The Only One (The Brothers of Camelot Book 1) by Necie Navone – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Only One (Brothers of Camelot, #1)The Only One by Necie Navone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Only One (The Brothers of Camelot Book 1) by Necie Navone is a story that will blow you away and make you fall in love with these wonderful characters. Right from the start you are drawn in and find yourself wanting to be a part of their world. Necie is a talented writer and keeps the suspense flowing and emotions high. There are moments when tensions are so high I found myself on the edge of my seat. Other times I found myself laughing and thinking of good times. Overall this is a great start to the series and if the rest of the series is anything like this first book then Necie will have a winner for awards. Necie has written her heart and soul in these characters and the plot is spot on and fast paced but you are able to follow along without any problems. I need me some more of the Camelot Brothers. Well done Necie!

Running from Demons by M.K. Theodoratus is a young adult paranormal fantasy book.  There is magic and demons and creatures. M.K. paints a picture with her description of  the characters and places within their world and the attention to detail makes it easy to  read. I found it hard to get into it was a but slow for me to start and took me a while to  settle in to it. There is plenty of action, a little romance and coming of age. There is  danger and a sense of longing, of wanting to belong but always being different even in  a world that is of difference.

It is an interesting story that is  engaging and quick read. There are a lot of unique elements that help you to imagine  the characters and the worlds and creatures that Colleen has created. Throw in some  action and mayhem, magic and aliens, fear and longing and a love triangle. Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1) Blake Blessing is great start to the series. The story is a paranormal fantasy romance with a twist. I wasn’t sure what I was getting with a reverse harem plot but it certainly did not disappoint me in any way shape or form. Right from the start I was pulled into this group of characters, that are endearing and interesting and found myself falling in love and completely invested in them as individuals and as a group. There is lots of drama, action and adventure, danger and suspense. You will be enthralled with the storyline and the vivid scenes and Blake’s imagination knows no bound. The story flowed well and you are so engrossed that before you know it, it will all over and you just want to scream because you want more. Geesh, book two can not come quick enough. Well done Blake a truly great story for a debut book.

Deadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover Novel by Maddie Wade & India Kells. Wow, I just love the Fortis Series but have not read the Purgatory series (don’t worry I intend to after this book), but this book is a fantastic read and the crossover is done extremely well. Good work ladies! The Fortis group are family and with just the few characters from Purgatory I already like what I have seen and I certainly look forward to the new group that Maddie and India have indicated maybe coming (well I hope that it is coming). There is never a dull moment in this book, action, you betcha, drama, yep, murder and mayhem, definitely, hot alpha men, oh yeah, kick arse women, sure is and they all come together in one compelling, enthralling, engaging and fantastic story. Maddie and India have worked their magic and come up with something that is magic.

Moments that Define Us by Amy McKinley takes us back to why and where it all began and what shaped these boys into men. I enjoy reading Amy’s books they are so descriptive and full of danger and action. We have a group of boys trying to find family and stay alive without getting caught up in anything illegal. With enemies on the warpath it’s only a matter of time before things turn against them. It is a short read but one that packs a punch giving us an insight to the life they endured before and defined them.

Self Love: A British Tale of Woe and Wit by TL Clark is rather a sad tale of one woman who has been beaten down all her life by most everyone she meets who have exacting ideas on what a woman should look like. It is a journey of self discovery and becoming comfortable to be who you are and hopefully finding the one who could be your forever love. A story of finding what makes you happy and deciding to make that happen. A story of finally being honest with yourself and those around you even if it means tough love and finally speaking out for yourself.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Transformations: The Shifter Series: Volume One (The Shifters Book 1) by Cari Schaeffer is a great start to this shifter series with a twist. These are shifters the like you have never seen before. The story is told through multiple POV’s giving you an inside look in to their thoughts and who they truly are. The only thing I didn’t like is that you were reading about one person and in the next sentence it was someone else but once I knew what to expect it was ok. Cari is good at world building and setting a scene and she writes characters that you can connect to. The story flowed well and was well paced. It seems that the story is just picking up and then ends. Now I have to patiently wait for the next installment of which I am looking forward to.

It is a safe bet to say that emotions run high and all over the place when you read this one, especially when something happens to one of my favourite characters, OMG I was speechless, stunned, no this could not be happening and finally I was heartbroken. Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn is the third book in the Ash Park Series and is another brilliant addition to the psychological thriller series. Repressed is a lot dark and disturbing, a little chilling and super thrilling. Whenever I read anything from Meghan I know I am in safe hands and always enjoy the fascinating and twisted world in which she weaves. The tension and suspense that built, not only in the story but within myself as I watched what these characters went through was compelling and gripping and had me on edge right the way through. I think this maybe the best book in the series to date. Will they survive all that is thrown at them or give up and give in?

I was so engaged and engrossed in this story that I read it all in one sitting. I highly recommend this book to those who like to read something dark and twisted.

I love a good PNR and this one is a little on the darker side than usual and it draws you in and you are unable to put it down. Once again this is a different take on the “norm” of vampires and done well. The characters are well fleshed out and L.D’s wordsmithing makes for a really good engaging story.. There is action and arse kicking, yay the good guys. There is humor and heart wrenching moments that found tears. Along with fear and bloody scenes there is family and love no matter who that maybe. Beneath a Blue Moon (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #2)Beneath a Blue Moon by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beneath a Blue Moon Carrie Pulkinen is the second book in the series and is a paranormal, romance. I enjoyed it as much as I did the first book in the series. It is full of magical werewolfs and witches and evil. Who doesn’t like a good shifter story where evil seeks revenge. A curse that can cause pain and misery and lots of action and mystery. Whilst mayhems reins, two of the most unlikely of matches find their way to each other but they have so much pain from the past that will keep them apart. One is cursed the other doesn’t like witches. Will they be able to overcome their differences and finally rid the evil that threatens them all or will curse and mistrust keep them from finding who they really are together? The one thing Rain needs is the one thing she can’t ask for. This story is a great read and I loved the characters. The story was told in several POV’s providing that much needed richness of a full story. I suggest you read the first book in the series and they are a good part of this book as well.
