Author Jamie Schlosser
5 Stars

Christmas has not always been good for Angel. However this Christmas is the best one she has ever had, she is surrounded by people who she loves and by those who also love her. Her Christmas present from Travis is sitting on her finger a beautiful engagement along with a marriage proposal which of course she accepted. She can’t stop looking at her beautiful ring and is amazed how it sparkles under the lights of the Christmas tree. Travis was nervous when he was preparing to ask her to marry him; he worried that she may say no. They were going to his moms for Christmas lunch and when they arrived she nearly knocked Travis off his feet in trying to get to Angel. Travis was also surprised his mom managed to keep the engagement ring a secret, since she knew what he was planning. The love between his mom and Angel stood out for all to see. Angel spent some of Christmas morning looking through wedding sites with Travis’ mom; they were both as excited as each other looking what could be bought for the wedding. Travis is in awe of how close the two women he loved the most are. Angel squeals with delight when she find a dress that she really like, Travis goes to look but his mom turned her computer away from him so he couldn’t see. When asked when the wedding was to be Angel said she would like a summer wedding, Travis told her he would marry her tomorrow if he could, his mom told him that wouldn’t happen as a wedding takes months to plan. Smiling he leaves the loves of his life finish up with their wedding searches.

Capturing Us (Cedarville #2) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Stacey Baxter

Capturing Us (Cedarville #2)Capturing Us by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Melanie has loved Logan for a long time but never told him if anything lately she’s been extra cranky towards him to try and push him away. Every time she see him her body can’t help but react to him she wants him bad but shes just not sure how to approach him, Melanie is normally in control of things and straight to the point but with Logan she not as confident at first. When Logan gets a offer to work away again on assignment with his photography that give Melanie the push she needs to tell him how she really feels but things don’t go to plan. Ever since Mel was attacked Logan realised there was more to them friendship it shocked the hell out of him to think all this time they could have been more but deep down he knows he wouldn’t of been ready especially considering he would have been away a lot with work so then wouldn’t of been the right time. Logan has been thinking recently that he no longer wants to travel but when what he originally has planned goes through he decide to do one more assignment away but hes in a complete shock when he finds out just before he’s leaving that Mel has had feelings for him for all this time not sure what to do with all this new information he still goes hoping that Mel won’t hate him to much when he gets back. Will Melanie forgive Logan? Will they get together? Do they get there happy ever after…….
I loved Melanie’s and logans story it was amazing the connection they have between them was beautiful and seeing feelings come light was wonderful to read plus the characters themselves have awesome personalities I felt I could really connect with them. The story had you right from the beginning had such a lovely flow to it. I have loved the Cedarville series so far you can read them as standalone but they ate better to read as a series so you don’t miss out on history with the characters amazing.

Capturing Us (A Cedarville Novel) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Anna Hirsch

Capturing Us (Cedarville #2)Capturing Us by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Capturing Us by Bree Kraemer
4 Stars

This is book two in the Cedarville series. You don’t have to read book one but I would suggest it. You’ll have the back story to this book and book one was excellent. Capturing Us focuses on the relationship between Melanie and Logan. Melanie has been in love with Logan for as long as she can remember. With Logan’s job taking him away from Cedarville for weeks and months at a time, Melanie would suppress her feelings and live her life. She’s had her experiences and went on dates. Now Logan has returned to Cedarville for good and Melanie doesn’t know how to cope with her feelings. They are coming to the surface and she doesn’t know how to hide them anymore.

Ever since Logan found Melanie on the floor after the break in in her house, he realized his feelings are more than just friendship. He doesn’t know what he would have done if she had been seriously hurt. He wouldn’t be able to live without her. He can’t go a day without seeing her. Yet since the break in, Melanie has been acting like she hates him. Logan’s so confused. They finally admit their feelings to each other and embark on a romantic relationship. As in any new relationship, there are trust issues and communication problems. Even though they have been friends forever, these are new issues because they are starting a life together.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are wonderful and the dynamics between them is comforting. They are a close knit group who are there for each other whether they need help or they are making fun of one another. They are funny. This is another book that thrilled me from this author. I’m looking forward to reading more from her.

Fight For Life Perception Book 3 – Review By Heidi Eich Woodring

Fight of Life (Perception, #3)Fight of Life by Shandi Boyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fight for life by Shandi Boyes is the third book in the Perception Series and unlike the other two can be read as a standalone. While I loved Noah and Emily from book 1 and 2, I have to say that this book was by far my favorite so far. Not just the characters but by the amazing way the author has written another 5 star book.

Jacob Walters, He is loveable with a huge heart. One look into his blue eyes, and he will steal your heart.
Lola, you love her or hate her. She is stubborn and set in her ways.

Get these two together and you have an amazing love story. Lola feels a connection with Jacob right away but she had been so hurt in the past that she guards her heart and her emotions. Jacob is drawn to her also, and wants to spend more time with her. They decide to remain friends which leads to years of off and on again between the both of them. All that Jacob wants to do is break down her walls and All’s Lola fears is what happens when he does break down these walls.

Shandi Boyes has done it yet again and has given us a book boyfriend you want all to yourself. While yes, this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first two books in the series, as you will be able to read how Noah and Emily see Jacob and you will fall even more in love with him. I loved that Lola was stubborn and guarded but she was not weak like many other leading ladies are. She drew me into the book just as much as Jacob did. This whole series just gets better and better. I love the style in which the author gives us and the strong leading characters and also the supporting characters. I give this book 5 stars and recommend this WHOLE series. I honestly can say this has been one of my favorite series this year and I cannot wait to read more in this series and more from this author.

