Finding Balance (The Portal Prophecies #6) by C.A. King – Review by Jenni Bishop

Finding Balance (The Portal Prophecies #6)Finding Balance by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Finding Balance is the sixth and last book to The Portal Prophecies written by C.A. King and a wonderful ending to this fantastic series. Just like the other books in this series it does not disappoint. There are plenty of twists and turns, plots, death and survival. This is certainly not a standalone book and you must read every book before to understand this world and the wonderful characters that C.A. has woven.

We find everything coming to a head with the usual suspects Willow and her sidekicks. The final battle is coming and Willow must do everything to stop Cornelius and Cornost. Two evil men who want to conquer the worlds and destroy everything and everyone in their paths. Will must awaken the last of the ancient trees before it’s too late and everything and everyone she holds dear is destroyed. Whilst Willow is racing against time to do everything she can we see the other characters coming to grips with the evil that left them ensnared with no memory of what happened to them and their friends. Along the way Willow finds out exactly who she is and who is on her side and who is not. She also finds out the meaning of love and that true love means selfless sacrifice even though it breaks her heart.

Will Willow find a way to reconcile with long lost friends and family? Will they be taken away before she gets a chance to see them? Will the final battle mean the loss of loved ones? Will Willow loose the one person she loves with all her heart? Will friends be foes and will foes be friends. Can Willow ever overcome the loss she has had to endure?

All in all, this is series for any age and I would recommend it to one and all. I look forward to reading all the books I can from C.A. as she weaves worlds and realms that take you away and yet you feel like you are in it with them every step of the way.

Moments of Love (Moments to Remember #3) by Ysa Arcangel – Review by Jenni Bishop

Moments of Love (Moments to Remember #3)Moments of Love by Ysa Arcangel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moments of Love is the third book in the Moments to Remember series by Ysa and it is the perfect culmination of all the other books in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and can’t say enough things about it. It is certainly thought provoking and will have you in tears, not pretty tears, they will be great sobbing tears so ensure you grab a strong drink and a box of tissues and settle down for this last installment to a truly beautiful and heart wrenching story. The story picks up straight off where the second book ended.

Brandy is not only suffering from the effects of Alzheimer’s and then she is now consumed by postpartum depression after the birth of her two beautiful babies. She loves her babies but she can’t seem to make it better. Her family is her life but she knows that with her condition, love is not enough so she does the one thing she believes is best for them. Ivo does all he can to help his wife and keep his family strong, but is it enough?

Ivo is struggling to cope with looking after his wife and caring for his children. But his love can overcome it all. But can it? When Brandy is lost Ivo’s world is turned on it’s head and completely devastated.

This story shows the strength and courage of a the main characters who are dealing with so much. It shows that love can overcome overwhelming odds if you have the right partner to lean on. This series has touched me the way that no other has. Ysa is smart and clever writer that has written an truly beautiful story that will leave you feeling every high and low that the characters themselves feel. This is a very short read but totally worth your time.

Of WaterOf Water by Cori Vidae
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cori Vidae has a way with words and has written a compelling story with Of Water. This book is almost poetic. The story is a bit on the darker side dealing with depression but done in a beautiful way. This is a very very short novella that was very well written and left a punch. It was sad yet mysterious with hopelessness yet hope. Mara is at a crossroad in life. Her world is no longer what she needs. Everything she loves has gone. If I just step into the water everything will be better. However as she is saved by a mystery man she decides she wants to live.

Breaking the Cycle (Rocking Racers, #1) by Megan Lowe – Review by Jenni Bishop

Breaking the Cycle (Rocking Racers, #1)Breaking the Cycle by Megan Lowe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Breaking the Cycle by Megan Lowe is the first book in the Rocking Racers series and it is definitely a five-star read. Our two main characters are Bria Marie Adams and Reed Cooper Ryan meet and sparks explode around them. It is truly love at first sight and soul mates abound. They have a few bumps in the road along the way but nothing they can’t overcome. You will love the characters and the Ryan men are are to die for. They are easy going and a very lovable bunch of people but it hasn’t always been easy for them along the way to love. There is a curse hanging over their heads which has caused them to shy away from commitment and love.

