The Confectioner’s Truth (Confectioner Chronicles Book #3) by Claire Luana – Review by Angela Hayes

The Confectioner's Truth (Confectioner Chronicles Book 3)The Confectioner’s Truth by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Confectioner’s Truth is the third and final book in The Confectioner Chronicles by Claire Luana. I was both excited and sad to get my hands on this book- excited to continue the adventure, but then quite sad that this incredible journey has come to an end. I can honestly say that this series is one of my favourite discoveries of the year! Ms Luana has such a fantastic imagination- and her stories reflect her masterful storytelling abilities and superb creativity. This book/series is an exceptionally good fantasy, which has been intricately woven with action, adventure, danger, mystery, suspense, humour, fun, tension, drama, and so much more. I was on tenterhooks the whole way through, and I loved every minute.
The story is a multi-layered delight, with spellbinding scene setting, vivid descriptions and exquisite world-building- which brought the whole story to life right before my eyes. I especially loved that we got to explore more of the ‘world’ in this book.
The characters are so beautifully crafted- quite dynamic and multidimensional individuals who all added to the story. Again, as with the other ‘Confectioner Chronicles’, I was completely enthralled from beginning to end and I read it all in one sitting.
All I can say is Bravo!
Now I really can’t wait to see what Ms. Luana does next!

Thank you, Ms. Luana!

The Only Series: Five Book Boxed Set by Bree Kraemer – Review by Angela Hayes

The Only Series, 5 book boxed setThe Only Series, 5 book boxed set by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Only is a 5 book boxed Set, and the complete series by Bree Kraemer. There is so much to love about this collection, from the wonderful characters, the beautiful writing, and the captivating stories. The first book in this series is how I got my introduction to Ms. Kraemer’s work, and I have followed her closely ever since.
Reading this series has been a real pleasure- meeting these charming characters and following their journeys provided me with hours of wonderful reading. The stories aren’t very long, so each book doesn’t take endless hours to get through- each one could easily be read in one sitting. The books are all contemporary romances, and range from friends-to-lovers, holiday/office romance, falling for a friend’s brother, or falling for the boss.
Each book follows one particular couple, but there are recurring characters who make appearance throughout each story, and who have their own book at some point in the series. The books can all be read as standalones, but as I have mentioned, the cast of characters are all so interesting and likeable, you will want to find out all about them by reading every book.

The series consists of:
– Only By His Touch (Book #1)
– Only With Trust (Book #2)
– If Only (Book #3)
– Only You (Book #4)
– Only For Love (Book #5)

So, if you like sexy, fun, and emotive stories that are really well written, with well-rounded, endearing, and believable characters – then this series is for you.

Thank you, Ms. Kraemer!

Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book #1) by Virginia Wine – Review by Angela Hayes

Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1)Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Surviving Eden is the first book in the Surviving series by Virginia Wine. It is a contemporary romance with a bit of a Taboo element in the form of doctor/patient, best friends’ daughter relationship- as well as some drama, great chemistry, interesting characters, and an intriguing plot.
The way the story was told gave me a really great perspective of what was going on, what the characters were thinking and how they felt.
Theo Grant is a highly respected and successful Psychiatrist who prides himself on being in control, at all times. He carries some issues from his past, and self-medicates with fast cars, women, and sex. His control will be put to the test when he is asked to take on his (recently deceased) friend’s daughter as a client, to help her deal with her grief. The sparks and chemistry are immediate, and Theo struggles to remain professional. What happens when their chemistry boils over? With his reputation and career at stake, what will he choose to do? I enjoyed reading Theo and Eden’s story and finding out what happens.
I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Thank you, Ms. Wine!

A Frothy Christmas KissA Frothy Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Frothy Christmas Kiss is the fourth book in the Christmas Kiss series by Allyson R. Abbott. It is one of my favourites of the Christmas Kiss Series and it’s a lovely, sweet holiday romance- with wonderfully endearing characters, a charming story, a dose of miscommunication, a dash of drama, which results in a winning recipe for a delightful romance story.
Ms. Abbott has such a wonderfully descriptive, well-rounded and inviting style to her writing. Her stories always draw me in and have me hanging on every word. Her books are so easy to read and always leave me with a feeling of satisfaction and warm-heartedness- and this story was no different.

Untrainable by Jamie Schlosser – Review by Angela Hayes

UntrainableUntrainable by Jamie Schlosser
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Untrainable is another delightfully funny romantic comedy by Jamie Schlosser. It was such an incredibly fun story to read, full of laugh-out-loud moments, funny banter and antics, some touching and romantic scenes, emotional moments, and is a fairly light-hearted read.
As soon as I started reading, I was pulled right into the story, easily connecting with the characters and investing in the outcome of their story. Ms. Schlosser has once again proved to be a masterful wordsmith- creating engaging stories that take us, the readers, on a journey of the heart and mind. She balances everything beautifully sprinkling lots of humour amongst the deeper, emotional parts of the storyline.
Her characters are wonderful- beautifully developed and fully realised individuals, with their own quirks and flaws. They were entirely realistic, relatable, and believable. I very much enjoyed meeting Hadley and Theo and following along as their story unfolded.
Well worth the read!

Thank-you, Ms. Schlosser!

Souls Collide (Collides Series Book #3) By Kristina Beck – Review by Angela Hayes.

Souls Collide (Collide Series #3)Souls Collide by Kristina Beck
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Souls Collide is the third book in the Collide Series by Kristina Beck. I didn’t realise going into this book that it was the third in the series- having said that though, it can be read as a standalone- but there are characters who appear in this book who have obviously had their own book previously- and they are quite intriguing and likeable also, so I have decided to go back and read the first two books and get up to date with this wonderful cast of characters and their stories. This is also my first read by Ms. Beck, and colour me impressed! I love her witty, fun and flirty writing style- she pulled me into the story right from the first page and easily held my attention the whole way through. I am an insta-fan and will absolutely be stalking her ?, I mean following her work closely from now on!
Kent Hayes is a prickly, bitter and angry man. He carries his pain like an anvil around his shoulders, and pushes all, except the few closest to him, away. He hasn’t had a relationship in ages- as he wrote women off a long time ago. But his bad attitude and beastly manner are about to get a battering from a perky, bubbly little ray of sunshine who is able to inject some light back into his grey world. He’d really love to hate her, and really does try to do so, but finds that he just can’t fight her charm. He can’t help but be impressed that she doesn’t take his rubbish, instead she gives it right back. He may just have met his match!
Alexa Kramer has a great life- a successful job she loves, close family and good friends. She may be blonde and beautiful, but she’s far more than just a pretty face. She’s the whole package- smart, confident, independent, loyal, and generous- even if she tends to swear like a sailor. But her world is shaken when she literally collides with an incredibly HOT police officer. She’s immediately attracted, but he is so rude she’s left thinking he’s incredibly obnoxious. But still, there is something behind the prickly facade, and she really wants to be the one who gets close enough to figure it out. She also secretly loves the challenge he represents, as he’s the first man who doesn’t immediately fall at her feet. As they begin to cross paths fairly regularly, the frost between them begins to slowly thaw. But soon there are concerning developments when it appears that she has attracted a stalker. Will Kent’s protective nature kick in and keep her safe?
The story is a fantastic read- it’s sweet, sassy, suspenseful, humorous, dramatic, touching, romantic, emotive, fun, and unpredictable. It is really well written, with wonderful attention to detail and descriptive scene setting. Ms. Beck built the tension and suspense really well, and had my mind reeling with possible scenarios, trying to predict where the storyline was headed.
I can’t wait to go back and read the first two books now- and I look forward to seeing what Ms. Beck does next.

