License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Jana Teppih

License to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #1)License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen is the first book in her new series New Orleans Nocturnes. I had read her Crescent City Ghost Tours so I knew I had to pick up License to Bite. It is a bit different from the Ghost Tours as it ventures even deeper into the paranormal world but as she has written other paranormal stories then I was not surprised at all how much I liked the story. Add to this that it was a paranormal COMEDY then you can just imagine how much fun one could have with it!
License to Bite gives us Ethan Devereaux who has been a vampire for quite many years and he thinks that his heart will never beat again as he lost his fiancée before he was turned. But then enters Jane Anderson, Governor’s daughter, who seems to be Ethan’s fiancée reincarnated but … well, that is not the case when she wakes up sober (after Mardi Gras and all the drinking she had done the night she met Ethan) and on top of that, she has a huge aversion to blood that is an absolute no-no for vampires … and so our romantic paranormal comedy commences, with bells and whistles and with a deadline of three weeks or …
So, if you like paranormal, romance, comedy and New Orleans, then this book AND series if for sure for you so buckle down and here we go!

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 4-6): A Small Town Romantic Comedy Series by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Jana Teppih

K.L. Montgomery has combined the other 3 books in her Rehoboth Series into a Boxed Set – Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 4-6): A Small Town Romantic Comedy Series. She gave us the first three books in a set and then went ahead and gave us another present, another set with books 4 to 6. Her romantic small town romcoms make you wish to move into a small town yourself hoping that you could meet some of those strong independent heroines and make friends with them and maybe catch the eye of a down-to-earth hero … All the stories can be read as standalones but if your heart longs for some romcom, go ahead and binge!
Book 1 aka Book 4 is Badge Bunny that is the story of the ER doctor Brynne Miller aka the ‘Badge Bunny’ and Chris Everson who is a state trooper and who managed to piss off Brynne within 2 seconds of meeting her! So how do you get over that first impression that is compounded with follow up meetings where Chris manages to annoy the heck out of Brynne? Well, you put them together in major crisis that simply demands that they need to work together to handle it!
Book 2 aka Book 5 is Wedding War and as you can guess from the title, it is a feud between families involved in wedding business! You can just imagine what a journey the writer is taking us on so be prepared to laugh until you pee your pants and try not to swoon too much!
Book 3 aka Book 6 is Stage Mom that gives us a beautiful story of a mother fighting for her special needs daughter! Larissa Emerson is a mother any special needs child would love to have, she is like a mother tiger fighting for her daughter Hailey being treated like any other girl and that means also participating in a pageant! Yes! Larissa takes Mateo Flores (whose family owns the pageant and he has been put in charge), down to his knees and the rest is history …

A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde – Review by Jana Teppih

A Gentleman's Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon, #4)A Gentleman’s Stipulation by Jean Wilde
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Gentleman’s Stipulation is the fourth book in Jean Wilde’s The Scarlet Salon series. It is my first encounter with the writer and her writing I was lucky that the story can be read as a standalone as it is number four in the series! I tend to keep to my ‘usual suspects’ when it comes to historical romance and it is not very often that I pick up a new writer and I am happy I picked up A Gentleman’s Stipulation. It was an intriguing and engaging romance that pulled me in from the beginning.
A Gentleman’s Stipulation gives us Lady Victoria Gilbert and her family secrets and Blake Hall, the son of a nouveau rich mill tycoon. On surface they have nothing together so you can start picturing already now what a ride the writer is taking us on with those two! She gives us some pretty scandalous scenes that were quite refreshing to read in an historical romance… add to this authentic historical details and you have something every historical romance lover can cherish!
After finishing book four, I went back and read the blurbs to the first three and I think that I need to deepen my acquaintance with Ms Wilde and The Scarlet Salon further!