Bria heads to the local dinner for something to eat and and her life changes immediately. She is suddenly thrust into the Ryan family and quickly meshes with them all especially the tall hottie Reed.

Reed has this undeniable pull towards the beautiful woman. He doesn’t do relationships but he certainly wants one with her. He wants to make her his but will the curse strike again? Can he chance a relationship with her and have it all fall apart? Would he be able to survive if the curse were to strike Bria? Will the Ryan rival threaten everything?

Megan Lowe has written a story that packs a punch and it is definitely addictive. The bond that the Ryan family and those they consider family is heartwarming and I often found myself laughing out loud to their antics. There is some rough rides throughout the book that just makes the story that much better. Once you start you will not want to put it down. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

The Touch of Snow (Glacial Blood #1) by Anna Edwards – Review by Bobbi Wagner

The Touch of Snow (Glacial Blood #1)The Touch of Snow by Anna Edwards
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Touch of Snow (The Glacial Blood Book 1) by Anna Edwards is a paranormal romance that will leave you wanting more. This book has a little bit of everything in it, anything from laughter, to compassion to of course hot steamy romance. This is the second book I have read by this author and I can’t wait to get my hands on more, she just blows my imagination away. One of the things that I love most about this author is her creativity with her characters. They just find a way to pull you into their world and make you feel like you are right there with them. Another thing that I love about this author is her ability to keep me engaged and the way she pulls me into her stories from the first word. This story has a few twists and turns that you won’t want to miss but will keep you on the edge of your seat and the hot steamy romance will leave you wanting a cold bath. Find out what happens to these characters as they start a journey that will change their lives forever.

Selene Harper is a woman who doesn’t know really a lot about herself, honestly you could say nothing. She is not sure who or what she is. When she touches you, she can her your thoughts. This is not a good thing when you are new to town and looking to make new friends and go on dates. What will happen when she is thrown into a world of shape shifting bear, wolves and wild cats?

Brayden Dillion is a shape shifting snow leopard. His role is the lead assassin for the Glacial Blood Pack but he has already been told when he will mate and when he will be made a sentinel. His problem has been that he can’t find his life mate. What he doesn’t realize is that when he goes to visit is his mother, how his life will change.

Selene and Brayden’s relationship has been one where they seem to have a connection from the first time they meet. He is this alpha male and she is confused about what she is. She is afraid of everything because of her gift that she doesn’t understand. She just want to be like everyone else and most of all not hear everyone’s thoughts that she touches. Their story is really a discovery of finding out why they are what they are. Will she learn what family really means? In my opinion they are both really strong characters. Once Selene comes into her own, watch out. She appears to be this quiet little female but is she really? Brayden is strong, gorgeous, tall and just wants to make her his. Keeping her safe is his priority. The secondary characters in this book will make you laugh and also at times make you angry. You will love some and hate some all at the same time. I can’t wait to see what book 2 will bring with the next two characters. You will just fall in love with all these characters. Find out what happens with Selene and Brayden as they face struggles together. Will they find out why they are the way they are? Will they find a way to be together and have their HEA? You will have to read to find out!

This is my second book by Anna Edwards and there is no doubt I will be going back for more. Anna lives with her husband, two children and two cats. She spends most of her time writing although she still does some accounting which she has done in the past. She enjoys making and eat cake and taking photographs. This is a fast paced story that you will not be able to put down. I couldn’t put it down, I needed to see what was going to happen with these two characters. I highly suggest this book as I know you will want to see what happens on Selene and Brayden’s journey to discovering what and why they are.

A Kiss upon a Star (Daydreams & Dragonflies, #1) by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Jana Teppih