Thank you, Ms. Beck!

Degrees of Power (Prestian Series Book #4) by Via Mari – Review by Angela Hayes.

Degrees of Power (Prestian Series, #4)Degrees of Power by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Degrees of Power is the fourth and final book in the Prestian series by Via Mari. I have loved reading this series and had been wondering how Via Mari was going to pull everything together, so I had fairly high expectation for this final book. After reading it I have to say what an incredibly captivating conclusion this turned out to be. Via Mari didn’t rest on her laurels, keeping the story amped up right till the end. The story/series is a great erotic romance – full of suspense, emotion, mystery, action, danger, secrets, humour, and passion. I really recommend that you read the rest of the series before starting on this one, as there are details, character information, and a bridging storyline you really should know in order to fully appreciate and get the most out of this reading experience.
Katarina and Chase have been through quite a lot, and this book sees them dealing with a lot of the ‘issues’ that have plagued them. Their relationship has evolved over the course of the series and we got to follow them through all the various ‘stages’, and the highs and lows that they’ve experienced. But along with their relationship development and finding their ‘balance- there are other unexpected developments which add an element of suspense and intensity to the whole storyline. It was quite gripping in places. The powerful chemistry between Chase and Katarina produced some sizzling scenes- but there was also some more tender moment, some humour, and emotion to be had as well.
This was a really great story that easily pulled me in and kept me engrossed the whole way through. A fantastic way to end the series. I can’t wait to see what Via Mari does next….

Thank you, Via Mari!

Fatal Legislation: A Novel (Karina Cardinal Mystery Series Book #2) by Ellen Butler – Review by Angela Hayes.

Fatal Legislation: A Novel: Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 2Fatal Legislation: A Novel: Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 2 by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fatal Legislation is the second exciting instalment in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series by Ellen Butler. This is an excellent political mystery- with danger, intrigue, action, suspense, drama, FBI investigation, and some emotion. Ms. Butler has cleverly constructed her story adding gripping tension which makes the whole story quite an unpredictable and intense ‘ride’.
Karina Cardinal is a lawyer turned lobbyist in Washington D.C. She’s smart, controlled, spirited, independent and hard-working. After the events of the last book, Karina is now in the beginning phase of a relationship with her old college friend, FBI Agent Mike Finnegan. In this book, Karina’s finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery when a Senator drops dead at her feet, and she becomes a ‘person of interest’ in the investigation. But knowing what happened the last time the FBI swooped into her life, Karina is determined to get a jump on things and do some digging of her own to try to uncover what’s going on- after all she has her reputation, her job, and perhaps even her life, on the line (not to mention that she is voraciously curious by nature). What will become of the budding relationship (with Mike) with the pressure of the investigation weighing on them both? Who/what is behind the death/s and why? Will they figure it all out?
This is a fantastic story, that had me totally engrossed from beginning to end. It has a fast pace, a smooth flow and was really easy to read. The characters are really well crafted into fully realised individuals. Ms. Butler has once again proven herself to be a masterful storyteller- easily weaving a wonderfully rich, detailed and thoroughly polished mystery- packed full of surprises which kept me guessing the whole way through.
I can’t wait for more!!

Thank you, Ms. Butler!

Heart of a Hunk: A Limited-Edition Collection of Bad Boy, Billionaire and Hunky Romance Heroes is an anthology of stories from some incredibly talented, bestselling and award winning authors. This is one of my favourite anthologies I have ever had the pleasure of reading. There are many hours of engrossing reading to be had inside the covers of this book.
There are a huge variety of stories here, from fantasy, paranormal, shifter, contemporary, second chances, friends-to-lovers, suspense, new beginnings, and many more. So, get comfortable and settle in for some wonderful reading, which will captivate you through every page. There is definitely something here for everyone- you are sure to love this collection as much as I have!

A Demon’s Kiss By: Jocelyn Dex.
Cordelia is a trainee Demon Hunter and Argoth is a demon who has been held captive for the Trainees to ‘practice’ on. What happens when this demon turns her world upside down? This was a great paranormal fantasy that pulled me in right from the beginning. I will be on the look out for more of Ms. Dex’s work.

Paradise Found By: Krista Ames.
When Bree Tanner and Colby Hess end up stuck in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, sparks fly, feelings are tested, and hearts mended. I really enjoyed this story. It was engaging, with great characters and well written plot. Looking forward to more from Ms. Ames.

No Place Like Home By: Stephanie Morris.
This was a wonderful story with two characters who have been through quite a lot. Tabitha is looking for a fresh start and hopes to find it working on a cattle ranch. Aiden Wakefield has endured a lot, which has left him emotionally closed off. Will these two find the healing they need in each other’s arms?

So Into You By: Esme Wilde.
This is a shifter romance with an original storyline. It has second chances, angst, drama, and great chemistry. Paisley and Jackson have a history, but an accident caused Paisley to push Jackson away thinking she was no longer worthy of him. Both return to their hometown when they are named beneficiaries in a will, inheriting joint ownership of a lovely old historical homestead. Soon their chemistry is bubbling over, but with secrets between them, what will happen when everything is revealed? I love a great shifter story and this one definitely fit the bill!

Christmas For Two By: Kris Jayne.
This is a great office romance that pulled me in right from the beginning. I enjoyed following along with Delilah and Griffin’s as their story unfolded. Delilah once worked for Griffin, and now he wants her to come back and work for him again with his plans. What happens when she invites him over for Christmas? A fun and flirty read!