The Reality of Life (Perception Book 2) – Review By Heidi Eich Woodring

Reality of Life (Perception, #2)Reality of Life by Shandi Boyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The reality of Life by Shandi Boyes, is yet another wonderfully written book that I loved diving into. This is the second book in the series, the first book gutted me and this one I was nervous. I worried about not being able to love this book and what Noah had to go through with his latest tragic event. Well let me tell you Shandi Boyes did it again. A book full of shocking surprises that will keep you wanting more and more. It’s going to be hard to right this review without giving so much away, this is a book you need to read for yourself following book one.

After deciding to go against the record label, Emily and Noah decide to stay together and build a life together. Then tragedy strikes. Noah is sent into a tail spin and everyone around him is very worried about him. His bandmates surround him with love and watch him constantly to make sure he is okay. While reading this book, you will experience such a roller coaster of emotions. When you think things are going to end great, it doesn’t, when you think things are going to end badly, the good shines through. Basically this is a book so worth reading, I was able to read this in two sittings.

Again, Shandi Boyes really outdid herself. She broke my heart into a thousand pieces and was able to put it back together again. For me that is the PERFECT BOOK. Enough love to keep me wanting more, sadness that turns into happiness, and drama to keep me coming back for more. Shandi Boyes truly is a very talented author that I highly recommend to everyone. I give this book 5 stars. The characters draw you in and the writing style of the author will truly drag you in and wanting more. If you love rocker romance, with a side of tragedy and drama this is so the book series for you, though you need to read book one before diving into book 2. Well done Shandi Boyes and I cannot wait to see what more you have for us!

An Exaltation of Larks (Vereny #1) by Suanne Laqueur – Review by Gail Guerrero

An Exaltation of Larks (Venery, #1)An Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a confusingly beautiful story. The beginning was my favorite. How the Author wrote these characters into life. The characters where given more than just another story. They were given true life. No life is perfect we have ups and downs. We just learn to navigate it better. I wasn’t a fan of how everything went down. But it was beautiful in it’s tragedy. Alex and Val have been destined for each other from the first time they didn’t let language be a problem. I loved reading their story and how they found each other after years of pushed aside affection. You add in Jav and things get really hot. I wasn’t expecting the ending but I am glad it ended the way it did. I would’ve had a hard time accepting their relationship when Jav didn’t want Val too just Alex. I see them as a packaged deal and Jav and Alex broke it. Val was amazing like I couldn’t cope with the thought of someone else loving my man. But she was so understanding and brave to try and make everyone happy. I think if they crossed that line anymore relationships would’ve been lost. Not saying it wouldn’t work just that someone would’ve been hurt and it would be Val. Love is a powerful and painful thing.

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville, #1) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Moriah Venable

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville #1)An Unexpected Home by Bree Kraemer

An Unexpected Home is the first novel in the Cedarville series by Bree Kraemer. This is my first novel by this author.

Leah Gibson, 28 year old accountant, moves to Cedarville, Ohio to help her friends Carly and Mel run their dance studio. After a little hesitation, Leah decides to start life anew to get away from the press and media after the betrayal of her father and uncle.

‘Home, she realized, was not just a place you slept or kept your things. It was more than that. It was a place that you felt comfortable and wanted. Even loved.’

When she arrives she meets Brandon who is not only Carly’s 33 year old cousin but also the local acting police chief after the former police chief had a heart attack and he was next in line. There is an instant attraction between the two but of course the two try to deny it.

The night Leah comes to town there is a break in and Brandon tries not to sound accusing when someone says they saw Leah’s car pass by during the time of the break in. Leah feels like she is being questioned because of her past, but answers the questions anyway.

The next day she goes to see him but leaves when she starts having a panic attack and leaves. She comes back to apologize and explains that she wants to sleep with him but Brandon refuses because he likes her and wants more than just that.

When an expected visitor comes into town, will they ruin the growing relationship?

While initially hesitant, I really enjoyed this story. The novel is told from alternative third person perspectives of Leah and Brandon.

Brandon is one of those types of guys who dates but wants nothing serious and the women he sees know that. But the moment he lays eyes on Leah, he likes her and wants more. He doesn’t like being called ‘boss’ or ‘sir’ but it protective of those he cares about.

“I will say this . I have women that I can go to when I want sex and they know that it is just sex. But I don’t sleep around.”“Why can’t I be one of those women?” He heard the words and he knew what she was asking but for some reason it made him angry. “You just can’t,” he said and turned putting his back to her so he could go sit back down.”

I love stories where people are starting over and making a new life for themselves.

Of course the path getting there, isn’t easy. But it’s great and makes me hopeful, when reading.

Leah and Brandon I felt had amazing chemistry, making the novel more fun to read.

With great romance, suspense and characters one can relate to, it’s a novel you don’t wanna put down.

I can’t wait for the next novel.

Taken (Five Fates, #2) By Amy McKinley – Review by Heidi Eich Woodring

Taken (Five Fates #2)Taken by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taken is the second book in the Five fates series by Amy McKinley. I have to say while I love the first book, Hidden, I loved this book even more. This book follows Layla and Thaull. I truly love how Amy McKinley has once again created a world full of mythology, paranormal, and a touch of romance. She again was able to pull me right in and follow two broken yet strong characters. While lost in the amazing world that Amy created, I love how this book is about trust, trust not just in yourself but trust in those that are around you.

