Broken Sand Dollar (The Sand Dollar Series Book 3) by J.D. Boudreaux – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Broken Sand DollarBroken Sand Dollar by J.D. Boudreaux
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Broken Sand Dollar by JD Boudreaux is book three of The Sand Dollar Series. To better understand the events that take place in this book, I highly suggest reading book one and two first.

This series spans over years of Alex’s life. The author effortlessly weaves together present tense with flashbacks of Alex’s past. When you read the first two books you start to get an idea of how you think the third book will go but then it takes you on a completely different journey. Alex’s journey self reflection, coupled with the therapy he does, teaches him a lot about himself.

This book was very well written. I enjoyed seeing the differences in all the characters and how they reacted to different experiences. I was hooked as soon as I started reading this book. It was a great conclusion to the series!

Little Do You Know (Bayou Devils MC 5)Little Do You Know by A.M. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Little Do You Know by A.M. Myers is book five of the Bayou Devils MC series. This book can be read as a standalone but to understand all the characters that make an appearance in this book, I suggest reading the books in order. Each book is amazing it it’s own way so you’d do yourself a disservice by not reading them all.

Kady and Noah have been together forever. A turn of events has separated them but Noah is determined to find her. Noah has loved her most of his life, he’s not giving up now no matter how much of a fight Kady puts up. Kady knows Noah is her soul mate but she’s experienced too much pain the last few years. She’s not sure if she can put it all behind her and let him back into her life.

This book blew me away. I literally read it in one sitting. I could feel Noah’s pain. He desperately wanted Kady back in his life and Kady, because of the last few years, is reluctant. My heart broke for both of them. This book is a emotional roller coaster and I wish I could read it for the first time over and over again!

Feathers - A NovelFeathers – A Novel by Kylie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Feathers by Kylie Stewart is a book I absolutely could not put down. I read this book in just a few hours because I HAD to know what was going to happen next.

Charlotte Waters has experienced things no one should ever have to go through. She’s finally safe but vows to never trust another man. She does not expect Hawk McLean to see into her nor does she expect to forge a friendship with him. When Hawk first saw Charlotte, she was just a young teen but he couldn’t look away. He had a desire to know her unlike the other girls his grandmother saved. Charlotte can’t help how she feels about Hawk but he keeps leaving and she thinks it might be time to give up. Does Hawk realize his feelings for Charlotte or are they destined to stay the friends they became?

I absolutely loved this story. I didn’t know what to expect when I started it but I couldn’t put it down. Charlotte experienced so much pain and trauma but she came out the other side and built a life. I loved her resilience. Hawk was really trying to do what he thought was best. You could see his genuine care for Charlotte. This is definitely a five star read!

Shattered LoveShattered Love by Nivia Borell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shattered Love by Nivia Borell is book one of the Forever Us Series. This book is a contemporary romance that had me glued to my seat until the last page. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but books like this is why I continue to read books by new to me authors. This book was so emotional.

Life is not easy. Life is about putting in work, making choices and then dealing with the consequences. Bria and Damien’s lives have changed due to circumstances they’ve faced and how they’ve dealt with those circumstances. Will the circumstances of their past determine how they live their future?

This book was very well written. You could feel the pain, betrayal and all the other feelings that consumed Bria and Damien. These characters had quite the journey and the book makes you feel everything right along with them. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for these characters.

Surviving Grace: Book Five ( Surviving Series)Surviving Grace: Book Five by Virginia Wine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Surviving Grace by Virginia Wine is book five of the Surviving Series. This book is a novella and is written in a poetic format. This book should be read by readers 18+ due to the content and language.

Grace is a beautiful, strong woman that experienced a lot of pain and devastation. There is quite a bit of suspense as you wait to see how Grace’s future will play out. I couldn’t put the book down. There is so much emotion in this book you can’t help but feel a sliver of what Grace must have been feeling. She is such a great character. She is so strong and didn’t let herself get beat down even though at times she didn’t think highly of herself.

This was a great book. It was interesting to read it in poetic format. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it when I first started it but once I got use to it, it was really good. I definitely recommend this whole series!

Rush (The Boys of RDA, #1)Rush by Megan Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rush by Megan Matthews is book one of The Boys of RDA series. This book is a contemporary romantic comedy and the first book I’ve read by this author. I really enjoyed the story.

Aspen has everything going for her. She has a new apartment thanks to her sister in law, even if it has ridiculous rules for her to follow. She is going to stick to her plan and focus on work. When she quite literally falls into Finn, things start to change a little. Finn seems to be around any time Aspen needs him which has her scared that it is too good to be true. Will Finn be there for Aspen when she really needs him?