Small Town Glamour Girl By: Stephanie Queen.
Ms. Queen is one of my ‘go-to’ authors and this story/series is a definitely one of my favourites. Julie and Jack were quite close as children, but life took them in different directions. Now Jack is back. Will he remember her after all these years? This is a wonderful story full of the magic of Christmas. Does a small town girl and a big city billionaire have any chance of a future together? You really should read the story to find out. Fantastic!

Hollidae’s Gift By: Dona R. Mercer.
Bradley is looking at starting his new ‘adventure’ after an accident destroyed his dreams. Things haven’t been easy, and he’s overcome quite a lot. He’s focused on his new plans and definitely doesn’t need any distractions. But that’s exactly what he gets in the form of Hallidae . Things definitely heat up in this fabulous holiday/office romance.

Believe By: Candace Sams.
Christa Holworth has lost her holiday spirit, but one night while she’s at work, an interesting surprise turns her world upside down, testing all her perceptions. This is a delightful story full of magic- with an extra-large helping of Christmas spirit. I really liked this story and look forward to exploring more of Ms. Sams’ books in the future.

Her Holiday Bear: Holiday Bears Series Book #1 By: Marie Mason.
Alley Stephens feels drawn to Riverton in Colorado. She hopes to find her happily ever after in the shifter town, just like in the fairy tales. When she meets Jagger Houston, the local sheriff, and Bear shifter- she thinks she’s finally found ‘the one’. But Jagger is a loner who doesn’t believe in love or fated mates. And her certainly didn’t want to be tied down, ever. But you know what they say about ‘never say never’, right? A fun, interesting and well developed shifter romance.

Old Lady By: Eliot Parker.
This is a charming, though provoking story that was a bit of a surprise. It was fully developed and had a lot packed into a small space. It didn’t feel rushed or cut short in any way. Well done!

Foxxy’s Christmas By: Allyson R. Abbott.
Ms. Abbott easily draws me into her stories, keeping me engaged the whole way through. I love how her characters are fully realised individuals who bring the story to life. There is a little suspense, love, destiny, revenge, drama, and romance. I really recommend anything Ms. Abbott writes, she never fails to deliver, and this story is no exception!

Undone By: Livia Quinn.
Elektra Carpenter lost a rare and valuable gem, along with the love of her life. Cass McKay has been searching for a way back into her life for the last year, and now he thinks he may have that chance. He’s determined to make it work, as he can’t lose her again. A great little read!

Gargoyle’s Sky By: D. Anne Paris.
Ms. Paris had me at Gargoyle. And I am happy to say that this story lived up to my expectations! Nathan Durand is a gargoyle shifter who is taken by surprise when his ex tracks him down to ask for his help. He hasn’t seen her in 7 years, after she ran off without a backward glance. Now that she needs his help, will he sort out her rogue werewolf problem? A fantastic story with shifters, secrets, trust issues, misunderstandings, assumptions, Chemistry, drama, and second chances.

Snow at Midnight: A Wardens of Midnight Novella By: Helen Scott.
Dante is a panther shifter who had a traumatic experience which haunts him, keeping him stuck in the past and unable to move forward. His panther rages out of control, and he needs to find a way to subdue his beast. When Lizzy’s father is kidnapped, she’s unsure what to do. She needs to find him before time runs out. So, Dante enters the scene and things get interesting! A wonderful paranormal romance!

The Diamond Star By: Jane Blythe.
This story is one of my favourites from this collection. It is suspenseful and intriguing- with danger, secrets, heartache, drama, and romance. Aurora Kinsley’s world will be tossed on end when her brother’s obsession with getting rich brings danger to her door. To survive, she’s going to have to trust one of the bad guys who have broken into her house. But there is a lot more to the story than first appears. I highly recommend this superb story!

Kissing St. Nick By: Devon McKay.
Nick Moretti is a firefighter who’s focused on his career. He doesn’t have time for distractions, especially a relationship. But what happens when he rescues a beautiful woman from a car crash? Will this blast from his past have him questioning his resolve? A fun read!

Running Through Wonderland By: Harper Kincaid.
“She walked towards him, her spine a column of steely determination. His head turned. Their eyes met. And that’s when everything in Lulu’s world changed.”
I loved how this story had a quote from Alice in Wonderland & Alice Through the Looking Glass (Lewis Carroll) at the beginning of every chapter. They helped to set the tone and mood of the book. Sweet and adorable!

For the Fireworks: Rent-A-Gentleman Series Book #1 By: Rebecca Fairfax.
I can’t wait to read the rest of this series! This is a wonderful, sexy, and original story that was a real pleasure to read. This is my first read by Ms. Fairfax, but it certainly won’t be my last. I am limbering up my ‘one-click’ finger to go on a clicking spree asap. Ella is a London Lawyer who ‘hires’ a gentleman for the Guy Fawkes weekend. What ensues makes for fantastic reading!

Candy Kane Kisses By: Sharon Coady.
Holly Kane is left disappointed when she finds her (young) adult children won’t be home for Christmas. She decides to book a getaway, hoping to rediscover herself. Her trip takes her to the Colorado Mountains, but when she gets there she finds that she will be staying in the owners home. Preston Carson isn’t happy when he finds his mother rented out a room in the family home to a complete strange, and over Christmas. What happens when the sparks between them ignite? Well worth the read!

Having It All: A Naked Men Novella By: Christi Barth.
This is a wonderful friends-to-lovers romance that engaged me from beginning to end. I loved meeting Josh and Annabeth and following them as they explore their attraction. But with both having complicated pasts, and issues to overcome- will they be able to make it work?

Doctor Knows Best By: Suzanne Jenkins.
A snowstorm throws Jason and Lily together. But just when things seems that things could work out for them, tragedy rips them apart. Jason will need to convince Lily that their love is worth taking a chance on. Great story. Great characters! Ms. Jenkins writes a fabulous romance that kept me guessing.

A Kiss Under A Blue Christmas Moon By: Tamara Ferguson.
A brilliant second chances romance! Ms. Ferguson never disappoints, and this sweet and romantic story is testament to her writing talents. Mia Michaels and Noah Erikson had their chance of finding happiness ripped away from them when Noah joined the Air Force six years ago. Mia is devastated and does her best to move on. Easier said than done. All those years apart, Noah has never stopped loving her. Can he convince her to open her heart to him again?

Christmas With the Millionaire Cowboy By: Joann Baker & Patricia Mason.
“Ryan left the house as fast as his cowboy shod feet allowed. He had to get away before he did something crazy like kiss Penny until they both ran out of breath. He wouldn’t even need the damn mistletoe hanging in the doorway to pretend. He was tired of pretending. He wanted to drag her beneath the Christmas tree and see just how naughty he could be.”
A steamy stepbrother romance that has a touch of holiday magic- which makes for very entertaining reading!

