the next leader of her family. She knows this and has to keep this life a secret from her friends. There has been an accident and her uncle comes to take care of her and raise her. It is hard to keep her life as simple as possible. There is a lot of action and coming of age for Alessandra. With this being book 1 the rest of the books seem promising.

New Bloom (Book 1) (Bloom Duets) by A. E. Gamrat. This is the story of a young girl named Gwen just graduating college and her very overbearing mother. Her mom has her life all lined out for her and Gwen not being one to break the rules is following right along until she meets a man who comes into their family’s flower shop. She feels things just seeing him that she’s never felt before. Will Gwen have the courage to go against her mom and live her life the way she wants or will she do what she’s always done and follow the rules. Her mom suffers a major medical event as well and she feels like her whole world is falling apart. New Bloom is a sweet coming of age story.

Eternal Bloom (Book 2) (Bloom Duet) by A. E. Gamrat. This book picks up where New Bloom left off so you really need to read New Bloom first. It picks up with Gwen’s mom still in the hospital and Gwen and her father trying to cope with all that has happened. On top of that Gwen is trying to earn her place in the family’s Flower shop but her mom has continually made that difficult. She and her mom don’t see eye to eye on anything. Her choice of careers, her boyfriends, her life etc. Thankfully she has her best friend Lena who she can vent to about everything. As her mom recovers will Gwen start seeing life the same as her mom or will her mom come around and let Gwen make her own decisions.

I loved this book! This author had me pulled right into the story from the beginning. It is a fast paced story that I read in one sitting. The characters, Lexi and Jack made me laugh but also felt compassion for Lexi. She had a bad break up on social media then to make things worse the model in her art class is the same man standing across from her at her cousin’s wedding. I found myself hoping they would get their happy ending. Their story is a must read!

I enjoyed how in this book we get to see what Dani’s story is, we got to meet her in one of the previous books. She is a woman who is afraid of men and loves to bake. She meets Patrick when she is dropping off cupcakes at his place of work. She has many insecurities which I felt for her but she is still a strong character. Will Patrick be able to teach her to trust men especially him? I highly recommend this book to find out if there is a happy ending in their future.

My Hidden Life: Brothers of Camelot Prequel (My Life Series Book 1) by Necie Navone. I LOVED this book. Its the story of a crime family and their 6 year old daughter Alessandra who is set to be next to lead the family. She tries to live a normal life but its extremely difficult because she can’t share a lot of her life with her friends. At her 6th birthday party she is given the famous headband or crown that she has to wear at family gatherings and at that same party as they are leaving she is shot by the Families number one enemy. After she survives the shooting her Uncle makes it his goal to teach Alessandra to take care of herself. He teaches her to shoot a gun, self defense and to know her surroundings. She excels in most all the while trying to be a normal young girl. As she gets older and draws the attention of boys her life is given a whole other round of complications. Her father is determined to arrange a marriage for her but she is determined to pick her own partner. Its the story of a strong willed young girl trying to change a family set in deep, dark, traditions. I can not wait to read the next book!

Jesse by Desiree Lafawn is the third book in her Glass City Hearts series. This book can be read as a stand-alone although all are definitely worth reading. Jesse has had a hard upbringing. With an emotionally absent father he has learnt the hard way that he has to stand on his own two feet. And the way he grew up has effected his adult life. He doesn’t want a family, doesn’t expect to find love. But when he meets Harlow everything starts to change. A single mother she is everything he should stay away from. And yet he finds himself drawn to her, finds he can’t stay away. And the more time he spends with her Jesse starts to learn that, unlike what his father always said, blood isn’t always thicker.
This series just gets better and better. This book has to be my favourite so far. I loved Harlow as a character. I loved that the author made her completely unlike the usual heroine type. She was strong and independent and completely unfeminine in the best kind of way. This is a great book and a great series, I would highly recommend them!
Michael’s Heart is a beautiful story that is so original and different than what I usually get lost in. It was a heartwarming story. It was a tale of anything is possible if you just open your heart and mind. There was so much that appealed to me about Colbie. She had her ups and downs. She had a gift and was finally able to to something with it. But then she gets a taste of heaven, and it is at this stage that for me, the author really turns up the quality content and delivers a unique twist to an unusual love story.
Colbie has trouble living in the present without Michael. Their story just kept evolving in such a profound way, it was tantalising. It takes a particularly talented author to be able to capture the very soul of each character so completely. Loro Thomas Harrington is a master at creating the seemingly impossible, without it becoming unrealistic. I thoroughly devoured their story and the experience was joyous and fulfilling. I recommend this book to anyone willing to take a chance on being totally enamoured by this colorful cast of eclectic characters. 4 stars.