The book was enjoyable. The characters were engaging. The book was written so well that I could picture myself in San Francisco. Overall, the book was great, engaging and fun to read. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

Hard as Steel: Book four (Hard as Steel: Book four by Virginia Wine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hard as Steel by Virginia Wine is book four of the Surviving series. This series should be read in order to get the full story. Many of the characters are ongoing and overlap from previous books. This book is intended for readers 18+ due to some content. This book has quite a bit of suspense, I found myself reading quicker just to see what would happen.

Steel Archer is like the ultimate alpha. He protects what matters to him and those he cares for. He’s the strong, silent, independent type. Steel has walls around his heart but he may have met his match in Nicole Lancaster. That is until he works a job that has him helping Grace. Grace is a lost soul and romance may not be in the picture for her in the near future. Who will be Steel’s match?

There is so much emotion in this book. It is written so well you can’t help but feel what the characters feel. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series holds.

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Angelina Frazzini

The Light at DawnThe Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is a stand alone contemporary novel. This book does contain sensitive subjects and you may need tissues to make it through but this book is worth it.

I don’t want to say too much about what happened in the book because I don’t want to give any of it away. It was seriously amazing. I didn’t really know what I was getting in to but I’ve read other books by K.L so I figured I’d give it a go. I got so much more than I bargained for and in an amazing way. It touched on a very tough subject and the debate surrounding that but didn’t shine a negative light on either side of the debate and is seriously thought provoking and very emotional. This book is the epitome of an emotional roller coaster. I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced so many things while reading a book. If I had a list of books that I could pretend I didn’t read so I could go back and read it for the first time again, this book would be on the list. This book should be on everyone’s to read list!

Caught in Make-Believe (The Caught Series Book 3)Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Caught in Make-Believe by Sharleen Scott is book three of The Caught Series. This book is a romantic suspense. There is just enough mystery and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat to find out how the story will play out until the end of the book. I suggest reading books one and two as there are some previous characters mentioned.

Samantha has been unlucky in love. She’s just about decided to give up on relationships all together. Jace’s job as an investigative journalist hasn’t been easy. Especially after the threats he’s received. Back in town after a lengthy disappearance, she meets Samantha and instantly knows he’s attracted to her. Samantha knows it’s unlikely that Jace will stay long term but despite that knowledge and the danger Jace’s presence can bring, their attraction leads to a relationship. What will the future hold for Jace and Samantha??

I really enjoyed this book. The suspense kept me riveted and I couldn’t wait to finish the book just to find out what would happen!

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers – Review by Angelina Frazzini

A Tendency Dark and DangerousA Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Tendency Dark and Dangerous by Emmalyn Danvers is a dark romance with a twist. This story is told in free verse. I’ve never read a book that was written in free verse so it took a little bit to get used to it but once I did, I couldn’t put it down.

Evangeline has everything she could want, which is hard to believe after enduring her childhood but as far as appearances go, she has the perfect life. Good friends, great boyfriend, and a job that may land her a promotion, what more could she want. When she least expects it, she meets Landon Kelly and there is something about him that draws her in. Landon is persistent, dark and commanding. Surely, it’s only a matter of time before Evangeline gives in. The question is, what will happen when she does? Perfect isn’t so perfect anymore and as the reader, we are there to witness it all.

This book is so emotional, I felt all over the place. I can only imagine how Evangeline felt. This story is not a light read but it is so worth it. I highly suggest, even if you’ve never read a book in free verse, you give this book a chance!

Caught in the Spin by Sharleen Scott is book two of the Caught series. This book can be read as a standalone but I suggest reading them in order because book one is just as good.

Tallie lands a job that definitely makes life better for her and her son. Things are looking up for Tallie and they keep getting better when she meets Tom Black. Why Tallie doesn’t expect is the danger that is lurking. Tom will do what he has to to protect Tallie but he may not be able to.

There is quite a bit of suspense in this book and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Tom and Tallie are great characters. I was rooting for them the whole time but my emotions were on a rollercoaster. So far, I think they may be my favorite characters in this series. Can’t wait to read more!

The Shape of Trust by Brinda Berry is book five of the Stand by Me Series. This book can be read as a standalone.

Lily really needs a job so the job at the bookstore was perfect. She didn’t expect Webb or the feelings she would develop for him. When he needs help with his daughter, Lily offers her help. She loves kids and this gets her more time with Webb.

Webb has messed up a lot in life. He can’t afford to mess up where his daughter is concerned so agreeing to Lily’s offer of help while a tough choice was a no brainer.

Both Webb and Lily have their secrets. Will their secrets and the past threaten the future they hope to build?

I absolutely loved this book. There were some unexpected turns but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! Lily is so strong and independent. She’s found a way to push through and keep moving forward with life when it would have been so easy to make a few different choices. Webb has overcome something not a lot of people can overcome. These characters together are great. I absolutely recommend this book!

The Way You Are (The Carolina Connections, #5)The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Way You Are by Sylvie Stewart is book five of the Carolina Connections series. This book is Liv and Brett’s story. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down.