I went into this book not really knowing what to expect but have now come out the other side totally impressed. All the stories are really quite wonderful and engrossing, with fantastic plots, varied characters who are complex and fully developed- and each story was really well written.
There are some very suspenseful, mind blowing twists and surprises; some funny, light-hearted and touching moments; some hot and spicy times, and some tender romance. But come the end of the book you will reflect back with a smile on your face!
I really recommend this Anthology- you won’t regret buying it! It is worth every cent of the purchase price- 23 books for the price of one! Now that’s a bargain!

Thank you to all the contributing authors!

Ms. Cribbs really did a fantastic job with this story. The plot had so much happening in it- but she coordinated it all into an exciting and captivating read. She has such a great eye for detail and a fabulous imagination.

The Killmores (Killmores Series Book #2) by Martha Sweeney -Review by Angela Hayes

The Killmores (Killmore #2)

The Killmores by Martha Sweeney

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“The Devil has a seductively sweet, sinister song that tantalizes the soul to its very core. It sings more sweetly when your soul has been tainted like mine.”

…..”The nights the Devil starts to sing his lullaby is when I start to question how much longer she can hide from all of it before she’s swallowed whole by the darkness.”

The Killmores is the highly anticipated second, and final book in the Killmore Series by Martha Sweeney. It is an intense, action-packed romantic suspense- with danger, drama, conflict, passion, friendship, love, camaraderie/brotherhood, family bonds, and some humour. This book has been 2 years in the making, and I must admit that I wasn’t sure it would be worth the wait- or live up to my expectations. But I can honestly say that it was definitely well worth the wait. It had me completely hooked, biting my nails and on the edge of my seat, while everything unfolded. I was so caught up in the story that I devoured it over the course of an afternoon/evening.
As we discovered in the first book, Laurie had been placed in witness protection by the FBI. She was their ‘inside-man’ and informant on a notorious crime lord and his drug and human trafficking ring. Then years later the FBI show up in her life again, asking for help in an investigation. Aiden is one of the agents tasked with the dangerous assignment. They need Laurie as her help. As the investigation mounts, and they spend time together, feelings develop, and Laurie and Aiden soon find themselves in a romantic relationship. There is much danger and action throughout the first book- things I won’t go into because I don’t want to spoil it for you if you haven’t read it yet. I will say that if you haven’t read book one yet, you really need to do so before starting on this one as there is a bridging storyline- and you need to know all the details from the first book in order to fully appreciate and understand everything in this book.
Book two picks up a few months after the first book finished. Laurie and Aiden are travelling the world in an effort to stay one step ahead of Laurie’s past. They move around a lot, never staying in one place for very long. Laurie is haunted by her past, paranoia has set in and she’s always looking over her shoulder. She’s on edge all the time and won’t allow herself to fully relax. This makes her a little difficult to live with and Aiden is so supportive and understanding throughout it all…And she really doesn’t make it easy for him at times. So, what happens when their worst fears are realised, and Laurie finally comes face to face with her past. Will Aiden be able to rescue her, or will he be too late? You really should read this brilliant book/series and find out all the thrilling details for yourself.
This story has so much action, mystery, drama and suspense- that I ended up in a page flipping frenzy in my attempts to find out what would happen next. There were clever twists that I just didn’t see coming. It was definitely an unputdownable read!
The characters are all so well developed; having their own quirks, flaws, and personalities. Laurie really frustrated me with her attitude and being so difficult to get along with- I understand why she was like that, but I still wanted to shake her at times, as the push-pull was a bit much. Aiden was so patient with her- swoon!
Ms. Sweeney infused this story with quite a lot of intensity, emotion, suspense, sizzle, and humour. I liked the funny banter and quips, especially between Aiden, Mark and DJ. The “Fake ID” scene was hilarious, as was the names they gave their missions.
I think this series would make a great movie, or Television mini-series!
I definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Sweeney does next!

Thank you, Ms. Sweeney!

Paladin’s Hell: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) Series Book #1 by Manda Mellett – Review by Angela Hayes

Paladin's Hell: Satan's Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #1

Paladin’s Hell: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #1 by Manda Mellett

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Paladin’s Hell is the first book in the new Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) crossover Series by Manda Mellett. I didn’t know if I was going to ‘like’ the new ‘chapter’- but these two characters have intrigued me since we met them back in book #3, ‘Slick Running”. It’s bee quite a wait to get their story, and now that I have read it, I can honestly say that it was worth waiting for. I was also surprised to get four POV’s through this story- but that did give a great insight to what was happening and what the characters were thinking. Hellfire and Moira are older, and a little world weary- Jayden and Paladin are young, their relationship is still in the ‘new’ phase- so it was interesting to see these two couple each deal with their own trials and tribulations and watch them through the highs and lows of it all. I think this contrast was quite a clever idea and very well-constructed by Ms. Mellett.
I loved following along on this story- these guys have been through so much (especially Jayden), and my heart ached for them…. as I have come to expect from Ms. Mellett, there was a lot more to this story than it first appears. Her stories are always unpredictable, with twists and surprising developments, and this one was no different- taking me on a ride I won’t soon forget! She had me reading with bated breath, devouring every page to discover what would happen next. There was action, drama, danger, suspense, emotion, heat & sizzle, brotherhood, camaraderie, a great storyline, wonderful characters, and much more….
If you love a really well written, original, and riveting MC story- with complex, interesting and endearing characters- then this is definitely the book for you!
I can’t wait to read Demons story!

Thank you, Ms. Mellett!

The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe is a fantastic contemporary romance- with second chances, love, loss, heartache, a little drama, and a wonderful plot. There was sooooo much to love about this book- it has a real depth of emotion to it, which triggered a wide range of feelings in me. After reading Ms. Sorbe’s other work, I must admit that I had some high expectations for this story- and I am really happy to say that she didn’t let me down, this is every bit as good as I hoped it would be.
I love the cover on this book, but it’s the beautiful contents that really captivated me- pulling me in and keeping hooked the whole way through. I loved meeting these wonderful characters and following them through their second chance, they were so lovingly crafted into interesting and unique individuals, who we got to witness grow and develop as their story unfolded. The story was quite emotive, but also extremely enjoyable- I flew through the it in a matter of hours.