Layla, who is cursed by the Fates, make a promise to herself. She promises that she will never be at someone else’s mercy. When certain things are sent in motion, things change. People want her dead due to the skills she has, she also finds out many are using her for those skills that could wind up killing her one day. Her skills just won’t just hurt her but could hurt the family she loves so much. Layla needs to trust someone, in order to save herself and her family. Thaull, who is dealing with soul divide and clan turmoil hangs in the balance. To avoid his soul ripping in half, he knows that he must find love, the love of a female freely given, can save him and his soul. What happens when she can be dark from her curse and he can go numb for his?
Amy give us another story that is always busy and action packed. I truly love how with all the fantasy, paranormal, and mythology you find two amazing characters who need and want love no matter what they want to say. I love how these two characters mesh so well together and how easily it is for me to picture this amazing world that they live in. I give this book five stars and I so am ready to dig into the rest of the series. I admit, this book has really changed my view on this genre, Thank you Amy McKinley.

Hidden (Five Fates, Bk 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Heidi Eich Woodring

Hidden (Five Fates, #1)Hidden by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden the first book in the Five Fates series by Amy McKinley. The series is about five sisters that are cursed by the fates and hidden on earth. Hidden follows Jade and Roen, a demon who is a fierce warrior. This book has paranormal, mythology, and a great romance. I love Amy’s writing style especially her attention to detail and when romance links with danger, it’s a shoe in for me. This is the first book I have read by the author and I have to say that I was not disappointed. If you love mythology then I must say that this is the book for you. I am hoping all five sisters get a book. I truly loved that Jade was made into such a strong character and not weak like many are.

Jade, who is half demon and half goddess, have been hidden and trying to stay that way with Oneiroi. She finds a mural and knows that she has found true love and needs to find him before Oneiroi. Roen, a demon, a part a clan hidden for years, feels is mate in his dream. When they finally see each other, Jade is taken by Roens uncle and he knows he must protect her at all costs. Not only do Roen and Jade find true love but they are also together to fight and overcome so much evil. Will Rone and Jade find love they both crave? Will they give into the connection they both feel? So many questions will arise as you read this and as you get the answers you will fall in love with this story.

I love how Amy, take Greek Mythology and adds her own spin on it. She had me engrossed in this story from the first page, which is I loved. This is not my normal genre but I love how the book had love, action, and that kept me engrossed on an amazing story line. I give this book 4 stars and I cannot wait to read about Jades sisters and their journey. I love how Amy created a supernatural world that will just suck you in.

Perception of Life Book One by Shandi Boyes – Review By Heidi Eich Woodring

Perception of Life (Perception, #1)Perception of Life by Shandi Boyes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Preception of Life by Shandi Boyes was just WOW! This book ended with such a cliffhanger and I so wanted to scream. I totally loved this book and I cannot wait till book two comes out so I can see how this all unfolds. Shandi Boyes truly gave us an amazing book! So many emotions were hit for me as I read this book. You totally will become engrossed with the story of the two lead characters, It’s just hard not to fall for them both.
Noah Taylor is on the rise to be the next big star with his band, Rise Up. After a horrible family events things just are not the same. Nothing can repair the damage that has been done. The last thing that he needs is a serious relationship. Then enters Emily. Emily is so unique and the bond and love that make them THEM is just truly amazing. Things are not perfect for the both of them, but they have such a chemistry. While he loves Emily, but they want the band to appear single! He is torn for the love of his band and the girl he wants and needs in his life.

I truly enjoyed this book and Shandi Boyes writing. I was hooked and know that I want to read the second book, I have to know how this ends. The story of Emily and Noah simply is just amazing. There is so much more I could say about this story but I am trying so hard not to spoil a very good book for those that want to dive in. I give this book 4 stars and would recommend it to anyone who love rock star romance books with a lot of drama. I was able to read this book in one setting because the characters and story line were able to draw me in. I will leave with one last statement that I feel sums this book up perfectly…. One look changed him, One voice open his heart, and one look in her eyes shows Noah, Emily will become the best thing that ever happen, His life changed the moment he walked down that hallway……

Awesome book. Absolutely loved the story line.
Angels mother left her when she was seven, her father died when she was twelve and now at seventeen. The aunt who had raised her has died. Angel is now all alone and since she is under eighteen she has to go to a foster home. Two weeks before her eighteenth birthday she had had enough of being in the foster home and left. She decided she was going to California to meet her mother and hopefully the two could have a relationship. The first night of her travels was a twelve hour bus ride. Luckily she had slept most of that twelve hours. The second night she decided she would sleep in a cheap motel. Angel too another bus to Ohio and decided to hitchhike the test of the way to save her money. She stopped at a truck stop and got a drink and something to eat, she also badly needed to wash her hair. Doing this in the truck stop toilet she nearly slipped in the water she got every where. Deciding it was time to move she started to walk and thought the shoes she had on were no good for long walks. Travis in the meantime had left the truck stop and saw the girl he had seen at the truck stop hitchhiking. There was no way he was going to let her hitchhike so he pulled his truck over and told her to get in. Angel felt safe with Travis and thought he was the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. She asked Travis where he was going, he told her Tolson was the last stop. By the time they got to Tolsen je knew she was going to California to see her mother. He told her he was going that way in three weeks and would give her a lift. He also said she could stay at his place to save her money. Both were quite attracted to each other and in three weeks went from strangers to being in love. Neither of them told the other how they felt. The time had come for her to go to California. It was a hard trip for both Travis and Angel. The day after she arrived she went to see her mother. Her mother told her don’t change your life because i wouldn’t do it for you. In the mean time Travis had turned his truck around as he needed to tell Angel he loved her. When he got back to her hotel she waited till got back from the prison and noticed she was tearing up the post card. He went and say by her, she didn’t notice he was there until he said hi baby. She asked why was he here and he told her I had to tell you I love you and please come home.

