THE GOD (HER THREE IMMORTALS BOOK 2) by HAZEL STORM – Review by Katie Matthews

The God (Her Three Immortals, #2)The God by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this first book in this series so I couldn’t wait to start the second and I absolutely loved it! I wasn’t sure when I started this series whether I would like it not being a huge paranormal fan but I can honestly say I think this is one of my favourite series so far this year! The characters are great, it’s steamy, sexy and a whole lot more! I love the multiple POV’s in the story, makes it seem more rounded and I feel like I know all of the characters so much better. I was so engrossed in this story that I read it in a matter of hours – there is a slight cliff-hanger not enough to drive you mad but definitely enough to make you want the next book!
I am really excited to see where the author takes this series in the next book – I cannot wait!

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Katie Matthews

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I honestly just love this author so much; I’ve lost count of how many of her books I have ready and I’m sure each one just gets better and better. I am really enjoying this series and I think this may have been my favourite so far! Sam and Ellie – oh my – what a couple! I loved their story, Sam’s story honestly broke my heart sometimes, I just really wanted something positive for him in his life and I knew as soon as he made contact with Ellie, she would be the one to do it! Ellie had her past problems as well and I really felt for her, both of these characters had almost but given up until that fateful wrong number and from then on, I was rooting for them the whole way through!
There are some parts if this story that will trigger some readers but as always, the author deals with them sensitively whilst remaining true to life.
I cannot recommend this book enough – it really is an amazing, emotional and heart-breaking read at times and well worthy of the 5 stars I give it!

Bared. (A Green St. Girls Romance) by N.D. Jackson – Review by Katie Matthews

Bared. (Green St. Girls #1)Bared. by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was super excited to read this book by N D Jackson, I have read book by her previously so I couldn’t wait to get going and as I completely expected I wasn’t disappointed at all. She certainly knows how to command the attention of her readers; the pace and flow was excellent and the characters were wonderful to read about. I think what really shone through for me in this story was the connection the girls had – they were all so relatable and I just really wanted to be part of their group! I absolutely adored Athena, she was such a great character and I cannot wait for the rest of the series! I really loved the author attention to detail and how well she got across the feelings of these authors – I could honestly feel what they were feeling at times! This is definitely a one click recommendation from me! A fantastic 5 star read!

Bake Believe AUDIO BOOK

I loved this audio book so much!  The characters were just amazing and I really felt like I knew them. The author really did an amazing job with her character development for this story. This is the first book that I have listened to by this author and I will absolutely be looking to listen to more from her again in the future. I love baking so I think that really helped me relate to the main character Cat, I really liked and her and enjoyed listening to the story her. I loved the recipes too!
A nice quirky audio book that I absolutely loved! The narration was really good too and I would definitely recommend it to other readers!

Defined (The Cadence Duet Book Two) AUDIO BOOK

By Dakota Willink

4 Stars

After listening to book 1 in this series I was really excited to find out what was going to happen to Cadence and Fitz. This followed on from book 1 albeit 17 years later. I would highly recommend listening to book 1 first to fully understand the dynamics of this couple’s relationship. I’m not 100% sure I liked this book as much as book 1 but it was still a really enjoyable listen, some great twists and turns in the story too. The narrators again were excellent and really brought the story to life. They still kept tup that connection between the two characters and made it feel real and genuine.

I really enjoyed listening to this duet and I would absolutely recommend it.