For the Love of Laura Beth is the fourth book in A Chicago Christmas Series by Aubrey Wynne. This is a wonderful, moving historical romance, set in and around the Korean War. This “Christmas story’ is woven around friendship, family bonds, sacrifice, resilience, strength, determination, overcoming obstacles, love, and drama.
I loved the way each chapter starts with an inspirational quote, as this added to the whole ‘feel’ of the story.
A very emotional, well written and thought-provoking read. The characters really made the story for me. It was entirely realistic, relatable, and believable- because Ms. Wynne has a talent for weaving (real) historical elements into her stories and bringing everything ‘to life’!
Looking forward to reading more of Ms. Wynne’s work.

Thank you, Ms. Wynne.

Hope’s Deceit (The Fated Series Book #2) by Angela McPherson – Review by Angela Hayes.

Hope's Deceit (The Fated #2)Hope’s Deceit by Angela McPherson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Little by little, normal slipped farther away.”

“Remember, fear keeps you from being who you truly are. Embrace your fate.”

Hopes Deceit is the second book in The Fated series by Angela McPherson. This is a spellbinding fantasy, with paranormal elements, Greek Mythology, a Curse, Immortals, Light and dark, good vs evil, mystery, drama, destiny, action, adventure, suspense, danger, intrigue, magic, and some romance. This incredible story is woven around the legend of Pandora’s Box and it’s a wonderfully original and exciting read! As I said in my review of the first book, this story/series definitely has a ‘Percy Jackson’ feel to it, and would make an exciting television series.
We catch up with Trinity, Blain and the rest of the cast as the story picks up not long after the events of book one ended. They are still coming to terms with what happened and almost losing everything during their confrontation with Melia. Trinity is still adjusting to her powers. She worries that things are changing, within herself, with Blain, her family and friends. Some things come as shocking revelations, while others she’s not quite sure how to ‘fix’ it. With an evil ‘darkness’ making its presence known, Trinity will have to utilise all her training and new-found ‘power’ if they are to defeat the threat, and survive.
I absolutely love Ms. McPherson’s books, and this series has become one of my absolute favourites, ever!! From the incredible world building, to the wonderful mythology that was woven through the story- this book really gave me an exciting reading experience that I didn’t want to end. The characters are really superb- so well developed and given ‘life’ by Ms. McPherson- and were crafted into fully realised individuals with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. Trinity learns quite a lot over the course of this story, about herself, Blain, her family, and friends- I loved seeing her continue to grow and develop as the story unfolds.
As with the first book, Ms. McPherson was so imaginative and clever in creating this plot/series- adding lots of seemingly small, intricate, and inter-connected details that built the mystery, suspense and tension of the story so incredibly well. I spent a lot of the time on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen and trying to put all the pieces together. Then there were the surprising developments and twists which added another layer of intrigue and excitement to the whole. My mind was reeling trying to predict how the story would play out! And that ending…. OMG!!!
The story is set to continue in Book #3, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it!!
Pure perfection!!!!

Thank You, Ms. McPherson!!

The Debt Collector: An Underground Bad Boys Romance by India Kells – Review by Angela Hayes.

The Debt Collector (An Underground Bad Boys Romance)The Debt Collector by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Debt Collector is An Underground Bad Boy Romance by India Kells. OMG!! This Book was such an awesome read! Ms. Kells is one of my favourite authors, so when I saw this book it was an instant ‘one-click’, I didn’t even bother reading the blurb- so to say this book surprised me is a bit of an understatement! It wasn’t what I had been expecting- it was so much MORE! This has a ménage/threesome aspect to the story, which I don’t normally go out of my way to hunt down, not that I don’t like them- it’s just really hard to find a good one. This is one of the exceptions- wonderfully written, with sizzlingly HOT encounters, drama, danger, pleasure, pain, heartache, intrigue, suspense, and romance. I devoured it in a couple of hours, loving every minute and not wanting it to end. There is more to this story than just lust and the ménage- there is a ‘deeper’ story, with beautifully flawed characters fighting their demons and looking for some redemption. The characters really brought this story to life and gave it a believability.
One thing I have learned about Ms. Kells’ stories is that things are never simple, there are always layers and complexities to be revealed. And there is definitely a lot more to Locke (and Gage) than is first apparent. He is quite complex- with a back-story that made my heart ache for what he’d been through. I don’t want to say too much, and give anything away, because you really should read all the incredible details for yourself- you really won’t be disappointed!!
I can’t wait to read more of this series!

Thank you, Ms. Kells!

Santa’s Little Helper by Shaan Ranae – Review by Angela Hayes

Santa's Little HelperSanta’s Little Helper by Shaan Ranae
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Santa’s Little Helper by Shaan Ranae is a very short, novella sized, holiday romance.
I don’t want to spoil the story by giving away too much- because the story is so short it would be easy to give away too much. Jacob Laurel (Jake) has taken up the reigns of the family department store from his father upon his retirement. He hopes to make the business the ‘powerhouse’ that it could become.
With Christmas fast approaching, their store is amongst the many that have an ‘in-house’ Santa for families and children to visit in the lead up to Christmas. With people due to arrive to see Santa, there is a bit of an ‘emergency’ when their ‘Santa’ is unable to do the job. They need a replacement , and quickly. But on such short notice that’s impossible. So, it falls on Jake to put on the suit and play Santa. What happens when he meets Santa’s Little Helper? Sparks fly and the fun begins!
This is a sweet, spicy, funny, and enjoyable light-hearted story. I would have preferred a longer version, so the story had time to develop a bit more depth.
I look forward to exploring some of Ms. Ranae’s other work, as this is my first read from her, to see what else she can do.

Thank you, Ms. Ranae!

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology by Various Authors – Review by Angela Hayes

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas AnthologyHometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology by Carrie Dalby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

Hometown Heroes: A Christmas Anthology is a collection of five short stories by six wonderfully talented authors. These authors all have different styles and approaches to writing; all are unique and individual- but each story uses the same theme as their inspiration for writing their contribution to this anthology- the common thread running through each of the stories celebrates everyday heroes. Whether their heroism is gained through devotion, or leaving behind the safe and familiar in the hope of adventure and challenge, or saving a life by grabbing them from the clutches of death, or by being a war hero, or being someone who fights for what they believe in, or having the courage to leave a painful past behind in order to embrace the future- we meet a variety of leading characters, each one a hero in their own right and are unique to their storyline. All the stories are set around Christmas, and are packed full of Christmas spirit.

The Anthology contains:

-Courtship and Courage By: Carrie Dalby
-When Time Stood Still By: Chelsi Arnold and J.D Boudreaux
-Hobbes House Noel By: C.J Petterson
-Talking in Code By: E.A Hale
-Safe Haven By: Jolie St. Amant

All the stories are so engaging and believable- with wonderfully written plots, and well developed characters. I have read books by several of these talented authors before- but three of the authors were new to me… so I was excited to not only read the work of the authors I knew and loved, but also get an introduction to some authors who are new to me.
So, settle down for some wonderful reading, which will entice you with heartfelt romance, some suspense, a bit of mystery, history, some paranormal, action, drama, adventure, and more. There is something here for everyone!
I really recommend this Anthology- you won’t regret buying it! It is worth every cent of the purchase price- and by purchasing this anthology you will be helping out a charity in the process, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Cajun Navy Relief! #Win-Win!