Room 208 By Michelle Sullivan – Review By Heidi Eich Woodring

Room 208Room 208 by Michelle Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Room 208 by Michelle Sullivan is unlike any other book I have ever read before and I have to say that I loved it from beginning to end. Michelle Sullivan writes a wonderful romance and not the typical romance that I am used to reading. I loved the plot, story line, and the outcome truly moved me and I think could move anyone that is married and currently in a rough spot. I see this book as an amazing romance but also a book that couples also learn a lot from, I know that I have!

Sam and Ollie are married, both work, and have twins. Lately all they seem to be doing is fighting and they both are unhappy but don’t seem to make the time to sit down and talk. Finally they are able to get away to a hotel, room 208, this room begins to be an escape for them both. This is a place they can talk and get back the love they both have and it is also the place where they can explore each other ways they never have. When things are starting to go right, Ollie starts a new project with a young rich girl. Ollie feels that they are friends but Sam thinks different. Sam tried to give this girl the benefit of the doubt but as time goes by, she sees her for what she really is. Follow Sam and Ollie on the road to saving themselves, save the family they love, and a marriage that means so much to them.

I loved this book with such a passion and really makes me see what can happen when you take time from a busy life to fix your marriage or relationship. I loved this book being about an already committed couple and how they both want to fix this and how they together are able to fight outside influences. I think anyone who loves romance or even a married couple could read this together. I happily give this book 5 stars and I know it will be a book that reread many times. Well Done Michelle Sullivan!!!

Room 208 by Michelle Sullivan – Review by Shannon Fowler

Room 208Room 208 by Michelle Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Here’s a great story about love, marriage and communication!
Being married for ten years, Sam and Ollie have found themselves in a slump. Life takes a toll, jobs, kids and those questionable friends. Sometimes you forget how special that certain someone really is. The clichés like “you don’t know how good something is until it’s gone” is so true in this story. Sometimes you really don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Marriage means love which means trying and working together. And even though marriage can be tough work there is also love, happiness and rewards. A marriage takes both the husband and wife to work together and communicate.
Michelle Sullivan is able to draw you into her story. You will feel the same pain as Sam and Ollie when things begin to go down hill.

“I feel like every bone in my body is being crushed. I have never felt this kind of pain in my life and I just don’t know how I am ever going to feel good again.”

And you also get to feel the amazing love they share because some things really are worth fighting for.

“…..we hit some mountains, but at the end of the day, our love for each other outweighs any stuff that anyone can throw at us and learning that now will only make us stronger and stronger in the years to come.”

Sometimes when reading a really good book you experience many emotions and have conflicting thoughts. My main thought while reading Room 208 is that men are so dumb and then women are so dumb. Of course if I had been in Sam and Ollie’s situation my reactions may have gotten me arrested! I really love the way these two were able to come together to start solving their problems. However as in real life, not everything in this book is all unicorns and rainbows! Please read this book!

Playing for Love (Playing Series, Book 2) by Ashlie Knapp – Review by Shannon Fowler

Playing for Love (Playing Series, Book 2)Playing for Love by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ashlie Knapp has done it again! She has written another heart melting, tear wiping, feel good, love story. This story is about Cassie and Jamal, who are friends of Callie and Kyle from book 1.
Cassie has a little bit of an ugly past, although no fault of her own, making her not trust any man. So instead of dating and socializing in any way, she turns to education and books. A girl after my own heart.
Jamal is a basketball star, single father of JJ and best friend of Kyle Kelly. Which means this story will be better understood if read after Playing to Win. This one starts right where book 1 left off. Many returning characters along with some new ones and an evil force help to give this story its 5 well deserved stars.
I loved that Cassie doesn’t have an athletic bone in her body and she accepts it and is ok with it.
“Har, har, har, you two. I can’t help it that I wasn’t born with an athletic gene in my body.”
I know some people like this and it made me laugh a lot. Even though Jamal is a star basketball player, the two find themselves together, a lot.
There are many times this story had me snickering to myself, laughing out loud and even tearing up. JJ and Jamal’s Whip and Nae Nae dance off is just one example of the laugh out loud scenes.
Ashlie Knapp has a writing style that is easy to read and follow. She includes fun, heart felt characters. And while this story is dreamy and romantic, Knapp keeps it realistic as well.
This is just a great story all around. I highly recommend this story, but don’t stop there. I highly recommend the series and author as well.

Playing to Win (Playing Series, Book 1) by Ashlie Knapp – Review by Shannon Fowler

Playing to Win (Playing Series, book 1)Playing to Win by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Such a cute cute fun story! Quick and easy to read, too! Ashlie Knapp is a new to me author and I am pleasantly surprised and happy to have taken a chance on her! This story is a stand alone and has a very……..ending. Ha! No spoilers in this review! If you are looking for wild and crazy, out of control alphas, then this is not the story for you. However, if you are looking for a hometown, boy next door, heart melting story, you will be delighted with Playing to Win!
This is a story about basketball star Kyle Kelly and cheerleader and future hopeful, sports broadcaster, Callie Thompson. Callie has sworn off all types of athletes thanks to one ex high school sweetheart. But when she literally runs into Kyle, there’s something about him she can’t resist. Especially when she loses a game of horse with him. How will they overcome Callie’s belief that all jocks are the same? Is Kyle too good to be true?
I loved the references to things I already love, like Taco Bell, basketball and O.M.G. Garth Brooks!
“And I named him Garth because Garth Brooks is the best musician in the history of music .”

These two characters had me laughing and hoping for the best to happen to them. I couldn’t help but to love them both! While there are no hot love scenes for delicate eyes to be offended by, there were moments of swooning. #sigh #sweetlove

“And he was right. Their lips did want to get to know each other. And if it were up to her, they were on their way to becoming best friends.”

The secondary characters, or best friends in this story, as well as their families, added to the fun and are also looking for happiness and love. Lets hope Ashlie Knapp is helping them find it!