An Enduring Love by Wareeze Woodson – Review by Katie Matthews

An Enduring LoveAn Enduring Love by Wareeze Woodson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another enjoyable read from this author. It’s nice to find a historical author who writes in nice detail such as this one. The characters were really interesting to read about and I really liked following their journey. After everything that happened between the two main characters, I felt like I was so invested in their story, I felt for them and also the others that were intertwined in their lives. I won’t say that I loved all of the characters all of the times but they definitely made for good reading in my opinion. I really did feel for Rebecca, after everything she went through, I felt she deserved a little more from Rhys.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable story, some nice little twists that made it less predictable than I anticipated and I would definitely recommend it. I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Houses of Deception (The Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series Book 6) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Katie Matthews

Houses of Deception (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 6)Houses of Deception by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I haven’t read a new book from this series for a while so I was really excited to see this one and I couldn’t wait to get started. As I expected I was pulled straight into Madeline and Mike’s lives again and into the action that has never wavered over this series at all. I was completely glued to this story and loved trying to work out what was going to happen. Whilst in this book the storyline switches between two disappearances I wasn’t confused at all, I could tell the author had taken her time in planning so as to not confuse the reader – it was very well written!
I think this could be read independently from the series but as I have read most if not all of it, I would highly recommend starting from the beginning! I’m definitely looking forward to book 7!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bittersweep was another wonderful historical romance read from this author. I am really enjoying these books at the moment and I loved that this one was set somewhere different to that I am used to. I love this author attention to detail and I am always completely swept up in the stories and the characters. I feel like I am right there with them and can easily imagine everything that I am reading. I loved Elizabeth and JP, they were such great characters with an undeniable chemistry. I really enjoyed the mystery that was interwoven into the story and I found I just wanted to keep on turning the pages to find out just what was going to happen. There were also some really good secondary characters that I enjoyed reading about and they definitely added that additional layer to a very enjoyable story. I already have my next book by this author lined up to read and I cannot wait!

I absolutely love a holiday romance story, even if it is in July and I love reading stories by this author! Her books never fail to entertain me and leave me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I loved Holly! She was such a wonderful character to read about, such a genuine and realistic character to read about. I was really invested in the characters story. The authors attention to detail means that her stories are really brought to life and I often feel like I can envisage them as a movie.

Taking Flight (Code of Honor Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Katie Matthews

Taking FlightTaking Flight by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taking Flight was a wonderful read. I was completely hooked from beginning to end. The author’s writing was amazing and the story was so easy to read. I loved the characters, Jody and Holt. Although this is the second book in the Code of Honor series, and I haven’t read the first, I had no problem in getting into the story although it has definitely made me want to read that first book now and find out about some of the characters that appear in this story. As soon as these two characters met, I could feel the connection between them and the chemistry was believable.
Taking Flight was a wonderful read and one that I highly recommend!

This was such a lovely story, I absolutely loved it. I was engaged form beginning to end and the authors writing was just beautiful, it was so easy to read. The characters felt so realistic, I honestly felt like I was right there with them. The author made them so likeable and relatable. Adam’s character was really interesting, I wasn’t sure about him to start with but as the story progressed and I began to see him unravel so to speak and I could totally understand why he was the way he was. I really felt for Jody, she was so down about herself. I loved this pair together, I felt like they had a genuine connection and I was rooting for them the whole way through.
I 100% recommend this story, it is beautifully written and was an absolute joy to read.

Untouched (The Cadence Duet Book One) AUDIO BOOK by Dakota Willink – Review by Katie Matthews

Untouched (The Cadence Duet Book One) AUDIO BOOK

By Dakota Willink

Untouched was a really lovely audio book to listen to, I really enjoyed the story and the narrators really brought the story to life. It was a great listen, not overly long – just right. There were some very unexpected twists and turns in the story too and I cannot wait to listen to the second book in the duet. I loved Cadence and Fitz, really great characters in the story. I definitely felt to innocence of Candence in the story – the author really managed to capture that well. I’ve listened to a few audio books now and I think this one probably had the best narrators, I really felt like they understood the characters well and that definitely came across.

I am really looking forward to more from this author and definitely the next book in the duet to see where this story will go.

I would definitely recommend this audio book to other listeners!

Awakening (The Journals Trilogy Book 3) – Audio Book

By D.M Earl

Narrated by Torii Alaniz

4 stars

This is the third audio book in The Journals Trilogy and I really enjoyed it. Again, the narration was really good and the book was easy to listen to. This really was a great ending to this series, the action was there from the beginning, I actually think this may have been my favourite out of the series – the author definitely seemed to save the best until last. There were some great and unexpected twists and turns in the story which the narrator really brought to life.