Thank you to all the contributing authors!

Alive (Sundown Series Book #3) by Courtney Konstantin – Review by Angela Hayes

Alive (Sundown Series Book 3)Alive by Courtney Konstantin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Alive is the third thrilling instalment in the Sundown Series by Courtney Konstantin. This is a brilliant zombie, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic story with heart pounding action, drama, danger, government experiments, a plague, and a fight for survival. I am not kidding when I say I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of this story. The book is intense- and Ms. Konstantin took me on an adventure I won’t soon forget. There are a LOT of Zombie/apocalyptic stories that have made the rounds over the past few years, but this one is an original take on Zombie lore- easily pulling me in and keeping so totally engrossed that I lost all sense of time and place. I was in a page-flipping frenzy, desperately needing to know what was on the next page, and in store for the characters. Completely absorbed by the story, I finished it in one sitting. I am still thinking about it several hours later! Now that’s a sign of a great story and a superb author!
Ms. Konstantin has a vividly descriptive style that brought every scene to life. I was right there, in amongst the action, fighting for survival! The story is so gripping, gruesome, and disturbing- but at the same time there is a depth to the story and the multi-dimensional characters, that really sets this book apart from others in the same genre.
This is my first read from Ms. Konstantin- and even though this could be read as a standalone, it is abundantly clear that there is so much more to know, and that has made me even more intrigued by this fantastic story/series. I will definitely be going back to read the first two books, as well!
Honestly, if you love a thrilling read, Zombie/apocalyptic/survival stories with a gripping, well-written plot, and incredibly interesting characters- then this book should on your TBR! It’s a definite ‘must read’!
Addictive reading! Can’t wait for more!

Thank you, Ms. Konstantin!

Beachcomber GoneBeachcomber Gone by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beachcomber Gone is the ninth book in the Beachcomber Investigations series by
Stephanie Queen. This is a romantic detective series with mystery, suspense, some drama, action, intrigue, danger, set-ups, and more… This story could be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading some, if not all the other books, just to get a better understanding of these wonderful characters, their backstories and everything they’ve been through to get them to this point.
Another brilliant instalment from Ms. Queen. There really is so much to love about this series and characters, and I have become quite emotionally invested in Shana and Dane’s lives- all the while following them on their investigations/adventures and trying to unravel everything and piece it all together as it all plays out.
I never tire of Ms. Queen’s stories, and she manages to pull me in each and every time with her addictive plots and descriptive style. Her attention to detail makes the stories come to life in a very realistic and believable way. The characters are complex, a little quirky and entirely endearing. Ms. Queen always delivers, and this book is no exception!
As Dane and Shana look to take their relationship to the next level, they travel to Australia so Dane can meet Shana’s family. But with these two, danger is never very far away. So, before the first chapter has even ended, Dane and Shana find themselves thrown headfirst into a case that will test them on every level. With set-up, old cases and enemies coming back to haunt her- the action, tension, conflict and danger had me on the edge of my seat. Can they find a way out of this predicament, or will this be the case that breaks them?
Another brilliant Beachcomber novel. I love catching up with these two characters and their stories just seems to get better and better as the series progresses!

Thank you, Ms. Queen!

A Tangy Christmas Kiss (Christmas Kiss Series Book #2) by Allyson R. Abbott – Review by Angela Hayes

A Tangy Christmas KissA Tangy Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Tangy Christmas Kiss is the second book in the Christmas Kiss series by Allyson R. Abbott. It is a sweet holiday romance that confirms that anything that can go wrong- will! There is hilarity, funny antics, language barriers, challenges, romance, and endearing characters. There was a lot more to this story than it may seem from first appearances. Melanie (Mel) had me intrigued right from the first page, as I followed her on her story. From the moment she gets the call from her mother asking her to look after her aunts’ home while her aunt is in hospital- everything that could go wrong certainly does. Her promise to her mother takes her on a mad-cap journey that throws her right out of her comfort zone, leaving her feeling a little lost and vulnerable. But what happens when a sexy stranger comes to her aid? Yes, there might be a serious language barrier, but he seems to want to help her non-the-less. Will she be desperate enough to let a complete stranger help her? What happens when he sees her to her destination? Mel is unprepared for everything that’s about to happen, once she arrives at her aunts. What will the future hold? All this and more can be discovered be reading this delightful story…
Ms. Abbott has such a wonderfully descriptive, warm, and inviting style to her writing. Her stories always draw me in and keep me engaged the whole way through. They are so easy to read and always leave feeling good- as this story did.
This may be a story set around Christmas and the holidays, but it is a lovely story that deserves to be read, and enjoyed, at any time of the year!

Thank you yet again, Ms. Abbott!!

A Second Chance (The Powder River Pack Series Book #1) by Brooke May – Review by Angela Hayes

A Second Chance (The Powder River Pack #1)A Second Chance by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Second Chance is the first book in The Powder River Pack Series by Brooke May. It is a great paranormal romance, with second chances, werewolves, action, anger, bitterness, heartache, pain, passion, secrets, lies, trust issues, conflict, drama, and more.
Annabelle Daniels is a successful wildlife photographer whose work takes her all over the world. Annabelle loves what she does, she’s worked hard to get to where she is, especially being able to work alongside her best friend Spence. She is highly respected in her field and has built a great life. But there is a part of her that feels incomplete and lonely. She often thinks about her childhood home, the place she left with her mother, when her parents divorced years ago- leaving her heart behind in the process. She hasn’t been back since, but when she is called to take care of her dying fathers affairs, she has no choice but to venture back to the place that holds such painful memories.
Derek Sumerland is a werewolf who has a very painful past. His experiences have left him angry and bitter- a difficult man to be around. He lost his joy for life, now getting by day to day, but not really living. You see, Derek thought he’d found his mate for life, back when he was on 13 years-old. She was his everything, the light in his life. Then she up and left him, shattering his heart in the process. He is a broken man, haunted by dreams of the woman he loved. So, imagine his shock to see her walk into the bar where he works. What happens you ask? Well, you really should read all the exciting details for yourself!
I really enjoyed this story and reading Ms. Mays take of the shifter/werewolf lore. The characters are well developed, interesting, and endearing (except for the one we’re meant to hate)- I especially loved meeting Grandma Pearl, she added an extra element of fun to the story and pretty much stole any scene she was in.
The only real issue I had (and it is just my own preference I suppose) was with the repeated information at the beginning of each perspective transition/change over- going over some of the same information we’d just read, but from the other characters perspective. Apart from being frustrating, it just slowed down the flow for me. But this is somewhat of a minor issue and didn’t really detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the story.
I am really looking forward to reading all the other ‘pack’ members stories- starting with Alpha Mason, in the next book. Can’t wait!