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 1-3): A Small Town Romantic Comedy Series by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Jana Teppih

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 1-3)Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books #1 to 3) is a present from K.L. Montgomery to all her avid fans – you can simply have all three first books in one nice set, making it easy to lose yourself into hours and hours of goodness! You could read all the books as standalones but getting them as a book set makes this point moot as you will read all of them!
The set includes Music Man (Book 1), The Flip (Book 2) and Plot Twist (Book 3).
The whole series gives us stories that are about how to love oneself, what happens when you follow your dreams (or do not), and how does it feel to find the other half of your soul.
The first book – Music Man – is Jack and Clare’s poignant story about what you do when your moment in the limelight arrives when you are already settled in another kind of life and have found a woman that is the other half of your soul. The second book – The Flip – is the story of Andrew and Sonnet who have hated each other since high school. It takes 10 years for them to come to the point where they have to come together in honouring someone’s bequest and what a journey it starts them on! The third book – Plot Twist – this is the crazy story of Meric Chandler and Lindy Larson filled with music and backstage romance and I have to say that Lindy is probably the one out of all three heroines that I could most relate with.
You will not go astray by picking up the set and losing yourself into the Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with independent heroines and down-to-earth men that have to work hard to earn their love!

FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY: Flowers in December, Coming Home, Second Chance by Jane Suen – Review by Jana Teppih

FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGYFLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flowers in December gives us all three of Jane Suen’s books in the series – Flowers in December, Coming Home and Second Chance. I love when the writers give us a treat and combine their series in sets, it gives us pages and pages and hours upon hours of pleasure. You only notice that the time has passed when you come up for air!
Flowers in December is the opening act and it introduces us to Connor who has just lost his mother and he is struggling hard with his loss. It also introduces us to Tom, Connor’s mother’s orange tabby, a character you will not forget … and then there is Mary Ann …Flowers in December is a profound journey of grief and how we deal with it and the writer takes care of Connor and how she tells his story. What makes it even more profound is that Connor is alone, utterly alone; he has no one to come home to …
Coming Home takes place four months after the end of Flowers in December when Connor ‘comes home’ for holidays. I was delighted to meet up with Connor, Tom (the orange tabby of Connor’s diseased mother) … and Mary Ann! Is it going to be the second chance for Connor who is still grieving his mother … The writer has given us a story filled with hope and healing and forgiveness … it is also a story of possibility of a Christmas miracle! I read the story when the holiday season was long gone and the writer’s words took me back to the holiday season when everyone hopes for something special (and someone special)! And you should read the first book before you jump into this one; you will enjoy the ride much more! The writer gives us also the delight of meeting Ron and Norma and Alana again … Close your eyes and you will wonder down the streets of the town with them while getting lost in your imagination! (I pictured the small town in California that I lived in for some years when picturing the small town that the writer has brought us to!)
And then we have the conclusion – Second Chance. We are back with Connor and Mary Ann and Connor’s mother’s cat Tom. Connor is back to stay and he has finally acknowledged that it was a grave mistake to leave Mary Ann and he is going to go out on a limb to make her part of his and Tom’s life, again … from scrambled eggs to finger licking grilled cheese … If you love second chances stories then this series is the one to go to and you will be keeping your fingers crossed for Connor and Mary Ann until they cramp!

TWO HEARTS UNLIKELY HEROES (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8) by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Jana Teppih

Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance #9)Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes is the ninth book in Tamara Ferguson’s Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance series. I think I have read every single one of Tamara’s books – I was hooked from the very first one I picked up! There is something magical about the world she creates with her words, magical in a sense of the humanity and togetherness and brotherhood and the goodness and the eternal hope for the best, for that there shall be light after the darkness … When I feel down then I know that picking up one of Tamara’s books I will feel better.
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes gives us Captain Samantha Caldwell and Captain Ben Nash who are thrown together when Sam is being targeted by terrorists after she killed their leader in Iraq and Ben is there to keep her safe. The ride that Sam and Ben takes us on is thrilling and nail-biting and I was happy to meet couple of ‘old friends’ from other of Tamara’s books and it is always a pleasure to return to Crystal Rock! You could read this story as a standalone but I promise you that you will get even more out of it by reading also the other books as the Crystal Rock universe will pull you in and then you want to venture outside the Wounded Warrior series as it is like an old tapestry with threads interwoven and having created a magnificent piece of art!

IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE (Irresistible Romance Book 3) Anthology – Review by Jana Teppih

IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE (Irresistible Romance Book 3)IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Irresistible Valentine is pages and pages and hours upon hours of goodness aka it is the third instalment in the Irresistible Romance anthology series and is filled with Valentine stories by nine amazing writers – Tamara Ferguson, Natalie Ann, Suzanne Jenkins, Cynthia Cooke, Alicia Street, Jacquie Bigger, Stacy Eaton, Susan Jean Ricci and Patrice Wilton. I love anthologies as they give you a sample of multiple writers so it is a great way of discovering new writers! This is how I had already found quite a few of the writers who contributed to this anthology.
I will share my review for Tamara Ferguson’s Two Hearts’ Reconnaissance – she is my absolute favorite writer out of all nine writers here! I think I have read every single story she has written and I have not encountered anything that I would not love! Two Hearts’’ Reconnaissance is part of her Two Hearts Wounded Warrior romance series and it is the 13th!!!!!! instalment! (can you just imagine all the goodness you have to look forward to if this is your first encounter with her!) As you can imagine from the title of the series then the stories have a very serious subject matter but I promise you, they are filled with hope and we always get our happy ending!
Two Hearts’ Reconnaissance gives us Eva Loughlin and Harry Giordano who has survived a lot! (Have a box of tissues at hand! You will need it from the start!) There is this amazing connection between them since the moment they met when they were just kids! Life takes them into different directions and as it is with living, there are ups and downs and thorough it all we keep our fingers crossed for a chance for them to find a way back to each other! I also loved learning more about some of the characters that I have read about in the other stories.
There were three writers in the anthology that were new for me and it was Jacquie Biggar’s story the Player that took the cherry! I love sports stories (especially hockey ones) and Jacquie gives us Roy who gets sidelined from NHL thanks to his stalker ex so he ends up needing some little help from a PA Patience … so you can imagine the good laughs and antics and aww moments she mixed up for us and to be frank, I think the story would have deserved to be longer! I for sure will keep my eyes open for more by Jacquie!

Rockin’ It Home: a Lawson Family Novel by Tracey Cramer-Kelly – Review by Jana Teppih

Rockin' It Home (Lawson Family #3)Rockin’ It Home by Tracey Cramer-Kelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rockin’ It Home is the third book in Tracey Cramer-Kelly’s Lawson Family Series! Finally Ben is getting his book! If you have read the first two books in the series then you know what I mean by ‘finally’! It is a beautifully written story of second chances and new beginnings and family …
Rockin’ It Home gives us Benjamin Lawson’s story – he is our recovering divorced dad who is trying to keep his visitation right to the only person he cares about, his two year old daughter, and then we get Danielle de Luca, from a true Italian family, who is his PA and his babysitter … I have always liked Ben and I was impatiently waiting for his book as I was wondering into what direction the writer would take his journey and she did it beautifully … She gave us a flawed man who feels at home only on the stage, with his music, who learns to accept his flaws and who needs to find his faith and give himself for the mistakes he has done in the past … I admire the writer for the way she is addressing the issue of addiction in a way that hit home but at the same time did not drag you down into the despair … I also loved meeting the characters from the previous two books so it truly felt like visiting family back at home! AND let’s not forget about the teaser for Carly’s book so keep your schedule open!

Out Of The Shadows by Theresa Sederholt – Review by Jana Teppih

Out Of The ShadowsOut Of The Shadows by Theresa Sederholt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Out of the Shadows by Theresa Sederholt is a book that will stay with you for a while. It rips you apart and leaves you laying in pieces. It will also give you hope. From the first book I picked up by this writer, I have gone back each time another of her books pops up on my radar. She has her way with words, the images she paints in your mind are powerful and they stay with you. She is not afraid to tackle sensitive subjects and when she does, she takes such care that you feel cared for.
Out of the Shadows is another one of those subjects that are not so much talked about. She grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. You are there, with Brady and Dane, and you are confused first and once you realized what you have ‘walked into’, you are stuck … you cry, you laugh, you hope and you have a deeper understanding of what so many struggle with and what it takes to survive! I wish I could give more than 5 stars …

A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON (Daydreams & Dragonflies Rock ‘N Sweet Romance 3) By Tamara Ferguson – Review by Jana Teppih

A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON (Daydreams & Dragonflies Rock 'N Sweet Romance 3)A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Kiss Beneath a Strawberry Moon is the third book in Tamara Ferguson’s Daydreams & Dragonflies Rock ‘N Sweet Romance series. It is a series that combines the magic of Dragon Pointe and the music so be prepared to be swept away! Each story can be read as a standalone but you will want to read them in order and not miss any of them as there are characters that pop up again and again and in the big picture they all end up being connected one way of the other!
A Kiss Beneath a Strawberry Moon gives us Marielle McKinnon and Drew Kendall who meet in the music camp in Crystal Rock. Marielle is an amazing aspiring vocalist and Drew is an aspiring song writer. Both of them have their own burdens that make the whole story even more inspiring and beautiful and like any other true love story there are challenges that need to be overcome! The writer has taken care with spinning their story and lets the strawberry moon shine its beautiful light on it!