Overall a really enjoyable audio book and a great ending to this series! A must listen!

Unlikely in Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1) by Olivia Sherwood – Review by Katie Matthews

Unlikely in Love (A Parker Lake Novel Book 1)Unlikely in Love by Olivia Sherwood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a wonderful story! I loved the characters, I loved the plot, and I loved everything about it! This author knows how to write stories that you can’t help but be captivated by. Her characters are always likeable and it didn’t take me long to fall head over heels in love with them all – both the main and the secondary characters! I am so excited about what is to come in this series!
I loved Annabelle or Annie as she is known to her friends. She was such a genuinely nice character. Always thinking about others and she has a fantastic friendship with her friends. She is well respected in the community and this really comes across with how the other characters talk about her. She provided many humours moments in the story especially when reminiscing about her Grandmother, Sophie. I got a really good feeling about the relationship that they had with each other and reminded me of the fun relationship I had with my own Grandmother.
Wyatt was so yummy! I fell in love with him instantly! I really felt for him when he opened up to Annie about his past and what happened during his time serving his country. He had a great connection with his family especially his niece, Hattie Ann – who was just the cutest character ever! I loved the banter between him and Annie – he was pretty taken with her from the beginning!
The secondary characters in the story were great and I really hope they will get their own stories in the future.

Sex on Fire (Naughty Neighbor Book 1) by Ashley Bostock – Review by Katie Matthews

Sex on Fire: A Quickie Read (Naughty Neighbor Book 1)Sex on Fire: A Quickie Read by Ashley Bostock
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a very quick, sexy read and I absolutely loved it – my only issue – I wanted more!! I loved the characters, Poppy and Turner. I liked that it’s not always the most beautiful girl who gets the guy- not that Poppy wasn’t beautiful! Poppy was lovely and sweet and Turner – well he was the sexy neighbour – I wouldn’t complain if he was my next-door neighbour! There were a few moments that made me chuckle and I did feel sorry for Poppy at times, she was so unsure of herself.
For a short read, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend!

This is the third book in the Of Magic and Scales series and I was surprised by how much I liked the story and this is mainly because m/m stories are not my thing – but having read the rest of the series I wanted to see how it ended. Again, the author told a magical tale and I was really engaged in what I was reading. There was so much going on in this story that I couldn’t put it down – the authors writing style was really good. I would definitely recommend that the series is read in order. I have really enjoyed this series and Of Fire and Bone was a perfect conclusion.

Yet again another outstanding 5 star read from this author. After reading the synopsis for this story I couldn’t wait to get started – it was just brilliant from start to finish. This is the first book from this author that I’ve read that ends on a cliff-hanger in anticipation for part two and what a cliff-hanger it is! I cannot wait for the next part of this story! I will say, and so does the author, that there are triggers in this story and it was hard to read in parts the author made everything seem so real at times. I felt really connected to the characters, and I definitely loved some and hated others! I am really looking forward to seeing where the author takes the next book!

I absolutely love this author! This is the second book that I have read by her and she just absolutely brings my favourite genre to life as I’m reading. I honestly cannot recommend this book enough; I was hooked from beginning to end. The detailed writing allowed me to imagine exactly what was going on in the story and I adored the characters Isabel and Matthew – Isabel may have been a damsel in distress but she could certainly hold her own. I loved Matthew – who doesn’t love a sexy yet arrogant Viscount?!? I loved the twist in the story too!
A fantastic read – I cannot wait to read more from Ms Woodson again in the future.