Truthsight by Miriam Greystone

Miriam Greystone weaves an enchanting tale of ancient supernatural creatures. The characters and their stories are so real it’s as if you are there beside them. I was intrigued from the moment I started the book and remained enthralled until the very end. I couldn’t put the book down, needing to know what would happen next. I loved the fact that she used mythical creatures such as centaurs, pixies and gnomes instead of the usual vampires and werewolves. She even introduced a creature from Slavic folklore which really impressed me. Her research on all the creatures was spot on which added depth to not only the characters but the story as well. I loved the book.

Amy is a doctor who turned her barn into a night clinic for all the creatures that live in the forest. Her patients includes pixies, gnomes, trolls, harpies and even centaurs. Amy is a Mage and healer. She has the power of truthsight which allows her to see the real you. The part which you hide away from the world, your true self. She has been on the run for years with mages hunting her. When she taps into her power to save the foal of a centaur, she knows they will find her.

After being captured, waiting to be executed, a creature rescues her. Hearing about her abilities to heal, he knows she’s his only hope of saving his father. Things don’t go according to plan and both their lives end up in danger. All creatures must stand together to fight a common enemy and save not only Amy but themselves as well.

A Leap into Destiny By Michelle Sullivan – Review By Heidi Eich Woodring

A Leap into DestinyA Leap into Destiny by Michelle Sullivan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Leap into Destiny by Michelle Sullivan is a wonderful read full of love, unhappiness, and so many twist and turns. Michelle Sullivan writes a story so true, you feel it’s real and draws you in instantly showing that even single parents need love and a happy ending. This book has the romance, has the drama, and has you sitting on the edge of your seat. It’s a perfect combination for any readers, I know I am suggested this read to many of my friends who loved it as much as I did.

Isabella and Mikie meet at the park and instantly hit it off, both are also being raised by single parents. Alli, who is the mother of Isabella was left alone in a hospital to give birth when Seth, her ex, left her. She has many issues with men because of this and her support system is her mother. Jason, who is the father to Mikie, is grieving for his wife that passed and has had issues bonding with his own son. After time, the friendship they have changes into something more serious. Jason knows he is attracted to Alli but he has guilt about “cheating” on his wife. But even Jason cannot deny the pull to Alli. When the past comes back into Alli’s life, she worries about her safety and Isabella’s. Jason fears that he could lose yet another women he loves with all his heart.

What I truly loved about this story, is the believable factor. It was like I was reading a true story and enjoyed every minute of. There was enough angst and twists and turns that will leave you at the edge of your seat. I love how slowly the sparks became so much that they both just gave in. I love what a mother Alli is and I just adore how Jason treats Alli. They both are on the road to a happy ending all FOUR of them deserve and so need. I happily give this book 4 stars and would recommend this to book to everyone. Once you dig in you will not want to stop.

Sophia Woodville is an ordinary girl who never liked being the centre of attention. She never had a normal childhood. She lived with her Nan and was homeschooled until junior high. She has a birthmark that covers half her face which she covers up whenever she goes out. She has an innate ability to heal so it was a natural choice for her to become a nurse.

Unfortunately for Sophia, she is far from ordinary. Circumstances happen and she finds herself fighting for her life. Thrust into an ancient world, in the middle of a battle between angels and demons, she must find her strength and self confidence. So far out of her comfort zone, she learns about the origins of humanity and original sin, about the fall of angels and the beginning of demons. She discovers that she is the key to the saviour of all mankind. No pressure there! Nothing is as it seems. She finds new friends and finds out who she can and cannot trust. Will an angel make her fall from grace? Will a demon save her soul?

This book was very intriguing for me. It mixed the belief of heaven and hell, Angels and Demons and the concept of aliens creating the earth. It sounds bizarre but it actually worked. There were many heavy ideas to digest but the author did an excellent job of explaining every detail so it was simple to comprehend. There was a lot of intrigue and some serious action which will keep you wanting to find out what happens next. The book ends in a cliffhanger so now I wait in anticipation for the next book.

The Catch by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Shannon Fowler

The CatchThe Catch by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finally!! A story about a big girl! A happy, confident big girl! Paisley is a serious, hardworking, sexy, big girl. She really doesn’t take crap from anyone and doesn’t care what people think. If only there were more people like Paisley in the real world! Paisley would make a great BFF, she could probably even convince “vanilla” people to try other “flavors”!
And then there’s Calvin…swoon…Calvin is patient, kind, dedicated. Did I say patient? Even his “caramel-colored skin” makes Phoebe’s “girly bits” excited, he looks like one of those hunks on www.tubev.sex. His “vanilla” way of life is not the usual turn off for Paisley, so when these two become friends anything is possible!
Other characters that enter Paisley’s life through out this story are Cap, Leah and Casey, all three are Paisley’s bosses at The Club. Trent, Jason and Alison also bring out the Paisley everyone knows. While walls are built around Paisley’s heart, she loves others unconditionally. Will there be someone who can break through? Can they accept Paisley for her past and her present?
Phoebe Alexander writes a fun, adventurous romantic mystery with a twist. This story takes a few taboo subjects, (sex, therapy and weight issues) and makes them a little less taboo. Looking forward to what else I can read from Phoebe Alexander.

Rush (The Boys of RDA #1) by Megan Matthews – Review by Ashleigh Whitwell

Rush (The Boys of RDA, #1)Rush by Megan Matthews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rush is the first in the ‘Boys of RDA’ series by Megan Matthews. Written in first person, we see the story from Aspen’s POV, which I felt really enabled me to connect with her character. This was my first read of this author’s work and I absolutely loved it!