A Kiss upon a Star (Daydreams & Dragonflies, #1)A Kiss upon a Star by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Kiss Upon A Star by Tamara Ferguson is the first book in her Daydreams & Dragonflies Sweet Romance series. I have read quite a few of her books so I was very much looking forward to this new series and she did not let me down!
It is a short and sweet story of Tim and Emily who meet for the very first time when Emily is just 10 years old. Emily’s life is all mapped out by her mother already at that young of an age so it sort of seems like where do we go from here? Skipping ahead in time by 8 years and they meet up again and by the end of that surprise encounter, they both know that there is something special between them. They agree to email to each other but obviously, something goes wrong (like in real life …) Skipping ahead another 6 years and we are on a journey to find out if love really finds a way.
A Kiss Upon A Star is a sweet love story and if you have read any of the other Tamara Ferguson’s books then you know what to be prepared for! I loved the humour and resilience and how Emily finally finds her way and how well Tim and Emily complement each other and I was happy to be back in Crystal Rock and … I love the world Tamara has created in Crystal Rock and I have to admit after I had finished this book, I went and read couple of other stories in her Wounded Warrior series that I had missed to read yet.
If you feel a bit low and want to read something that warms your heart and soul, pick up Tamara Ferguson! She will deliver and restore your faith and hope!

Amnesia (Centrifuge Duet, #1) by Kylie Hillman – Review by Sheri Schrader

Amnesia (Centrifuge Duet, #1)Amnesia by Kylie Hillman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amnesia by Kylie Hillman is the first in the Centrifuge Duet series. This is a psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns. Dr. Jax Ray is from a wealthy family he has only wanted Amber St. George since they were teens. The families are both well to do and have always wanted the two to marry and secure the future of the families. The problem is Jax will go to any extremes to get Amber and keep her for himself. He has now come up with the ultimate plan. Amber is put into an amnesia state that Jax controls. How does she know what is real and false memories when you have to trust the man who has put you into this state?
This is a gripping tale of terror. The characters are believable. Jax is terrifying in his manipulation of Amber and to control the situation. Amber is someone I was rooting for to overcome Jax. She is strong when she has her memories and is trying to figure out her situation. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and could not put it down. I wanted to know how someone could arrange this situation and make it work. This was a terrifying tale of abuse, mental and physical.
I recommend this story if you like to be kept on the edge of your seat and interesting characters. I will be reading the second book as soon as I can. I want to know where the story goes.

Bonded Autumn Sand is the third book in her A Twisted Hearts Love Story series. I recommend you read the other two books in the series before this one so you get the back stories of the other characters even though it is a standalone. Shadows (A Love Ever After Series, #1 & #2) by Amber Lacie – Review by Jenni Bishop

Shadows (A Love Ever After Series, #1 & #2)Shadows by Amber Lacie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shadows is a two book story and it was a fabulous read and I enjoyed every single word. It is a beautiful story with lots of twists and a great plot that will keep you guessing page after page. The main characters have to overcome so much in their lives which will see you on an emotional roller coaster ride. This series will have you captivated and will see you laughing and crying whilst seeing you cringe as there is plenty of betrayal and mystery, suspense and sorrow. The main characters are sweet and sexy and there is lots of lust and passion that you can feel every moment with them.

The books follows Eve who is dealing with loss of one of her best friends and Theron who has a shitty past and when they meet their worlds collide they explode into fireworks. Theron is our hero that you will love no matter his faults, he knows what he wants and loves and will settle for nothing less. Eve won’t let anyone walk all over her and is sweet and sensitive, loving and caring. They both have known loss so great that it has threatened their sanity but the love Theron has for his woman is a love you only dream about and the love and acceptance Eve has for Theron is unconditional. Throw in one crazy Grandma who has no filter and you have a magical story.

When everything is threatened will their love be enough to hold each other together? Will evil threaten everything they have? Just when he has her will she be lost forever? Will Eve be able to overcome the horrors she has to endure? Will Theron’s past finally be put to rest?

I can’t wait to read more of Amber Lacie’s work. She has written our heroine as an amazingly strong female and our hero as a man every woman wants. This is definitely a must read.

10 Dates by Emily James – Review by Jenni Bishop

10 Dates10 Dates by Emily James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh My God! 10 Dates by Emily James is a short story and a quick fun read. I found myself laughing out loud and a permanent smile on my face just reading about the things the main character of the story went through and had to endure. I loved the storyline which was absolutely hilarious and so refreshing. The characters are very well written and well developed and totally loveable. You feel as though it could be you and your friends side by side on this journey.