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Jana Teppih

Call of the Alpha (The Powder River Pack #2)Call of the Alpha by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Call of the Alpha is the second book in Brooke May’s paranormal Powder River Pack series. It was not my first encounter with the writer and even though the other book I had read by her was not a paranormal, I was not disappointed! I love paranormal genre and she is someone I will gladly go back to and as Call of the Alpha is the second book then it means I have already downloaded the first book and will spend my Saturday with digging deeper into the Powder River Pack in Wyoming! I know everyone says that you can read this story as standalone and after having finished it and having read the blurb for the first book, I completely agree THOUGH you should still go and read the first book (I know you will want after meeting Derek in the Call of the Alpha).
Call of the Alpha gives us Rylie, the biologist returning to her home town, and Mason, the alpha of the Powder River Pack and a single father to young Archer who simply steals your heart! The writer gives us heartbreak and laughter and action and passion and pain … there are some secrets that see the light of the day and then there are secrets that are still to be revealed so hopefully the writer will not make us to wait too long for Miles and Alexa’s story (fingers crossed they are next)!
Even though it is a paranormal story, we are all human deep down so there is a lot we can relate to, hope for and swear by … I believe that this story telling goes beyond the paranormal and the writer gives us the depth she has with describing relationships and deep feelings and that I fell in love with while reading the first book I ever read by her (Back in the Ring).

Before the Second Show by Thia Finn – Review by Jana Teppih

Before the Second ShowBefore the Second Show by Thia Finn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before the Second Show is a beautiful second chances rock star romance by Thia Finn. It is the first book I have read by this writer and I know that from now on I will keep my eyes out on anything new that she releases. I absolutely love second chances stories and I also love stories that span over long period of time (whether in actual narrative or simply jumping the years and giving us the experience of those years passed).
Before the Second Show gives us Emmy and Alex. Emmy is our young teenager filled with angst and dreams and in the throes of a young love that goes unanswered, Alex is your quintessential musician – sex, drugs and rock’n’roll! Add to the mix Marcus, a guy who is perfect on paper and seems just the right man for Emmy to move on with and leave the teenage crush behind …
As it is a story of second chances then it is not as simple as it could be and the writer takes us on a rollercoaster ride. She gives us banter and she gives us craziness as there is a whole gang aka Trace band members along on the ride that makes it even wilder and makes us hope that Before the Second Show is just a beginning to a series that we all rocker girls, young and mature, want to go back to!

Scoring Chance: A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin – Review by Jana Teppih

Scoring Chance : A Mile High Miners NovellaScoring Chance : A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Scoring Chance: A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin was a great and quick contemporary sports read that left me wishing for more! It is my first read by the writer so I went looking for what else she has written and whether there is a Mile High Miners series (as I am sure all of us who read this novella are asking ourselves)!
Scoring Chance gives us Eden Snow and Rhett Crawford – Eden whose past is a mystery and keeps us guessing for a while, and Rhett who is a backup goalie for NHL Mile High Miners Hockey Team. I loved the opening to the story as it made me sit up and go…what is going on here???!!! The story also had great secondary characters who all deserve their own stories (hint, hint Ms Martin)! The writer has given us a story that takes us on a rollercoaster ride with slaying our fears and overcoming a childhood that no child deserves to live … I hope that this is not the last time the writer takes us to the Mile High Miners in Colorado and that she will give us more than ‘just’ novellas!

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Jana Teppih

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Other Words is the opening act of Pamela Q. Fernandes’ new Boothbay Harbor series. I had read couple of her books before and as I liked the way she presented the world and the issues we encounter, she was someone I kept my eye out for and here she comes with her new series! She is touching on some very sensitive matters and I admire the care and understanding she has while addressing them.
In Other Words gives us the story of Trish Hold, an adopted child from Korea and internationally acclaimed pianist who is searching for her identity. She needs to find her true roots and she has that inherent need to belong that so many adopted children have … while she has that need, she is not doing much about it in real sense … she has the need to be loved so she falls for anyone who shows her affection and most of us know what it means … it doesn’t last so the men leave her and it feeds the feeling of being unlovable … Enters Michael that has his own baggage, coming from the family that does not share a lot of love … and then you have the clash of expectations and needs and struggle and you will keep your fingers crossed to the last page, hoping …
I am curious to see what happens next in Boothbay Harbor and I am sure the writer will not disappoint us!

THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART – Review by Jana Teppih

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Runaround is the long awaited (at least by me!) sixth book in Sylvie Stewart’s Carolina Connections series. I am sure you are thinking she must have read all the books in the series and YOU ARE RIGHT! I absolutely love the series and though one could say that you can read all the books as standalone then I will tell you “Read the in order so that you get every minor reference and you know every single person you meet in the story!”.
The Runaround gives us Ari and Jax and if you have read the rest of the series then you have met them before and like me you are gleefully sitting at the edge of your seat and ready to hit the road with them! These two make you laugh so hard you almost pee your panties, and they make you roll your eyes and then it gets way too hot and you need to turn up your AC! I love the way the writer makes us feel so close to the characters to you feel invested in the like you would with your best friends and yes, it might feel a bit too flirty with those two and you might not like that they hide their relationship from the rest of the gang, you will still keep your fingers crossed and hope for a happy ending as their story is like a rolling ocean that you cannot escape from!
I truly hope that this is not the end as I am sure there are many more Carolina Connection stories hiding in Sylvie Stewart’s imagination!

Landing the Lawman (Hills of Texas #5) by Kadie Scott – Review by Jana Teppih

Landing the Lawman (Hills of Texas, #5)Landing the Lawman by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Landing the Lawman is the fifth book in Kadie Scott’s Hills of Texas series. You can read it as a standalone but my personal preference when it comes to series is to read them in order as you will get so much more pleasure out of the reading by knowing the little bits and pieces of the background and repeat characters and …
Landing the Lawman gives the only Hill daughter – Carter Hill, the water rights consultants, and her biggest client Logan Cortez, a lawyer who has dedicated his life to helping small farms to protect their water supply! Carter has had to make some hard decisions in her life – needing to choose between the man she loves or following her dreams … she knows that following her dreams she would make a difference and being the only girl in the family of boys … anyone can imagine the pressure she has been putting on herself!
The writer gives us two people who teach each other about what is important in life while throwing them into some heated moments … you will be cheering with Carter when she is trying to show Logan that they are the two halves of a whole and you will be crossing your toes and fingers for one satisfying ending!

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set: (Books 1-2-3) Vigilante Justice Thriller Series by Mark Nolan – Review by Jana Teppih

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set (Jake Wolfe #1-3)Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mark Nolan has given us a present and has packed the first three books in his Jake Wolfe series into one bundle box set! The set includes Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie, Vigilante Assassin, and Killer Lawyer. There is also a fourth book – San Diego Dead – that you need to get separate if you fall in love with the series like I did!
The first book, Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie, introduces us to Jake Wolfe who is a lawyer but who originally was not on the mysterious killer’s wealthy San Francisco lawyers kill list. He unfortunately happened to take is picture and so does the deadly game of cat and mouse start. The first book gives you a taste and you will get addicted as Mark Nolan is mixing drama, suspense, mystery, crime, military, flashbacks, sexy women … you name it and he has included it! Jake Wolfe is a military veteran who has a secret past and in the opening act he is working as a photo journalist for a local news channel! What a great way of stumbling into something that one would never want to stumble into, a murder! The writer also gives us Jake’s military dog Cody who is a character in his own rights and I think all of us will think that ‘I wish I had a dog like Cody’ after reading the book.
The second book, Vigilante Assassin, takes us deeper into the amazing world that Mark Nolan has created! Vigilante Assassin is a story filled with action and suspense and mystery … I loved the way the writer is spinning the story, it pulls us in and we feel we are next to the action taking place … I loved how Cody ‘talked’ and how much it all gave to the story, creating another layer … At times I felt though as if the way the writer had Jake speaking that it was too short but the more I got into the story, the more I grew comfortable with it and I felt that it actually added to the story … Not only do we hear Jake and Cody’s thoughts, we also ‘hear’ the other characters’ thoughts, what an intricate weave!
Killer Lawyer is the third book in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series and what a story it is! I have to say that the writing gets better and better with each book! The writer is a master of intense action thrillers and you are guaranteed a head spinning rollercoaster ride! You could read the story as a standalone but you would miss out of having met Jake and Cody and Sarah (Jake’s girlfriend who is a veterinarian) and seen how they began!
In Killer Lawyer our ex-marine lawyer turned Jake Wolfe with his war dog Cody are thrown into find out who is the serial killer who seems to be killing random people … These two get involved when one of Jake’s friends is killed so we are getting a story of revenge and survival and outsmarting of the killer! I loved complex story line and the interaction between the characters, the companionship and comradery among the men, the bond between Jake and Cody, the longing for peace and quiet and at the same time the need to step in and right the wrongs! AND add to this the alternating point of views, oh my, to be in the head of that evil killer … chills along your spine!
If you love a good suspense story that grabs you and doesn’t let go and has unforgettable characters then you’d better pick up the bundle!