Across from you by Amabel Daniels is a fun and entertaining read that kept a smile on my face the whole way through. Regan has sworn off all men. After her last breakup she knows it is the right decision. But when she sees the sexy guy modelling in her art class she can’t help but be interested. When she meets Jack again in an even more unexpected place it is maybe time to explore their chemistry a little more.
I found this book to be so entertaining. More than once I laughed at Lexi and Jack. Their interactions were all brilliant. The way it was written helped to make the book fun and humorous but is also had a good story that keeps you engaged. And overall great book.

This was such an interesting read, when I first read the blurb I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I soon found myself really captivated by what they author was writing about. It is really well written and the author had this amazing way of drawing me into her life. It was nice to read something a little different and in a world where everyday life is so busy and stressful this book certainly made me stop and think about things. I find meditation really relaxing and it has helped my anxiety a lot so I really did find this book useful. A unique and different read that I really do recommend and is definitely one of those books you should go into with an open mind.
BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn is a contemporary romance story that picks up where the last one finishes except this is Soren’s story. It is a story about finding yourself and second guessing all you thought you wanted. Losing love and trying to move on and reevaluate everything and building a new life. Aviva’s writing style paints the picture so vivid you feel a part of the story and flows nicely keeping you engaged. captures you from the first page. Her writing is descriptive, where you feel like you are right along side the characters. The writing flows and keeps you engaged. The passion and emotions the characters feel you feel. It’s another great read and part of this series. I recommend you start at the beginning of the series and get lost in the destinations and what they offer.

I absolutely love this author! Every book that I have read of hers has left me wanting more, her descriptive writing allows me to easily imagine what I am reading, I have an instant connection with the characters that she creates and I can never put down one of her books until I have finished. I have read a few books from this series but not all and I think it could be read as a standalone. I LOVED Zoe and Tim! They were both fantastic characters and I was completely and utterly captivated by their story. Zoe was so lovely; I loved her clumsiness and the fact that she got so nervous and just babbled on and on especially when it came to Tim. Here was just something about her that was so warm and genuine and you know you would love to have a friend like her. Tim was everything I have come to expect from one of Ms Deaton’s leading men; he was hot, sexy, protective and definitely swoon-worthy!! Tim and Zoe’s first meeting will probably stick in my mind of one of the funniest ever! I loved it! It definitely set the tone for the rest of the story! I cannot recommend this story enough – there’s funny moments, brilliant characters and above all romance! A perfect read for those cold winter nights!
Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings By: Maria DeBlassie 5 out of 5 stars
The book Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria DeBlassie is a book that I enjoyed reading. It draws you in and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had read the last page. It is a book that is amazing with the advice that it gives and inspirational as well. It has you realizing that it is sometimes the small things in life that can mean so much. You learn how to get joy from everyday things and how you may need to change the way that you think about everyday events. I found the examples given to be wonderful and this is a book that I found myself thinking about long after I had finished reading it. This is a book that warmed my heart and has many feel-good moments. It is amazing. It is wonderfully written and a book that I would recommend reading.

Across From You By: Amabel Daniels 5 out of 5 stars
The story Across From You by Amabel Daniels is a romantic comedy. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I had read the final page. It has me with a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart when reading about Lexi Regan and Jack O’Connor. They are two characters that are a pleasure to read about. Lexi is a woman who has been embarrassed and hurt by a public post that has gained her unwanted attention. She has sworn off men as she tries to guard her heart against further pain. Then she meets Jack. Jack is a guy that is looking for love. He finds that since he met Lexi that he can’t stop thinking about her or wanting to pursue her. I really enjoyed the way that Lexi and Jack banter back and forth with each other. Their interactions can be humorous and also show much about how they feel about each other and themselves. There is chemistry between these two and they can’t stop thinking about each other. After what she has been through will Lexi give Jack a chance to win her heart or will he only disappoint her? Will Jack be able to convince Lexi that he wants to pursue a relationship with her? Read this book to find out. This is a wonderfully written story. It has some other amazing characters that I enjoyed reading about their part in the story and also their interactions with Lexi and Jack. All the way through I was rooting for Lexi and Jack to find their way into each other’s hearts and fall in love. Will it happen? Will they get an HEA? Don’t miss out on a wonderful story and one that I recommend reading.

Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4) By Tarina Deaton Rated 5 stars
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this story!!! It started out making me laugh my rear off. That just kept that up through the story along with a sexy romance and a bit of danger. So many unpredictable things happen. Tarina Deaton never disappoints but I think this is my favorite of hers!
Zoe is wild! And unpredictable and would be so much fun! I loved her from the beginning and it didn’t stop. She made me laugh and envy her. She opens a outstanding bookstore. Has a crazy family that interferes as often as possible in her life. Then meets the next door neighbor and ….whoosh life changes.
The relationships between the familial characters is a ton a fun to read. I guess I should say even the besties are a blast. I just enjoy the heck out of these secondary characters! Tim and Jase (brothers) are so funny picking on each other. Then Bree gets dropped into the mix. LOL! Elba and Zoe have a fifteen year friendship so….you know…anything goes with them. Be prepared to smile.
This book made me laugh, had a nice romance along with an element of danger. The writing flows and easily kept my interest. It’s not necessary to read the other books but I’m telling you….It enhances the enjoyment of the series since they all show back up. Another Showstopper!

I give Siren Call (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 3) by Phoebe Alexander, 5 stars. *This review may contain spoilers from previous books in the series.*
Jessie will do anything for the people of The Factory. They accepted her into this way of life, and they are like family to her. The only family she has anymore. So when they ask her to use her skills as a cop to look into one of the members, she can’t say no. Besides, the women is an alluring mystery to her too. She decides to use her sexual side to draw the woman in and learn more about her. But the further in she gets, the less she wants to get out. There is something about her. Jessie knows she will get her heart broken again, but she can’t seem to say no.
Sirena, is in fact, hiding a secret. A few actually. But she cannot let anyone know. When the lady cop swinger approaches her, she’s sure she has been found out. Especially when she starts asking too many questions. But this women is so good to her, will she be able to say walk away when the time comes to leave?
This author has read my mind. After two books of the main relationships being male/female, I was wondering if any of the books would ever deviate. This series is about a swingers club after all and their are many kinds of groups within the club in the books. Sure enough, the author delivered with the main characters being two females. And it is done so well!! Sure there is a stigma about two women, it is touched upon when they are in the club. But these are real people just like anyone else. They have their own problems, some of them reflecting their way of life. But others are ones we all deal with. As she has done before, the author writes a wonderfully sweet, funny and hot as hell book. Sirena and Jessie are great main characters and feel very real. Plus your favorites from previous books are back! Oh, and did I mention there is a dog in this one too!!! A huge animal lover, I was so happy to see that again.
A wonderful series featuring alternative lifestyles, this book (and series) is a must for those who like hot and heavy romance and don’t mind reading something different. It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the whole series since they are all so good!

“To live with Enchantment is to see beyond the bricks and mortar that make up your home and into the magic infused within its frame. It is made up of stories and dried bay leaves and dreams whispered into the heads of dandelions. Of bare feet on carpeted floors and the smell of burning sage. Crystals – amethyst, citrine, amazonite, smoky quartz – winding in and around your books; all the better to magnify their magic. It is to peel back the layers of your day-to-day and search for that elusive energy that winds its way up your spine and outward into your life. Let the snake at your base wriggle free of its coil to climb up to your shoulder blades and across your open back. There is no room for tightly stacked discs here, just the taste of joy when the sun licks your skin. You might find it at the bottom of an empty teacup. Your future written in soggy leaves or in the whisper of trees, their leaves rustling and murmuring secrets only they can understand. Sometimes they are kind enough to translate for you – if you listen long enough. If you shower their roots with distilled love songs and feed them the black earth from your compost. It’s there, too, when you run your tongue along the grooves and ridges of a well-loved sentence. It’s everywhere. Even in the spaces you think have lost hope, like the junk drawer where you keep your faded dreams, stray screws, and half-forgotten heartbreaks along with wine corks and a few rubber bands. They’re not lost, just resting like seeds in the earth before they are ready to break open.”
………………………
“Let’s start with the adventuring. That morning you wake up with an expansive feeling in your chest, a longing to roam to the farthest reaches of your territory. You want the sun on your skin and fresh air to tickle your nose, to wander wherever your feet will take you. Perhaps to the neighborhood bookstore, or to the park, full of families playing games and couples walking their dogs. All you know is that you must walk until the bright energy in your chest reaches your toes, and your whole body sings with the fullness of life.”