After completing grad school, Aspen is starting a new chapter of her life in San Francisco. She has a new job, new apartment and a solid life-plan; she thinks she has everything under control. A control is exactly what comes with the lease on her new home, along with a list of ridiculous rules she has to follow. Alongside this, her best friend requires support through a nasty break-up, all while sticking to her plan of having no new relationships for the first year in this new city. Everything seems do-able, apart from the last past. Why can’t she seem to control her feelings every time her new neighbour is around? Hot, smart and always around when she needs someone, Finn is like her own personal hero. With a geeky-yet-hot-as-hell style, this video-gamer is not included in Aspen’s life-plan. But while he seems to get more perfect by the day, can Aspen trust he is who he says he is? Or is Finn playing her, just like he plays one of his games?

I’ll go right ahead and say it: I LOVED THIS BOOK. I only stopped reading this book for sleep, and that was because I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. I really could not get enough of Aspen, Finn and their relationship. Aspen is one of my favourite I have read this year. She is a strong, independent female lead and I just adore reading these characters. She also had a really interesting backstory and her relationship with her brother, Ben, was one of the highlights of the story for me. Her relationship with her friends was also something that stood out, as so often with romance novels the girl is so in love with her hero, she forgets all about her friends! Yes, I know this happens in real life too, but I just hate to think of people doing this! Aspen was not one of these people, and that only added to her likeability. She felt real, believable and someone I desperately want to be friends with (if we ignore that fact that she doesn’t actually exist).

And I think her character was balanced perfectly with Finn’s. My favourite thing about him? He is not your stereotypical hot-guy hero. He is a video-game playing, computer obsessed geek; and I love this (I realise I love a lot things about Rush). He is totally not what you expect from a romance-story, and this makes the book so unique. While it makes me sad that this is so unusual (I want more geeky heroes!), it’s also what makes Rush so special and enjoyable to read.

Along with these fantastic and well-written characters (supporting ones like Ben, Marissa and Trey included), the story has a brilliant plot; there are some shocking revelations, so be prepared! I also want to do a special shout-out to Jake the driver, as I think he is a majorly underestimated character; I want more Jake! Overall, I really cannot recommend Rush enough. I will definitely be reading the rest of the Boys of RDA series, and urge others to read them too. Thanks to the author for such a fun read!

Incapable by Marie Skye
I seriously don’t even know where to begin about this book… It’s simply amazing! I give it 5 stars and in all honesty, I would give it more if I could !! I got sucked in immediately! It’s extremely well written and thought out! I absolutely loved it! I can’t wait to find out what happens in the second book! Marie Skye is one of my new favorite authors!! Love her!!
Emmalin is a sweet, innocent and thriving woman. She is used to taking care of herself. She depends and trusts no one these day.
Grayson is an extremely rich, controlling and demanding man. He goes after what he wants…and more often than not, he gets it!!
Grayson is instantly attracted to Emmaline. He hasn’t felt this way about anyone in years. But it also frightens him a great deal.
She has a past, like everywhere else. But she tries to let Grayson in her life. But she is scared just as much as he is.
Can they both get past their fears and demons and move on… Together? Or will their past get the best of them?
I absolutely loved these characters.. They’re so raw and seem so darn real! Marie Skye has a real way with words!!! I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Legend says that when Lucifer fell to earth, he married Gweneviere and she bore him three children. Lucifer and Gweneviere descended to hell where they resided as king and queen. When their children died, they returned to earth where their children were reborn time and again. Their children continued to procreate and the demon population rose.
Nathan’s father is the eldest son of Lucifer therefore making his family the most powerful. Nathan is the middle child and feels like he’s the odd man out. It seems nothing he does is good enough for his family. If he acts like a mortal to fit in, he gets severely beaten by his mother. When he acts like a demon, he gets tortured by his father. He can’t figure out what they want.
Nathan begins dreaming of a girl with long brown locks and mesmerizing hazel eyes. She is his calm within the storm of his life. Her face eases the pain after a good whipping. She’s there every time he closes his eyes. He knows all the contours of her face by heart. Isn’t he surprised when she shows up at his house as his sacrifice. Will he be able to kill her or has she already captured his heart?
This short novella is the prequel to Luminosity and Ignition. I highly recommend reading this first to fully understand the other two.

In this installment of the Escaping Demons Saga, the story of Jasmine and Nathan continues. Nathan constantly tells her that he loves her yet pushes her away to run back to Lisa. He finally leaves for university, deserting Jasmine to fend for herself. Those weeks that he’s gone are the hardest for her. She’s completely alone, struggling to stay alive. The beatings continue and she has a few close calls with death. It was foreseen that a demon would fall in love with a mortal and their love would end all demons.
Jasmine’s power grows exponentially scaring even herself. Nathan returns and they both escape to live on the run. They make some new friends and more enemies as the demons chase them. Their love is constantly put to the test. Can their love survive even when trust is broken? How long can they stay alive when the demons are closing in on every side?
Throughout this book they are on the run. Jasmine realizes how powerful she really is and battles to keep herself, Nathan and their new friends alive. The book ends in a cliffhanger which I wasn’t happy about therefore nothing is resolved by the end. Now I need to wait for the next installment.

Playing Fate (Endgame Series, #1) by Leigh Ann Lunsford – Review by Moriah Venable

Playing Fate (Endgame Series #1)Playing Fate by Leigh Ann Lunsford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Playing Fate is the first book in the Endgame series by author Leigh Ann Lunsford. This is my first book by this author.