Ink’s Devil (Satan’s Devils MC Colorado Chapter #5) by Manda Mellett – Review by Jana Teppih

Ink's Devil: Satan's Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #5Ink’s Devil: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #5 by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ink’s Devil: Satan’s Devils MC is the fifth book in Manda Mellett’s Colorado Chapter series! I have been waiting for it since the conclusion of Devil’s Dilemma where we met Beth for the first time! I guess you could read it as a standalone as the writer is great at peppering the background through her stories to the extent it fits but I would still recommend you to take it one by one and in order!
When I first met Beth in Devil’s Dilemma I was not sure if I would really like her. I had been curious about Ink for ever so I was happy to see he was getting his own story but Beth, I was not so sure … and then came Melissa and Pyro’s wedding and the rest was history! It keeps blowing my mind how the Satan’s Devils keep getting themselves mixed up in business that is not theirs … well, the ride that they take us on though leaves you breathless! I warn you that it might take you a bit to lose yourself in the story but if you stick with it then you fall so deep so that once you finish you feel like a fish on a dry land!
I love how the writer has created this universe of Satan’s Devils with a spin-off and I have heard rumours that there will be other spin-offs as there are quite a few chapters so do not fear, there will always be another Devil’s story around the corner to feed our MC craving!

Lillie (Maggie Trilogy Series Book 3) by Mya O’Malley – Review by Jana Teppih

Lillie (Maggie Trilogy Series Book 3)Lillie by Mya O’Malley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lillie is the grand finale of Mya O’Malley’s Maggie Trilogy and what a finale it is! If you love paranormal suspense and love stories than congratulations, you have hit the jackpot AND you absolutely need to read the series in order as the previous books have been building up to it all!
The journey we have been on with Naomi has been an interesting one, she has been through a lot and Lillie really tests her and she realises what her destiny is. Naomi can see and hear spirits that come to her for help so that they could have some sort of disclosure. In Lillie Naomi has married Bryce and she has hoped to have some time to find her normal and enjoy her married life and get to settle into her role as a stepmother to Holly.
The writer takes us on a rollercoaster ride that she has thrown in couple of crazy twists and developments and I truly hope that there will be a spin-off as she hints at when wrapping up the trilogy as I love the paranormal genre and her writing style!

The Istanbul Conspiracy (Code Raven Book 7) by Lynda Filler – Review by Jana Teppih

The Istanbul Conspiracy (Code Raven #7)The Istanbul Conspiracy by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Istanbul Conspiracy is the seventh instalment in Lynda Filler’s Code Raven series! I have read most of the series so it was an absolute pleasure to spend some time with the Raven Group again! I have to admit that it seems that the series gets more thrilling with each book and I have no idea how the writer does it!! You finish the story and think gosh, I wonder what they will be facing next and here it comes, nail biting rollercoaster ride!
I love how every story has their own story line/case while still keeping the big picture that makes it really important to keep reading the series in order (it means that I need to go back and catch up and it is not a hardship!).
The Istanbul Conspiracy takes the team on the road to help one of their own whose life turns into tragedy on the day that is supposed to be the their happiest day. I love the bond that binds the group together as they truly are there for each other, at times putting their own plans and needs aside like it is this time.
Through twists and turns and guessing game we finally find out who, where and why and then, the writer throws in a special treat at the end! Thank you! I cannot wait to see what comes next for the Raven gang!

Second Chance (Flowers in December #3)Second Chance by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Second Chances is the conclusion of Jane Suen’s Flowers in December and even though some sources say you could read it as a standalone, please do us all a favour and start from the beginning! Trilogy is a trilogy and you would be missing out on all of the backstory!