Everyday Enchantments is an enchanting book full of musings, wonder and appreciation by Maria DeBlassie. It’s a wonderful non-fiction ‘self-help’ book that I would classify as philosophical, and packed full of simple, yet inspirational teachings. It also has a real shamanistic quality to it that made the ideas and advice Ms. DeBlassie gives to be quite thought provoking and uplifting. It is a meditation on finding the beauty in the small, simple things in our lives. To take a breath, slow down and appreciate ‘being’. It’s about thankfulness, mindfulness, reflection, understanding, simplifying, and conjuring our own happiness. There are many blessings to be found in the mundane, we just need to ‘still’ our minds to see them. There is so much of our lives that we don’t think about, things we take for granted, yet should be more important and meaningful. Ms. DeBlassie explains how we can create our own ‘magic’ in our lives and lead richer and more fulfilling lives. The author gives examples, by sharing her own experiences, lessons, and thought processes- and even though there may be geographical, or cultural differences, the underlying message applies to all. There are a lot of things that I will takeaway from this and a few that I will ponder on some more, but overall I really understand and appreciate the message that Ms. DeBlassie is sharing here. Lovely!
Thank you, Ms. DeBlassie!
“Yesterday I cleaned the house. My home. From top to bottom with elbow grease and burning sage. I tore up disappointments, collected broken hearts for my compost, and laid them to rest among the worms and coffee grinds. I honor my sacred space because I built it with my own hands and my own dreams. I honor it because they want me to be ashamed of my hard work or collapse under its burden. They don’t know that my daily industry is what keeps my fire stoked. That the many hours harvesting seeds has given me a bumper crop of hope and rosemary to chase away unwelcome spirits that come knocking on my door.”

Georgia Pine is yet another outstanding read from K.G. Fletcher. It is the 3rd book in the Southern Promises Series and I’ve loved all of them. All 3 books have a connection but can be read as a standalone as each is a complete story. I’d urge anyone to read all 3 books, not to help with any understanding of the story, but purely because this is a fantastic series that I’ve totally fell in love with and I know I’ll read them again. In Book 2 we meet Stephen Kaufman who is Hart’s boss. We know that he’s a cheating scumbag with a beautiful wife and 4 gorgeous daughters. The book is the story of his, now ex-wife Jessica. Jessica is heartbroken by the breakdown of her marriage and is now doing everything she can to raise her 4 gorgeous daughters on her own. Tim McGill is the gardener to the homes in the posh suburban area where Jessica lives. Hiding behind a beard and long hair, Tim is making a new life for himself, using a fake surname. In reality he’s Tim Ryan, huge star of the NFL whose mistake cost his side the Superbowl. When Tim catches Jessica having a breakdown the day her divorce papers arrive, he becomes her knight in shining armour, helping her with the girls. As Tim and Jessica spend more time together they finally give in to the huge attraction they have for each other. This however causes a lot of friction in Jessica’s life. Her snobby parents and ex-husband are mortified that she’s lowered herself to be involved with such a lowlife as a gardener. Again K.G. Fletcher has given us amazing characters. Jessica’s guts and determination to raise her little girls and make others see that Tim really is a good guy is endearing. Tim is just the most adorable man. The love he has for, and the way he treats her daughters makes my heart melt. Will Tim’s secret get out? Will Tim and Jessica get the happily ever after that they deserve? I’m not going to answer those and spoil the story. Dig in and read for yourself and find out how it all ends.

Fletcher – Review by Karyn Taylor
Painting Kuwait Violet by Pamela Q. Fernandes is a brilliant thought provoking story of an age where money talks and the boys club was rife.
The book is set in the 90’s when the currency of the world was Oil and Kuwait had lots and the men who run them were royalty and nothing could hurt them. Violet is an educated woman who needs to support her family and decides to take a job as domestic help in Kuwait, where an unlikely friendship develops.
The author discuss some topics which were heart felt and shocking, with Violet trying to get to the bottom of the disappearances will this passion to seek justice put her in more danger. Will her mistress be pushed into a corner as a businesswoman and her reputation ruined just because of her gender.
I thought this book opened up topics that people have been debating for years, to be set in the 90’s when these questions and behaviours were just coming to the forefront was a refreshing twist also with it set in the Far East. I enjoyed the twists in the story and enjoyed the flow of this well written novel.
This is my first book by this author and Holy Moly what a book it was…I had to sit and think about what I had just read before I could even think of starting this review. I love twists and turns that you don’t see coming and oh my goodness this book had that and so so much more. It took me a bit to find a connection with Larkin…I loved how strong and independent and successful she was but at first she came over as a bit cold to me, but then as the story progressed I started understanding her a bit more.
This was one of those WOW kind of stories, I couldn’t even come close to figuring out how it was going to end and I can’t even tell you how much I loved reading every word. I completely adored her group of friends and can not wait to get the stories that are to follow.
I love finding new authors that I can add to my list to watch for and I’m completely curious about her Base Branch series and believe I will be checking that out very soon.
If you even kind of like those kind of books that have your heart racing, your mind totally blown, and that have you almost falling off you seat then you have got to read this book. There are no words to explain how good this book was that can even come close to giving it the justice it deserves, and I haven’t even mentioned this absolutely beautiful cover…