Liv is smart and knows want she needs out of life. When she meets Brett, she immediately friend zoned him. She has her boyfriend and baseball, she’s good. That is until she realizes she’s starting to crush on him. Brett is used to being friend zoned. He’s always the friend. This time however, it’s not going to work for him. He has feelings for Liv and he won’t be just the friend. Will Brett get Liv to take him out of the friend zone?

Paladin’s Hell: Satan’s Devil MC (Colorado Chapter) #1 by Manda Mellett – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Paladin's Hell: Satan's Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #1Paladin’s Hell: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #1 by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Paladin’s Hell by Manda Mellett is book one of the Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) Series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it was really good.

Paladin became Jayden’s savior. From there feelings developed. However, Jayden was way too young for anything to come of those feelings. Paladin has waited patiently and will wait for Jayden as long as he needs. Threats against Jayden force Jayden and Paladin to Colorado where everything changes. Paladin’s new prez is Hellfire. Throughout the book there is tension between Hellfire and his wife and those tensions translate into how they treat Jayden and Paladin. Will their young love survive or will they be tested too much?

I enjoyed this book. I liked that not only was it told from Jayden and Paladins point of view but it also gave us Hellfire and Moira’s point of view. Instead of just watching things happen between both couples you experience it through their POV. This book is very well written. I can’t wait to read more.

Surviving Jordan (Surviving Series Book 3) by Virginia Wine – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Surviving Jordan (Surviving Series Book 3)Surviving Jordan by Virginia Wine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Surviving Jordan by Virginia Wine is book three of the Surviving Series. Due to content and language this book is suggested for readers 18+. It is suggested that you read the first two books first so you get the whole story.

From the moment Ben laid eyes on her, he’s known Jordan is the one he wants to be with. He just could never cross the line. Then Ben gets information that makes Jordan even more off limits than before. There is serious attraction between the two but Jordan can tell Ben is pulling away so to protect herself she does as well. Will these two find their way to each other or will Jordan always be forbidden to Ben?

What I enjoyed about this book is similar with the other books in the series. This book focuses on the main characters but the book also picked up the characters from previous books and ties them all in. It’s nice that they didn’t instantly just go to the background. I enjoyed reading the interactions between all the characters. There is so much tension and passion in this book it jumps off the page at you. It was a definite emotional rollercoaster but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe is a new adult romance novel. This book pulls you in and doesn’t let go even when the book is done. It is so emotional it puts you on an emotional rollercoaster.

Elena left Wolf Lake once to pave way for her future. She didn’t think she’d be back but here she is after her mother’s passing. She knows the way she left before maybe wasn’t the best way but it needed to be done. Now she is face to face with the past when the first person she sees is Weston. She never meant to break his heart but she did what she felt was necessary. Just as soon as she can get her moms house on the market she plans to make a break for it back to her life in Phoenix. Now the only problem is, Elena’s attraction to Weston hasn’t changed. Will she be able to leave Wolf Lake all over again or will their connection keep her around this time?

Elena is strong and driven but at the beginning of the book, I wasn’t her biggest fan. Once I kept reading, I saw more into Elena’s character and warmed up to her quicker than I thought I would. She was a little brash at first but there’s more to her than meets the eye. I truly enjoyed reading this book and meeting these characters.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Souls Collide by Kristina Beck is book three of the Collide Series. This is the first book I’ve read of the series but I didn’t feel I lost any of the story.

Alexa is so smart but most people over look that given her beauty. She is so friendly and bubbly, most people don’t look below the surface.

Kent won’t get close to anyone. Few people have gotten behind his wall and he plans to keep it that way. Alexa brings brightness to Kent’s world but be ignores it. Until her brightness fades a bit. Kent feels the need to fiercely protect Alexa.

The book has a sudden twist you don’t expect. I couldn’t wait to finish but also wanted to hold on tight to the book the whole way through. I didn’t want it to end. I am going to go back and read the first two books in the series and if they are half as good as this book then I’m truly looking forward to it!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Only Series 5 Book Box Set by Bree Kraemer includes all five books from The Only Series. I’ve read other books by this author and loved them so much so I was excited to read these books and it was even better that they were all in one box set! Each book tells the story of a different couple but characters reappear throughout the series. The books flowed so well from one to the next even though they are standalones. Each couple had a different story to their relationship and had their own trials. Samantha’s character really stood out to me because she had experienced so much but she didn’t let it get her down and she fought to get her life as close to normal as she could get it. All of the men were very swoon worthy! I don’t think I could pick a favorite if I tried. I am so glad I read these books!! Bree Kraemer doesn’t disappoint.

Venganza: The Fuentes LegacyVenganza: The Fuentes Legacy by Greta Cribbs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Venganza: The Fuentes Legacy by Greta Cribbs is a story that goes back before Primogenito and gives you more of an understanding of the characters and story. This book drew me in from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down.