Mr. Nice Guy was a really great read – I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve read books by this author previously and was impressed with her work so I jumped at the chance when I saw this book. It was a fun romcom read with a nice storyline and great characters. I liked Chelsea and Tom, they had a great connection with each other, their time together made me laugh out and I found myself rooting for them the whole way through. They may only have been fake dating but it definitely felt real at times and certainly genuine between them. I really enjoyed this light hearted read and I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Confessions of a Sophomore Prankster (Frat House Confessions, #6)Confessions of a Sophomore Prankster by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book! Casey and Setter were brilliant characters. I loved Setter for his fun, carefree attitude and Casey for her more reserved, focussed way of thinking. Together they made a great team and I could tell from the beginning of the story there was going to be something between them – opposites definitely attracted in this story! I really felt for Casey at the beginning of the story – I could really feel her sadness coming across with everything that had happened to her in her past. I really wanted Setter to be the one to make her see that she definitely has a life worth living!
This was definitely a feel-good romance story; I haven’t read the other books in this series but I absolutely will be now! A brilliant read and one I highly recommend!

I have read books by this author previously and I know how can be so I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy listening to them bit, I actually did. They narration was good – the stories definitely came across as delicious and sinful as intended. There were 7 books in total – some shorter than others but generally around an hour for each one give or take. They were as I expected – a little bit naughty and a whole lot of sinful! I really like this author and his writing style it is very engaging and not too over the top.

I would definitely recommend this audio book!

What a gripping read! Wow – I wasn’t 100% sure I was going to like this book but having read some of the author previous work I was interested in more so thought I would give it a go and I am so glad I did. I was completely hooked from beginning to end – it had me guessing, it had me on the edge of my seat and more. The characters were so well thought out they really were fantastic to read about. The descriptive language really brought the book to life. I loved the different twists and turns – it definitely kept me guessing the whole way through.

I really enjoyed this book; it was a nice contemporary romance read. I haven’t read anything by this author previously and I liked her writing style, it was easy to read and the flow was good. One thing I really liked was how much emotion the author put into the story, I found it made the characters really relatable and that definitely makes a story more enjoyable for me. Hadley was a lovely character, very sweet and a little naïve. I loved the relationship between Nick and his grandfather, it definitely provoked some memories from me about relationships with my grandparents at that age.
Overall a lovely read and an author who I would definitely like to read more from again in the future.

It was definitely a quick read for me because once I started I couldn’t out it down. This is definitely up there with my favourite reads of 2021! Vanessa was a great lead character to read about, I really liked her. The three leading men in the story were definitely enjoyable as well!! All of them were very different but all had this pull to Vanessa. I haven’t quite decided who my favourite might be yet! I liked the cliff-hanger and it definitely has me wanting more!!

In His Kiss was a great read and I really enjoyed it. The authors writing was engaging, easy to read and the storyline was good. I liked that characters, Jordan and Xia, and I think because their story spanned a long time in their lives, I really felt like I understood how they felt about each other. It wasn’t straight forward, there were some complexities to it but I couldn’t help myself from rooting for them. I could really feel the inner turmoil of both of them when it came to what would happen if they crossed the line and it ruined their strong friendship forever.

I am really looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future. @katie

Overall, I really enjoyed this audio book. The narration was good, it was easy to listen to and I liked the story. I always thought I would find it harder to connect with characters in an audio book but I definitely didn’t in this one. I liked Marcus and Sarena, he was definitely an alpha male – I loved that about him and I really liked Sarena too, I don’t always like the sweet and innocent female lead but I couldn’t help but think she was nice and definitely perfect for Marcus (in my opinion) – she did have a little bit of sass about her though!

Peyton Banks is a new to me author and I am definitely looking forward to listening/reading more of her stories!

I love this author and have read many of her books so when I saw this pop as an audio book I couldn’t wait to settle down and listen and I absolutely LOVED it! The story was as I expected from this author – she creates amazing characters. I loved Kendall – she certainly held her own against Liam and Liam – oh I know I shouldn’t have but I loved him straight away – who doesn’t love an arrogant but sexy as anything boss?!? Their story was brilliant, some great banter between them! The one thing I loved about this audio book was the use of dual narration, I’ve not listened to one like this before and it worked really well.

This is definitely a series I cannot wait for more from!