Connor is back to stay and he has finally acknowledged that it was a grave mistake to leave Mary Ann and he is going to go out on a limb to make her part of his and Tom’s life, again … from scrambled eggs to finger licking grilled cheese … If you love second chances stories then this series is the one to go to and you will be keeping your fingers crossed for Connor and Mary Ann until the cramp!

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Jana Teppih

The Fat Girl's Guide to Loving Your BodyThe Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery is a book I picked up with slight hesitation – there are loads of body positivity books and self-help books out there and I was wondering what would be the difference … what would be the purpose of picking up another one that would end up collecting dust (well, digital dust in this case) … BUT I was wrong, it is actually an interactive book that will start you on a journey IF you are open to it and why wouldn’t you? You have nothing to lose … so I took the first step and started with the journaling and already the first journaling assignment was like a kick in my stomach … it was debilitating to realize where we come from and how long we have been on that destructive path … and even when I thought that I have come a long way, there is still such a long way to go …
I will be working with this book for the rest of the year like the writer hopes that we would do, as she says it is not a quick journey or change of mind set, it takes time and it takes unconditional love … I also loved the song list, I have added all those songs to my playlist AND I started my journaling in a digital journal so that I can always have an access to the entries as it lives on the cloud …
Thank you Krista Lynne Montgomery for giving us a book that goes beyond the self-help industry handbooks!

Naomi (Maggie Trilogy Book 2) by Mya O’Malley – Review by Jana Teppih

NaomiNaomi by Mya O’Malley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Naomi is the second book in Mya O’Malley’s paranormal Maggie Trilogy so we have one more book to look forward to! We are back with Naomi and Bryce, her next door single dad and her fiancé. You absolutely have to start with book one! Neither of the books have a cliffhanger BUT it is a trilogy so do yourself a favour and read the in order!
The story carries on from the end of the last book and the writer throws us on a rollercoaster from chapter 1! There are twists and turns and you will be sitting on the edge of your seat until you come to the end and close the book. You will feel with the characters, you will follow them into the darkness and into the light … I loved how Naomi was building her own strong relationship with Holly and how she becomes the mom Holly needs. I also loved how we still get to hear about Ryan and Maggie, that they did not get left behind when we finished with book one. I also loved how the writer gives us the story from two different persons’ point of view so at any given time you can truly feel like you are part of the story along with Naomi and Bryce so I can simply not wait how the trilogy will conclude!

Master’s Rise: Book 1 (Phoenix Series) by L. Ann Marie – Review by Jana Teppih

Master's Rise: Book One (Phoenix Series)Master’s Rise: Book One by L. Ann Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Master’s Rise is the first book in L. Ann Marie’s Phoenix MC Series. This is my first read by this writer and as I absolutely love MC stories then I decided why the heck not AND I was not disappointed, not a bit!
It is supposedly a new series but I had a feeling that I was missing something and when doing some looking up I could see that I should go and read her other MC series to get the full impact of this one (though kudos to the writer in regard of trying to give us as much of background as possible but one does not want to become a drag…)
Master’s rise gives us the story of Cort who has left his old MC with some of his brothers following him so they will start up a new MC in a town that needs some fixing up, and of Seren who has always been treated slightly different because of how she looks … throw these two together with Seren’s hilarious and crazy friends and Cort’s MC brothers in a town that offers them loads of challenges and you get a story that doesn’t leave you indifferent! I am looking forward to the next one in the series and I see many good stories in our future!

Set it Free (Fallen Eagles MC Book 3) by T. Birmingham – Review by Jana Teppih

Set it Free (Fallen Eagles MC Book 3)Set it Free by T. Birmingham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Set it Free is the long-awaited third book in T.Birmingham’s Fallen Eagles MC series! At least I have been waiting for it FOR EVER! I fell in love with the Markham sisters when I read the first book of the series and the ones who have read the first book you know very well how much Spring deserved her own book! You should NOT read any of the books in the series as standalones! If you do attempt, I promise you will give up and go back to the beginning to do it the right way!
Set it Free is the story of the oldest Markham sisters – Spring and she has finally reached the crossroads and she needs surface and find herself again or … and it is the story of Callum “Casper” Gordon who has lived his life without any commitment and not needing a family … he is there to clean up other’s messes and he is always to leave first …
It is beautifully crafted story that stays with you for a while … it makes you cry and it makes you rage and it makes you fall in love, again, with life and living and yourself! I cannot wait to see what the writer has in store for Autumn and the rest of the MC!