Thank you, Ms. May!

Distant Memory: She Remembered Everything (Solum Series Book #3) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Angela Hayes

Distant MemoryDistant Memory by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Distant Memory is the third book in the Solum series by Colleen S. Myers. It is a science fiction/fantasy story with action, adventure, aliens, magic, revenge, romance, conflict, friendship, suspense, emotion, and drama. This follows on from book #1 and #2, as the story continues from one book to another, so I really recommend reading the first two book before starting on this one- in order to have all the backstory, character information, and other relevant details, which will help you better appreciate this story.
This story has an intense, raw and gritty ‘race-against-time” component to it that really had me wondering how things would play out. It picks up where book two left off, and even though it was a little ‘slower’ to get going than the other two books, it is still a great read. There is some repetitive details and information which also made the story ‘lag’ at times.
As with the first book, the world building is excellent, with wonderful descriptions and details. The characters were well crafted, interesting and original- we catch up with characters we know, as well as meeting some new ones. The story was ‘tied up’ somewhat at the end, but I still have questions and things I want to know. I don’t know if there will be more books, but I certainly hope so.
Another great instalment in the series.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Myers does next!

Thank you, Ms. Myers!

The Confectioner's Coup (Confectioner Chronicles, #2)The Confectioner’s Coup by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Confectioner’s Coup is the second book in The Confectioner Chronicles by Claire Luana. This book/series is an exceptionally good fantasy story, intricately woven with action, adventure, danger, mystery, suspense, humour, fun, heartache, tension, conflict, hostile enemies, disappearances, investigations, and a sprinkle of romance. I adore Ms. Luana’s books, and this series is no exception- so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and continue the story. To say I had high expectations would be an understatement, but I just knew Ms. Luana wouldn’t let me down- and she definitely didn’t.
The story is multi-faceted and incredibly detailed, with wonderful descriptions and masterful world-building bringing the whole story to life right before my eyes. The characters are so beautifully crafted- fully realised individuals who continue to develop and grow over the course of the story. Once again Ms. Luana proves her mastery of language and storytelling, bringing another fascinating and spellbinding story into ‘being’! I was so captivated by this wonderful story, that I read it all in one sitting- completely enthralled from beginning to end.
All I can say is WOW!
Bring on Book #3!

Leaving Jackson WolfLeaving Jackson Wolf by P.A. Kane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Leaving Jackson Wolf by P.A Kane is a superb contemporary fiction story that really surprised me by how much I loved it. Not having read the author before, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but the blurb looked promising and a little different from what I have been reading of late, so I took a chance and dove in. I really am having trouble doing this brilliant book the justice that it deserves… The author really is an incredible storyteller, who took me on a journey that I won’t soon forget. This book contains a coming of age story, with a very strong friendship at the core of it all. The story also covers some social and political ‘issues’ that really added an extra element, and atmosphere, to the whole story. The plot is quite emotive- I really felt so much while following along on this story- my heart ached for the character/s at times.
It is the incredible characters, their connection- and their bond of friendship that is the true star of this novel. They bring this story to life, elevating it and setting it apart from others in the same genre. I cannot recommend this story enough!
I will definitely be reading more of Mr. Kane’s work from here on out!

Thank you, Mr. Kane!

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Angela Hayes

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set)Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“There’s a secret club in Ocean City, Maryland, where swingers from all over the mid-Atlantic converge every weekend to frolic and play in its many themed rooms. Welcome to the Factory, where in the midst of all the fun, there’s always a romance blossoming, sometimes where you least expect it.”

This contains the first three books in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. The stories are set in and around a swinger’s club and gives us a glimpse into that ‘lifestyle’. To many, this story may seem way out of your comfort zone, but I encourage you to keep an open mind and dive in, because you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find between the covers of these beautiful stories. Yes, this collection/series does have the swinging element to it, and while that is an important part of the plot, there is so much more to them all.
I love how Ms. Alexander weaves the swinging lifestyle into some wonderful romantic stories- while also infusing them with emotion, struggles, drama, acceptance, passion, and steamy moments. She’s a superb storyteller who writes fantastic, well balanced, sex-positive, realistic, and memorable stories! There’s never a dull moment to be found inside one of Ms. Alexander’s books, that’s for sure!

Fisher of Men (Book #1)

Fisher of Men is the first book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. This book is a wonderful, interesting and informative contemporary romance that explores the world of swinging- and what happens when a minister’s daughter meets a sexy swinger.
Leah Miller, who works as an Assistant Manager at The Pearl hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. She’s the daughter of a small town country Minister and has grown up with strict Christian values. It was always assumed that Leah would follow in her parents’ footsteps and join them in their ecclesiastical duties. But Leah had her own ideas and wanted to pave her own path, so she goes against their wishes and takes a scholarship to Cornell, getting a degree in Hotel Management. Little does she know that this decision will change her life forever. Meeting Captain “Cap” Chris Sheldon at a private party in the hotel where she’s working will be the first step on her new path, because it’s here that she discovers the private party Cap is attending is a swingers’ party….. and he is a swinger. This only the beginning of her journey where she will learn a lot about herself, her faith, and life.
This book is nothing like I thought it would be, and was deeper, sweeter and more meaningful than I had expected.

The Catch (Book #2)

The Catch is the second book in The Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. This book is a wonderful contemporary romance that takes us on a journey into the world of swinging, so if you don’t like sexy, steamy, and erotic- then this probably isn’t the book for you!
But, having said that, don’t let the ‘swinging’ part of the story put you off reading this really great story, because if you go into it with an open mind you will be surprised by what you’ll find under the cover of this superb story, there is much more to the story than the erotic elements. There is depth and substance.
Paisley Parker is new to town and has been hired as a manager for the Factory (Private Swingers Club). She’s the definition of sex-bomb: a curvy burlesque dancer from New York. She doesn’t do relationships, only indulging in casual hook-ups. But is there more to her story? Is her confidence masking a deeper vulnerability?
In an effort to develop a website for the Factory, Paisley hires someone with the expertise to get the job done right. Enter Calvin Mitchell. He’s immediately drawn to her and would like to see where their mutual attraction may lead. So, what happens when this one-woman-man meets this wild and sexy woman? What happens when he learns about the club and the ‘lifestyle’? What about their age difference? And what happens when the past returns to haunt her?
This story is really well written, DUH- it’s Phoebe Alexander! There’s drama, emotion, passion, erotica, some suspense, surprises, friendship, connections, and lots of steam. The characters were wonderful and went through some development and growth over the course of the story. Once again Ms. Alexander has produced a enticing and sex-positive story, that drew me in right from the get-go.