The Fuentes family has secrets. They’ll do what they need to keep those secrets. Not all secrets are easily kept and Damian is proof of that. Due to certain events in his life, Damian feels that his father abandoned him. Whether that’s exactly what happened or not, it’s hard for those feelings not to show up in Damian’s daily life. Will the events Damian experiences interfere with his relationship or does Damian have a bond that can’t be broken with Jenn?

This book and these characters were written with such detail that it feels like you are right there with them. The book was definitely suspenseful and had some scenes that may be difficult for younger readers. This was such a good book to read!

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 (Boxed Set)Eastern Shore Swingers Books 1-3 by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fisher of Men
Fisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander is book one of the Eastern Shore Swingers Series. This book is an erotic romance and is suggested for readers 18+.

This book is Leah Miller and Captain “Cap” Chris Sheldons story. Leah was raised with strict Christian values and her family really expected her to follow their footsteps in the ministry. Leah wanted more though. She wanted to branch out from the Midwest so she ended up on the East Coast. After college she accepts a job at The Pearl and that’s where she meets Cap. She didn’t realize it at first but she meets Cap at a swingers party and though she has strong feelings for him, she’s having a hard time reconciling his lifestyle with her Christian values. Will Cap be able to set aside his lifestyle for a relationship with Leah or will Leah be able to look passed her faith at something new?

I enjoyed this book just as I have other books by this author. There was so much emotion and inner turmoil you could almost feel Leah’s struggle. The characters are so well written you can’t help but feel invested in them which really sucks you into the story. I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store!

The Catch
The Catch by Phoebe Alexander is book two of the Eastern Shore Swingers Series. This book can be read as a standalone. This book is really intended for readers 18+ due to subject content. I was pleasantly surprised to find out when I started reading that this book is pretty suspenseful. It definitely adds some layers to the book that really keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens.

As with book one, this book invites you to join the characters at a very specific type of club and the book really does a great job detailing the club and it’s activities so you feel like you’re right there. Paisley is very self-assured. She draws people in with that trait. She manages to draw Calvin in and it’s truly the last thing she wants. Relationships aren’t for her and she stands pretty firm on that. Will Paisley be able to rely on someone other than herself when he past comes back when she least expects it? Will Calvin be able to protect Paisley and convince her of their future?

Paisley doesn’t avoid relationships for no good reason. She tries to stand her ground as a way to protect Calvin just as Calvin is protective of her. I really enjoyed the depth the characters had and the chemistry between them. Paisley felt so real. She was flawed but she was aware of it and knew it was something she needed to work on for herself. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book.

Siren Call
Siren Call by Phoebe Alexander is book three of the Eastern Shore Swingers Series. This book can be read as a standalone. Similar to the first two, it’s intended for readers 18+. This is the first female/female book I’ve read but, it was written very well.

Jessie has always wanted to be a police officer. She’s good at what she does and she loves it. She first meets Sirena when asked to keep an eye on her. Jessie immediately feels protective of Sirena. Sirena is pretty quiet and doesn’t open up much to people. The attraction between the two is almost instantaneous but Jessie pushes to keep things professional as much as possible. Eventually, they may be able to put their pasts and differences aside and find friendship and love in one another.

These characters are deep and complex. One of the differences in the characters is their age and I was able to relate to that so I felt pulled into the characters. This book was very well written and I can’t wait to continue to series.

Shoot Me: A Lie to Me Novel by Lynda Filler is book two of the series. This book is a continuation of the first book so if you haven’t read that one, I recommend that you do before reading this book. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one.

Layla is a smart independent woman. Layla has lost Mateo and now she decides a change of scenery might just help. Through a series of twists and turns, Layla meets quite a few people but is she looking for love in the wrong places? Follow Layla to Guadalajara to find out.

I enjoyed this book as it kept me guessing with the twists and turns. I was not disappointed!

Isabella’s Painting: A Notorious Art Heist Mystery (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 1) by Ellen Butler – Review by Angelina Frazzini

Isabella's Painting (Karina Cardinal Mystery #1)Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Isabella’s Painting: A Notorious Art Heist Mystery by Ellen Butler is book one of the Karina Cardinal Mystery series. This book has it all; a little humor, a little romance, and some mystery. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I enjoyed it.

This book is based on a real life unsolved mystery. It prompted me to want to look more into it and I really enjoyed the authors take on the whole thing. Karina while quite self conscious is definitely resourceful and intelligent and her investigative skills get her in deep. Karina may not be fully prepared for the risks she’s taken but she can’t give up. The book was definitely suspenseful at times and I was at the edge of my seat.

The author did such a good job portraying this real life situation. I enjoyed the characters and the suspense and couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. I would be interested in reading the next book of this series.