The novel is told between the POVs of Saylor Lewis, a 19 year old in her first year of college. She is from a small town and with the passing her father years before, believes that her father stopped loving her causing her to have trust issues. Her only goal is to study to retain her scholarship. She wants to be more social but still finds comfort in her own room. She moves into a house with two other girls, Emmberlee and Avery. The other point of view is Deacon who lives next door with the boys Caden and Mason. They have all grown up together. The boys play baseball but because of circumstances their original plan changes.

“As long as I could remember, we were all going to the Major Leagues. Our junior year we were scouted, and we all hand a future laid out in front of us. Cue Adriane…she blew my world apart, changed my plans, and Mason and Caden weren’t ready to give up the dream. They took it in stride when we couldn’t go to the majors. They followed me to college, and we are still learning to navigate this world. Caden has accepted it, but he doesn’t let it much bother him. He just ducks and rolls…block anything that will leave a lasting impression in his life.”

Saylor initially feels like an outsider but soon becomes part of the group. She feels an attraction to Deacon but because she hears about “Julie” all the time she believes that she is his girlfriend and doesn’t understand why he’d be pursuing her when he is with someone.

“Since I left my life, in New Mexico, I haven’t forged relationships. I was a loner by nature, even though I longed to fit in. I’m a regular oxymoron.” Saylor wants what any teenager wants: To feel like you belong somewhere. To find people who care about you.

She soons finds out that Julie is not his girlfriend but in fact his 4 month old daughter. The mother left and gave him all rights. Which makes her start to feel different towards him but still have her defenses up.

Deacon knows that Saylor is guarded because of her childhood, her father left, and is willing to wait for her to let down her defenses. She is obviously attracted to him but isn’t sure about starting a relationship with him because of her trust issues.

With the arrival of Deacon’s ex, thinking that he will get back with her, causesher to end things. With both of them miserable, the others excluding Emmberlee, who is the cause of bringing Adriane back, devise a plan to reunite Deacon and Saylor.

I really enjoyed this book. I related to Saylor because of her trust issues and her desire to want a new start by going away to college. I just wish she was not so back and forth. But I understood that too. I really didn’t like Emmberlee. I liked her at first but then her personality changed. I was hoping she would redeem herself.

I loved the scene when Saylor learns the truth about her father. Such an amazing scene. I really did love Saylor and Deacon’s relationship. And I fell so in love with Julie. Such a cute baby.

I am interested in reading Emmberlee’s story. Maybe we will learn more about her.

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville #1) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Ashleigh Whitwell

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville #1)An Unexpected Home by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An Unexpected Home is the first book in the Cedarville series by Bree Kraemer. Written in third person, each chapter alternates between the story’s main characters, Leah and Brandon, giving the reader a well-developed and in-depth novel.

The story follows Leah as she moves in with her best friends, Carly and Melanie, to start her new life in Cedarville. Leaving behind her traumatic past is what Leah hopes to do, after her father and uncle’s lies destroyed her life in New York.; trying to convince people that she didn’t know they were stealing their client’s money is proving to be impossible. What Leah didn’t expect to find in Cedarville was Brandon, especially not half-naked and answering the door of her new home. Unable to deny her attraction toward him, Leah makes a bold move, only to be shot down. Realising what a mistake he had made, Brandon seeks out Leah and quickly the two form an intense bond. But their relationship is threatened by someone from Leah’s past; someone who is set on getting revenge. And the timing couldn’t be worse. Leah, Carly and Melanie are getting ready for the opening of their dance school, while her friends are having their own battles with boys. Cedarville felt like Leah’s perfect home, but are Brandon and her friends enough to keep her safe from her past?

Leah and Brandon have so much chemistry, which is evident from their first meeting. Although their relationship is intense and moves really fast, they are so perfect together and I loved that they got together so soon. This allows us to see more of their relationship, how it develops over the course of the story and how strong their bond is when they are faced with difficult situations. The friendship between Leah, Carly and Melanie is one all girls dream of, and reading their interactions was so much fun. Leah has to rely on them for support during her dramatic ordeal, but they are struggling with their own problems in their personal and professional life.

This book covers a variety of different issues, but all are executed really well. From the serious ones, to the more fun, Bree Kraemer has created a really coherent and enjoyable story. I loved the time that was spent on creating such wonderful relationships between the characters, and any reader would struggle not to find themselves completely involved in their lives. Knowing there will be more in this series stops me from being upset that this one is over! This was my first read of Bree Kraemer’s work, but it definitely won’t be my last.

Perspective (Exposure #4) by Annie Jocoby – Review by Colleen Noyes

Perspective (Exposure, #4)Perspective by Annie Jocoby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Perspective by Annie Jocoby is the 4th and final book in the Exposure series and the excitement continues! Now that CJ and Asher have taken the next step, they still have to deal with the fallout they will endure from bringing Natalia to the United States.

Asher has made the decision that in order to save his life and that of his families he must come clean about his past, he’s hoping that with big risks comes big rewards. They are also trying to accomplish a specific goal to avoid Asher’s father finding out they duped him because that could mean the end of their lives.

CJ isn’t sure how to tell her mom, sister, and Scarlett that she is married to Asher without giving away too much, but gives it her best try and of course now her own father is in the picture. Things just keep piling up and you have to wonder how much more they can take before it all breaks apart.

Just when they think they may be safe and out of the woods, things take another turn and CJ is now racing to save Asher. When CJ has a visit from an unexpected guest and then Asher suddenly doesn’t show up for an important meeting, CJ knows something must be wrong. She trusts her instincts and decides she must take matters into her own hands, but will that end up getting her killed? Can she find Asher in time to make everything right? Will they get their happily ever after? This story may just end with the way they prepared for it all along, in heartache, destruction, and death.

Annie Jocoby did a wonderful job on this series. She keeps the reader engaged, has strong characters, and a balanced mix of love, rejection, suspense, and storytelling. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and appreciated the way it all ended.