Hennessey on the Rocks by Monica DeSimone – Review by Jana Teppih

Hennessey on the RocksHennessey on the Rocks by Monica DeSimone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hennessey on the Rocks by Monica DeSimone is masterfully written story of second chances. There was something about the synopsis that made me to pick up a copy and also as I had read Monica’s other books then I sort of thought I knew what to expect but it was something much more … it was powerful, mature, gripping … AND it took place in New England (there is something about New England and I can never pass over a story that takes place in Maine or somewhere else in the region).
Hennessey on the Rocks gives us Charlie and Johnnie and Jace and Abie. These four steal your heart and I tell you the three year old Abie is a kid that any parent would love to have … she simply stole my heart AND let’s not forget the laughter that we got out of her “pearls”, oh my! I absolutely love the story line, the pain, the secrets, the love … I hope that it is opening to a series as I am telling you, Monica had some supporting characters here that deserve their own stories!

The Ash Park Series Boxed Set (Books 1-3) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Jana Teppih

The Ash Park Series Box Set (Books 1-3): Famished, Conviction, and RepressedThe Ash Park Series Box Set (Books 1-3): Famished, Conviction, and Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Ash Park Series Box Set by Meghan O’Flynn contains the first three books of the series – Famished, Conviction, and Repressed! Be forewarned that there are MORE in the series so plan extra time beyond the box set to get the whole impact!
FAMISHED is the opening to the series that introduces us to Detective Petrosky who will be our lead throughout the series. The opening to the series was a bit underwhelming, at least that is how I felt as I had read the fourth book … I know though that it will get more intense with each book as the writer gets more and more into the characters, giving them more dimension … it is a great start to a twisted labyrinth of violence where everyone has too many skeletons in their closets. The writer gives us a cat and mouse serial killer universe that leaves you doubting yourself and guessing at who it is.
I loved that the story was told from multiple characters’ point of view as it added dimension and layers. I have to warn you that it is very graphic so it is not for faint at heart!
CONVICTION is the second book in series that takes place in the run down area of Detroit. You can see how the writer has gotten deeper into the Ash Park world, the story is complex and the characters have layers, you learn more about them and it makes you understand where they come from and why they act the way they do. All of them are like us – dark and light – and it is up to them how they choose.
We have Petrosky and Morrison with Shannon Taylor from the prosecutor’s office and all of them have their doubts regarding the ‘guilty’ verdict that the young woman Ashley Johnson received. And the doubts grow stronger when Shannon gest stalked and her family gets harassed … and there is a galore of suspects … take your pick! At the same time, the story is much more than just trying to find out who the killer is …
REPRESSED is the third story in the series and I think she has done it now … I have nothing to say but “she has arrived”, roll out the carpet!
Repressed is THE story of Detective Curtis Morrison who we met in the first book and learnt more about in the second book … but still (zen) waters run deep … his checkered past seems to be catching up to him – his wife (who we also met in the previous books, the second book was her book) and baby daughter go missing and there is this sadistic monster that is ruling this nightmare that he has initiated to make Morrison to pay for the sins from twenty years ago…
The story is dark, disturbing … it is very graphic, the violence, it leaves you shuddering… the way the writer describes addition, it blows your mind … the story is fast paced and you will get a mystery with its beginning, middle and the end!

Rule (The Larussio Legacy Book 1) by Via Mari – Review by Jana Teppih

Rule The Larussio Legacy (#1)Rule The Larussio Legacy by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rule is the first book in our amazing Via Mari’s new series called Larussio Legacy. I hesitate to call it a spin-off of her Prestian series as Larussio is Katarina’s family and for the ones who are in the same boat with me aka die-hard fans of Via Mari, then you all know that Katarina is the lead character in the Prestian series with her husband Chase Prestian … so you can see it is all kept in the family!
Rule is told from FOUR different points of views! Of course Katarina and Chase and then Giovanni, the next in line to become the Don of the Family AND Serena who has lived her life in the fear of the Larussio family … Throw these four together, add to this the magic that Via Mari adds to all her writing and you are left with an opening move that will leave you panting for the next book in the series!
