Al Capone at the Blanche Hotel by Linda Bennett Pennell – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Al Capone at the Blanche HotelAl Capone at the Blanche Hotel by Linda Bennett Pennell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first book by this author and I thought it was an interesting one. It was a historical romance that had quite a bit of suspenseful moments tied into the story line. I really enjoyed reading about the Jack Blevins, his sister Meg, and Meg’s fiancé who is a sheriff’s deputy, and Liz Reams. They all had an extremely important role in the story and I was excited to see where things were headed. The story takes place in the 1930s when Al Capone checked into the Blanche motel. Why was he at this little motel in this small town? Why are there body’s dropping all around town? The story also tells about a present day woman and her search for the truth on what happend in that small unknown town in the 1930s.
I was pulled in the story until the very end and I was eager to see what was going to happen! This story was an interesting one and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was awesome !! I devoured this book in one settling because I couldn’t put it down! This authors writing has a way of pulling you in, and the attention to detail is great without it being overdone. Josie and Spencer are our main characters and they were great.. They keep getting thrown together even though they think they aren’t right for each other! Will they keep fighting fate or give in and see where the universe takes them?
This author for me is a must read and I cannot wait until I can get my hands on more of her stuff. I would recommend this book to a friend!

This is book three in the fantastic series that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole series. Aiden and Lorelei are the main characters and they are great. This was a great quick read! I enjoyed the action, romance and of course can’t forget the shifters. This book is probably my favorite so far out of the two that are in this series and btw this cover is amazing.
The action in this one had me on the edge of my seat and I was happy to see how things were progressing. The characters in this book are great and the survival mode they had to be in was intense.

The Season Finale (Paranormal Talent Agency, #6)The Season Finale by Heather Silvio
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a great addition and finale to the Paranormal Talent Agency series. It was a quick read that I blasted through and enjoyed quite a bit. Liz is our main character and she is a TV reporter. She’s sent on the story of a lifetime but she isn’t quite sure what the story is even about. All she knows is that it involves the talent agencies owner Catherine Rodham. Things start spiraling out of control as the story unfolds and Liz has to make some hard decisions that her life and other lives might depend on! Will she end up making the right decisions or will she end up hurting those around her?
I enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Love Me, DreamyLove Me, Dreamy by Laura Burton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Such a cute and entertaining story! I read this book in one setting because the author was able to grab my attention and keep it. The main characters Toby and Amelia meet by chance and quickly start falling for each other. But they have this nagging felling that they are being followed because these men in black suits are showing up everywhere they go.
Is Toby telling her everything she needs to know about these strange men? Are they destined to be together or are they going to crash and burn?
I am looking forward to reading the by this author!

Proper Impulse (Jaded Lily Book 4) by Zeia Jameson – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Proper ImpulseProper Impulse by Zeia Jameson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing! This is the fourth book in the Jaded Lily series and I couldn’t get enough of it! The characters were funny and the story was interesting and I devoured it.
Milo and Juniper couldn’t be more different. Milo is a police officer who lives his life by the book and even a hair out of line isn’t expectable to him. Laws are unbreakable and that’s his belief.
Juniper is more or less your everyday citizen except for the fact that she had taken it upon herself to clean up the streets. She is willing to do whatever she has to do to accomplish that… Even if it’s illegal.
These two butt heads more often than not and the banter between these two is hilarious. Will Milo realized that even though laws shouldn’t be broken, they can bend?
I thought this book was great and I am looking forward to reading more books by this author!

Captivity (Captivity Book 1)Captivity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

New authors for me and I thought this book a was a good start for the series. This is a paranormal romance that was original and it kept me interested page after page. I thought the main characters were great and I felt for them when they were in trying situations. Aiden is a Phoenix shifter that has been held captive for a LONG TIME.. He’s finally got the chance to escape and runs as fast as he can to get away from his captives. Lorelei has been working undercover searching for Aiden and has been looking for him for years. When she finally catches up with him, he doesn’t recognize her as someone from his past and she has no clue how to proceed. Does she stay and help the people who have been helping him after he escaped or does she return to a job she isn’t sure about?
I am looking forward to reading more of this series because this one did end in a cliffhanger and I have so many questions I want to get answered! I would recommend this to a friend that like PNR!

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Beau and BettBeau and Bett by Kathryn Berla
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was loosely written around beauty and the beast but it was reversed. The H/Beau is the “sometimes” caring/sweet one that you couldn’t help but like when he finally make up his mind. The h/Bett is the one that is rough around the edges and has a lot of faults. I have to be honest and say it took a while for me to warm up to Bett. She was a hard character to like but once you squeezed past that rough exterior it was easier to like her. I liked watching these guys and seeing where their story was headed. The banter between the two was the best part of the story. Overall it was a nice story and I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author and seeing what stories she puts out into the world.

Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 1)Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms by Laura Hawks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was great! It was about a 15 year old named Mia and her familiar Gumshoe. Mia was a fantastic MC! She is bright and spunky and kind of adorable. Gumshoe is something else that’s for sure. He is a loud, coffee drinking, obnoxious cat that helps Mia solve mysteries! They have to careful though, because the case they’re on right now might be Mia’s last one if she doesn’t watch her back! She might be able to solve the mystery BUT being able to stay alive is going to be hard…
This one was a great teen read and I would like to read more by this author!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jumping the Shark is the 5th book in the Paranormal Talent Agency series and I thought it was a great read. I was pulled in from page one and it kept me interested throughout the whole thing. This book was about a demon named Barbara and her run for mayor. In her current position she is in control of the paranormal underground in the Vegas region. But a different supernatural won as mayor she could possibly lose that position. On her way to a debate, Barbara learns that the bus she was meant to be on was involved in an accident and no one survived. Was someone trying to kill the people in the running for mayor or was it purely an accident? She decides to work with the Paranormal Talent Agency to try and prove that it wasn’t an accident after all.

Children Of The Future by Jane Suen – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Children Of The FutureChildren Of The Future by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Children Of The Future was a very different book than I am used to reading but it was interesting. The book is about a school bus driver named Telly. He discovers one day that the children that ride his bus have gone missing, with the exception of one boy (billy) who was hidden away in the cabinet on the bus. He takes it upon himself to follow the clues and with the help of Billy, he searches for the missing kids. Telly is the main characters and he is supposed to be in his 20s but for some reason I couldn’t not picture him being that old. He seemed very juvenile to me. Regardless this was an interesting book. The book is YA and I think older kids and young teens would enjoy this book. There is mystery and suspense and clues that you follow as the reader that help lead to the missing kids.

Saint Code: Lost is book 4 in the Lucky Devils series and can be read as a stand-alone! The 3 previous book in this series are just as good as this one and I would suggest reading those as well. This book had me turning page after page. It’s a little different than what I normally read but that makes it worth reading especially with how well it was written. St. Augustine is the main characters and she is unlike any other. She’s strong and definitely can hold her own in a fight. She made this book great and I liked seeing where her story was headed.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was great. This is the 4th book in the series and even though it can be read as a stand-alone I think everyone should read the first 3 books because they’re are just as good.
The main characters in this book are awesome. I liked Robin the most though. She was fierce. Even though she was a bit foolish because she made a deal with a demon. What happens when she can’t kill someone because of the feelings she has for them? That’s when she goes to the Paranormal Talent Agency for help. Like all of the books in this series, there was mystery and romance and I enjoyed it a lot.