Joanie has just found out the man she thought she wanted to marry, was not all he seemed, so rather than let her dwell on thing too much, her well meaning friend, Melinda, decides the best thing for her friend is to have 10 dates in 10 days. As each date unfolds you wonder how Joanie survives them, as each one is more ridiculously funny than the others. Throw in a sexy next door neighbour and you have one hell of a story. The sarcastic and sexy banter between the two is absolutely the funniest thing I have read in a long time. If only you could see what is right under your nose. With well meaning friends who needs enemies?

I was thoroughly entertained from the very beginning until the very end. This is one hysterical and sweet romantic read that you will not want to miss. Grab a drink and be prepared for a fun and entertaining afternoon. I highly recommend this book as a must read.

Omorrow (Ascenders #3) by C.L. Gaber – Review by Jenni Bishop

Omorrow (Ascenders #3)Omorrow by C.L. Gaber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Omorrow is the third book in C.L. Gaber’s Ascenders series starts where Skypunch left off. These books should be read in order as Omorrow continues on from Ascenders and Ascenders Skypunch and the characters have very extensive and very complex back stories.

The story continues as Walker Callaghan and Daniel Reid and the specially picked motley crue from the Midst are sent back to the living realm on an impossible mission to try and find the mystery of Albert Einstein’s writings. There is just one major snag and that is if you die in the past in the living realm you do not come back and you will not be born in the future. They also have one major rule on this mission and that is do not do anything to to change the past because it could change the future.

Walker the unspoken leader of the group definitely feels the pressure to solve things and the group find themselves in more sticky situations than ever. But who can they trust? Only one thing for sure friends could be foes and foes friends. Walker can count on one thing and one thing only and that is Daniel. Daniel is her one constant, her crutch to lean on but what happens when that crutch is no longer available?

With each jump in time they find themselves looking to discover clues and answers which are revealed to Walker and Daniel along the way to ensure that the information does not fall into the wrong hands. With the pressure on, can they find the mysterious writings in time and can they survive the trial and tribulations thrown at them and the ones they care about without anyone dying?

C.L. Gaber is a talented writer who has the ability to make things, fun, exciting and entertaining. The story takes you on a magical journey that you can not put down.
Omorrow certainly didn’t disappoint and was the best in the series so far. I have come to love all the characters and especially all their quirks. I can’t wait to see what C.L. comes up with next for these lovable misfits.

Moments of Love (Moments to Remember Book 3) by Ysa Arcangel

5 Stars

Oh my gosh, this series has me a hot mess, it wasn’t enough that Brandy was suffering from the effects of Alzheimer’s now postpartum depression has consumed her. She loves her family with her whole heart, and feels she must do what is best for them. Ivo does all he can to help his wife and keep his family strong, but is it enough?

The first two books have taken us on a journey with Ivo’s children, as they try to understand Ivo and Brandy’s past, and how their Mom plays into it. This is a story about love, a love so strong it can fight against the most awful of diseases. This is also a story about strength, the strength and courage of a woman dealing with so much yet willing to put her family first trying to ensure their future is without pain.

I have honestly never read a series that has touched me the way this one has, this will stay with me forever. Alzheimer’s has touched and affected my own family and I could physically feel the pain and love that Ivo dealt with on a daily basis. This author is amazingly brilliant, and handled this whole series beautifully. This didn’t feel like a book series to me, this was real life, and so many deal with this every day. I will hold this story close to my heart and I will reread this often. I am already looking forward to the spin off Novel and will be watching for any and everything by this author in the future.

This is not a standalone novel…you really have to read this series in order, you will be completely lost if you don’t.

Haunting Me (Haunting Me #1)Haunting Me by Nikki LeClair
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Haunting Me by Nikki LeClair is the first in the Haunting Me book series. This is a fun, paranormal, mystery with some romance. I accidentally had read the second book first so I was glad to get the first one read as well. The story follows Phoebe Mercer an up and comer in a prestigious law firm with a wonderful boyfriend. One would think her life is perfect until she is run over by a hot dog cart. This is when her life turns upside down. Not only is she now the laughing stock at the office but she also can see a ghost. Edie is a ghost with an agenda. She turns Phoebe’s life inside out and gets her in the middle of a mystery.
The characters are fun and kept me laughing. Phoebe is a mess and does not know what to do with Edie in her life. Will her job and boyfriend suffer because of her new found acquaintance? I enjoyed this book a lot. The story was a fun mystery and the characters made me laugh out loud. Just when I thought it could not get any messier than something else happened. Since I have read book 2 also I am anxiously awaiting the next in the series.
This is one of those books that are a quick, fun read. I enjoyed the break from reality and will look for more from LeClair in the future. Everyone can enjoy this fun story that reminds us how complicated life can get.