Close Up (Exposure, #3) by Annie Jocoby – Review Colleen Noyes

Close Up (Exposure, #3)Close Up by Annie Jocoby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Close Up by Annie Jocoby is the third book in the Exposure Series and picks up immediately where book 2 left off. CJ is completely shocked by Asher’s proposal and even though she wants to say yes, there are still so many doubts for her. It doesn’t help that she still can’t remember any of the feelings she had before her accident.

While she is trying unsuccessfully to put her life back together, it has made her stronger and she is beginning to face things she once ran from like visiting her mother and sister. What she doesn’t expect is the response she receives from them, but you see a true growth in how she handles the rejection.

Asher wants desperately to be there for her and for her just to love him. The problem is that he doesn’t really know the meaning of the word boundaries and the more he pushes the more she pulls. They create a tug-o-war of emotions that hurts both of them because they can’t seem to find a balance.

CJ wants to be a woman on her own two feet before jumping into anything. “I need to get my life together. I need to prove to myself that I can handle my own problems and issues on my own. My family, my job, my finances…I need to know, for myself, that I’m not helpless without you. I hope that I can get my head straightened out about all of this, and I can come back to you and take you up on your proposal. I’m not making any promises, though.”

For the first time in his life Asher truly loves someone and is willing to take a chance, to share everything about his past, all his secrets but knows he first needs the approval of his father or CJ will be susceptible to what Sophie would do to her. That’s a chance Asher just can’t take. As Sophie continues to blackmail and threaten them, they are in a race against the clock. Will they be able to keep CJ safe? Will CJ be able to handle all of Asher’s secrets and still love him? The continuation of their story in this third book keeps you engaged and intrigued. You just want to root for them, but it’s possible it’s just way too late.

Dirty Deeds by Liliana Hart is a Novella as part of the J.J. Graves mystery series. Jack Lawson and J.J. (Jaye) Graves have finally taken their wedding vows after solving their last murder.

Now all they want is a quiet honeymoon, relaxing on an island, and making love more times than they can count. “We can put another tally mark on the wall.” JJ said. “I don’t have the energy. Your tally mark idea is going to put me into an early grave. I need some rest and some food, woman. We’re on sex hiatus for at least an hour.” “I didn’t know marriage was going to make you so whiny.”

However, in true JJ form, trouble comes knocking at their door and now there is a dead man. JJ and Jack can’t help themselves when the local officer needs their help solving the murder of a man nearly 100 years old.

Why would anyone murder a man who probably would have died in a few months? What could rock the quietness of this small community where crime rarely happened? As they find themselves smack dab in the middle of the investigation, what they uncover could haunt them for the rest of their lives.

Liliana Hart gives us a great quick read to update us on J.J. and Jack with just enough intrigue to leave us desiring more and tapping our fingers waiting for the next book.

Tempting Fate (Serendipity, #2) by Brinda Berry – Review by Colleen Noyes

Tempting Fate (Serendipity, #2)Tempting Fate by Brinda Berry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tempting Fate by Brinda Berry is her second book in the Serendipity Series and I absolutely loved it! This is the story of Collin Cordova who we met in the first book “Chasing Luck”, as Malerie’s friend and business partner. Collin, has a flourishing business, great friends, and he thought the love of his life in Raquel, but he soon discovers that she has betrayed him. He is left bitter, angry, and broken-hearted when Veronica Marshall literally crashes into his life. He can’t believe that she rear-ends him and then takes off, only to be found hitchhiking a short time later.

Veronica, is running scared from her life back home. She is fragile, broken, and clearly not in her right mind, but Collin sees something besides desperation behind her eyes. He can’t resist wanting to help her, even though he knows he may end up regretting it. “My urge to help her, fix her, know her… is a dangerous one. I can’t get involved.” When Collin notices bruises on her and that she won’t take any calls from her brother Gunnar, he assumes it must be her brother that has hurt her. The truth however, may be far worse.

When Collin offers to let Veronica stay with him one night she secretly wonders if he is a murderer. “What’s in your trunk?” “My what?” “Chainsaw? Garbage bags? Bleach?” Collin can’t help but smile and be a little amused. “You checking my supplies list?” “I’m a girl.” “You must watch a lot of crime drama.” After a few moments he realizes that she really is afraid “Hey, I’m going to call someone to vouch for me. Murderers don’t like witnesses.” “Okay. A girl. Call a girl, but not your mother. Your mother might lie to protect you.”

Both Collin and Veronica find themselves in a sticky situation with chemistry that seems to explode in a room. Since neither one of them had a great family life, they are both scared and hesitant to take a leap of faith. They begin a friendship that requires each of them to let down their walls a little and trust. Something they don’t even believe in considering all they have dealt with. Collin doesn’t believe that there is a woman who isn’t a lying cheat and Veronica doesn’t believe there is a man capable of being kind and good. “Is there such a thing as a nice jackass?” When their worlds collide they may soon discover their impressions are wrong, but will they be able to tear down the walls of protection? Can they find a compromise that allows them to be their own person, but also be together? Will Veronica continue on the run right out of Collin’s life and away from her troubles? Is there really such a thing as happily ever after when two people have been so hurt, betrayed, and let down?

This story has strong main characters and supporting characters. It updates us on Malerie and Ace from “Chasing Luck” and introduces us to Gunnar, Beck, Dylan, Emerson, and Jordy. The writing is captivating, smooth, and so funny at times. I think that Brinda Berry captures the essence of each character and lets us see them from the inside out. The story is told in Collin and Veronica’s POV’s. I can’t wait to get my hands on “Seducing Fortune”