Siren Call (Book #3)

Siren Call is the third book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by Phoebe Alexander. This is an erotic F/F romance with some drama and mystery.
This book is nothing like I thought it would be. I wasn’t sure about the F/F aspect to the story, not that I don’t like it, so much as it’s hard to find a good one with a story that has some substance, as well as some spice. I shouldn’t have doubted it though, because I know Ms. Alexander is such a talented author and always produces a memorable and entertaining read. She writes beautifully and has a relaxed, detailed and descriptive style that embraces you and guides you into the heart of her story.
Jessie Martinez is a Police Officer doing a favour for some friends. They ask her to look out for one of their club members. It’s not really such a bother, because the club member in question has caught Jessie’s attention, and she’s more than attracted and intrigued. There is definitely more to the situation than meets the eye and Jessie is determined to discover what it is.
Sirena joined the club as a way to escape. A distraction and diversion from her painful memories and the heartache she’s endured. She wasn’t going to ‘crack’ so easily. But the more she gets to know Jessie the weaker her defences were becoming. What is she hiding? What happens when her secrets are revealed? What does fate have in store for them? You really must read the story and find out all the incredible details, because I don’t want to give away any spoilers her.
I love these characters, they are so lovingly crafted- fully developed individuals who are realistic and totally believable.
The story is passionate, erotic, emotional, interesting and entertaining. I loved how Ms. Alexander was able to bring the whole story to life and give it energy, heart and soul. I also appreciate sex-positive and body-positive messages that Ms. Alexander promotes through her storylines. This book is definitely a real showcase for/of the authors writing skills……

So, as you can see there is a variety of storylines here to explore. All are beautifully written, detailed and descriptive- nothing but the best from Ms. Alexander. Well worth the read- take a leap into the Eastern Shore series today- you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what you find here!

Thank you, Ms. Alexander!

Snatching Dianna (Feisty Lawyers Series Book #1) by Seelie Kay – Review by Angela Hayes

Snatching Dianna (Feisty Lawyers, #1)Snatching Dianna by Seelie Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Snatching Dianna is the first book in the Feisty Lawyers Series by Seelie Kay. This is a short story, which makes it a very quick and easy read. There is intrigue, suspense, humour, action, adventure, danger, drama, some romance, and a bit of spice.
Dianna Murphy is a beautiful, smart and savvy college student, who’s studying law. When she goes missing, her roommate is frantic and approaches law professor Janet MacLachlan for help in tracking her down. Janet is an ex-secret agent, and she in turn enlists the help of her husband Cade Matthews (who is a covert operative) and the local police chief, David Manders. Realizing they have a lot of ground to cover and need more man-power, they also recruit David’s wife, as well as several law students- and the ‘team’ gets to work to try and figure out what happened- before Dianna disappears forever. And so starts a chain of events that takes the investigators (and us) on quite the adventure. Across continents, from the United States to Morocco, this story is quite a gripping tale. An intense investigation leads to an international human trafficking ring… and now it’s not just Dianna’s safety on the line!
I really enjoyed this clever little suspense. I love the characters, having met Janet MacLachlan, Cade Matthews and Anders Mark in “Hanging From a Ledge”- which was one of the short stories in the “Kinky Briefs Cinque” collection. I loved them then, and now after this story, I love them even more. I enjoyed their chemistry, funny banter, quips and antics. It made them quite realistic and very endearing.
I think Janet and Cade’s adventures would make a great Television series.
I can’t wait to see what new adventures and investigations await in the future instalments of this new series!

Thank you, Ms. Kay!

Reckless - An AnthologyReckless – An Anthology by Mika Jolie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reckless is a fantastic Anthology of stories from four brilliant authors. Each author brings their own style and adds their own flavour to the collection, making for superb reading. The authors may all be different, but their styles and stories do complement one another, too. All the author’s have used the same inspiration as the basis for their stories- which is taking chances, doing the unexpected, throwing caution to the wind, and being Reckless when in pursuit of love and happiness- we get to follow along as they explore this notion.

The Anthology contains:
-Layla’s Chance By: Mika Jolie
-Dirty Martinis By: P.M Carson
-Into the Deep By: Kylie Stewart
-The Spy Who Kissed Me By: Sharla Lovelace

Ms. Jolie and Ms. Stewart are authors whose work I am quite familiar with- but Ms. Carson and Ms. Lovelace are new-to-me- so reading this anthology has not only given me stories from two authors I already love, but introduced me to two others who I will be adding to my TBR and reading more of in the future.
Each story was well written and engaging, keeping me entertained from beginning to end. I highly recommend this anthology, you really should dive in right now, you really won’t be disappointed!

Degrees of Control (Prestian Series Book #3) by Via Mari – Review by Angela Hayes

Degrees of Control (Prestian Series, #3)Degrees of Control by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Degrees of Control is the third book in the Prestian series by Via Mari. It is an erotic romantic suspense- full of emotion, highs and lows, mystery, action, danger, secrets, danger, passion, and more. I have been really enjoying this series, zipping my way through each book just because I need to know what’s going to happen. I had high expectations for this book and am happy to say that it was just as good as the first two, and definitely kept me hooked the whole way through. This book should be read as part of the series as there is a bridging story that continues from book to book, plus there are all the character introductions and other relevant information that you will need in order to really appreciate the story/series- so I strongly advise you to read the first two books before starting off on this one.
After the events in the previous book this one picks up with Kate deciding that Chase’s choices aren’t for her and has turned down his marriage proposal. But circumstances arise where she will need to play along and put up a front of being a happy couple. With their chemistry simmering just below the surface, it doesn’t take much for their passions to unleash. But with so much still up in the air, Katarina has some decisions to make……
Kate really frustrated me a lot through this story with all her trust issues, being hard to get along with, and generally being difficult and stubborn- placing herself and others in danger. I wanted to yell at her at times.
There is plenty of suspense and the tension was built to a very high level- which had me on the edge of my seat a lot of the time. There were a few unexpected developments and twists which kept thing quite interesting and had me clamouring to know how it all works out. Bring on the next book!

Thank you, Ms. Mari!