Flash Point (Nite Fire, #1)Flash Point by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nite Fire: Flash Point by CL Schneider is a thriller supernatural shifter story that is full of action and mystery. CL very creative and has written a story that captures your imagination right from the very start. It is action packed with murder and mysteries and some pretty cool characters. The characters are interesting and have lots of depth and the main character is sassy, brash and loud and the heroine of this story.

Dahlia Nite is half dragon and half human who is as tough as nails. She has fled her world as a traitor and now protects the humans by hunting those who don’t belong on the human world. When gruesome, blood thirsty and unusual murders start to happen in Sentinel, Dahlia is enlisted by the authorities to help find the killer or killers. Bonded (A Twisted Hearts Love Story book 3) by Autumn Sand – Review by Jana Teppih

Bonded (A Twisted Hearts Love Story book 3)Bonded by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bonded is the third book in Autumn Sand’s Twisted Hearts Love Story series and absolutely, you can read it as a standalone but why should you? She has written two other amazing books that will get you hooked on the series and in reality, we do meet BOTH of the main characters in the previous two books and of course, all the sidekicks! You would never expect that a series can get so much better with each book but you would be wrong, there is something about the way Autumn writes that simply spell bounds you and you are like a fly in a spider’s web and she keeps coming at you again and again and again. You cry your heart out, you scream, you blush, you rage, you cannot put the book down, you check if there will be more books in the series (and thank God, there is a fourth book listed on Goodreads so I know at some point in time, there will be another one!!).
Bonded is the story of Carl CJ “Magnum” Miller and Brenda Johnson. Both of them carry heavy burden of their past and do not trust the people and do not think that they would ever be worthy/ready for a relationship. When Brenda sees Magnum for the first time, she does not think of happily ever after, she is thinking of a hot and steamy one night stand. When Magnum meets the spunky Brenda for the first time, he knew that he was in trouble and his need for her ran way too deep so he knew what he had to do – push her away …
Add to this all the past that does not stay buried, a grisly anniversary coming and you have a recipe for an amazing story! Thank you Autumn and please, do not keep us waiting too long!

Amnesia (Centrifuge Duet, #1) by Kylie Hillman – Review by Jenni Bishop

Amnesia (Centrifuge Duet, #1)Amnesia by Kylie Hillman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Imagine waking up and not knowing who you are. Imagine someone telling you who you are. Imagine someone telling you how to live. Imagine a family willing to do anything to ensure having it all. Imagine living with a monster. Imagine the man who is supposed to love you going to any lengths to ensure you were his. These are all the things that Amber had to deal with whilst being held hostage by a deranged man who said he loved her but if this hell is love she would rather not know.

Amber St. George is being kept against her will only she doesn’t know it. After spending her life hating the very people who were supposed to love and protect her, Amber is now faced with bringing down the very people who destroyed her, only she is taken and her life as she knows it is over. Or is it?

Jaxon Ray has only ever wanted one thing, the one thing that despised him. Now that he has found her he is not going to let her go. She will be his and she will love him only she doesn’t know it. He is willing to do anything and I mean anything to make her his. Now that he has her he is keeping her mind captive. He is ensuring she has no memory of her life before him. He is ensuring she only knows him and ensures she believes his lies by keeping her in a constant state with Amnesia.

Will Amber ever regain her memory? Will Amber ever know what this monster has done to her? Will Amber ever be free of the monster? Will the lies ever come to light? Where are the people who should love her?

Kylie Hillman has done a brilliant job of weaving this tale and keeping you guessing from start to finish. The story packed full of lies and deceit, pain and torture, rage and power so much so that I feel like I need revenge. I feel like I need to bring this monster to justice. This is a very dark story and the ending will leave you cursing up a storm. I cannot wait to read the second book to this series. If you are looking for a psychological suspense to read then this book is for you so grab a copy.
